The usual pizza places that deliver were quickly ruled out. After browsing Yelp, she found a place we had never tried before Greenside. We loaded up the car and headed downtown. Another rare event happened, we found street parking just a short walk from the pizzeria. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by an enthusiastic and welcoming front-of-house staff. We quickly learned that while reservations aren't required, they're definitely recommended on the weekend. Fortunately, there were two seats available at the bar, so we happily settled in. Our bartender was incredibly friendly. After learning it was our first visit, she patiently explained how Greenside works. They offer one size of pizza, but you can split it into two different styles. After ordering a couple of adult beverages, we started with the Burrata appetizer and chose the Stockyard pizza. The Burrata arrived first, and if I had known it was going to be that good, I might have ordered a second one instead of the pizza! It was fresh, creamy, and absolutely delicious. When the pizza arrived, it smelled every bit as amazing as it tasted. The crust was perfectly cooked, the toppings were fresh, and every bite was outstanding. We couldn't finish the whole pie, so the staff happily boxed up the leftovers for us. During our meal, I had a chance to look around the restaurant. We definitely got lucky arriving when we did. By the time we finished, the restaurant, including the upstairs seating was completely full, and people were lined up outside waiting for their chance to enjoy what is clearly some fabulous pizza. I was surprised at the number of kids enjoying Greenside. The leftovers were just as good the next day as they were fresh out of the oven, which is always the sign of a great pizza. Needless to say, Greenside has earned a permanent spot on our list of favorite pizza places. We'll definitely be back again and again.

We started with the Hot Honey Margarita, made with tequila, orange and lime juice, house made hot honey, and smoked salt, and the Brined & Refined martini, a vodka based pickle martini with muddled dill and chive, pickle brine, and olive oil. Both were among the better cocktails we've had in Louisville. The Caesar salad followed, crisp romaine with a classic dressing and a solid cheese to dressing ratio, though a bit heavy on croutons. For pizza, we ordered the Prosciutto & Rocket, light and not overly sweet with a balsamic drizzle that added the right amount of acidity. We also built our own classic pepperoni pizza, and the NYC style sauce stood out immediately: tangy, well balanced, with a correct cheese to pepperoni ratio. Both pizzas were large, which tracks, since Greenside makes their pies in the traditional New York style with generously sized slices meant to be shared and taken home for leftovers! NYC style pizza is our benchmark, and Greenside gets the crust, sauce, and ratios right.
