The facility needs a bit of a face lift. This is one of the older indoor ranges in San Diego. It's not terrible but the range could definitely use some TLC. It's on the quieter side though, so if you don't want to wait long to shoot this is a good place to go. The rentals are average. I prefer to bring my own supply anyways. This range allows rifles and pistols. The ventilation in the rifle area could use a little work. I was sweating up a storm shooting my AR-15 in there. Give it a try if you just want to get some quick target practice in. read more

He was everything you could hope to get when it comes to a sales associate very nice, patient, informative and he was also friendly and funny. Utter idiocy to charge $5 PER PERSON just to reserve a lane online on top of the lane fee! So, you've got two people using ONE lane... $5 to reserve ONE lane and you're gonna charge $5 per person even though its only one lane? Absurd! This is SUCH a fantastic facility w wonderful staff. I'm a member and use the range regularly, have purchased firearms and ammo at both the Santee location and the San Diego one. My shooting league for women meets at the San Diego faculty too. The staff is SUPER knowledgeable about all their offerings, have been a great education tool for me on many occasions. I started a firearm purchase right at the beginning of the corona virus nightmare lockdown, and even had to navigate their online waitlist and such. They've been so helpful and gracious thru it all. My background check was taking extra long from the DOJ (which was claiming they were backed up....) and Thos who manages their social media was incredible at communicating to me when I asked questions and needed some help so I wasn't just standing in line outside the store hoping to get my purchase finished. As most other recent reviewers I bought the yelp deal. My friend had never shot a gun before so I thought it would be fun. It was like it sounds: a shooting range with guns and ammo. The employee checking us in did a good job and was friendly. He made a few recommendations on guns to try and gave us a quick demo. After making sure I wasn't a felon or a maniac we went to our lane. I think there were approximately 8 to 10 lanes and it wasn't packed. We shot the zombies in the head and crotch (the targets) had some fun and then left. The guy at the counter gave us some pointers on guns to try in the future and was friendly. Overall I'd go back, it was fun and the place seemed to run pretty efficiently. read more

This was my first time at a gun range (grew up on a farm in ND so no need for a range) and I was very very pleased with the fantastic experience we had here today. Two of my girlfriends and I went to the range and had a great time. We had a good instructor who gave us all the basics of gun safety and how to correctly shoot. As far as the Gun shop goes they have a fair selection and competitive pricing, and if they don't have what you want they will order it for you. The range is nice, the electronic target system is really nice because you don't have to guess your distance, you plug the distance in and off you go. Great place to shop and or shoot read more

Staff I worked with were great, they made the process very easy. However, this store (at least for my purchase) was pretty over priced. By more than $140 compared to the GS. Reserved a lane online for 3 people we showed up got checked in and were shooting within 10 minutes. I bought the yelp deal for my husband and I to have a little fun. Both of us are novices but the patient tutorial by Dave at the San Diego location was great. I thought we would both have our own gun, amo and lane but we had to share. It was ok though we each shot 3 different targets and it was plenty. It's pretty loud in there. I suppose it can be a little intimidating in there..... all those guns and people with guns but Dave made us feel comfortable. We had reservations but for some reason they didn't have a record of it but they were able to accommodate us. If your looking for a new adventure and you've always wanted to feel what it's like to shoot a gun. I say go for it and this is a great place to do it. We asked about prices afterwards in case we wanted to do it again. Dave gave us a pass for a free lane the next time which would save us some money. I also bought a Glock 17 at a competitive price, from a friendly salesman who did not make me feel like an idiot for being an obvious n00b. THIS IS NOT A FRIENDLY STORE...!!!! I have visited this Santee store THREE TIMES and each time DID NOT get service. The purpose of the visit was to purchase an AR-15 and some ammo. After waiting some 20 minutes each time, and being completely ignored, I made a comment about being a new customer and would find someone else, or someplace else to by my gun stuff. The guy plinking on the computer, who I assumed was a store employee, and with no customer in sight, said, "it takes 20 to 30 minutes to get served here... Be advised: Memberships are difficult to cancel. Paper-based signup, email-based cancellation. Business does not respond to cancellation requests. Expect lack of response or ambiguity as to the Point of Contact for billing issues. Credit card charges will recur after requesting to cancel. I purchased a membership for a few months from Discount Gun Mart. In April 2018, I requested to cancel the membership in-person at their store. The associate behind the counter nearest the front door gave me a business card and wrote memberservices@discountgunmart.com and said to send a request to that email address. On May 2, 2018, I submitted an email to request cancellation. The email was not returned, and I was unable to determine whether the request was received or acknowledged. I received a credit card charge for $44.00 on Jun 11, 2018. I called the store and asked why my credit card was charged. The associate could not help me at the time, and gave me the same email address as before. At this point, the charge is in dispute and will take 60 days to resolve. In the meantime, Discount Gun Mart may charge my credit card at least 2 more times unless I order my card issuer to initiate charge-backs for the automatic payments. If the charge stands, I will close the credit card account. This outcome will negatively affect my credit rating. I request a charge-back of $44.00 to my credit card. I request Discount Gun Mart stop auto-payments on the credit card. I also request the business delete all billing information on file. All 3 of these requests must be met for the desired outcome to be satisfactory. This information has been posted to the Better Business Bureau of San Diego. There is 1 similar complaint against this business for the same issue. read more

