Ended up with a screw in my tire during a storm and brought my truck here to see if it could either be repaired or get a new tire. The service guy, Nate, was extremely professional, attentive and forthcoming about what they could do for me. I was a walk in so I expected a wait, I got a text when it was done and found they were able to patch it up and it was free of charge. Came into Carson City Discount Tire because I had purchased a couple of tires a few weeks ago for my 2018 Honda Accord and my TPMS dash light was coming on. Wait in the lobby was a little long but once I was seen the service was excellent. They had me pull my car up and they checked my tires for proper psi. Once they determined everything was okay they thoroughly explained to me why the tire pressure light would come on in my dash and how to clear it myself. Thanks for taking care of me. Please do not use discount tire. I took my infiniti Q50 here for a balance and rotation. After leaving the lot, the car was shaking and clearly not balanced. Had to make a second appointment at this location 45 minutes away from my home. Inconveniently brought the car back for this second appointment and again after leaving the car was shaking and clearly unbalanced. Two days later, I took the car to Tires Plus and was told they were extremely unbalanced. They fixed them quickly and we've had no issues since!! I also have a 2021 Rav 4 that I took to discount tires at the same time to get a new set of rims. Ever since the rims were put on, my wheels squeak and make a loud cracking sound. Used to like these guys-no more-bought a set of tires they recommended - less than 20,000 miles I go in for a tire rotation - they said tire rotation wouldnt do me any good as all 4 tires were worn out. I remember the tires had a mileage warranty but when I asked about it they said there was no warranty and they wanted me to buy another set of tires. We're talking about a Toyota RAV 4 that is used for daily in town driving only. I left and went home to check the Discount Tire website and sure enough Discount Tire website shows a 65,000 mile milage warranty-I called Discount Tire and when I told them what I had found they tried to spin it around and say what I saw on their website was wrong. read more

I take all my cars here to Discount Tire for new tires as well as rotation and heaven forbid flat repair (free!). I usually wait for my car do be serviced, and the waiting room has WiFi so I can sit there and write reviews! I watch them to see that , yeah, they do rotate my tires in the way I wanted as well as torquing the bolts or nuts with a torque wrench. None of this blasting on the lug nuts with just the air wrench ... bam bam bam DONE! You'll end up with over tightened bolts or nuts and or stripped threads! Other tire shops just blast them on, but here they hand thread to start, tighten with air wrench to just tight, the finish with the torque wrench by hand to the specified tightness of your vehicle. Do you shopping online and you'll have a large choice of tires at fair prices. Make an appointment is the trick nowadays with the labor shortage. Even with an appointment, you might have to wait 2 weeks out, that's how bad the shortage is ... they got plenty of tires! Used to be able to just walk in and get services, but not anymore, unless you get here before opening are are the first waiting in line at 8am opening. My first experience with this location was great! I had purchased some tires from their sister location (America's Tire) in California. The tires had a 70k mile warranty. My tires were pretty bald after 45,000 miles. I called and spoke with Austen. He was very helpful in helping me pick out some all-weather tires for my Subaru. He also said that they would likely offer some credit for the tires I had purchased from America's Tire since they did not last 70k miles, but I needed to bring the tires in for inspection. When I arrived, another staff named John came out and examined my tires. He calculated the tread depth with the mileage and I ended up getting a credit for $165! (Note: You must have had your tires rotated regularly to get the credit.) I got a new set of Goodyear tires with the credit applied. I also got an additional $160 in rebates! The estimated time for installation was one hour which was almost exactly when my car was ready. All of the staff were friendly, helpful and professional. Make sure they actually rotate your tires when they say they will. I know for a fact mine didn't get rotated at my last appointment. I've been a loyal Discount Tire customer for as long as I can remember. I can't begin to think how many tires I've bought from them over the years for both my personal vehicles as well as my work rigs. Yes - they are occasionally busy so service can be slow at times, but that's any business really and easy to stomach for reliable service and good prices. Well that changed yesterday. I'll no longer be giving this particular establishment any business going forward and I strongly recommend against them. They are dishonest and I won't give money to a business that attempts to deceive its customers. I dropped my vehicle off before I went to work because I didn't have an appointment so just planned to pick it up afterwards thinking 8 hours would be plenty of time to get the rotation done. Well when I went back to pick up my car I was immediately suspicious that it was in the same spot and same parking