Buyer beware! This repair shop is horrible. In June I brought in my iphone 6 to get both my cracked screen and LCD repaired. The day I got it repaired, I had to come back three times because I couldn't hear people when I made phone calls. The man in the front tried to make me believe it was my fault and made up some story about my phone (which had never been opened since it was manufactured) lacking a shield. For the past 5 months, I have been experiencing issues with my phone's battery. It can literally remain dead on the charger for upwards of three days. Whenever I make calls the phone mutes itself at random. My siri no longer works, because the part they used to fix the screen apparently lacks a microphone. If you insist on coming to this shop, please ensure that everything works on your phone before you leave. Literally stand there and call people, make sure that your speaker works, make sure that your siri is functional, bring your charger and see that your phone responds to it. Honestly, it would be best to just go to Apple and avoid the headache. Sure this store will fix your phone quickly and at a lower cost, but there are no guarantees that it will actually be functional. Please note: if you come here and they "fix" your phone and you still have issues, Apple will no longer repair it for you. You might as well do it right the first time. read more

Perfect, no frills experience. I dropped my iPhone 5s, finally, one time too many, and the internal screen lit its last pixel (??). I wasn't too concerned (since I was due for an upgrade and the phone had already served me faithfully for 2 years sans accident) until I realized there were 400+ photos sitting on there that I foolishly had not thought to back up yet. Initially I headed to the Apple store where I was prepared to dish out $130 to replace the screen. However, they told me in doing so, it would run the risk of wiping my phone clean (and losing all 400+ of my finest selfies??). Although, funnily enough, the man I was speaking to said that "it rarely happens. About 50/50", which I was baffled by because either he is not familiar with the word "rarely" or he is not familiar with statistics or just #math in general. Anyway, it dawned on me to take it to an electronics repair shop and enter: Direct Repair! What a painless process. I took it in, with my $15 coupon in tow, and asked the man at the counter if my phone was salvageable to which he replied "of course". And then I expressed my concern about losing all the content on my phone (per conversation with the Apple employee) to which he replied "that's bullshit". You scoundrel, Apple!! Actually, I don't fault them for wanting to cover their asses should anything go wrong, but I still take issue with the Apple man's usage of "rarely". I hauled myself over to somewhere that served Miller High Life, had myself a nice little drink, and returned in a little under a half hour and lo and behold, my phone was ready and waiting for my arrival. My phone is in perfect working condition, it only cost me $75, and it only took as long as it took me to finish a Miller High Life. I'm just so chuffed about the whole experience that I told myself I was going to open a Yelp account just to sing their praises. So here we are. Yay Direct Repair! read more

I shattered the screen of his iphone and read about Direct Repair through yelp. I called before we went there and they said it would cost $40 and they could fix it there on the spot. There was a Yelp deal to Direct Repair, $30 for $50 worth of repairs so I bought that. My girlfriend and I got there and the service was GREAT! The man working had the screen ready, a friendly personality, and it only took about 3 minutes for him to fix the phone, making it look brand new again! Since we had $10 left of credit from the coupon, the gentleman said to pick out a case of choice in lou of the $10, which seemed to be extra generous! Even with it being a blistery winter afternoon, Direct Repair made it a great experience and well worth the rosy cheeks and frozen toes! :) We will be bringing our broken computer there next since they are our new miracle workers of electronics!! I tried repairing my iPhone 3Gs after the glass cracked and I did get the glass fixed but the parts I ordered from the internet had a bad light sensor (screen won't run off when you put the phone to your face when making a call). I looked at other places in the Chicago area and I heard great things on Yelp about Direct Repair. The service was fast, they took the phone, reported what was wrong and got everything fixed in less than 10 minutes. The quote price over the phone was more than what I actually paid. They also pointed out that the connector for the light sensor would require soldering in the future if I dropped the phone. But this would cost $75 and they would not recommend repairing it. Other places would probably be very aggressive in taking that $75. If you have a broken phone, this place is where you should go. read more
