Horrible customer service!!! Representatives working the counter are rough playing behind the counter in front of customers like if they were little kids. The level of professionalism is not even measurable at this establishment. I don't understand how can they hire such immature guys work at a place with fire arms; guys like the ones working here give gun owners a bad name. The heavy weight Hispanic guy with a comb over hair cut has the worst customer service skills out of them all. I must've seen him pinch, punch and literally grab other employees busts at least 10 times in the 1.5 hrs that took to complete a PPT. This guy has never been taught any manners. The other Hispanic guy there, skinny with a hair messy then when I wake up after a night of heavy partying, is clueless on what he is doing. He asked for help every 30 seconds during our 1.5hr PPT. During the whole process he was more concerned about telling us the story of how DGM was having shady employees and that's why they fired everyone and they hired them. This place is a JOKE, no one here is knowledgeable about firearms nor knowledgeable regarding PPT's. During my 1.5hr transfer I experienced how all these guys were pressuring new gun buyers into buying unnecessary accessories for the newly purchased guns. Avoid at all cost!!! This was my very first time at a gun range, although I've been trying to go for years. And, it was an awesome first experience. The staff who helped us was very friendly and helpful, especially when I jammed the gun a few times since I was a novice. They seem very concerned with everyone's safety and I would definitely go back for another gun-shooting experience. A couple of things to note: you must go in pairs of 2 to rent a gun and one person must have a valid California driver's license. read more

Horrible place. We usually go to P2K where they have fantastic people. They were closing early, so we went to Discount Gun Mart to use their range. The manager was rude and degrading to my older nephew and then tried to scam us into paying $20 per scratch/holes on target holders for scratches we didn't put on them. It was plainly obvious by the size of the holes and the guns/ammunition we were using that we didn't do it. What a racket. What was supposed to be a good time for my nephews and father was ruined by the management. Go somewhere else to use the range. read more

Great indoor range out in Santee. Super clean, helpful staff and good pricing.

Staff was inviting and knowledgeable. This store was considerably less crowded compared to other shops in SD. The range itself is a little cramped, but for an indoor range it was pretty nice. Each lane has a digital control so you can put your targets at exact distances which I thought was pretty snazzy. The wait, price/value make the drive out to Santee worth it. read more

I am not a fan of guns....I AM a fan of food...but my friend thought it would be a good idea to go to the range. I have never been so I thought, "why not!"....So she picked the place and we were off to the Discount Gun Mart in Santee. We were greeted when we walked into the store by very well dressed and nice employees. That's always a good sign for me. This younger looking guy approached us, I think his name was John. He was really understanding that, one I have never fired a gun and two, I have never liked guns. So he helped us pick out our firearms and escorted us to the range. He was very informative about the firearms that we were going to use, and the ammo. I don't know about my friend, but he totally put me at ease. He taught me everything that I needed to know on how to handle a gun. Thanks to him I will be returning. I bought a Yelp deal to go shooting and it was really fun. The first time I went there was a long line (middle of the day Saturday), so I left.. but I went during the middle of a weekday and it was great (no line). The man who worked there really knew his guns. I don't shoot that often and I brought my girlfriend so I had to fake it like I'm a real man who shoots all the time and knows guns like the back of my hand (couldn't be further from the truth), anyways, the guy was really cool, played along and answered all of my questions man-to-man, I'm just happy my date didn't have a better shot than me... that would have been embarrassing. read more

I am only giving them a 4 instead of a 5 because I have been to physically nicer gun ranges, but I will choose Discount over those ranges any time. Yes they may not be newly built, or newly remodeled but you can't beat it. I was actually given a membership to another local range and have not used it yet because the non-member prices at Discount are cheaper than the member pricing at the other range and the wait times at the other range are always ridiculous. Took my 2 kids shooting here. It was my 9 year olds first time shooting a .22 rifle. The staff was pleasant and helpful. With multiple people shooters on each lane the standing area became a bit crowded, yet tolerable. Great experience. read more

Ok so for those who shoot. Going to a range where the workers know a thing or two makes me feel good. And I have to say DGM knows a thing or two... maybe three. They were super helpful with not only my wife and I but my mother in law also. That's right... good ol American family past time. Gotta love it. The lanes are clean and they have a variety of guns you can rent if you want to try something new. So far the people that frequent the range are as friendly and knowledgeable as the staff. Whether you have shot before or it's your first time... I'd recommend DGM. In fact I'm headed over there tonight... my trigger finger itches. read more

