Like may of you I purchased a used off-road rig and imagined camping and overlanding adventures during Covid. I overpaid and had little experience with the 4runner species but loved the ride and the simplicity. 6 years later I assumed the suspension needed rebuilding from all the squeaks I heard over every bump. Larry and another guy took ten minutes with a flashlight and pulled and prodded the entire steering and stabilizing system and showed me where the wear and tear had become a problem that the dealership just assumed was a shock problem. A 20 year customer. Service is done at some mystery location so there is no oversight. Had a routine oil change on my Dodge Eco Diesel 3 hours late Did not reset the oil life odometer! Then after a 50 mile drive I smelled something burning. The oil filler cap not installed properly ! Oil spray in engine compartment. Lucky my truck didn't burn. Larry is super knowledgable and good to deal with. BUT.... be careful who does your work there. I had a number of lights wired to an sPod. There was a perfect place to run up the wires from the back to the front along the frame, and tie into the sPod. For some reason, the guy that did the wiring thought it would be better to route the wires DIRECTLY above of the exhaust, right up next to the cat. I am dealing with cleaning up melted plastic wire harness tubing which melted in more than and few places and oozed down like lava. The once ribbed tubing is perfectly smooth in many places now. I have no idea how this did not start a fire but I am damn lucky I still have a rig to drive. Going to Re wire here and have a much more professional job and properly routed wires. read more

While I'm on Yelp, I'm reminded of when I came here last year looking for info on additional some lighting for a centra Baja trip. Was pretty set on getting some cheaper mediocre lights...and ended up ordering a set of Ridgid LED's! No hard sell, but they showed me the differences and gave me all the info. On our trip, ended up having to find our way to the coast on dirt roads at night a few times with no moon. Was so stoked I got the Ridgid's and not something less! Was able to light up the road/path and spot cattle / obstacles far down the road, and the many false turns/roads that waste so much time down there. I was told that no one in this part of town actually stocks Redline gear/motor oil. A quick look up and a phone call later, I found what I needed. It's a tad bit more expensive compared to shopping online but if you need it today, you can have it today. Autozone, Pepboys and the like usually stock just Water Wetter from Redline. But since Dirty Parts caters to a offroading, they have a good line up of Redline products. They even have switches by Carlin! Can you imagine that? Thumbs up from me. read more

Dirty parts in CULVER CITY sucks ass!!! I had the same problem last year from them giving me bad rear rancho shocks that didn't fit my truck and THEY DID NOT WANT TO REFUND ME!!! Today I called to see if I can get arb locker installed and they quoted me 650 bucks for labor (just locker no air compressor fitting)!!! pricing me more than what nissan dealer quoted me!!! the Nissan Stealer charged me $400!!!! so whats up with Dirty parts?? they charge me more than stealer??? + no refund for a rear rancho shock that they gave me wrong and won't fit my truck!!! While I was stubbornly pursuing an ill-conceived do-it-yourself strategy to wire a backup camera in my RV, I stopped in to see if they had a switch that I had convinced myself I needed. Showing Larry my home-made wiring diagram, he politely told me that I was going about it all wrong. After he spent quite a while trying to convince me of this, he somewhat reluctantly sold me the switch I asked for and I left. After trying to install the switch and blowing several fuses, I finally gave up and changed my strategy to that recommended by Larry. So I learned two things: 1) Larry is a patient guy who will take the time to explain what you should be doing, leveraging his substantial experience to help you. 2) Larry is much smarter than I am about automotive/RV wiring and I should have listened to him in the first place. Needed an alignment after adjusted my truck's coilovers. I had seen some IG users go to dirty parts and it seemed like an offroad specialty store so i gave them a chance. Called in to see before arriving to see if an alignment could be performed within reasonable time. They gave me the go ahead. I arrived before 11AM and i did not leave with my truck until 4PM. 5 hours for a two wheel alignment is outrageous. If they had cars ahead and of they should have given me some notification (hence why i called before even driving there). Two hours into the "job" i asked for a time estimate and they had to call "their shop"*, they told me by 3PM it would be done. I didn't see my truck again until 4PM. When my truck finally got back to the storefront**, i asked for the alignment spec printout which they were hesitant to give (any reputable alignment shop will hand you this printout without you even asking). They folded over the letterhead of the shop that dirty parts contracted the alignment job out to, and made a black and white copy of a color page so i couldnt even see the #'s anyway. I don't think the specifications coming out illegible was on purpose, but they definitely covered the shop name on purpose. I didn't make a fuss about this when i paid, since $130 is good amount of money for an alignment so i assumed it would be a good job. Once i started driving home i could already tell the steering was off center and it was pulling slightly to the left. I called the shop to notify them right away and they tried to attribute the pulling to my tires. This was horse-sh*t since my tires tracked straight before my coilover adjustments. Them trying to shift the blame, covering the shop name that actually performed the alignment on the printout, and not having an actual shop on site made me not want to even go back to the shop to let them get near my truck again. *They do not have a shop on site, they claim its off-site. I think they just contract their work out to some local shop. read more

These guys are awesome went in with my 1997 4 runner and also new to offroading. Im a young kid i wanted to lift my truck 6 inches i had all these wild dreams for it. Larry helped me and explained everything to me step by step. Ended up getting a 3inch lift and 33 inch tires and it rides awesome. I brought my truck back this week for a new front axle and whole new brake system. They got it in the shop for me very qucikly and it should be done today.
