I've been going to Discount Tire for years, but I might just stop doing that after the terrible service I experienced yesterday. (Saturday, Feb 24th) I came in a little before three o'clock to have a single tire replaced. They did not tell me how many cars were ahead of me, or give me an estimated time until it would be done. I thought that was a little unusual, but I gave them my phone number twice so they could call or text me when my car was ready. I quickly tired of sitting in the waiting room (not the store's fault, there was an annoying lady there who would not stop having multiple obnoxious conversations on her phone). So I had a friend pick me up and we went to get something to eat. About five o'clock, I still hadn't received any notification from the store about my car. Knowing they would likely be closing soon, I called them directly to ask if my car was ready. When I provided the car make and model to the guy who answered the phone, he said 'Oh yeah, that's been finished for awhile'. So my friend dropped me off at the store to get my car. However, when I walked in they said that my car WASN'T ready, that there were still three cars ahead of it, and that it would be another 45 minutes! WHAT?! Then what idiot did I just talk to on the phone? I was pretty annoyed at this point, but luckily my friend hadn't left the parking lot yet and was able to get me so I didn't have to sit in their waiting room, seething. At that time it was five 5:15 or so. OVER AN HOUR LATER (not the 45 minutes I was told) I STILL had not received any notification! So I called them directly again, three times, and got no answer. It was 6:30 by this point. Finally, they called me back and said 'We're about to be closing up, are you going to come get your car?' I almost exploded, and explained to the idiot that until that point, I HAD RECEIVED NO COMMUNICATION FROM THE STORE, AND WHEN I CALLED EARLIER I WAS BASICALLY LIED TO! I went to go get my car, where they handled the situation in perhaps the most annoying way they could have. THEY ACTED LIKE IT WAS MY FAULT. I told them that I never got a call, and clearly they had my correct number, so in the end THEY made THEMSELVES stay late by being incompetent. I'll likely be finding another place to have tire work done from now on. I really, REALLY dislike being lied to and I hate being blamed for something that is CLEARLY not my fault. I went to Discount Tire and they not only fixed my tire for free (I had been driving around with a nail), they also rotated my tires, which I did not purchase there (I have a 2014 car), at no charge. Had an issue with a fairly new tire purchased in April, was told I had a warranty by a different location but turned out they didn't add it on. Jordan, the assistant manager, handled everything and went above and beyond to get the issue fixed and had me back on the road in no time. I needed to get a nail removed and a tire patched and they tried to upsell me on a whole new set of tires. I knew they would probably do this, but I didn't expect them to pull 3 cars in ahead of mine and make me wait over 30 minutes while other customers went ahead of me. When I asked how much longer they thought it would be, the salesman told me I was "probably" next - I explained I had another appointment to get to and only had about 15 more minutes to wait. He actually brought me my keys and told me they would not be able to help me. I was shocked as I had been planning on getting new tires later in the month, just needed a "quick fix" before a trip out of town - they just lost a customer for life!!! read more