Love this store I have five kids and me and my husband went in to buy guns and it went super fast he was able to sit in the car I bought mine did my paperwork turned around and he did his all in a matter of less than two hours and that was during a big sale. Went in a couple weeks ago for my first time shooting. From the moment we walked in Tim was very helpful. We rented some handguns, purchase ammo, targets, eyes and ears all for a great price. I was able to try out a couple different hand guns and was able to decide on one I liked. Not knowing where to start with a purchase I ask Tim and he was very eager to help with every part of the process! I took the test right then and there (27 out of 30 on my first go around with no prior knowledge, mostly common sense questions with a few legal questions.) So on to my first handgun purchase. It was near closing time, and apparently this item was not in stock in the Santee location and needed to be brought over from Morena, OK no problem. Tim said that we would be called the next morning with out date and time of pick up. So now begins our problems.... Next morning comes and by 12 no call so I call to check, no one has an answer and i'm asked to call back at a later time. Call at 5 and was told they only go to the Morena store once a week and they had just picked up my handgun and would process DROS once it was added to stock. (ALREADY 1 DAY ADDED TO THE 10 WAITING PERIOD) Was told I would receive a call back shortly after with my Pick up date and time... 9pm comes that night no call..... So I call Friday at Noon, get VM, kindly request a call back and by 5 pm I haven't heard back yet so I call again. It looks like someone had put my gun in the safe but didn't process DROS. (NOW 2 ADDITIONAL DAYS ADDED TO THE WAITING PERIOD). The said they would run it immediately and give me a call back with my exact date and time for pick up. NEVER HEARD BACK! I had to call again Monday and get my date and time for pick up and the person on the phone was very rude and acted as if I was inconveniencing them calling about my ~ $400 purchase that I have received no information about. Finally receive my date and time for pick up. I call the day before my date and time to verify all items I need to bring for pick up. I finally get to speak with Tim again and he was very helpful with making sure I understood what I need to bring. Finally! The day I get to pick up my new handgun! I walk in and I was told some one would be with me in just a moment... There is a woman at the counter and she just looks at us for a while and finally says "Can I help you???" I kindly say "I am here to pick my purchase." and we stand there awkwardly for a moment before she says with a tone "Well can I have your ID?" ( Could have easily said "Great! Can I get your ID please?" after I told her I was here to pick up...) She goes back and grabs my gun and comes back, asks if I have my 2nd proof of residency. I give her a copy of my bills and she asks about the service address and I pointed to the 2 locations the address is listed, shes snaps back about how it is supposed to say service address, (Well I don't control what they put on the bill, I just get a copy each month.) She accepts the copy of the bill we finalize the transaction and we depart. My husband and I were not too thrilled with out experience here. We were very hopeful as this was a location on our way home and could be our place for future firearm purchases, ammo purchases, and our everyday range. I am not too sure that we will be very eager to go back to this location... We has scheduled a range day with friend for the weekend I should have received my handgun had everything gone according to plan. We had to cancel that. I hope they are able to work their conflicts out so other customer do not have to deal with this. I do want to thank Tim again for all of his assistance. He was also very kind to price match and beat another competitor that had the firearm cheaper than the original listed price. read more

