Beautiful atmosphere, food was good, service was kind of slow. Steak arrachera had good flavor, unfortunately my black beans were cold and not tender enough. Steak empanadas are also a good choice. Took the server a while to clean up empty dishes and cups. Although the server wasn't as prompt as we'd like he was very nice and personable. This restaurant is too expensive for the service they provided. I made a reservation for 9 people and still waited 45 minutes to be seated and the restaurant didn't even seem to be busy. Our waitress spoke Spanish but chose not to with my family. She seemed to hate her job. The food was mid, my family and I will personally never be back here again. read more

I was able to visit on the second day they opened with a few friends of mine. The place is gorgeous and the ambiance was really enjoyable. One of the staff member (managers) Evelyn was attentive from the moment we walked in and provided excellent customer service. Our favorite was Michael, I believe he was Filipino. People attending were from nationwide and booked the place based on reviews and follow-up calls from the DIOSA management staff. Stella and the staff provided outstanding service and food. Diosa is aesthetically beautiful. The decoration would be delicious, if it was food. Too bad you can't take a bite out of the walls. Lol I met my friend for a moms night out and we were excited to be there. At first glance, we felt really underdressed as it seemed as all of the women were in dresses and heels and full makeup and we were in jeans and nice blouses, coming right after work. We said next time, we will dress up more. We were seated right away, but the stools at the high table we were at seemed far away from the table. I kept having to get up to scoot my chair in. The server greeted us and was really friendly. He told us about some drinks and the way the menu was organized. We decided on some drinks and they brought them out. We took a little longer on the food and he recommended that we both decide what to share because the plates would come out at different times and portions were large enough to be shared. We decided on the chicken mole and enchiladas poblanas with a vegetable empanada appetizer. The food took unusually long to come out. When it finally did come out, it was lukewarm. My mole was super salty and tasted like Mole Doña Maria. Actually, Mole Doña Maria tastes better. The chicken was dry and also super salty. It left me really thirsty. My friend said that her enchiladas tasted like enmoladas and they weren't anything special. The drinks were very tasty but had too much ice. We ordered another round and asked for less ice. When they brought them, the waiter had a whole explanation about how they would taste different with the light ice.. And they added extra lollipops inside to make up for the missing ice. It was strange. Our bill was really high; too high for a restaurant that shares a parking lot with a CVS drugstore and a Chase bank. If you're going to pay this amount of money, you're better off going somewhere where the food is going to be as good as the decor and you're truly in an upscale neighborhood. For good Mexican food, go down Firestone about two blocks to La Barca. They have way better food and service. Sorry Diosa, you were more like Diabla. Enjoy taking pictures if you do decide to come and waste your hard earned money here. That's probably the only thing this restaurant does well. read more

4.5 stars, realistically. :) We had a birthday party of 4 and dined by the open walls "outside," which was a nice surprise. Very Vegas/LA vibe. Most other patrons also seemed to be celebrating events, especially graduation parties in June, which I think is appropriate for the prices here-- high but not outlandish, considering the quality. With the "instagrammable" icon on some selections, were worried it may be a social media trap, but we were really pleased by the food. The mango-habanero aguachile, camaron taquitos, and pollo mole were especially phenomenal, but everything we ordered was excellent. Service was a little slow but this felt by design, our servers were very kind and attentive and it was nice to not feel rushed. We could take our time with our drinks and always had a plate to nibble on while we waited for the next, or for one of our servers to come back by. If i could give zero stars I would. Do not come here save your money and the hassle of your special celebration being ruined by horrible customer service and ridiculously over priced Mexican Food. Let me start by saying my friends warned me to not come! I read the reviews and thought to myself can it really be that bad????? We had reservations at 9pm for a friends bday, we walk in the restaurant was not busy, several tables available. We get seated after 20 mins. Waiter introduces him self he looks stressed and miserable. We asked for recommendations of most popular items and the response was "everything is popular " So we ordered drinks while we looked at the extensive menu. 20 minutes later our waiter appears and asked us if we were ready to order drinks ? I looked confused and replied we already gave you our drink order. Waiter looks confused and says oh ok let retake your drink order. Ok what ever we repeat our drink orders. 