The shop was recommended by my tow service to repair a flat. The shop was very busy when I arrived but I waited in line less than 10 mins before Jacob checked out my tire and got it in the queue for servicing. When I asked for the estimated cost, was told no charge(!) Had to wait over an hour for it to get done but overall, couldn't complain. read more

Angel and Tyler at Discount Tire are my hero's tonight! I was out having dinner and when I got back to my car, one tire was hissing. It was loosing air fast. I was at the Domain, which is not far from DT. My car has run flats and I purchased them from DT, so I said a Hail Mary and headed east on Braker. One of the perks of DT is that there is usually one near by. When I pulled into DT, they were already closed, but Tyler and AngeI saw the distress I was in and allowed me to go ahead and pull my car in. They were able to get me rolling again within 20 minutes. They helped me with big smiles on their faces and didn't even charge me a dime because my tires are covered with the DT warranty that I purchased with them. AMAZING! Buy the warranty, it's worth it. They were true angels and saved me from what could have been a huge hassle. It's experiences like this, that I have had over the years, that has kept me a customer for the last 20 years. This has been my go-to tire supplier for every vehicle I've owned since living in Austin. The service has always been good. I have never felt pressured to purchase something I did not want to. Prior to COVID, the business had many varieties of tires on display, which took up a lot of real estate and pushed customers tightly along the wall or in a line down the center aisle together.  The room was always crowded.  Now the tires are gone, the room feels spacious, and people are able to socially distance. That said, I wonder how that is affecting their business.  I know my tire purchase was influenced by seeing my tire comparisons in person.  I highly recommend making an appointment in advance because it will always be honored, even when they are busy. Arrive a few minutes before your time, bypass the line to an open window, and tell them you have an appointment.  You will be next in line. You'll receive a text to follow the progress of your service. I appreciate that they keep track of when I need my next rotation, and that rotations are always free. Just one more reason I keep coming back! Discount Tire also does free tire pressure checks for the public (that TPMS light comes on after a cold snap!) and fixes flats. A final word about your tires: yes, this is a business and they want to make money, but tires are very important to your vehicle.  Fight the sticker shock and don't settle for the poorest grade tire. They aren't lying when they tell you why you shouldn't.  This doesn't mean shell out more for the highest end; just don't settle; equip your vehicle adequately. Never before would I have imagined writing a glowing review for a tire center, but here we are! I have a 2013 Corvette (which sits pretty low compared to other cars) and I have been a loyal Costco Tire Center member for the past 10 years. However, they recently stopped working on Corvettes since they can't get jacks underneath to properly lift it. Boo Costco! So this was my first adventure to find a new tire place. I called ahead just to make sure Discount Tire would work on my car before I made the order and they said they did! I bought my tires online and booked an appointment. My tires would take a few days to arrive, no biggie, I'm used to waiting for the specialty tires for my car. I was running late (dead battery) but gave them a quick call and they said not to worry and that they would look out for me when I arrived. I arrived about 10 mins late to my appointment and was greeted outside by Marcelo. He ushered me to a bay, and I drove my car right in. Nice quick ID check and I had hardly sat down before they told me my car was done! I think I was in and out within 15 minutes flat! I watched the process and they used low profile jacks at the correct mounting points, and hand torqued the nuts at the end properly to spec. Shortly after leaving, I got a call from Discount Tire saying they had one of my custom Corvette valve stem caps that they forgot to put back on. Usually, tire centers wouldn't even care to call or notice this! I was only 10 minutes away so quickly came back to meet Marcelo again who put it back on. Never taking my car here again! Ever. Bought 4 new tires (staggered setup) and had this shop put them on few months ago. My steering wheel was a little shaky afterwards but I figured it just needed an alignment, which I then got at Firestone. A couple weeks ago I took my wheels off to spray paint them for fun(used index card method) and found out they put the 225s on 8.5" in front and 245s on 8" in back and my front tires were warping. So I took my car in after explaining and they assured me that they would replace the two fronts and put all 4 on correctly....went to do an alignment the next day and come to find out that they messed up again. They put on side on correctly but on the driver side they still put 225 on a 8.5" in front and the 245 on 8" in back. Plus the machine they use to balance the tires needs to be recalibrated because they but several weights on one tire and all 4 tires were out of balance. This shop seriously needs to reevaluate their employees! Reason I gave at least one Star is because they did replace the two front tires. read more

I have been appreciative of this business but today not so much. If you have a vehicle with wheel locks, be sure you confirm the key is returned to its proper location after you have tires replaced. I had to take my VW Beetle to the dealership (after waiting an hour longer than my supposed completion time at Discount) to get my wheel locks replaced because my key was missing. Since Discount is the ONLY place I purchase tires, as I was getting my refund before heading to get the wheel locks replaced I verbally wondered where it could possibly have gone. The salesman jokes, "yeah we had a whole basket of those until recently". My response was not complimentary. Ridiculous & so unprofessional. Do better Discount. read more

Need 1 tire for a 2010 Lexus. Did not have a good experience. Salesman (David) was aggressive and pushy. Quoted a higher price than other Discount Tire store that was a couple of miles away. Inconsistent pricing and trying to upsell extra tires. Timeliness was poor - a simple tire replacement takes 2 hours. Overall service is poor. read more

