Our first experience with Tori and Barney at Discount RV was in Fall 2024 when our RV was brought in for a collision appraisal. Barney reviewed the damage and gave an honest assessment recommending not to repair the trailer because the damage was too severe. Hearing his reasoning, we were in full agreement. Given that experience, when looking to add an inverter, Barney was our go to guy. We had a 2000w inverter with 400w additional solar added for a fair price. The Barney touch was that the inverter prewiring by the trailer manufacture was very poorly done. Barney contacted the trailer mfg and the inverter mfg to understand the reasons that it was set up as it was. He reviewed his solution with them and corrected the wiring to reflect standard practices. This is above and beyond what I expected. I recently acquired a 2018 Tiffin Red and asked Barney to go over it and to make sure everything was working properly, 15k services that I know had not really been done yet and fix a scratch I put on it. Barney gave me the 411 on it, showed me what had likely been warranted before the former owner had even gotten it. Found these guys by accident online, very lucky find. They were awesome from the first phone call to Tori all the way thru the process they were honest and got the work done quickly even though I was unsure exactly which waste valve was malfunctioning Barney checked them both and quickly found it was the black valve. This is one of the best RV repair companies ever! They have been so helpful, and do great work! I needed a new water pump, and I made the mistake of taking it to the dealership last June. I was told the pump was back ordered due to Covid, and they'd call me when one came in. I waited and then called back in October, only to be told they still couldn't get the pump. At the beginning of February the pump started leaking, so I called again. Same old story... So I called Discount RV Center, and they ordered the pump that day (Wednesday), it arrived yesterday, and they installed it today. They did a great job, and worked quickly. We used this business for a couple years and in that time we ended up having to return to have the same thing done, of coarse I was charged each time. I kept having problems with the aircondioner final told not to come back. We went to St George and found out that we no longer had a heat pump and the aircondioner had to replace it. Dont come in and assume you know whats wrong with your coach. That was my mistake apparently. I suggested what I thought it was and it got replaced. Later same issues on same thing and had to pay for diagnosis twice, this kind of stuff gets expensive. Not sure why it didn't get diagnosed first time but i was reminded thats on me for suggesting something else. Had inverter replaced 1st go around to find out their was a short in the wiring system between inverter and batteries. And i was told verbally i wasn't allowed to ever come back because i questioned it. read more

It's hard to say where to start but I feel so compelled to yell from the roof top how blessed I am to have found Barney at Discount RV! I chose this place based on reviews, the "Stay safe and God bless" on their website, and their love of LE families as well! It is definitely busy right now with so many people buying RVs but I got an appointment through Tori, whom was so friendly! I could see they have plenty of customers but they fit me in. I was bringing in my freshly bought RV for a mechanic to look it over for the first time. Also, my RV rolled in park, and had an oil leak. The moment I met Barney, his personality made me feel like he was like an uncle to me. I appreciated his candidness and was frank with me, without making me feel like an idiot lol! It was like a tweeker had my rig before I got it. My advice to you all is to get it looked over by a professional mechanic before you purchase yours. I know it is a quick market right now, and it's tough but it's still a good idea. It ended up at the shop for about a month, as there were a lot of things, many were small problems, but soooo many. Another issue is that some of my parts were hard to find or not made anymore. He had one part fabricated. He spent time under my rig even in the rain. He was not giving up on it! He made time for he and I to walk through my RV and point out issues and show me how things work. He also had an employee drive me home a couple times when I needed to drop it off and pick it up. *WARNING LONG REVIEW* So I need to start with the backstory before I can get to the review. We have a 1998 diesel pusher motorhome that has been serviced most of its life by diesel mechanics that were employed by the family business for the fleet of semi trucks the business owned. The doors to the business closed in 2017 so the service was no longer available there. So when the alternator went out on our motorhome we called the big name place that is near us locally (Rick's rv). They said they didn't do those repairs and directed up to Precision Auto Tune in El Cajon. So we took the rv there. It would take another full review to tell you how bad they messed up our rv at precision, but I can tell you that we spent over $3,000 there only to pick up our rv for a trip we had planned and our SECOND new alternator from them died within 100 miles of us picking it up, requiring a $2000 tow home from a company that could handle the weight of our motorhome. While sitting on the side of the road for 6 hours waiting for the tow truck, my wife decided to get on yelp and find a place we could take it to that would be more competent in fixing motorhomes. Boy did we find the place! Discount rv had stellar reviews including customers saying that Discount Rv was the only one that could figure out the issues they had. That's what I needed! We stopped in the next day and made an appointment to bring our rig in. That's when I met Barney and his wife Torrie (sp?) Barney impressed me right out of the gate. He has been working on motorhomes for