I had an awesome experience with Dr. Torrey at The Bent Lens!…read more From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed by the friendly staff and impressed by the clean, modern office located in a really cool building. Dr. Torrey took the time to thoroughly explain my eye health, discuss preventative care and maintenance, and walk me through my insurance options in a way that was easy to understand. I never felt rushed, and all of my questions were answered with patience and professionalism. It's clear that Dr. Torrey genuinely cares about his patients and takes pride in providing excellent care. I left feeling informed, confident, and well taken care of. I would highly recommend Dr. Torrey and The Bent Lens to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, friendly, and thorough eye doctor.

In any type of retail, especially if medically related like your eyesight/vision, customers should be provided all options for any type of lenses and the beauty of being the one paying is that THEY get to decide what to buy and how much they want to spend. That ability was taken away from me here. My prescription is very very minimal. I've had corrective eye surgeries so I don't need much at all. I picked out a pair of frames that I liked and told the person to go ahead and place my order. I had to come back in to get measured and she said they'll call me when the glasses area ready. I didn't realize until pickup that somehow, for this very simple and very minimal prescription that the glasses were $300-$400!! Say, what??? I was like ok... I paid it and I said I'm going to be checking with my insurance because this isn't right. There's no way for what I was getting it should cost me that much. I also asked for a more detail receipt, not just an amount, but give details on what exactly I was charged. Well, what I found out in the emailed detailed documentation that the person who works there who took my order decided for herself that I was going to buy the MOST expensive lenses possible. I am very upset she did that and never ASKED me what I, the person paying, wanted to buy. She never gave me any options. She never explained anything. I mean, that's your job is to lay out and describe to me what my purchase options are. She just went ahead and ordered the most expensive thing on my behalf. I didn't think of it during the purchase process (why isn't she showing & explaining lens options...) because that part is their job #1 and #2, I haven't purchased glasses in a really really long time due to my corrective eye surgeries. I didn't even think of what she was *not* doing correctly. So, I called and has this discussion and I needed some of this money back. No way am I paying almost $400 for glasses that barely have any prescription to them, thus I will barely even need/use. I liked the frames so I wanted to keep them and she offered getting the lenses remade. And I'm feeling like, I don't know that I want to do business with them again. So that wasn't my preference given what just happened, how nothing was explained and I was just charged without my consent. Next I said what if I just return the lenses and she said she would refund me. So, that's what I ended up doing. To me it's really ridiculous that she couldn't refund me the difference for the less expensive lenses and allow me to keep the lenses already manufactured and in the frame. -- THAT would have been the ideal response. -- THAT would have saved losing me as a customer for life. So, now we are just going to fully waste the most expensive, perfectly good lenses, sized only for my frames, and with my own prescription for absolutely nothing? Great. How stupid. She is the one who grossly messed up and she should have allowed me to keep those lenses for her mistake instead of being so wasteful. I'm out.

I have no clue what people say about them, but we are not happy with their service at all. Not professional and not knowing what they are doing. I gave so much time and chance for them but it is just not there. Each time I have to take off work driving there wasting time and not getting results for half year. Very frustrating and disappointing.

Rescheduling the visit to have the prescription corrected ended up costing us an additional copay based on the time it took for us to get back in. What a headache to finally get something we needed the first time. Do not recommend

My old dr of 30years retired and I needed a new place. When I scheduled, and asked if they'd like my records, I was told, "no, we're fine." When I arrived, I felt that I was irritating Dr. Shimonova. When I returned a few weeks later, my glasses were unwearable as the rx was not right. Went back a 2nd time, was told by Dr. Shmonova that "That's what you said you wanted." When they looked at my current glasses, it was found that the 2 scripts were miles apart. She just kept repeating "that's what you wanted." I came back for the remake a few weeks later and they were STILL WRONG! I asked for another Dr. I also brought my medical records with me. Dr. Thompson took time to meet with me and review my records. She made some adjustments. I came back and they were finally correct. It took 3 attempts and almost 3 months to get my glasses. I'm finding someplace new and my dad won't be back either.

I've been a customer of Eyecare Consultants for over 13 years. I brought my children here since…read morethey were toddlers. For more than a decade, I trusted this place with my family's vision care -- but the way this business operates now is absolutely unacceptable. The office manager, who proudly claims she has "run this place for 26 years," is the biggest problem. If that's true, then she deserves full credit for dragging this business straight into the ground. Her behavior has been dishonest, manipulative, and shockingly unprofessional. There is a constant revolving door of physicians -- most lasting barely a year -- which has led to inconsistent and careless care. That's exactly how my daughter, who has 20/20 vision, ended up with a completely incorrect prescription of +2.75. I paid over $700 out of pocket for glasses and contacts, and all I received was a $100 contact credit. The rest? Gone. When I brought the issue back to them, the excuses were all over the place. A voicemail from the business on May 16 clearly stated the glasses were dropped off that day and they'd like to discuss a credit to the account. Later, on 12/22/2025, the manager tried to claim they had been sitting on her desk for years. The story changed every time I asked a question. Then came the most unbelievable part: the manager tried to convince me that I had given consent to donate my own property. She looked me straight in the eye and lied to my face. She refused to reimburse or credit my account, even after admitting the prescription was wrong. Instead, she took the glasses back under the pretense of "donations," then conveniently claimed they don't provide donation slips -- even for brand-new glasses I paid for. The reality is likely they sold them. When I expressed how unacceptable this was, she told me she didn't care about losing customers. That tells you everything you need to know about how this place is run. And let's talk about pricing: you can buy the exact same products at Costco for a fraction of the cost -- literally 1/15 of what Eyecare Consultants charges -- and still use your VSP benefits. The markup here is outrageous, and the service doesn't justify a single dollar of it. After 13 years of loyalty, I'm done. Between the dishonesty, the inflated prices, the refusal to take responsibility, and the constant turnover of physicians, this place has become a perfect example of how a business collapses under bad leadership.