Discount Tire, you have yet another amazing and satisfied customer under your roof that will never go anywhere else BUT your company for anything tire related. I own a brand new 2013 Ford Focus ST. On 9/27 I come to find I have a nail in my tire, it was low, drove it to your store on 13376 Research Blvd #600 in Austin, TX. When I arrived I was very upset with the situation, and knowing my luck I would have to pay for a Goodyear Eagle F1, which I knew were VERY hard to find, and VERY rare. I spoke with a employee Luke, who made the best of the situation. Luke informed me of the fact that I will possibly have to buy a new one, got several opinions to make sure the decision was right, and once your specialist have determined there was inner material damage, gave me a few minutes to think it over, and suggested to call Ford. When I spoke with a local Ford dealership, they informed me that since I did not buy the car from them, they could not assist with anything. They did not even suggest to come by and lets talk about it. But your employee Luke, and your company, went above and beyond my expectations. I work for one of the top technology companies in the world, and am in the customer service department supporting very important people on a daily basis. I speak with CEOs, I speak with celebrities, I speak with very high level people. And will never tell them theres nothing we can do. We look, we think, and we find an answer, and make the best of a bad situation. Luke started calling tire places to track down a tire for me. He even looked into, and succeeded, in having the company prorate my tire to help with the cost of purchasing a new one. Luke previously informed me that it might be up to a week, then stated he was able to get the tire in by Tuesday. All of this led to an amazing experience at your store that made the best of a stressful situation. I will never go anywhere other than Discount Tire. I was quite displeased with the service I got today at this location. I had been waiting quite some time just to get some air in my tires. They kept having me change waiting spots, and as soon as I'd try to pull into the air Bay, someone else would sneak in and they'd help them. I ended up leaving. They are cheap, reliable and reasonably quick with repairs. They do however tack on a probabilistically valueless warranty onto your tires and/or try to upsell it to you. They treat customers in the store with lower priority than people who phone in realizing full well without your vehicle you're little more than a hostage and at their mercy. YOU WILL NEVER CHECK OUT QUICKLY HERE. I've been here a dozen times. If you're picking up your car during your lunch hour cancel your lunch plans and brown bag it. i totally agree with Kelly M., these guys are "girl-friendly." they don't talk down to you, nor do they try to sell you something you don't need or didn't come there to buy. much appreciated! i've been here twice in the past 3 months, and both visits were great. the first time i was here, it was to replace 2 worn tires. Joel, the manager, helped me find the tire that best suited my car & price range perfectly. the guys in the shop were so quick. they put my new tires on & i was out the door in less than 45 minutes, and i was in the waiting room with at least 4 other people that morning. before i left the shop with my new tires that day, Joel gave me a quote for an awesome deal on some wheels i had asked about. he wrote the quote on his business card & told me whenever i was ready for the wheels, to come back & they would honor the deal. well, today was the day! immediately upon arriving, i was greeted by Javier. i showed him the quote Joel had written up for me & Javier honored it, no questions asked. again, my wheels were on & i was out the door in less than 45 minutes. these guys are fast, super-friendly & have great people-skills. while waiting for my car to be serviced both times, i witnessed each employee deal with many customers, either in person or over the phone. every one was helped immediately & dealt with in a professional manner. they will beat any other deal you find elsewhere, no problem. many thanks to Joel & Javier! read more

Over the years, the service really has gone downhill here. I have even done research papers at school for how impeccable the service always was at a discount tire. I came here for decades because of the service and never had bad service until a couple of times here in the Austin area. Not easy to find a location in the Austin and surrounding area at Discount Tire these days. This time, I dropped my car off to get all 4 new tires. Even left it for 4 hours so they could get other people done and I could pick it up. Got half way home and at 65-75 on the highway I get horrible shimmy/ shacking. It didn't do this before. Called this store I had the work done and they said drop in any store since I was about home and closer to another location. I don't want my tires to start wearing already and I'm headed out on a long trip tomorrow. So I find the Round Rock Location, let them know what happened and they tell me I need to wait an hour to an hour and a half. You messed up and didn't put the weights on right so now I'm stuck here waiting. This happened once in the past. They got me in and in minutes I was out. It's a correction. Bummer the guy helped me his shirt said he was part of the management team. I always talk to highly about DT but not lately. This didn't make it better. Always buys certs on my cars I filter through every couple of years and buy my tires but might be time to change. Disappointed. read more

I need to replace my car's tires, so asked some friends of mine where is the good place to go. They suggest me to try Discount Tire, so I went, and I am so happy that I did. I think they have the best service and deal for customer. It's very easy to make an appointment, I even booked online myself, and then I went on time. It didn't take too long to wait there. After 2 months I broke one of my tire, so I went there again. I thought I have to buy another brand new tire to replace it, no, they replaced a brand new tire for me, and only charged me 1/6 of the price. I am so glad I went there at the first place. read more

This is the second time I have been here. Have them the benefit of the doubt the first time. I was told 45 minutes to an hour. 2.5 hours later I finally got my car back. That was the first time. The second time I was told and hour and twenty minutes tops. I have been here now for over 2.5 hours. Customer service was great, but they need to figure out there wait times. read more

I've always used discount tire. They have decent prices and a pretty nice warranty on their tires(you do have to pay for that though. Most I've ever paid was $10) I went not too long ago because I had a hold in my sidewall. They had to replace the tire. Something nobody wants to hear. But, the warranty had me covered. Replaced it for free!!! I only paid for the new warranty which was 10 bucks. They sell rims there too by the way. I have always been impressed with discount tire. Now this specific location: they are smaller than other, longest time I've ever waited, and they scold their employees in front of you. That's the only reason for the 4 stars, otherwise they would definitely get 5. The fact that the boss scolded SEVERAL employees in front of everyone in the lobby was a turn off. I recommend this place though, just don't be surprised if you meet a douchbag or two. *Discount tires does the bare minimum. Meaning if they are working on your car and see your other tires clearly need air, they won't air them up. Won't replace any caps that cover where you air up the tire. It's the little things that matter. Discount Tire doesn't take the initiative. read more

