Beware of this company. I am now dealing with a lawsuit with them. They quoted thousands to the insurance company. Their goal is to quote high and then do as little work as possible. They will paint for you but use the lowest quality paint and won't even cover the floors. They will build cabinets but the installation will be misaligned. Be very cautious before signing anything with this company. In our experience, they do not prioritize proper customer service or accountability. We hired them to clean our household items after a small fire incident that left everything smelling like smoke. Unfortunately, many items were returned in worse condition than when they left. Most concerning was the damage to our classic Victorian-style couches, which we've had for many years. The fabric was completely ruined during their cleaning and reassembly process. Rather than taking responsibility for the poor-quality work, the company refused to acknowledge their mistakes. Instead of offering a reasonable solution or compensation for the damage clearly caused by their staff, they hid behind the contract and dismissed our concerns. We were not asking for anything unreasonable only for them to cover the damages they caused. Their unwillingness to take accountability and their lack of care for our belongings was extremely disappointing. I strongly discourage anyone from hiring this company. Incredible Work on a Tough Job We had a major project on a 1955 home with toxic asbestos adhesive under heavy marble flooring throughout the house. Pedro, the lead worker, went above and beyond--removing all the flooring, discovering hidden toxic spots, and making sure everything was safely removed and sealed. He even took care of the old cabinets and fully sealed the house during the process. Pedro was friendly, hardworking, and clearly cared about doing the job right. Post-project testing showed the home was completely clear of asbestos. While management was a bit slow to coordinate, the crew--especially Pedro--was top-notch. Highly recommend! read more

RUN, don't walk away, from DKI. They spend more time communicating and exaggerating through their Yelp replies than during their actual service. I'm glad some Yelpers on here received 5-star service, as I wish my family and I did; however, we unfortunately did not. Sometime during the bad storms a year or so ago, we called them to help us with a mold incident and they abruptly vanished from the worksite without so much as a word on why. For the price, we expected dedicated and high-quality service. They don't answer phone calls, voicemails, or other messages (even a visit to their office in person won't get an answer). We needed mold remediation in our Living Room. DKI had us execute two contracts--remediation and reconstruction. Each one demanded a down payment of $1,000. Early on, I scheduled a joint meeting with the supervisors of both contracts. Both Zachary and Cody agreed to the date and time, but when I arrived at their office, both were mysteriously out on a job. No apologies or explanations. Several times during the weeks-long process, with no notification or warning, nobody would show up to work on either contract. Locating a decision-maker with a straight answer was a constant problem. In general, the workers were efficient and motivated, but the supervision was chaotic and costs were exorbitant and never clearly explained or justified. Not sure why this company only has 3 star reviews, but I can only give my experience with them. Here it goes.. I was referred to Disaster Kleenup from my insurance company Farmers. We had a water leak in our home and it damaged my floors and drywall. Rodney was the first to arrived and sucked up as much water as he could before the demolition. Rodney was professional, communicative and knowledgeable. Rodney, Alex and Jeremy came the next day to remove all the water damage cabinets, floors and drywall. They did an awesome job scraping off the glue from the floors. The flooring company was impressed and were thankful that a lot of the glue was removed. All three of these gentlemen were hardworking and professional. If you have these guys working in your home, take care of them. We bought them lunch while they were here to show that we appeciated them. I would highly recommend Rodney and his team. Thank you DKS! read more

Update. Megan's comments overlook a couple things 1. that Initial sampling of the debris showed that asbestos content itself was below the thresholds for concern. Still they insisted that there was risk. 2. It took almost 3 months despite my protests and questions to convince them to prove it by insisting they hire a third party. When that was done they pulled out faster than ants after a picnic. 3. Yes, the insurance company is slow but only because the estimates were going through third party peer reviews of their very high costs. 4 I saved a ton of money using local carpet company and drywall contractor to do repairs for a fraction of their estimates. read more