I was saving money being quarantined during COVID-19, so I decided to purchase some new tires for my car. I asked some friends and coworkers if they recommend a good place, and most of them pointed me to Discount Tire. I called and made an appointment with a location about 1 mile away from my house. I am currently in a fitbit step-challenge with some friends, so I assumed I would walk home after I dropped it off. I was excited to get some steps in. Little did I know, Discount Tire is FAST AF. I was able to choose my car make & model on their website to pick out some good/better/best options before I went in. When I arrived, I was greeted immediately and a guy helped me narrow down my selection. I was driving back home within 20min! Needless to say, I did not come 1st in my step-challenge. But that's okay. Everything seemed too easy, and everyone is super nice here as well! read more

I made an appointment to check on a tire that was losing air. When we arrived there was clear signage of where to go. An employee (wearing a mask, YAY!) took our information and shepherded us to a spot and instructed us to put on our hazard lights. Approximately 15 minutes later, another employee came and checked all of my tires and told me that two of my tires are getting a bald. He informed me that the tire that was losing air had a nail but appears to be repairable. I asked him how much it was to repair it, he said it was free especially since I had decided to replace my 2 bad tires (which was NOT FREE). The entire service took less than an hour and was excellent! On top of the excellent service, EVERYONE was wearing masks which made me feel safer. I am so glad that I found this place. I will surely take my car here from now on. read more

More than once they have broken studs when rotating my tires. The last time they broke a stud I had to take it to a shop for repair and because it was a stud in the right front tire, it took 2.5 hours to repair. We are a 1 car household, so this meant I either had to sit at a repair shop for this time frame, or I had to spend money on an Uber to go to work and then again return to the repair shop. Discount Tire acted like they were so nice to pay for the repair (as they should have) and did not offer an apology, but their mistake meant there was just another thing I had to take care of and spend money on. I hate to do this because they've been great in the past-the Braker Ln location anyway. This I35 location is not exactly fabulous. First I took my car there for air before a long road trip. The guy said " you need tires now!" Of course it was fine for another 1000+ miles but I get it. He also said I needed rear tires too. Well, I didn't. And when I went to replace the fronts, the guy said "yeah the rear tires are in good shape" I looked online and it appeared the $77 tire with 40k warranty would be fine. The more expensive ones, better tires I'm sure, still only had 40-45k warranty. I know that's not everything -there's ride, handling, gas mileage. But I'm not keeping the car very long. Long story short, this guy recommended a tire at around $100 with a 65k warranty. Deal! So today I'm grabbing a guitar pick off my dresser and see the receipt. They only have a 45k warranty. So I called and basically got the runaround and was told I still got a better tire. Because 'real people are getting over 60k miles on them' . When I asked about the lower priced tire he said they're getting 53k. I'm assuming these guys get commission for upselling. Just speculation on my part. Anyway, I'll probably be switching to Sam's or Costco. read more

Bought two new Pirelli Scorpion tires at the William Canon Austin location and noticed on the way home that the pressure was low in one. No big deal, the hubby could add more air at home. By the following morning the pressure in less than 20# and loosing more air. Stopped on the way back to Discount Tire to take a look and try to add more air but the air pump nozzle would not attach and then the valve stem shot out. After talking to several folks at the DT shop we made our way to Victor (Mgr) who sent Jason to help us. We were stranded in a parking lot several miles from the shop. Jason was competent, efficient and professional. He communicated the steps he needed to take and estimated the time frame and then followed through with results. He tried to explain why I should get new tires using the chart(even though I didn't want any). I simply said "with all due respect, I only wanted that little issue out of the way". He got visibly upset, told me "this is my job" and proceeded to passive-aggressively telling me about the tires I didn't want. THEN he asked me too many questions about where I was getting my tires and kept saying "it's a bad idea", pressing me into getting tires here. I made it clear what I wanted. He didn't care.. I bought new tires online and made an appt. There are not two distinct lines for those with appts and those without, and airlines have demonstrated that's an easy problem to solve. If you have an appt, speak up and ask someone when you first walk in, because the waiting area is pretty chaotic. Once I sorted that out, this place is A+. There was something wrong with the tires I ordered so they gave me much more expensive Goodyear tires at the same price. I was in and out in less than an hour. Went to discount tire just to check tire pressures and ended up with rocker panel damaged because the guy lifting my car didn't know how to safely lift it. He was lifting my car because he connected a hose that took all the air out of my tire and then had to remove it to re inflate it. Unbeleivable! read more

At almost 70 & in bad health, the one thing I didn't want to experience was a flat tire in our extreme heat this summer, much less a blowout at highway speed. I feared that new tires might be a lot more expensive -- pandemic, supply chain, etc. -- but they weren't. Perhaps one day you will bring back the cold water. Even if you need to charge us for that, it's a nice feature. But thank you for fabulous service. You've had my back, so to speak, for 20+ years on 3 different cars. So i go into this specific discount (i've never had problems with them before in Houston). My car says it's ready on the message tracker. So i head up to pay my $900 for new tires. I come to find out they didn't even complete the work?! I then get sent on a 3 hour scavenger hunt for a specific key to unlock my wheel locks. These guys don't really care about you. I get it they're busy and been working here for years, but cmon shouldn't you have employees go get these parts from BWM not the customer? I mean what did i just pay for there ?
