I went to Dion's and had another nostalgic meal in New Mexico. This meal was another favorite to do list. I had a 6 in pastrami and provolone. It was good. Chips always as a side and their dipping Greek sauce. I remember this stuff to be good. It may be super tangy to the point when my mouth is dryer then the desert it is surrounded by. But I enjoyed it. I liked it for nostalgia and maybe if they had it where I live Currently I would have that over let's say--- any other fast food restaurant. I'm not sure why Dions doesn't have that great of ratings. I've been a regular at this location for over years. I take all of my out of town guests here; everyone has to try the turkey sub and the green Chile and pepperoni pizza. Yum!! I've dined in, but normally order takeout. The food is always consistent, made to order in the quoted timeframe and they have a drive thru pickup window. You don't even have to get out of your car to pick up delicious food. My order today hit all of my expectations (as usual). I like that they employ local high schools students. They and all the other employees are always friendly and helpful. read more

I'll preface this with some background: I grew up in NE New Jersey, where Italian-Americans make great pizza. Since I moved to western USA, I've yet to find comparable pizza except for a tiny pizza joint in WA state, and Dions. I've never had a disappointing pizza at Dions and they always get my order right. I just moved back to Albuquerque from San Francisco and I couldn't wait to get to dions! You can't go wrong on any level! The chef salad is superb! Hard boiled egg, chunks of fresh romaine, cold cut turkey slices, cherry tomatoes mmmm add some Greek and you have a party in your mouth! Growing up I always loved the ham and Swiss with green chile of course!! And the giant potato chips yum!! And of course a good o'l fashion pie! Large slices with perfectly melted mozzarella, robust tomato sauce, throw on some pepperoni and green chile too!! Try their house made ranch it's to die! And I dislike ranch!! I have always loved Dion's but now they changed their salads, new croutons (which are not good, instead of homemade taste now it is store bought taste) and on the chef salads they added bacon which at first sounded great but the bacon tastes like generic bacon. I'm a fan of this Dion's, I used to go to another Dion's but was so tired of them leaving me waiting even after I would call in my order, not to mention the rude cashiers. I placed an order for a meatball sandwich and my pick up time was 7:46 p.m. I live about 3 minutes away from this Dion's so I got there pretty much at that time. I was handed my order and drove home. when I started to take everything out of the bag it was a mess. there was marinara sauce all over the Box and inside of the bag. Whoever packed it didn't wipe anything off. This was the 1st issue. next when I started eating everything was cold. I was annoyed, but was starving so overlooked this. It wasn't until I found a hair in the box that I decided to review. This was obviously disgusting so I couldn't eat. $20 down the drain. No it wasn't my hair! Oh Dion's, I'm not sure why I keep giving you a chance to redeem yourself. Placed a carry out order for a 14 inch santorini pizza and full size Greek salad over the phone. The employee told us our order would be ready in 30-35 minutes. We arrived at this Dion's location, paid at the drive through window, and were told that our pizza wasn't quite ready yet. The employee told us to park across the street and once the pizza was ready the manager would bring it out to our car. We waited and waited and waited. Now, it's been almost an hour. An employee finally brings our pizza to us.....no apology or reason for the delay. We get home and try to taste the salad. All of the lettuce was a complete, soggy mess! It seemed as if someone washed the lettuce but forgot to dry it. All of the water had pooled to the bottom. Complete waste of money. The pizza was overcooked to the point where it was hard, extra chewy, and tasted burnt. A few weeks ago, we ordered food from this location and it was far better. I'm not sure why there are such inconsistencies in food quality and service at this location. Don't have high expectations if you come here to eat. read more

Even though I live on the westside, I still make occasional trips to this location just because their quality of food is consistent. I have always enjoyed the menu offerings and friendly prices at Dion's. I also love the fact that they offer whole wheat bread and green chile. I had one bad experience here a year ago. I ordered online and my order was completely wrong when I took it home. I called to explain the issue and they promptly apologized and gave me a voucher for a free meal. I really appreciate that they value their customers. The only reason they do not get a perfect score is because this place is a teenager hangout practically every night of the week. Ok, I'm a little biased...I won a pizza during a grand opening promotion when I was in Kindergarten (for those of you who remember in the pre-Wal Mart days, Dion's used to be across the street when there was mostly open space on the north side of town). I also spent several friday night's in high school hanging out in the parking lot of Dions. Dion's and Albuquerque have quite a history together, I have no idea how many of my freinds were employed by this great company at one time or another and go to any one of the locations and you can tell that the trend still continues and that several generations of high school kids in Albuq. get thier first on the job experience working for this fantastic company. Now that I'm adult the food is still as excellent as I remember growing up. I've moved on from Pizza and now I am a huge fan of the Turkey and Swiss with green chili. Thier Greek salad dressing that comes with the sandwiches is simply amazing. I will still get pizza every once in a while and a slice with peperonni and mushrooms is like being taken back in time to a period in my life when things weren't so complex. I'm not trying to be poetic here...my memories of Dion's are that good. read more

The only thing is is that there are actually 2 schools right by it, so i wouldn't suggest going there around 2 or 3 on weekdays. Nor would i suggest getting a pizza on any day from 530-7. I called in my order - 2 slices of pizza with ham and chicken, side of ranch and sweet tea. Got my order, got back to my office and was ready to enjoy a quick lunch. The pizza, had very little to no sauce, no ham and a few pieces of chicken on each slice. I did call and got a refund - which will take a couple of days. The first person I talked to did not seem to care that I was upset about my order. The manager was friendly and polite. the service stinks here---- we came in--group of 10 and put three orders in--the joys of going out with an extended family. my wife ordered two pizzas, one with anchovies--yes, i know, but i love the things. we were waiting and waiting. one of the group's order came up, and we thought we would be next, since we ordered in that order. the pizza for the third group came up and still none for us. i went over to inquire, and this had been about a half hour. they just found out that they did not have any anchovies--you think they would have told us ahead of time--or at least called us up and told us. they apologized, and offered to take it off the bill. told them just to double up on the other toppings. when it was finally done, went over to pick it up, and they had that one, fresh from the oven, and the pizza that my wife had ordered--which has apparently been sitting waiting for the other pizza. they said that it was probably cold---could not believe the comment. i told them to make a new one for my wife---fast, and have the manager come by. waited and waited, and still no second pizza and no manager. my wife ate some of my pizza--which was actually not bad, but she got filled up on it, and went to get a box for the left overs. she asked about her pizza--was going to either get it to go, or get a refund. at the same time, the manager finally comes over with the pizza, and apologizes about the entire matter, and gives us a gift certificate for the next pizza we order. if they knew what was going on in the back, they should have come to a screeching halt, made a fresh pizza---put it in front of every one elses, and the second it came out of the oven, rush it over to us. i dont know if i even want to give them a second chance. read more

Rating based on Pizza. From a person born and raised in Chicago and having had New York Pizza it's hard to find something in ABQ that compares to something like pizza in those cities. So I won't do that. By far Dion's thin crust and pan crust is the best I have had. Their 505 (Green Chile and Pepperoni) is something you have to try. All of this with their Ranch Dressing which I must say is great. Once you taste it you won't be disappointing. It is probably the best pizza in town. read more
