I am writing this review on behalf of my mother Liza who had the absolute worst possible experience imaginable with this company. Recently someone noticed my tires were bad and made a comment to me - I went to costco and they confirmed that I needed to urgently replace my tires but were unavailable to take me for several days. As I left costco and drove home I saw Discount Tires, and decided to walk in. Allen (the employee I spoke with) confirmed my tires were in dire need of replacement. I asked if they could take me today and he said YES. $740 later, I completed the transaction and asked when they could work on my car. He said they could take me at 345 and at the time it was 124 PM; given it wasn't too long, I decided I would wait for my car. I asked if I had time to drive my husband home (he is mentally disabled and would be better waiting at home instead of in the heat at the location). Allen said yes, but please do it ASAP because we need your key/car. I returned in under 20 minutes. At 3 pm I noticed my car was still sitting there and asked, when will my car be ready? Once again, Allen said 345. All the while, many other people are coming and going, but my car is still sitting there. 345 roles around and nothing... I went to Allen and told him, If you didn't plan on taking my car right away, why didn't you tell me? I wouldn't have sat here and waited, I would have gone home and come back when you were available to work on the car. Or I would have had someone pick me up. Either way, I wouldn't sit here for HOURS. So again I asked.... when will you work on my car? He now says 4 pm... It is now 5 pm and my car is STILL SITTING THERE. I again asked Allen, are you working on my car???? It's already 5, when do you close? He said they close at 6 pm... so again, are you working on the car like you said you would? Why did you make me wait here for HOURS when I could have left and come back when you can actually take me... 530 pm... I'm pacing.... waiting for my car.... still sitting there. And Allen approaches me with $50 and says "Sorry you had to wait so long, hopefully this will make you less angry". Are you kidding me? Is this a joke? NO $50 WILL NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Be HONEST when someone asks you when their call will be worked on. THAT is what will make a difference. Don't string people along for hours....... THAT will make me less angry. 545 PM and they FINALLY take my car. And you know what? It took them FOURTEEN MINUTES to complete the work on my car. 14 minutes and I waited for over 4 hours while constantly being lied to about when my car will be worked on. NOW all of a sudden Allen is claiming he never said he would take the car right away. Ask yourself.... how can that be? If Allen said 345 in the first place (several times in fact) AND had the audacity to try and pay me off with $50 for taking so long.... do you really think we made up the fact that we would be ready at 345? Do yourself a favor and AVOID THIS PLACE. There are several other tire options in the area and the discount prices are NOT worth the discount 'customer service' read more

Raymond. The actual goat. More than a man -- a legend. We got 2 flat tires and had to replace every single one of our tires and Raymond and his crew were quick and more than willing to help. This was one of the poorest customer service experiences I've had in recent memory. I chose Discount Tire because of previous good results from America's Tires (same company, different name in CA). I ordered a new set of Blizzak snow tires which they said would arrive in a few days. After two weeks and numerous phone calls I called one last time to see what had happened to my order. I told the guy on the phone that I'd just cancel the job if they hadn't arrived. He said he'd call me back in 15 minutes if that was ok. Fine, I'm easy. Well, apparently he found them so I said ok, made an appointment that afternoon. When we got there I was told they were a couple of appointments behind. Fine, I have a cell phone to amuse myself. The wife and I had a seat in the waiting area. After an hour and a half, the wife gets a little antsy and goes to the counter to see what's up. Guy says, yeah, it's been done for 20 minutes. Bottom line is: customer service is non-existent here. I called them at least 4 times with no response until the last call, made an appointment, paid for the tires and wasted at least 20 minutes longer than if they'd just had the common courtesy to let me know my car was done. The tires are great, the price is really not a great bargain, but I had to do all the work (except mounting and balancing. I will not be making this mistake again. read more

As we we're traveling down 395 towards Carson, my van starting making a banging sound. The spare tire holder underneath (no spare) was flapping against the undercarriage. We pulled into Discount Tire in Carson. I went inside and explained the problem, and asked if he could remove it. Zack has us pull into the bay, jacked it up and removed the broken plastic piece. He didn't charge us and we continued on our vacation. This is the only chain I buy tires from. read more