I went there on a Saturday night with few friends after a big dinner. The worker there are very friendly. It was my first time in the gun range, I'm just glad my friend knows what he is talking about. I don't know about the price since I never been in a gun range before, my friend said it is a bit on the expensive side. There are about 8 lanes, I think 3 of them are used by police officer. This place is a great. The staff ard young and friendly, and not a lot is required to start shooting. Heads up though, if you want to shoot by yourself, look elsewhere because you need atleast 2 people in order to shoot. That's what they told me anyways. It could be because I'm not a member, I 'm not sure. I spent about 80 bucks renting a small glock, two targets, 100 9ml rounds, 2 eye protector and 2 hearing protection. I took my date here and she had a blast (no pun intended). They close at 10 which is pretty late too. I definitely recommend this place. Im giving ita four star though because I thought the price was steep. Other than that everything was great. read more

One of many yelpers who jumped up and did the first time shooters deal. I have handled a handgun but it was years ago. It was my friend's first time ever. The guys behind the counter gave us a once over of a 9mm before hitting the lanes. Extremely helpful and courteous, even on a prime day of the week. Plus we were able to reserve a lane unlike other ranges (although this was probably part of the yelp deal). My friend and I came out very confident and at ease using a deadly weapon. I would definitely do business with them again and recommend them to anyone in the area. read more

Good service but nothing amazing. It's the cheapest range in San Diego but also one of the smallest. If it was a little longer and you could shoot high powered rifles and shotguns it would get 5 stars. I think the highest caliber allowed is .44 mag and the furthest you can shoot is 49 feet. If you're looking to shoot at 25 yards and over, you'll have to go somewhere else. Also, not sure why you can't shoot steel cased ammo? Probably because the range can't get any money for the casings. Decent selection of firearms, small selection of everything else. read more

After a bad experience with an indoor range elsewhere in San Diego, I found this one in Santee. It is clean, and run by people who don't have that typical "gun store" attitude. Wow, went back for a second visit and the entire store has been totally redone and the shooting ranges are all redone and its SO MUCH BETTER. Store is twice as big now and clean, huge selection of guns and accessories. the ranges are sooo much better, all updated and new, new electronics, further distances and all new. Staff did a great job helping us get started, explain things to us before using a new style of gun. Then at the range, the employee inside, gave us TONS of specialized attention and help. very very knowledgable and helpful. had a great time, finally got over the noise issues and wow what an upgrade and change. Started shgooting about 6 months ago and tried all the local ranges. PK2000, American Shooting Center etc and this one has become my home base. Great staff, small crowds during the week,. I always feel safe at this range and I like the digital distance controls for the targets as compared to some of the other ranges where you have to guess how far the target is. Weekends are busy like all them but during the week the shooting is easy. read more

A great 50 foot range! Experienced, knowledgeable staff. A very good selection of pistols and rifles for sale as well as rental guns, ammo and accessories. If they don't have it in stock....they can get it. The range fees are VERY reasonable and affordable, and buying a membership that is very reasonably priced can cut the shooting costs way down for frequent shooters. They have everything you need to shoot, guns, ammo, eye & ear protection, targets, etc. I highly recommend them. Good people and an affordable place to shoot. read more

Got the Yelp deal and decided to come here with one of my girlfriends. It was her first time, so one of the staff was kind enough to give her a little starter course until she was comfortable enough to go on her own. They gave a rundown on the handguns that we could choose from and we ended up going for the Beretta since I had tried a Glock once before. We could also choose the targets that we could shoot at (about $0.50-$1.00 depending which one you wanted). It was really fun; we had 50 rounds which maybe lasted us 30-45 minutes, I don't remember exactly. The other customers were also very considerate and polite and gave us pointers when we needed help. Went to their range a couple weeks ago with my 17 year old nephew. The staff was fine but the range sucks. No air flow and dark. It felt like a sauna in the shooting booth. I couldn't wait to get back outside where it was a cool 90°. Won't go back there. read more

I wasn't really sure what to expect when I purchased this Yelp deal, as this was my first time visiting a gun shop and/or firing a gun, but I had a good experience. The staff were laid back, knowledgeable, and clear with their information and instructions but not intimidating at all. We went on a Sunday afternoon and there was no wait for the range. I would definitely come back to shoot again, but will bring earplugs, as the ear guards were lacking. read more

It is pleasantly surprising to find helpful staff at shooting ranges/gun shops. I love coming here because I always feel that ive been adequately helped, my questions (whether foolish/ignorant or not) are always well answered , and their prices are really competitive. Just bought a 9mm handgun here for cheaper than I could find it anywhere else. Ive also been shooting here a few times and their lanes are well kept, although the range is small and not big enough for anything other than handguns.