So this is an update long in the making. I have since been back to this gun shop to have new truglo night sights put on my Glock 27 (they did it for free) and also to have Pearce magazine extensions added (which they also did for free, and it is a pain in the ass to do). These people really care and love guns and their customers. Ammo is pricey so I will stick to Walmart but if I ever need to purchase another firearm I will always come back here. read more

The staff here and at the Morena blvd location are pretty useless. (except for chris I think his name was, he was the only one i talked to that seemed like he was actually trying to resolve my problem). I signed up for a freedom membership last year, after a month or so i relocated to a different part of the county. Not being able to use my membership at both locations (kinda odd) forced me to end my membership. I'd only used the range for a month so no biggie cancel pay the rest of that month and be done. Well DGM wanted me to pay for the WHOLE year.. ummmm NO! After a week of trying to get ahold of anyone who deals with the memberships I just called chase and disputed the charge. TWO months later some guy named Kevin I think calls me and starts talking to me like he's returning my call from the day before. Informing me that it's against policy to cancel memberships blah,blah,blah. I inform him I've already taken care of it with the bank, after that I didn't really pay attention to what he was sayin, it seemed he was trying to bait me into an argument. I again informed him I'd taken care of it already with the bank and to have a nice Friday. Well here we are a year later, not only did they charge my credit card AGAIN but I'm getting the same BS trying to talk to anyone about how to get reimbursed. This place is great! Here are my reasons: The employees are VERY friendly and knowledgeable. I am a woman with limited gun experience and knowledge and they treated me very well, not like it's some secret boys club ... ladies, you know what I'm talking about. I actually ended up buying a pistol and a rifle here, rather than online SIMPLY because they were so nice. I learned so much from Ken and Jaey. But all of the employees I've encountered are equally courteous. This is a great place to walk in, rent a gun and shoot with friends or family. You have to take a quick gun safety quiz but other than that it's very easy and fun to shoot here. The one thing that would make this place even better is if you could shoot shot guns and high power rifles here (only pistol caliber rifles are allowed at this location). This is the closest range to my house. I have not shopped here so I cannot speak to that but the lanes are good and not terribly expensive. You pay for the lane not the time so you can kind of take your time when you're in there. Limited to handgun calibers. read more

The facility is very nice, the service is horrible. The last time I was in, I asked for assistance and was asked to wait while the three guys behind the counter BSed with one guy about his AR build...15 minutes later they asked if I needed anything. The Price: After searching around at all the local firearms shops for the best price on the Ruger 10/22, we confirmed that Discount Gun Mart could not be beat. El Cajon Gun Exchange's price was $270 and Big 5 had their's on sale for $240. Discount Gun Mart's price was $230, and that's not even the best part! Upon checking out, the guy gave us an additional $20 off each rifle making it a total price of $210, a clear winner! The Service: Along with a great price came excellent service. All our questions were answered to fullest. We had come in to the shop earlier in the week not knowing which .22 we wanted, but the gentleman who helped us sold us on the Ruger 10/22 by the time we walked out the door. Overall, the service gets an A++! The Range: We came back a few days later anxious to shoot the ruger 10/22. They have a good selection of firearms that you can rent, and for a fair price. The range is for firearms that shoot pistol caliber rounds only. They have a nice target system with electronic rails that take your target down range for you. The maximum distance set the target back is 48 feet. I can't remember the exact number of lames, but I know there was at least 9 because we were on #7 and there was more then one lane to our right. The only down side to the range is that they require you to buy the ammo there. This is not enough to knock a star off though! A Final Tip: Since they have a range right in the store, if you buy your firearm from them you can shoot it all you want during the 10-day wait period! OVERALL RATING: A+++ read more

Well staffed, great range (everything works!), reasonable prices. There was a wait, but to be expected on the weekend. Even bought some supplies and seemed reasonably priced.
