They have the best flavor wing sauces, very unique flavoring that is so good. The service is always top notch, all of the staff is very friendly. The cocktails are unique, a good amount of options, and they're usually pretty quick to come out. The overall setting of the restaurant is very nice, and always clean side. This was an odd place. Menu was extensive and portions were generous, but the service was quirky to the point of being bizarre. First indications of oddness were when I asked for a description of the soups du jour and the server really didn't know what the names meant. I asked what the stars printed on the menu meant and she didn't know either. Weirdly, whenever she came by with dishes, she went to the opposite side of the table from where the plates needed to be laid down, bending down awkwardly over the dessert menu display and reaching across the table instead of just going to that side and laying them down easily. We have no idea why she did so. Perhaps the oddest thing of all is that she never cleared away our used plates. Our soups and salads were left on the table even after we were obviously done with them and the main courses were served. Thus we had quite the pileup of plates when we ordered dessert -- at that point we actually had to ask for some of the plates to be cleared away so that there would be room for the dessert. Even then, she cleared away only the entree plates and left all the used soup and salad plates sitting there piled around the dessert. Not very appetizing. We shunted them to the corner of the table, but still. . . Food was decent, but not great, really. My mashed potato tasted more like a baked potato, it hadn't been mashed much at all. Chicken croquettes were a lot more breading than chicken. Dessert was actually quite good and the soups were decent. I'm being generous with my three star review. Really more like two and a half stars. They were nice enough and the menu had some good looking stuff but considering the service was bizarre and the food only meh, can't really recommend. read more

Great diner! My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our lunch at Diner 248! Our waiter was extremely friendly and right on point with everything the moment we sat down. He even remembered that I don't like lemon in my water and didn't put it on my glass! He was also very fast & efficient! We came to the diner on a rainy Sunday afternoon in the fall and it was packed! We only had to wait 15-20 minutes before being seated but we didn't mind. When we sat down at our table we had already studied the menu; while we were waiting (which I recommend because there are so many awesome options to choose from)! My boyfriend decided to order breakfast and I decided to order a lunch option. My boyfriend ordered the Pop's pancakes special. It came with two very large pancakes (he chose to get two pumpkin pancakes), two eggs any style, choice of breakfast meat (he chose the bacon) and an order of hash browns. He ate everything on his plate and really enjoyed it! The pumpkin pancakes were by far the best! They came with a delicious cream cheese icing drizzled on top and they were too die for! Definitely one of my favorite things we ordered. I ordered a cup of soup and a Ruben. The soup was delicious and perfect for a cold rainy afternoon! It was a cream of chicken and vegetables. It was terrific and I really enjoyed it. The soup tasted fresh and it was the perfect portion size. Excellent flavor. The Ruben was also great! It wasn't melted as fully as I would've liked but it was great! I also asked for extra thousand island dressing because the sandwich was a little dry for my liking. But overall it was great! A very large portion so I couldn't finish and I had to bring the rest home. It also came with fries that were crispy but tasted as though they had been sitting out. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at Diner 248, the food was good, the staff was very friendly and the ambiance in the resturant was nice as well. I gave this resturant a 4 star review because of some minor things I know they could work on! But again, overall, I really enjoyed my experience here and I will definitely be back again soon! Definitely try the pumpkin pancakes next time you come here as well, they're terrific!! read more

If you drive by Diner 248 at any time of the day their parking lots full. That's because they have good food. They have a large selection of dinners and sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches, lunch menus. Their wing nights are phenomenal. The staff is always nice. I would definitely recommend trying Diner 248. read more

Man, it had been a long time since I was last inside this building. The last time I was here prior to last week this place was still known as the dearly departed Jack Creek Steakhouse. (Moment of silence for a solid local spot that died well before it should have.) While the inside of course has changed and the menu is radically different from that time, the one thing which is the same is that everything here is truly a quality experience. Monty Christo - Mediterranean Omelet The omelet was a good size and it was chock full of tomatoes & feta. If you like tomatoes hit this one as it will be perfect. The accompanying home fries were a little on the underseasoned side but overall not a big deal at all. The Monty Christo is a whole different cat then you might be expecting. If you're expecting the classic style where it's coming with powdered sugar, preserves or even deep fried this isn't it. The Christo here is a far more simple ham, turkey and swiss sandwich almost on french toast. Not to say that's a bad thing because to me it's not but it is a little different. What is noteworthy is that the Christo itself is large which makes the accompanying home fries near overkill in the too much food department. The best part of the deal was the service. Seated right away. The server was perfect with drink refills and letting us know when the food would be out. No issues here at all. The one slight downside is that compared to other area diners, 248 is on the expensive side in terms of what they charge for breakfast but at the same time the food quality is definitely there and so is the service. No problem with coming back in the near future to further explore the menu. read more

