Everyone raves about this place so I had to check it out. You order at the front counter and the people working there are extremely friendly. Dion's is known for their pizza so that's what I indulged in, with green chiles of course!! What I got was two slices of crust with green Chile. There needed to be more sauce, more cheese. They did not slack on the Chile topping though I just say, there was plenty of that. I did need to ask for marinara sauce just to make it a little messier! The pizza was also luke warm when it first came out, like it had been sitting a few minutes. The Chiles I wanted to be hotter for being in New Mexico. Overall, I can't get green Chile pizza just anywhere so I would go back, but I would ask for extra sauce next time. read more

I absolutely LOVE this place!! Every year we drive to Texas and stop in Albuquerque on the way. We would meet up with some old friends at Dions. The service is amazing, everyone is kind and the food comes fast. I've only tried the pizza and salad but they are amazing! Salad is crunchy and fresh with lots of tasty toppings. Pizza is very customizable and tastes awesome. It really hit the spot recently when we were coming back from Texas through Albuquerque again. A week earlier, we had stopped to meet with friends there. This time, just my family of 6 at 9:30 after a long day of driving and a lot of hungry teenagers to feed. Go-to pizza in ABQ!!! Our family LOVES Dion's!! We stop here every time we go to Albuquerque, and they never fail to fill our tummies with delicious pizza and salads! My favorite is the Greek Salad! Yummy pepperoni and tomato pizza always hits the spot! The crew we had tonight was helpful and kind, even though we got there an hour before closing. I used to love coming here I've been coming for a very long time but then recently for no reason at the location of tramway and paseo they banned all the middle schoolers on the last friday of the year. Which doesn't make any sense because my daughter went there on Monday after school. As in addition to my daughter walking 20 minutes to get a late lunch and not being able to I ordered her some for dinner, and the completely screwed up her order. We don't get to see our Grandkids, or even their parents ( our grown kids) enough and really treasure the little time we do have together. DION's is ALWAYS a sure bet for a great meal and courteous staff providing everything necessary for a family gathering. On our most recent visit, shortly afternoon on Saturday December 2nd, 2023 - one of the DION's Staff, 'Jake' was especially helpful in making certain our table was perfectly clean for the seven of us. Additionally, 'Joshua' the store Manager made us all feel really welcome. Manager Joshua was so helpful that - (The Grandkids thought he was one of our friends and we were getting special treatment ). Another great visit to a really Great restaurant. We expect the food to be consistently spectacular but the staff make things even better. Super bummed about my experience at Dions. I ordered the Hawaiian with extra pineapple and extra green chile. I went inside to get my order and they said it wasn't ready, but they'd bring it out to my truck. So I went outside and waited. Nice lady brought my pizza to me and I left. I'm staying at the Comfort Inn off of Alameda and order from the Wyoming Blvd location, so not very far. Upon getting into my hotel And opening the box I discovered there wasn't any Canadian Bacon/ Ham on it all. I ignored the fact at first because they were busy and people make mistakes. However, upon bitting in to the pizza I discovered that the cheese was cool and barely even melted and the green chile was cold too. I grew up on Dion's. Ever since they started when they had wooden benches and delivered 40 years ago. They couldn't f--- up a meal if they tried! Sometimes I'll get a large special, a medium salad, and a 10" sandwich, and eat on them all weekend. If I had the money, and they wanted to partner, I'd suggest taking it across the country...! They'd blow Dominos, Pizza Hut, Little Ceasars and the rest out of the water! I feel like Dion's is supposed to be known for its pizza but I'm now obsessed with both the turkey sandwich that I tried last time and the chef salad that I ordered this time. If there was a half salad and sandwich combo, I'd be in heaven! Instead, I ordered the half salad and still marveled at the sheer size of it! It was easily enough for two meals and I can only imagine how many servings I would have gotten out of the full. I don't eat pork so I substituted turkey for the ham and bacon as well as the mix of cucumbers, onions and bell peppers. After my alterations, I was left with a salad of sliced turkey, shredded cheddar, sliced egg, tomatoes and croutons, which aside from not having black olives, included everything that I want on a salad. The ranch dressing continues to be among my favorite ranch dressings ever. Next time, I'll have to go back for my turkey sandwich as I didn't get a chance to get it on this visit but thankfully, Dion's is my boyfriend's favorite place and a must visit whenever we come to Albuquerque. We always make sure to bring home a few bottles of ranch and Italian dressing to San Diego too. read more

