Took my 2024 silverado Trail Boss that I have only had for less than 2 months. I had bad luck at got some flat that wasn't fixable so I had to get a new tire. They did good at getting me the tire and everything but when they switch the tire out they scuffed up the lip of the wheel. Day after Thanksgiving...beautiful weather, fun family time, and pumpkin pie. However, there appears to be many stray "Turkey's" leftover and many end up in the waiting line at Discount Tires for receiving free air service on tires. People trying to cut in line constantly and driving the wrong way. The only calm, cool, collected and professional person in that line is Antonio. Antonio is corralling and herding dumbasses, all day it appears, and does so in the most calm and professional way. Thanks for the great costumer service Antonio. Great job. I've used Discount Tire for 4 cars now, and my Dad used them when he was alive. He always told me they did great work and had excellent service, so I've been going there for 25 years. I always experienced great service up until yesterday. I hobbled in on crutches to deal with a flat - first trip on the road after surgery was straight there. Dawson greeted me with a smile and seemed so calm and kind and took care of me right away. I waited while he went outside to check my tires as getting around is hard now and he suggested it. Normally I go out with them to assess tires together, but it seemed reasonable to me given the situation. When he came back he said I definitely needed a new tire since mine had a gash in it, which I figured. My other 3 tires were running low on tread and he recommended just to go ahead and do it while we were there. Normally I'd ask more questions about this, especially given my car only has 26,000 miles on it and I rarely take it on the highway. In fact my "drive safe and save" app shows I have food cornering and rarely speed. I'm a good driver now. Can't say the same for my past self! I had to go to the dealership to get my wheel lock key as I didn't have it on me. The manager looked at my tires and had another employee confirm - I did not need new tires. In fact I had a lot of life left in the safe zone. I double checked it at home to be sure. In fact, the size tires Dawson sold me were the wrong size. He did casually mention it but a acted like it wasn't a big deal. The dealership said they really don't recommend that. Another friend said the same. Maybe it's fine, but honestly why risk it? I like to give people the benefit of the doubt when I can, but I feel so taken advantage of right now. I went in today to ask for a refund and he gave it to me, no questions asked. I'm happy to spend good money for businesses with good ethics, but it's harder to find these days. I don't even know who to trust if you can't trust Discount Tire anymore! read more

The wait was too long just to even get my car looked at. They quoted me 20 minutes to have someone look at my car plus an additional 2 hours to have my tires rotated. My daughter even had a rim issue after hitting a curb. With the sheer amount of construction in Austin, it is inevitable that you will pick up a nail or screw or some other debris that will cause a flat tire. Instead of being on the flat tread (salvageable) - it will undoubtedly be right on the edge of the tread and sidewall (definitely not salvageable). That's where discount tire comes in - a quickie replacement of a tire. If you decide that you are going to go in without an appointment - be prepared to either drop and pick up or wait for hours. If you do get an appointment - it may be a few days away, but at least you'll be out of there in less than an hour. This particular location always seems swamped with people and the guys who work here are courteous even when busy. So - I get my tires swapped pretty quickly, but on this go I had one less valve stem cap (but if that's the worst if it - I'll take it). read more

Went to discount tire just to check tire pressures and ended up with rocker panel damaged because the guy lifting my car didn't know how to safely lift it. He was lifting my car because he connected a hose that deflated my tire and then had to remove it to re inflate it. Unbeleivable! read more

OMG I LOVE THIS PLACE! I made an appointment for a slow leak in one tire, and they were super busy, but got me checked in and gave me an estimated time for completion (45 mins). I was pricing tires and availability. Costco had a decent price, but nothing available immediately. NTB had a mail-in-rebate, but nothing top-end. I needed a spare replacement quickly. I looked up Discount tire. I clicked on what I thought was the closest one and ended up calling one 40 minutes away on accident. I went to the location I thought I had selected and was informed of my mistake. I went a head and went to the one on Ben White. I was given a quote that couldn't be beat. I was told an hour lead time. It took 1.25 hrs before they were able to start. Another 45 minutes to complete. Being in line already really helped. Otherwise I may have been there until closing. I am happy with the tires. I wish the manufacturers weren't allowed to design them to fall apart. read more