I am delighted that I decided to give this place a try during my 1-night stay at the Poconos. My wife and I were staying at the Hampton Inn across the street from this restaurant and as it was well past 9:30 p.m. before we finally got settled at the hotel, so we decided to take it easy for the evening and order and pick up from here rather than drive somewhere else and sit down. And I am really glad that we made that decision. Between my wife and I we got to try out a large number of items from the menu and based on how good we found (almost) each of those, I feel confident in recommending this place to others and save it on my list of favorites. My wife ordered the 248 Backyard BBQ whereas I ordered the crab cakes. The 248 Backyard BBQ came with five chicken wings and in addition, we got coleslaw, fries, and tomato gruyere soup. The pork ribs were very nicely flavored and the chicken wings - which I ordered as spicy - were among some of the nicest I have had. The tomato gruyere soup was lip-smacking delicious and because of that and the crab cakes, I was all but licking the styrofoam containers in which the meals came. And finally, such excellent food in abundant quantity came to $35, with a $3 tip included. Because I just had a takeout, it is hard for me to comment on service. But I did sit down at the bar for a few minutes as I was waiting to pick my order up and found the bartender who was preparing my order to be friendly. She also packed in disposable wipes with my order - a nice touch given the pork ribs. And lastly, during that 10 minutes or so I was at the bar, I did notice that all of the servers who were at the restaurant seemed to be enjoying themselves - a sign that customers would also likely enjoy themselves if they did have the full dining experience here. If there was anything I could say that was less than ideal about our meal, it was that the fries which came with our order had become soggy. I would suggest that the fries be the very last item that gets packed into a takeout order and perhaps they use vented takeout containers for those fries. Also it would have helped to have a sachet of pepper and salt with the order but those are very minor points compared to what was an excellent experience otherwise. I would drive out of my way to have my next meal here if I were ever within a 20-minute or so driving distance of this restaurant and suggest you do as much. read more

My mom and I stopped here for lunch yesterday. The place was clean, busy, and staff was nice and friendly. Mom had a chicken quesadilla and I had a California chicken sandwich. The following day we were both sick and in the bathroom often. It was the only meal other than breakfast cereal or oatmeal we had had all day, so I have little doubt this meal was what made us sick. So my family and I tried this restaurant because a book my mom was reading mentioned this restaurant. I'll start off by saying that this is not a diner - it's a restaurant. The inside is a little ... eh, they could use help with the decor because it definitely makes the place feel a little sub par - divey. However despite that the food is actually pretty good. I got the crab cakes and they were so yummy and my mom got stuffed flounder that she also said was good. My dad and brother had the ribs which were a special and although they had flavor - Smokey- they were not fall off the bone and a tad chewy. My fish was really good and I recommend that. The vegetables that came with it were also good. The sangria I got was good but definitely not worth the $12, especially for a 'diner'. If you skip the alcohol and just get food - it's a good hit. Been a few times. The parking lot is always packed. They don't take reservations but you can do call ahead seating. Call ~15 minutes ahead to get your name on the waiting list. This past visit was lackluster. The spinach and artichoke dip was lukewarm and nothing exciting. The whole are always good. They were cooked well and meaty. I just wish the hot and honey sauce was spicier. They were out of chocolate grace cake (which is amazing) so I ordered the banana cake. The layers are denser like a banana bread instead of lighter and fluffy like cake. I love banana bread so I thought it was great! The walnuts on top add a nice crunch but I wish there were some chopped nuts inside the cake as well. The chicken avocado cibatta sandwich is delicious but can get soggy and messy, so eat quick! It was a colder night and I wanted a drink to warm me up. But I was confused when the waitress said they weren't able to make a hot toddy (though they have whiskey and hot tea). She said "no, but the soups we do have are..." so I'm not sure if she knew what a hot toddy was? I'd be interested in going for their breakfast. read more

Was in the area and found this on Yelp. Place was packed at about 1:30pm on a Monday. There was a wait to get seated so I sat at the bar. Bartender was very efficient and proactive refilling my coffee when needed. All of the waitstaff seemed friendly and efficient I had the holiday turkey dinner served with mashed potatoes and white corn nibblets and gravy. There was a warm cranberry compote on the side. Unfortunately the meal did not have a lot of flavor. Wasn't bad but just needed a lot of salt and pepper. Coffee was fresh. Other items looked good so might have just been my choice. Based on cleanliness, friendliness of staff etc I would give them another shot the next time I am in the area. read more

I love this dinner but I am concern about the amount of dogs I've seen at this location recently accompanying so called handicap patrons. I'm an animal lover and all for dogs to assist the real handicaps or the blind.... but I suspect some of these folks are taking advantage of the system by calling their "purse puppies"........"service dogs". I for one do not want to eat with a stranger's dogs sitting and sneezing near me while I'm trying to enjoy a meal. This has to be some kind of health concern? read more

We went here with my mother and several of her 80+ year old friends. What a cool group of women. We had a great time. When we arrived, they seated us right away. As it turns out, our server was new and we were her first table. (She had worked at other restaurants before.) I have to say for her first day, she was terrific. We ordered a variety of things. Everyone had something different - their menu is pretty large. I was the only person who ordered drinks - ended up having two pretty substantial martinis. They did the trick. For an appetizer, I ordered their small hot wings (10 pieces). Kerrie and I were supposed to share, but I think I ended up eating eight or nine of them... They were not the best I ever had, but they were okay. They could have been hotter. And I don't think they made their own sauce. All-in-all, good but not great. For dinner, I had a club sandwich and fries. First, the fries were pretty good. I would not guess they were hand cut and they were coated in something. They were not very crisp, but they tasted good. The sandwich was very good. Again, not hand sliced turkey, but it tasted very fresh. Since it was December I did not expect the lettuce and tomato to be fresh picked, which they were not. But, the lettuce was crisp. The tomato was a little mushy. Very large portion which I (almost) finished. The drinks were really good and substantial in the amount of vodka they put in them. Stopped in after a blood test and was blown away by the place. It's similar to a New Jersey diner, except for a few things. People were nice. There was no picture of Tony Danza (or a beauty pageant winner of some sort) hugging the owner taped up on the wall by the cash register. Also, there was no crabby attitude or blank stares from the people that work there. So that was a bit of a curve ball. Feeling pangs for my beloved Midwest, I ordered the sausage gravy and biscuits plus some bacon. It was outstanding. It wasn't like you'd get in Indiana or Kansas City. It was something a little different but great all the same. The place had a bar in it where you could eat, booths and tables as well. The people appear genuinely glad to see you when you walk in.