Dion's, a place where I will miss if I ever move out of the southwest U.S.A. Their pizzas are good with too much cheese for me, but their subs and salads are one of the most convenient delicious meals in my neighborhood. Service at this joint is non-existent since it is find your own seat and order at the counter kind of place, but the employees keeps this place pretty clean. We go here occasionally when none of us wants to cook and is not wanting to drive far for food. You can just call and pick up the meal from their drive thru pick ups. It is incredibly convenient and fast. One downside to this location is that during hte school semester as well as summers, week nights may get packed with La Cueva students and parents. But there is always a place to sit and eat. If not, you can always take it home and the food is just as fresh. read more

They have excellent subs (turkey and swiss on wheat with Greek dressing please) and specialty pizzas (the Kansas City, the Duke City) at a price that's more than fair. Dions reminds me of high school quasi-innocence, the innocence you see with small family businesses when they, too, are young, but as I grew into what I consider & good human being, Dion slid into hanging around wit the "wrong crowd." A number of years ago, I got hooked on New Mexican green chilies. I am not partial to the mild, but rather medium to hot. How can you come to NM and not eat green chilies? They have a very good crust that is great with pepperoni and green chili. The turkey sub is very good, as is the Greek Salad. A rule of thumb of how good a restaurant is can be measured by how busy they are at lunch. Give yourself some extra time, or call ahead for pickup (they have a pickup drive through) as they are busy. I been coming to this location for over ten years. Whenever I travel out of town my first stop in alb is always dions for green chile pineapple pizza. I crave and love the pizza. Best ranch ever! Walnut brownies bomb! Lemonade refreshing! Fruit cups inexpensive and include kiwi. I've had a few more experiences with Dion's since my original review and I have to up their star rating. Although our first experience was horrible, every experience since then has had amazing service and the food comes out hot and yummy. The only thing keeping me from upping this to four stars is that I did get a salad with chicken once and the chicken was borderline frozen (hadn't been defrosted long enough maybe?). From the time we land Albuquerque, my husband starts planning his first trip to Dion's. Dion's is our go-to place in Albuquerque. For my husband's birthday, his family mailed him all the ingredients in a cooler- that's how obsessed he is. I wish they had locations in Houston! The toppings are fresh and there's a great variety. I am a fan of Dion's. I like what they have to offer. Very yummy and fulfilling food. However, this particular location during school year, around 3-5 pm could become chaotic and loud with the kids running around like a madhouse. I know it is not their fault to have these wild, lacked of oxygen in the brain human beings running around their place. That is why i gave them 4 stars. We came here around 3:30 pm and I thought i was in a middle school cafeteria again...who here honestly wants to go through middle school again? Well on the bright side, I am glad those kids decided to come here and hang out rather than do stupid stuff or crack out there and get arrested. Food: spectacular as usual. I asked for 10 inch meat ball provolone sub and boy i tell you that thang was long, fresh, smelled good. Their meat balls were big, meaty and joocy. My coworkers with kids love Dion's. I had never been here before, but after visiting, I see why those couples with kids would favor this place. Seeing the pies being tossed in front of you is a spectacle any child would love. Heck, even as an adult it's fun to see the guy (or gal) expertly toss the dough in the air. Theatrical, you know? I was trying to figure out how to categorize this place. It has no wait staff, you pick your pies (or subs, or salads) up at the counter. No beer, no wine, just soft drinks. There's a substantial take-out business, which makes sense, because the pizza is pretty good (quality dough). The ambiance inside is certainly youth-y. It's not like an old-school Italian pizza parlor with Frank Sinatra playing over the speakers, instead, it's more like a more color palate-neutral Pizza Hut with Katy Perry playing over the speakers. On that note, I don't think anyone that works here is over the age of 25. The pizzas are good, as are the salads. Dressing comes in individual serving packs, but it's still OK. Haven't tried the subs, but everyone seems to love them. It seems like this place values quality ingredients. read more

It was busy It was my turn to pay for lunch, our salad was wilted our 2 large pizzas were missing green Chile, its disappointing because you pay a good amount for 2 pizza and salad. There is a Dion's, literally, on every other corner in ABQ, and I have yet to figure out why. The pizza isn't bad, but I'd rather order Pizza 9, or even Domino's. The restaurant really doesn't offer a great atmosphere either, so I wouldn't recommend dining in. With other pizza options available, Dion's pizza isn't worth the trip. While we have been long time customers of Dions's we have seen they have made changes to their salads. I ordered my usual ranch salad and it is no longer just iceberg lettuce, but is mixed with romaine, which did not need to be changed. The main problem is they have changed the croutons.