30 mins later our drinks come out, at least they looked cute and pictures worthy but tasted like cheap alcohol and cough syrup. Finally the waiter reappears to take our food order and by this time we decide to just order their salsa & chip appetizer and guacamole. Waiter then proceeds and says that's it that's all your ordering ? And I said for now yes we want to try our drinks and appetizers 1st. Appetizers come out small but taste good our 1st drink was gone, we had to drink it as drinks are expensive here and we wanted to try something else. 20 min pass by and our waiter has not come back to take our food order, by this time we decided we will go else where. The restaurant is cute and has a cute theme, but I'm not sure what experience they are trying to sell to justify súper over priced enchiladas and the most expensive Paloma I have ever had. Waiter finally appears and we request the check paid my $140 dollars for water, 2 drinks, chips and salsa and guacamole and left else where. To wrap this up I also say several unhappy customers having to continuously flag their waiters down. Ooof this place is a travesty. The menu had no direction. The drinks are cumbersome and watered down. They present themselves as a high-end Mexican restaurant, but most of the menu isn't even latin. I saw a cheese wheel pasta dish at one point. The food was nothing special especially for the price. I actually ate a cheaper meal at Javier's and it was 10 TIMES BETTER. the tequila selection was unimpressive. Service was quite awful. One of the managers was saying this restaurant got it start in Vancouver washington. That must be why the food is so bad. I'm sure there's not a big Latin influence in that area. This is so ca baby. The restaurant is beautiful. Can't take that away. But the service, food and drinks are not to standard unfortunately. The waiter mentioned, plating will be served as dishes come out, not all at once. So you go figure, is it right? With reservation, took 30 min b4 we were seated & another 20 min b4 taking our drink & appetizer order. Ridiculous. The appetizers were a joke, our guacamole was in a cup size bowl while the "queso" fundido was also small, came out COLD, no stringy cheese here!! Once drinks were served, they 4got 1 cocktail drink & after a couple of times requesting the drink we gave up & asked for water, lol. SERVICE was terrible!!!! We kept getting ignored or told, "we'll be right back", & when we requested silverware the napkins were damp with seafood odor. Definitely returned them and clean utensils arrived with paper napkins. RUDE!!!! My husband ordered Steak Arrechera which he did like, however our friends ordered Pollo al pastor, and Coco Risotto Salmon, which was warm and Salmon had an awkward taste. We had to taste it after her dislike and gesture. She was correct, bad salmon. I ordered a salad since the waiter mentioned the plating process. At the end, I ordered a coffee and they brought me the coffee cold with the milk in a plastic to go cup, and plastic spoon. I was in awe. Never will I go again here nor have my friends go. I come to Diosa frequently and tonight, 10/20/2023 on a Friday was the best time. Not only my company but the friendly and accommodating staff. Lily, the goddess girl is always so nice and excellent at making drinks. She makes you feel like she knows you. Javier the waiter was very attentive and friendly. Priscilla the manager is so engaging and friendly and accommodating. She goes to every table and has a genuine conversation. The food is outstanding, can't go wrong with anything on the menu. My husband and I decided to try Diosa for the first time on our 24th anniversary. Our first impression as we drove in the shopping center was great, until we parked. We immediately were greeted by a lady saying we couldn't park where we did because it was part of their Valet parking. I looked around and there was no rope or chain marking the valet limit, so technically they take over the entire parking lot when other businesses around Diosa are closed for the day. We usually wouldn't mind paying for valet but because I didn't think it was the best approach from her, I told my husband to just move the car to another spot. Once passed this incident, we walked in and I must say the place is beautiful! We had made a reservation online about 1 hour prior and arrived 30 min earlier. The hostess checked us in and we were then seated within 5 min. Our waiter/capitan was Rogelio and he was the most attentive person. He greeted us and said happy Anniversary to us. He asked if we've been there before and we said no. So he then proceeded to make recommendations of drinks and food and I must say, we were not disappointed! My husband and I both got the margarita flight, which were nice full size drinks, we also ordered the queso fundido as an appetizer and it was delicious. Our entrées were steak enchiladas con mole and a Mar y Tierra plate. We had no room for dessert but Rogelio was very nice and brought