Mixed experience here. I purchased top of the line tires and returned to pick up my car after hours to see there were discount tires on my car. They didn't call or leave a message. On Monday they explained they didn't have the tires that they had sold me so I returned the next week to get the tires I purchased. We usually use another Discount Tire location who we LOVE. But our experience today at the Research Blvd store was terrible. We made an appointment almost a week prior and got there to discover that they had double booked that time and that we would have to wait for an hour. Because it was service for a trailer there was only one bay available and they managed to book two people at the same time. In addition, because it was a trailer, we couldn't even leave and come back. Giant waste of time that was COMPLETELY unnecessary. If they had called us prior we could have worked out a different time. We will never use this location again. read more

Just got home from using this location and am super happy. I had a flat and had to be towed to this location as it was the closest place. My husband and I have been customers at a South Austin location for years and they had all our records on file. Louis, the store manager, took care of me himself--told me that the tread on my flat tire was still good and that he would evaluate whether it could be fixed first so I wouldn't have to buy 2 new tires. Turns out it could be fixed and they fixed it plus checked my spare and put air in it, since it was also nearly flat. Then Louis told me he wouldn't charge me for the service, I guess due to our loyalty with the brand. Or maybe he's just a nice guy. Either way, will definitely continue using Discount Tire at any location for their great customer service and fair prices. read more

The staff refused to honor the warrantee (I bought my old four tires from this place, which only lasted half of the lifetime it guaranteed) and sold me expensive new tires after so-called trade-in "discount". I was supposed to replace all of the four tires, but I was so disappointed at the customer serve that decided to only replace two tires at $200. The next day I went to do oil change at Firestone (Clock Tower Dr), the manager (Moy) quoted me $130 for the exact same two tires. He was really trying to help me save without me even asking. We went in with a nail in a repairable tire. They said they could not repair it. Instead wanted to sell us a new tire that was not in our budget.. This was not my vehicle but my ex husband's. I informed him that discount tire down south was able to help me one time with a new significantly discounted tire (They have the ability to work with certain tires they stock) Both men that assisted him named Austin & Jacob were completely condescending, rude unhelpful & unsympathetic. Even going as far as asking inappropriate questions like can your ex wife help pay for a new tire? So my ex husband wanted to speak to the GM (Louis?) to relay his experience and the attitudes from the other men. He himself was unsympathetic and condescending as well. Completely uninterested in listening to the customers experience and how he was treated instead just defending his workers and unapologetic and disregarded the simple fact he was just telling him about the way he was spoken to. We have always utilized discount for over 20 years multiple vehicles. We were about to have to get 4 new tires in the upcoming weeks. Never again will we patron a discount tire and spend our money there. Drove down the road and was able to get it repaired because again, it was a repairable and good tire! THEY PRICE MATCH. Which is OUTSTANDING to me. And if the tire you're looking for isn't anywhere for them to order online they will find you comparable tires. I'm currently getting a $155 tire for $110 price matched and getting the 4th tire free from another competitors website deal, but without all the crazy stipulations! Went in with 2 nails in my tire. I have a sports car, which is extra special to me. Derek helped me out. He was professional, that was great. I had made an appt and that helped too, I suspect as i was in and out in 45 minutes. And just like others have said, I thought "I will be stuck here a long time." But i was not. They said one hour and i was out in 45 minutes. It turns out I had three nails in my tire. They fixed it right up. I waited to see what I owed them. Derek said nothing. WHEN DOES THAT EVER HAPPEN? I will be back when it's time to get new tires and that is probably within a year. I do realize they realize that too... but the fact that they "up front" that cost ... real smart business people. Although I have no issue with the services provided, I do take issue with their sales tactics. Bottom line they did a price match for tires I had planned to buy at Costco. The price match included a pro-rated wear credit for my old tires but the "out the door" price was the same as Costco. What they didn't tell me is the Discount tire road hazard warranty is an additional cost of $16.75 /per tire and is less comprehensive than the road hazard Costco includes in the price for installing the tires. I have to pay $74.35 in addition to the "price match" to get the same warranty as is offered by Costco for the price of installation. I will try but I doubt they will include the road hazard warranty at no charge, "after the fact." I gave them an opportunity and chose to reward my good faith by not making me aware of the additional cost for the road hazard warranty. read more

This business does not operate in good faith. They stated they could not service my flat tire due to the 'Condition" of my other tires. The tires I drove into the parking lot with. The tires that the roadside repair worker who helped me out not days before remarked "Had good tread." I had a really fantastic experience here. The prices were the exact same in the store as online, which is always nice and makes it easy to compare with other shops. They had the best prices by far and without bogus "promotions." I only made an appointment the night before online, didn't have to go at the crack of dawn and despite the amount of people there, was still next in line to get serviced because of the appointment. The technician was super nice and didn't try to upsell me unnecessary things or BS me. He looked at my tires, let me decide what I wanted to do and they were finished putting on 4 new tires in less than 25 minutes. They even made a point to come out and let me know they were almost done, as if they thought they weren't being fast enough. I can't believe how quick they were and how nice/honest they were. And now I have free tire rotations and balances for the life of the tires, which saves a ton of money on top of the best deals in town. I would be an idiot to go anywhere else. I was filling my car tires last night and shortly afterward (within 20 ft) I got a complete flat. First cold night of the year and I'm changing a tire for the first time in 20 yrs. Spare mounted, the next day I went by this Discount Tire, Anderson Mill at 183... I've used them before, for fixes, new tires, no problems. But, on Tuesday Oct 27th, I drove up and one of their techs came out to greet me. He looked over my flat, said he could see the cut in between the tread, he told me that's where the leak had come from, and that I also had tire sidewall damage that precluded the tire from being fixed. On relatively new tires purchased by the cars previous owner... in Alabama. So I have a sports car, you can't just replace one tire, you need a matched pair, so I was looking at spending some $. Then he looked at my rears, and said they really needed replacing also. Wow, now that means lots of $$$. I'm really not prepared for that. Especially since... But wait, what a coincidence, I was at a Nissan dealer (Cedar Park) on just last Saturday. They changed my oil for me and did an overall engine check, and said my brakes were good for a while longer... oh, and so was my tire tread! (I Highly recommend them !). I told the Discount Tire tech, no thanks, I'd have to think about it. But I knew he was full of it... what a rip off! So you know the Firestone at Anderson Mill and 183? Just down the same shopping center? I went there. They over pressurized the tire and couldn't find any leak. Turns out the valve needed replacing and they remounted it... works fine... and they didn't charge me a dime!!!! Where am I going next time? FIRESTONE!!! read more