orientation that I left it. My suspicion was confirmed when I went inside to inquire and they couldn't find my keys or any paperwork. I would have been disappointed but could have accepted if they had just admitted that it fell through the cracks and then immediately did the work. I accept that human beings make mistakes. However, the on duty assistant manager insisted that, according to his records on the computer, my car had been in the bay for 10 minutes that day and the work got done. Sadly, there were too many things pointing towards the work NOT being done - 1) car parked exactly where and how I left it 2) keys in the center console where I left them rather than behind the counter where they always are 3) no paperwork or documentation of any kind at all inside. Needless to say, I left a bit upset - I really dislike being lied to and I really felt I was being deceived here. The same assistant manager (John) even called me shortly after I left the shop to continue to insist the work got done. I advised him that I intended to check the tires when I got home. He admitted that, yes, the front tires should show more tread depth than the rears if they had been rotated. Well - big surprise - when I checked the tires I had 8/32 on both fronts and 9/32 on both rears. The work wasn't done and that makes me wonder what other service they've lied about or haven't done. read more

I got a quote for new tires from DT, it was quite a bit more than one of the competitors I was considering, and so I decided not to go with DT. DT objected by matching the price. Only DT did it by quietly zeroing out hazard protection insurance I explicitly asked for and made sure it was on the quote. The manager accommodating me at the time tried really hard to get me to change the tires that same moment and not wait until the day that was convenient for me. I thought it was weird because it was less than an hour before closing and their service always took longer than an hour or more like closer to two. As I arrived on the day of the scheduled appointment the person I never met hustled me into needing alignment done with their affiliated store right off the bat, some no name shop on Highway 50, and that I'll get some discount for it from DT. Also he said it shouldn't cost too much because as my car is front wheel drive, they would only need to align front wheels. For real. Sketchy as sketchy can possibly be. And after that he was attempting to gaslight me about what was on the quote and what I will get. I couldn't understand why I have to go over it again when I already spent so much time discussing it before. Well, maybe it was for the best. Literally I asked him, 'I'm going to get Hazard warranty insurance , right?' , and he says 'yes, you will get rotation and balancing on us'. I clarify that it's not the same. He was just squirming. Finally, he points out a tiny zero next to the hazard insurance price in the quote. To them it would mean that ' I chose to opt out of it'. And if I want it, it would be more. When it became apparent what a nasty game they played, I was appalled. I've been servicing my previous car with them for years. Just imagining towing the car to them in case anything would happen only to find out I'm not covered shook me. Nasty. This is not a way to do business and more people need to know about their practice. The guy who was hustling me laughed at me with his colleague as I was exiting the shop, terribly upset and in disbelief, having missed half a day of work and having waited for this stupid appointment for so long. Not to mention absolutely disgusting talking down to me, gaslighting me, attempting to distract me and scare me with their stupid display board of tire traction length and slimy 'we'll take care of you'. I asked him, why is he showing me this board if I'm about to get new tires right now? He really didn't like me saying it. What's going on there????? And what do you know, as I returned to the other shop I was considering, they showed me the specs of my car and told me that there's absolutely nothing wrong with the alignment. I must give a special thanks to Manny, Nate, and this store for a last minute save from our "doughnut." I have tires I bought from a big, well-known, "wholesale" box store, which promises to fix, at no extra charge, my flat tires purchased from the same chain. Welp, this is the second time that unnamed box store chain has found a reason to not only not fix my flat, (a nail in the sidewall; tire must be replaced; they did not have the replacement tire in stock) and, without consulting me, put on my "temporary" doughnut, which is only good for fifty miles. The problem was this car was our tow-behind of our motorhome and we were about 150 miles from home. So, driving from Reno back to our campsite in South Lake Tahoe, we decided to try to find a replacement outright and, later, use it or the current tire as a spare. We contacted Discount Tire and Manny suggested we could buy a another wheel and any old tire to change out the doughnut. We arrived 30 minutes before closing. They easily could have sent us away to wait for tomorrow. Moreover, they agreed to let my disabled wife and son remain in the car while the tire was changed out. Within 45 minutes and as a walk-in, Manny had us back on the road. Friendly and professional, I recommend this store. My only criticism is that I did not found out that the wheel sold us requires proprietary lugs, which must