Charged insurance thousands of dollars for kitchen leak basically came in dried it out ripped out half the cabinets, countertops and floor. Left plastic up closing off kitchen and even had a portable toilet delivered that was never used and we had to call to get it picked up. And never came back to finish the job! Hard pass. Called these folks and got passed to "Amanda" who turns out to be the COO according to their website. She hung up on me because I said "ok" a little too loudly when she couldn't hear me the first time due to bad cell reception in a windstorm. She turned on a dime and shreiked "we'll call you back" and hung up. I called back and tried to confirm what that meant and was put on hold, she never picked up. Then I called another person in the water mitigation department, got passed back to Amanda who had to speak to me. She denied hanging up on me and then refused to take my (substantial multi tens of thousands of dollars) job and informed me I needed to call another company. Because I said "OK" too loudly for her tastes. I asked to speak to anyone else, and got just "NO." Asked to speak to the owner Theresa Ream and got just "NO" and then hung up on again. WOW! Update: their "comment" is silly. Wish they recorded the call. He handled the abatement professionally. Company ripped me off marking up sub contractors work by 300%. Contract terms signed by myself the customer and DKS was to be 20%. A sub working for them confirmed from other jobs of shady bids they put into the insurance companies and clear evidence they were doing insurance fraud. DKS will be like flys on crap if you owe them any money for work but will never return your call if you have issues or found a disaster in their work, need permit information, or have questions about incorrect billing that favors them but not you. Everything in my house done by DKS was a total disaster and not to code. Building inspector called out much of their work done not to code. I had to pay other contractors to do it right since DKS never returned my call!!!! Majority of positive online reviews are done by their employees, so beware. Very suspicious. These guys can't even set a kitchen wall plum. Was 1.5" out of plum! How hard is it to grab a level to verify plum!!!??? For the ridiculous price they gouged me with putting up a simple 4'x8' wall it should have been at the least straight, square and plum. Carpentry 101. We had substantial damage to our house from the rain and wind storms during the beginning of 2023. DKI handled part of the work with our Insurance Company and part direct with us. We had a pipe break under our house causing damage to the subfloor, insulation and mold. The plumber came out immediately and stopped the link and suggested that we call disaster kleenup specialists immediately. Their response time was amazing. They came out, set up dryers, cleaned out damaged insulation and worked with our insurance company to ensure that as much of the disaster as possible was covered. Once the drying was done we were sent to another department in the company that facilitated the mold cleaning, and once that was done, another department took over and got the insulation replaced. It should be noted that the timing was a little frustrating for all of us as the holidays were coming, crews were out sick, and it had started to rain! Throughout the entire process everyone from the company was patient and very professional! When our job was done I had to go by and sign the checks from our insurance company as they were made out to both myself and DKS. While I was at the office I got to chatting with the staff and learned a lot about what the scope of their work is. I have to say that when a pipe breaks under your house, it is in most people's minds a major event. After hearing everything this company does we are even more impressed with the personal attention, patience and professional approach our job got! This is just a rebranding of Ream Construction. 15 years ago I hired them to remodel my kitchen. I paid in full. Three months later went on vacation for a week and when we returned there was a notice in our mailbox that they had put a lien on our home. They said we didn't pay in full. Turns out the contractor made an addition error. It wasn't our fault. I wrote the check only after he apologized. Fast forward to 2021. I thought I'd give them another chance. I paid in full 2 weeks before the job was done. They lost track of the payment completely. At least this time I was available to take their call so they wouldn't penalize me for their error. My water heater went out (on a weekend of course!) and my landlord left it in my hands to have everything taken care of. As if being with hot water wasn't stressful enough! I called Disaster Kleenup and immediately felt like I was in great hands! The project manager was out within the next hour, and equipment was set up once the water heater was replaced and the area was dried out so we didn't have any concerns with mold. Our toilet broke in the middle of the night and I did not find out until I put my foot in two inches of water the next morning. We had water down the hallway, two bedrooms, the living room and kitchen requiring removal of the walls up four feet. That was when they found the asbestos in the sheetrock. Our insurance company USAA was great, and called in DKS. They started the job, removed furniture and water, took care of the asbestos abatement and then Covid hit. From that point,everything was like running through Jello. Everything came to a halt for a year with us living with no walls and no floors, no kitchen, cooking utensils or stove. As things got moving again, DKS was great about keeping us abreast of what was happening. Their communications were great, they were good about meeting appointments and explaining what needed to be done next. They were also patient with us as illness and other long postponed events got in the way of getting everything done as quickly as they could have done them. We are happy with the work they did for us and recommend them to anybody who finds themselves with a disaster on their hands. DKS will get you through it as painlessly as is possible. read more