Best bet these days is to call in, make an appointment and let them know what size tires you'll need AND make sure they have them. Once this part is done, easy breezy! The folks there are all super polite and very attentive, even when they are super slammed. I made an appointment the previous day. Dropped my car off and they were expecting me. Measured the tread on two tires I was unsure of and let me know that they needed to be replaced. They didn't have the tires on hand, but let me know I could make an appointment in two weeks and they would have the tires by then, no problem. They reassured me the tires would be fine for a few months, if needed. ALSO! Be sure to get their warranty on all your tires - it's worth it, trust me. With the amount of construction constantly going on in Austin, it's worth every dime. I gave them my number to text when they were finished and we went to take care of errands. I received a text when my car was done, went to pick it up when we finished errands, got the keys no issue and drove away with a "thank you and we will see you in a couple of weeks". Yesterday I brought my car in because my rear right tire seems to have a leak after a couple weeks after inflating it and now (almost) flat again. Even though this is Austin, I was unpleasantly surprised at the long wait on a Friday morning. Not their fault but pretty annoying. They put me in the queue and I had an estimate of a 2 hour wait, no problem, I am willing to wait so I drive off to get coffee. After 5 minutes of having left, I get a text that I am ready to have my car evaluated. I turn around and come to find out I'm not ready to be seen, I am still 5th place in line *sigh* so I end up just staying in my car waiting and luckily I was seen about 10 minutes after coming back. Zachary inspects all 4 tires and how coincidental, another tire has a nail in it, and surprise surprise where it is punctured is the side of the tire that makes it unrepairable *eye roll* Then I am told the treading on my front 2 tires is getting to it's end. I get quoted almost $900 on all 4 for a 2012 Honda civic. I go ahead and only have the other 2 inspected/repaired. He also gives me a quote with the warranty which I am glad I caught him saying it so that I can tell him I don't want it added. I was told at about 11:45am it would be ready but it's past 1:00pm. I am pleasantly surprised they were able to patch up the one with the nail but they couldn't salvage the low air one. No explanation just "couldn't fix that one". I am driving back home to Cedar Creek and I get a "Check TPMS" light flashing. Of the 7 years I have had this car, and lost count at the amount of times I have had to bring my car in for tire changes, I never had this light come on (only "Check tire pressure"). Luckily there is a Discount Tire in Bastrop close to where I live. I bring it in and the associate that inspects my car was good but omg the mechanic that gave me the "run down" on my car was horrid in his delivery....the wheel of the new tire that was replaced at this location was bent!! What in the f*ck?! This is apparently Honda/my car's fault according to this mechanic saying the sensor is out of wack. I asked "well then how does this turn on all of a sudden after changing my tire". I had to pry it out of the mechanic in Bastrop (which I guess is another review I have to make there) if it was safe to still drive it then and he said yes. Oh, and my car is starting to rumble once I hit 60mph which usually means did not rebalance it properly. Apparently this is caused by that wheel being bent so it lifts it off the ground a bit when driving. I am just flabbergasted y'all at all of this nonsense. Infuriated is an understatement. read more

Tires tend to be a thing we all have - and yet we mistreat and overlook. It is what gets the car around after all. :) These guys help to remind you that it's not only about safety but fuel efficiency and handling/comfort. Picked up a new set of Bridgestone Run Flats for my Mercedes today. They had them in stock and quoted less than an hour to do. Given the number of customers I found it hard to believe. I'll follow up on the results of his estimate. Let's see if they are right. I should also mention that while you wait they offer complimentary bottled water and have a restroom onsite for customers.
