We went tubing at the Comal and were looking for lunch afterwards and are glad we found Di's pizza joint. First I almost walked into her kitchen thinking it was a sitting down place but quickly realized that's where you order. Me and the family wanted to try somewhere new, especially since we just picked up my son from out of town. When we arrived the place was right outside the water park and the woman working was so sweet and very helpful. The menu was simple and we decided to order the Meat Lovers pizza. We were going to eat in the outside area but with the weather and with it being mosquito season we had to take it to go. Once we got home we dug in. But once we tried the pizza we couldn't help but notice it had a similar taste to Costco pizza. Even my son from out of town stated "I mean it good, but it's nothing I haven't already had". I was a little disappointed, since all the various pizza locations here in New Braunfels had great and different tastes. But who knows, maybe I need to try another pizza, but I really loved how helpful and sweet the employee was working there, plus they had military discount. This pizza is delicious! So good. Service not so much. It started out rocky but ended up being a nice experience. We had never been there before and were looking around and asking questions. She seemed put off by that and we didn't receive a sense of friendliness in the beginning. We decided to order anyway. She was hesitant to allow us to use the restroom to wash our hands. We didn't know this place does not have a dining room. We would never have gone had we known but then we would've missed out on a delicious pizza and garlic bread. I recommend ordering to go only. Stumbled across this hole in the wall gem on our vacation. The ladies there were super nice and friendly. We ordered the meat lovers pizza and sat outside to eat. Pizza came out fresh and hot with slices big enough for 4 people to share the 16". The pizza was incredibly tasty! Probably the best pizza I've had in a very long time. Saw this establishment while we were in line for the slides at Schlitterbahn. It looked so good we had to go! When I checked online, Google claimed they were closed but I have a quick call cuz Google has been known to be wrong about store hours. Turns out, it was open! The owner told me it had been sort of slow and she wasn't sure how much longer she'd stay open, and I asked if it would be alright to come since we were close by. She was really cool about it. We left our car in the Schlitterbahn lot and walked over and she greeted us as we arrived. She was friendly and made conversation while taking our order. We got an extra large, half pepperoni/half Hawaiian plus two soft drinks for $25. Not cheap but not a bad price and I'm happy to spend a bit more to support a small business. :) Our Pizza was ready reasonably quickly and very HOT. We had to wait a bit for it to cool down, which was hard because it smelled incredible. And omg it was sooo tasty. The flavor of the cheese was on-point, and she loaded the ingredients on-- yum. Definitely a thicker, doughy crust though. We sat outdoors where there was a few tables and chairs. No indoor seating available (no restroom either). Not sure why the good reviews. This is a crappy pizza. If you want a small pizza on a large crust this is for you. I went here 2 years ago and they were crappy, took another chance for the convenience and still crappy. Di puts toppings in the middle of the pizza and leaves the 2/3 surface area around the outside empty. You can see the pattern. Here is my pizza. It was not good. Go anywhere else to get a better pizza because these are not any good. Look closely at the pizza slices and imagine eating one. At the most only the center part will have ingredients and that is at most 1/3 of the whole slice. After a few bites you are eating crust with sone sauce. Also she leaves the door open so not sure how she keeps the flies out. They are probably snacking all over the place in that kitchen. read more

I didn't see in the reviews I read before driving here that this was an outdoor eating only restaurant. Which normally isn't a bother for me but it did explain why there were no vehicles in the parking lot at 4pm on Sunday. Beware, there are NO PARKING signs on every parking space in the lot because they share a space with a lodging establishment. This place has three spaces reserved right at the order window. Schlitterbahn water park is across the street. We walked up and ordered a Di's Supreme then sat at one of three tables in the parking lot. One table had an umbrella, but the Texas sun and the asphalt made it very uncomfortable. Within 5 minutes, I was as wet as the water park patrons across the way. If you enjoy screaming kids and looking at skimpy bathing suits on women and a few men, you're in luck. Two Partons were sitting at a small bar near the order window. After their departure, we took their stools. It was a little more covered from the screaming pavement heat and sun. The pizza arrived. Looked and smelled good. Tasted good. I like hand made pizzas. You get a little variety in the chef's interpretation of the dough. The dough was good and the ingredients fresh. The sauce, good too. Solid pizza. It was good, but I can't say I would drive the 25 miles to come here again. If you need a good pizza to take back to your air b&b while you drip dry from the water park, you will enjoy this place. I was staying in the condominium complex pretty much right next where Di's was located so I'd drive past this place pretty much every day. I decided to look it up on Yelp and saw plenty of glowing reviews for this place and so naturally, I had to give it a try, right? And plus, the people in my group had been wanting some pizza anyway. Looking at this place from the road, I didn't realize that this wasn't really a sit-down restaurant. My friends and I had actually come here expecting Dis to be a full service restaurant, but we found out that the restaurant was really catered for delivery and to-go orders. Stepping inside the restaurant, there's an order counter, soda refrigerator, and the kitchen. The bunch of us arrived here probably 8:25-8:30ish in the evening. Upon realizing that the only seating area was outside, two of us stayed behind (myself included) and the rest of us went back to the condo. Stepping inside to place an order, there were a couple of people ahead of us so naturally we waited for our turn. The man who was taking behind the counter seemed very nice but he seemed very overwhelmed since the phone kept ringing, and he had to help the customers at the counter, and at the same time preparing all the pizzas for delivery. After a few minutes, it was finally our turn at the counter. This was approximately 5-10 minutes after we had walked in. While we were waiting for the man to come help us after he was done doing whatever he was doing, the old lady who was making the pizza looked up and walked toward us from behind the counter/kitchen and without saying a word, walked past us to turn off the 'open' sign on the window. She then walked back past us, again without saying any word, to go back to the kitchen to make the pizza. Remember, this was a small joint and had my friend and I didn't move aside, she would have actually walked into us. I mean a little "excuse me" was that difficult. Also keep in mind that this was around 8:35-8:40 pm (they close at 9). She also started yelling toward her staff that they'd no longer be doing delivery and will no longer be taking orders. At this time, the customer who was in front of us came back in and asked, "do you all have ranch?" The lady quickly snapped at her "it's $1!" The customer had to explain that she had bought some salad and didn't get dressing and she wanted some. The man of course gave her the ranch without any charge. Anyway, we were still waiting to place our orders and the phone kept ringing and they apparently still had time to take a couple more orders over the phone (while keeping us waiting to place our order in the restaurant!) before the man finally had some time to help us. We were finally able to place our order: one meat lover, one pepperoni pizza, and two cans of Dr. Pepper. The cost? A little over $40. We waited maybe 30 minutes until our pizzas were ready and we brought them back to the condo. Let me just say this, the pizzas were pretty good, but I wish the lady would've spread the sauces/cheese/toppings on the dough more evenly because there were large portions of crust that didn't get covered. The pizzas themselves were pretty good, but were they good enough for me to want to give this lady my business again? Nope. Reading through the other reviews on here, I did see a couple of reviews mentioning about how rude she was, and plenty of reviews that are for delivery only. To be fair, if this had been a delivery order, my review probably would've based just on the pizza alone. However, since I actually came into the restaurant and had to experience the rudeness and the long wait time and having my order taken after all the phone orders, then it's fair to say that I'm never going to be ordering from this place again. I'll spend my $40 on Domino's or Papa John's and I'll probably get a whole lot more pizzas. read more