decades, sounded like he knew exactly what he was talking about and is very friendly and easy going. So we bring the motorhome in and he calls us a few days later to give us an update. Apparently the last place we took it to replaced our 12 volt alternator with a 24 volt alternator. Which quickly explained why it seemed that all of my electrical components stopped working in the last 100 miles. Barney went from the front of the motorhome to the back replacing the parts that were fried. He spent so much time under that motorhome that I think he would have been happy to never see it or me again. It was a challenging project for him. Not only had the other auto repair shop put the wrong alternator in and fried all sorts of components, but apparently also the diesel mechanics from the family business had monkeyed around with quite a bit of the wiring over the years which caused Barney and his crew even more work and headaches. Now normally you might say, well that's what they get paid for and normally you would be correct. But here is why you would be wrong about Discount Rv. Although I was somewhat over a barrel in this situation since I am not a mechanic and at the time knew very little about our coach's inner workings, not one time did Barney try to gouge me with pricing. In fact he sold us many parts at cost because he felt bad from all we had gone through at the other place. Let me tell you something else, twice when I had a problem with the rv he CAME TO MY HOUSE to fix the issues and refused the cash I tried to give him. And just when you would think that's the best service you could get he topped it again. We had reservations to camp at Silver Strand state beach for our anniversary (it's where we got married also) and when we got there the slide control for the living room extension had stopped working (probably due to the alternator being 24 volt) and I called Barney to see if he had any suggestions of what I could do to save our camping trip. You know what he said? Send me the address and I will head that way I'm sure we can figure it out. And then at 5pm on a Friday night he fought San Diego traffic to save our weekend trip. Again refusing payment, he had the slide working temporarily so we could enjoy the beach. When we returned from our trip he had already ordered the replacement parts and installed them later that week. Barney has been a saving grace for us when it comes to this motorhome. Customer service is top notch. Pricing is extremely fair and although I'm sure he wishes I would just go away sometimes we have created a friendship and he always has a smile and a funny story when I see him. Bottom line is that there is no where else I will ever give my business to than to Discount Rv. You guys are the best and I truly appreciate all you have done for my family and I. I was SO impressed with this place!! Tori and Barney were extremely professional and yet also made me feel like family. It's hard to find customer service this good these days! They made the purchase of my travel trailer (which was on consignment with them) really quick and easy. I drove down from LA and I wasn't sure what to expect because it's a smaller town and place, but they went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly and that I could get back to LA with my trailer without any issues. I could tell right away that Barney is a "no BS" kind of guy and I really appreciated it. Friendly, comprehensive, full service affordable RV shop. Even on older rigs. Even body work on old rigs. Owner Barney and his crew will figure out the issue with your RV. If you're a full timer (like me) and it takes a few days to get parts or for them to try to figure a more economical solution to a part with an outrageous cost, they will plug you in if space allows. My bill was half what I expected and have paid at other shops for oil changes on my Class A Ford V10 gas engine and Onan generator. I've been full timing for almost 5 years and will not take my RV anywhere else ever again. Why didn't I find them 5 years ago? Would have saved some frustration and dollars. We are new to RV ownership. Got rid of the tent and bought an older used class C. It is in great shape, but it's old and we knew it would need some work. We needed a new toilet so some friends referred us to Discount RV. I went to Discount and met Barney. He was very straight forward and honest. He ordered a toilet for me and he was at least $35 cheaper than everywhere else I called. He also assured me that I could install it myself saving the cost of the labor to have his shop do it. When I picked up the toilet Barney gave me a quick tutorial on how to install it. He even gave me (for free) the fittings I would need to complete the job. I got home and following Barney's instructions, successfully installed my toilet in less than an hour! We now need some generator work. We will for sure take it to Discount RV. The only drawback is they share a lot with an auto shop and it gets pretty tight and crowded. Just park it on the street and let them handle the in and out of the lot. See you soon Barney! read more

I had my motorhome at Discount RV for minor prep work for a vacation. Barney discovered a transmission fluid leak that had been spraying the bottom of the motorhome with hot transmission fluid. Further investigation revealed that the transmission was beyond repair. A new transmission was delivered to Discount RV at 6:00 PM. Barney had me on the road at noon the next day. Where in the world can you find service like that? The only place I know, is Discount RV in Lakeside, Ca. Barney and Tori are just the best. No one else will touch my motorhome. My family and I have been RVers for better than forty years, in that time we've had to deal with our share of RV service and repair businesses both locally and on the road. Last summer (6/18) we were in a park that got hit by a thunderstorm that dropped golf ball and larger hail on our motor home. It caused a tremendous amount of damage.