This place has gotten incredibly slow I bring most of my company cars to this place but am now deciding it is not such a good idea from Two and a half to three and a half if you wait even longer four-and-a-half-hour awaits the people say and really don't care if you go right down the street to NTB it's as if people don't really like working there it is no more packed than many of the other locations yet they tell you twice as long for waiting three to four years of this situation they could really care less if you come or go if you bring one or 20 cars there try the one in Round Rock much more better managed. I get the feeling that they don't like to work as fast and hard so they increase the length of waiting time to make you just go away not good business practice especially for people who've brought you their business for the last 25 years read more

Three words: free flat repair. Recently, I drove over a nail on 183 and thought I would have to get my tire replaced. I was stressing out quite a bit because I was low on cash and couldn't afford a new tire. Luckily, Discount Tire fixed my flat free of charge. Not only that, but I was in and out within 30 minutes. To sum it up, they will definitely have my business the next time I should have to replace a tire. I wish more big companies would do business this way. read more

They took the time to help me pick out the tires that best suited my needs and had me back on the road in about half an hour. Had new rear tires put in.... The guys did a good job except forgetting to balance my front tires at first time. But here on it sucks. My Porsche Leather Racing wheel was covered in filth and grease and the whole car sticks like it. I am so glad I didn't choose the alcantara version of the wheel because that would impossible to clean! By the time I got home my hands smelled and felt they were covered in it too. Pulled the key out of ignition it was super dirty too. Please do not get into expensive luxury cars or for that matter anyone's car without clean clothing and washing your hands first. I will go elsewhere next time... These people simply don't care at all or even attempt to make any effort to avoid this. read more

I had driven over a nail or a screw and gotten a flat tire. I went to the Discount Tire on Braker/Burnet which fixed the flat for free and replaced the valve stem too. I was very happy they fixed it for free, thanked them and drove off. A little over a year later I get a postcard in the mail saying I should come in and get the valve stem replaced. Even though the mfg wasn't recalling them, Discount Tire felt they were not safe. Following the instructions on the postcard I made the appt online for the Discount Tire at this location up North on 183. I get there and tell them I honestly forgot which tire it was that had the flat and their valve stem. They replaced the valve stem on all 4 tires just to make sure they got the bad one replaced. All for free !! They were on time, polite, friendly and professional. I will be buying my tires from them when I need tires. read more

It's been a while since I've had to replace any tires on vehicles. I somehow ended up with multiple new vehicles in a row so never had to. However, before that happened I always bought from Discount. They always worked with me on lowering the price and the customer service, both at the time of the transaction and anytime I needed follow up service, was always outstanding. This latest visit was no different after many years. I bought a new car this year, in 2015, and shortly after thought I damaged a tire enough to already have to replace it. Instead of taking it into Toyota (which I was sure would say "why yes, you definitely need a new tire and should buy one today," I ran my car into Discount Tire to have them check it out. No need to replace it, they said. Derek, however, mentioned that they could cover my brand new tires on my car for a small fee (I think it was around $60, if I remember correctly), just as they would if I bought the tires from them. I opted to do that and thank god I did! Just a few months later I somehow ended up with a nail through my tire and it could not be repaired. So the tire (with only 9000 miles on it by now) had to be replaced. Discount ordered the tire (it wasn't a common one they usually have in stock), had it in their store the next business day and called me to come in so they could swap the tires out. And the new tire....costed me $0! Normally I would have had to fork out $150. These guys over here are great! I will continue to use them for all of my tire needs. And if you have a new car don't forget to run by discount and pay for the certificate on them! It's totally worth it and covers the lifetime of the tire (or 3 years, whichever comes first). I've definitely already gotten my money back. Now, if only everyone offered such good customer service as this place! We'd all be much happier! read more

Discount Tire has earned my business as a life time customer. I have strayed from the path once or twice, always with disastrous results and Discount welcomes me back with open arms, even getting me a warranty for tires I purchased from another distributor. This most recent visit to Discount, I was in dire need of front tires for my Audi Quattro and barely had the funds available at the time, but could not wait any longer safely. Upon inspection, the tech I was working with said we could get away with just the fronts but he really recommended against it because of potential for issues with my cars AWD system and I made him aware I already felt like my budget was stretched but understood the conflict. Fortunately, through some stroke of fate, he was able to manage to get me all four new, name brand tires for my vehicle, installed for only a few dollars above what I had originally budgeted (I believe the same brand and model as I was originally looking at too). Not only was I extremely thankful but very happy and my vehicle is now 100% more sure footed in these spring showers we've been getting recently. The staff is always knowledgable, friendly and courteous and taking advantage of the online scheduling can dramatically reduce wait times.