Cristopher helped my gf with her tires and was very inappropriate. I will never come back to this location just because this guy creeps on girls. He asked her for her number and if She was sure She didn't want to do anything today. He consistently kept making her feel uncomfortable where She had to get up and leave and go get coffee at coffee bean until the car was ready. That is by far the worst experience She has ever had . I was curious what this was so I looked on the site and its an OFF brand. I go back and Randy says I said it was made by Kumho. NEVER DID say that. I went here as a "damsel in distress", looking to find a replacement for my front left tire. Having just started a new job, I was on a budget and desperately in need of finding something I could afford -- especially since i needed to drive to San Antonio that night. Not only did they win me over, over the phone when I called, but when I got there, they were diligent in looking into what I needed. They told me that another one of my tires was on the outs--- meaning it was NOT safe to drive on, old, and could possibly go out at any time. We discussed it and they told me about their current promotion to buy 4 tires (I could NOT afford to get more than 1 that day, absolutely not). By the end of my time there, they had uncovered a USED one, to replace the other one that was going out, and told me they would just let me have it until I came back. They would not allow me to drive without having something they could at least attempt to give me to replace the tire that was on its last legs. I left here spending what was in my budget, but most importantly, they seemed to care a lot about my safety and worked with me on my budget. I WILL DEFINITELY GO BACK! And cannot thank them enough for possibly averting a very bad crisis that could have happened on my road trip. These guys care a lot about people. I made an appointment 5 days before the scheduled time. Once I arrived I let the individual at check in know my name, my appointment time, and the reason for my visit. Very nice, pointed me in the right direction to wait for an associate. I was helped within 5 minutes. The associate was friendly when I explained to him I was in to get some new tires due to them being very old. They had tread but were over 5 years old. I was told he would check it all out. I tend to play dumb when going somewhere to have my car fixed because it helps me determine how much they are going to try and screw me around. First thing I'm told is I need two new rims. My tire was most likely leaking from the rim he claimed. I tried to play it off and focus on the tires which he barley wanted to attribute to my problem. This is when I started to lose my patience. I was very clear about what I wanted to do today and that I wanted two new tires. He goes in to price them and returns to start telling me the price of rims again. While only trying to sell me 2 that aren't OEM. I'm not trying to look like a clown with mismatching rims on my car. I tell him again I don't want the rims and that I'd rather fix the tires and while the new tires are being put on we can then assess my situation. He comes at me with the "well this is what I do for a living everyday and it's frequently an issue" like dude, Im only here because I don't have the machine to mount and balance tires/rims. Just give me what I came in here asking for and stop trying to sell me BS. After it was all sorted out I was then told I'd be back on the road as soon as possible. I headed back out to my car and hung out for another 45 minutes without being helped. At this point I was frustrated and went to the check in gentleman and just asked if scheduled appointments take this long. He immediately realized I was forgotten and went to straighten the situation out. Within 3 minutes they had my car up in the air and started taking care of my issue. Overall I shouldn't leave a two star but that was how I felt after my experience. My only two real drawbacks were salesmen who push BS and act all defensive when you tell them you're good or try to guilt you into a product. I was very close to taking my business elsewhere as I wasted 30 minutes just dealing with that. The other draw back was being forgot about. Made me question the point of making an appointment. I get times are tough and we are all dealing with new circumstances but that shouldn't affect how a customer is treated. read more

I had an appointment today and we came ready masks hand sanitizer, and 70% alcohol wipes and walked up to the door and was meet by a guy outside. Tell him I have an appointment and he takes my keys and tells me to wait outside even though the store was empty and had empty chairs. I think OK this is the new procedures with COVID. Mind you its already 88 degrees outside. So my kids and I take seats outside in the sun...there is no shade just chairs in the sun. With in minutes we are hot and sweaty, they could have put up a few tents or at least provided some water. After about 10 minutes more people came up and were welcomed inside. This upset me knowing everyone else was in the shade and cool air.. We sat out there for about 30 to 45. In the heat in direct sun with no water. This discount tires location needs to do better and yes I understand that these a hard times we are learning to navigate. read more

It seems odd to give a tire place a 5-star review, but they totally deserve it! I've been going here for about 6 years and only have had positive experiences. The staff is all super friendly, they anser my inane questions, and they seems genuinely concerned about issues. I've gotten my fill of free rotations and air fills and they never seem put off about doing another freebie. I've also bought two sets of tires and a set of wheels and they do a good job of working with you on price and recommending what is in your budget. Several of the guys there have been there since I have been going, which tells me they must be doing something right to keep people on staff for that long. Also - this place is really clean. Yes, it has that tire smell to it, but otherwise the floor always seems clean and the chairs and waiting area are free of clutter. Plus they have a little fridge with bottled water for waiting clients. read more