us two glasses of champagne and some delicious churro flavor ice cream w a candle to celebrate our night. This has got to be one of the best experiences ever. My friends & I decided to go there for dinner last night & from the start the hostess were really nice & professional being able to accommodate us after we had missed our reservation. Our server was amazing letting us know about the restaurant background & their most popular plates. We were a little disappointed that the drink we wanted was sold out buuuuuuuuuuuut as we were having our dinner one of the managers (Gilberto) approached our table to make sure we were having a nice dinner & without a doubt once aware we wanted a sold out drink he was able to get the drink for us making the experience extra special. I had been wanting to try this new spot in Downey and finally did a couple of weeks back. Be prepared for along review lol. I have to say that unfortunately, it was disappointing. I made a reservation, arrived at the location to find that there was no available parking so I had to use the valet. Went inside, and was seated after about 15 minutes. It felt a bit long, given the fact that I had made a reservation. Once we sat down, we were greeted by a staff member who shared a menu and said he'd return to take our drink order. The drinks looked great on the menu, but a bit on the pricey side. I don't know that there were more than 3 drinks below $20. Nothing against paying that much, of course, if the drinks are good. After a long, 15-20 minute wait, the staff member finally returned and took our drink, appetizer and dinner orders. This was the last time this person checked in with us the rest of the night. I would say that after about 20 minutes, we observed tables around us, who were seated after us, receiving their drinks. We then received our appetizer from the kitchen, which was the ahi tuna tower. Mind you, at this point, it's over 20 minutes, and we still haven't received our drinks. We SLOWLY worked our way through the appetizer, hoping to get our drinks before we finished it. Close to finishing, we flagged down another staff member, who was a highlight (I wish we had gotten her name), once we told her we hadn't received our drinks, she ran to the bar and started making them, with the bartender observing, which we didn't understand. Eventually, she brought our drinks, maybe slightly over the hour mark of sitting there. The drinks were in fact tasty, but nothing out of this world, honestly. Unfortunately, we eventually found out that we had received the wrong drinks on top of it all. The staff member was incredibly apologetic, and said that if I didn't like my drink, she'd replace it with the drink I ordered. Personally, I think she should have brought the drink I ordered regardless, but it is what it is. Again, at least she was helpful, right? Eventually, after about an hour and a half, we got our food: We got the Ribeye Parrilla ($65) and the Enchiladas Poblanas ($36). Neither are worth that amount of money. Honestly, not even close. You can get a vastly superior steak at Peter Luger's steakhouse in New York for about the same price. Here, the steak was cooked right, but lacked taste, or anything special, honestly. The sides were served in tiny dishes. If you're going to charge that much, make sure the steak is good, and if its not, you better pile on great sides. They did neither. The enchiladas, again, were fine, nothing special, and the sides were minimal at best, and clearly an afterthought. The Tuna Tower was definitely the highlight, but not sure its priced appropriately at almost $30 for the size of the portion. By the end, we spent well over $240 dollars, and were incredibly disappointed. The service was bad, the food was overpriced and mediocre, and we got the wrong drinks. Even worse, at the bottom of our receipt, it indicated an additional "2% for rising costs." We are great tippers, when deserved, and don't appreciate weird add-on charges. Costs are increasing for EVERYONE. If you cannot afford to run this place, then don't run it. No offense to the staff, who again weren't good, but you take those costs into consideration, particularly with everything being so overpriced. We walked out, gave our key to the valet, and he brought our car. I was ready to give him a $5 tip, only to find out that valet was an additional $10.75. There was no sign indicating this anywhere. Again, another surprise cost onto the customer. Finally, the decor is nice, but I feel as if the owners are much more interested in the aesthetics of the place, and not enough about the food itself or the service. At the end of the day, my impression is that Diosa is fine-dining cosplay: They want to give off the impression of fine dining, but don't have the food or service to back it up. If other restaurants charge that much, its because they deliver. Diosa did not, so we won't be returning unless we hear from trusted folks that there has been substantial improvement. Go grab a steak anywhere else, and grab some enchiladas at La Barca, Jalisco down the street. Two stars only because I feel bad leaving one. read more