have a key to unlock, until it was already mounted with the tire. They included the key, but now I must lug around a separate set of lugs and their key for my spare. This would not have been my first choice, hence four stars, instead of five. Purchased"in stock" winter tires online January 9th and scheduled appointment for January 12th for installation. Winter storm forces postponement, reschedule January 15th. Drive 30 miles for appointment and only 1 tire is available. Discount associate claims they were never "in stock" but I was still able to purchase them and make an appointment. Get home and look online and it's showing 1 tire in stock, what a coincidence. Feels like they sold my tires during the winter storm and hoped they got them back in stock by the time of my appointment. Their solution was for me to return. (11/4/2022) I had a flat in the same tire I patched twice, so I knew I was due for a new set. I went with discount tire because we've worked with them in the past in Vegas and I knew they did financing. So I ordered tires and knew from the website that they do walk ins and I'd just spend the day in Carson. Discount calls me on the phone, and the man and I talk about the possibility of me being there all day but I'd get my tires installed by the end of they day. Cool with me. So I drive the 70 miles on my spare, and get there as soon as they open and there's a huge line. All well. A lady behind me asked if she waited in line she'd get her tires installed and they said yes; we will stop taking walk ins at 10 or 11. So since I'm in front of her I should be good and it's not even 9, right? I wait in line for a total of an hour, only to be told they can't install my tires at all today. I don't live in Carson so I just said I'll take my tires and find someone who can. That someone was the Dodge dealership down the street. They charge $150 for tire installation and provide a free shuttle so you can get breakfast and do some shopping while you wait. I was able to get home on my new set of shoes thanks to them. So any stranded DT customers you can go there to get your tires installed, haha. I'm just hoping when I get my Discount Tires credit card in the mail I wasn't charged for the installation that didn't happen. I like the tires, sucks you couldn't install them. I have been in there multiple times with the tires I bought. They are not capable of keeping appointments. Don't schedule online because those don't get put on their schedule. Don't ever have a problem with the tires. They left me stranded when I got a flat and I had to fight them to honor their tire warranty only to be told they needed the car for overnight to fix the flat. They only have 2 bays with cars in them and a bunch of employees walking around not working. They don't take walk ins. They don't value customers and they aren't very willing to honor warranties. This is the first time I've bought tires there and when I need new tires I wont be buying them from here. The other place I usually use is the same price, better service, and worth the extra miles to go back with the other company. In my opinion, you should pass on this place. I just bought 4 new Blizzak snow tires for my Grand Cherokee. I immediately noticed a pronounced vibration coming through the steering wheel at 60 mph+. Thinking I needed a wheel alignment, I went to my Jeep Dealer. They drove it and verified my concerns. The dealership said, your tires are severely out of balance and you don't need an alignment. I had them rebalance the tires, which were out of kilter on all 4 tires by 0.25 to 1.25 oz. Problem solved. After speaking with Discount Tire - all they said was sorry and blamed a weight that may have popped off the rim. Well - that didn't happen on all four tires. Somebody did a lousy job and they don't want to address their workmanship or lack thereof. Go somewhere else. Cheap prices are not worth your safety. read more

They got me in same day. Which was nice. Got out a few minutes before close. As soon as I hit the highway at 60 mph the steering wheel was shaking bad. At that point they were closed. TPMS light went off. They didn't reset that. Stopped for gas and noticed they didn't even put my valve stem caps back on. Called the next day and told them about the issues. I brought it back in and they fixed the balance issue. Didn't replace the valve stem caps and told me to go to the dealership to reset the TPMS. I went to the dealership and they wanted 200 dollars to reset it. So I went back and told them. Only response was our scanner only goes to 2014. I said so I am stuck with a flat light and no way of knowing if it's actually low? Response was our scanner only goes to 2014. They were completely unapologetic about any of the issues. Although they got me in and out fairly quickly the messed up on the tires I wanted. First they installed the tires with the white lettering in after I specifically told the the opposite, then just inflated the tires to 32 psi. My vehicle class for 35 front and 41 rear. They didn't preform any kind of checks on the vehicle (brake condition, oil, alignment etc.). They just wanted the money it seems. Spend a few more bucks and go to Big O or another reputable tire shop. read more

The very first time I took my car there for a service, they told me I needed a new air filter, I had just changed it myself and they brought out some old air filter to show me how dirty it was and it wasn't even mine.