This review should have been written over a year ago! The only reason it wasn't is because I'm doggone lazy, and I kept waiting for the review to write itself. Doesn't look like that's ever going to happen, so... here I go: I rarely rave about "chain" stores. Most of them are too corporate and because they're already big enough to be a recognized chain, they don't need to try harder or go out of their way to attract business, let alone have to worry about earning repeat business. But Discount Tire is different. I love 'Discount Tire'. Didja hear me? I said, "I LOVE 'DISCOUNT TIRE'!!" I first started using Discount Tire quite a number of years ago, while I was living in Phoenix, Airheadzona. I probably went there initially just because one of the chain stores was near where I lived; it was just convenient. But I liked how they did business; I liked how they got me in, done, and on the road again in a timely fashion. So, I kept going back to Discount Tire because I had no complaints about them. Then I did a stupid thing: I moved to Reno ("The Biggest Little Disappointment In The World"). In early February of 2018, one of my old tires had developed a leak. I wasn't able to discern the cause, but every couple days I had to inject more air in the tire. So, in the middle of February, 2018, I drove to the Discount Tire on Big Fish Drive in Sparks, NV. I figured that since the tires had originally been purchased at Discount Tire in Phoenix, I ought to take it to one of their branches near me in Nevada. I asked Mr. Geoffrey Rivas at their Sparks store if he thought the tire could be repaired, and if not, I'd need to buy a replacement. Geoff examined the tires and told me that although they still had enough tread to be legal, all 4 tires were close to being kaput, and he asked me if I wanted him to look into what it would cost to replace them all. I couldn't afford 4 new tires and I told him so, but Geoff said, "Let me just look into it a bit and see what we can do", so I gave him the OK. I had ZERO intention of buying 4 new tires unless I hit a jackpot at some casino. (And, no, I hardly ever gamble, so this just wasn't going to happen!) Mr. Rivas did some research on the company computer - he was inputting data here, there, and everywhere - while I twiddled my thumbs and hoped I'd not have to buy even one new tire. (I was still hoping for a repair job on the one bad tire.) At the conclusion of his calculating, Mr. Rivas told me that I'd not gotten the guaranteed amount of mileage from my previous set of 4 tires. And "unfortunately" that tire company no longer made that exact type of tire. Therefore, Discount Tire could give me 4 brand new tires of a different, less expensive brand, and also reimburse me $51 on top of that. BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!!... This also happened to be February and Discount Tire was running a Presidents' Day special: Put 4 new tires on your car and Discount would give you a $75 Prepaid Visa card to spend on whatever you wanted, wherever Prepaid Visa cards are accepted. I just stood there for a couple minutes, slack-jawed, and trying to wrap my mind around what Mr. Rivas was telling me. Me: "Sir, it sounds like you're saying to me that Discount Tire is going to put 4 brand new tires on my car AND pay me $126 dollars for accepting them." Mr. Rivas: "Yes. ...You're waiting for 'the catch', right? There's no catch. That's exactly the deal." It goes without saying that Geoffrey Rivas didn't need to reveal all of this to me. He could have just offered to repair or replace my leaking tire and I never would have been the wiser. Also needless to say, I am a Discount Tire customer for life! AND AS IF THAT WEREN'T ENOUGH!!!... I recently moved from "The Biggest Little Disappointment In The World" to lovely Carson City (I call it "Willoughberry"). Shortly after my move, I got an Email reminder from Discount Tire that it was time to visit and get my 4 tires balanced and rotated - for FREE! So, I spoke with a nice gentleman named Ray Cawley at the Discount Tire in Carson City and he took care of this free service for me. Ever since that February day in 2018, when Discount Tire gave me $126 to accept 4 new tires, myriad things have seemed to go really well for me. It feels like a "Refresh" or "Reset" button was activated in my life. I've been calling it "A New Day". Thank you, Discount Tire, for my "New Day"! I had a nail in my tire I took it into discount Tire. I was told my tires were too old and they told me legaly they couldnt repair it and that my tires were worn out and that I needed new tires. I said your wasting my time and left. I then took it to the other major tire store just down the street. They used a tread depth gauge and told me my tires should be good for another year and were happy to fix my flat. I am never coming to Discount Tire again. read more

Writing this review on behalf of my Dad, he went in For installment on his new tires (9-26-20) which he purchased from tire rack, all four tires came with hardware included free of charge from tire rack, so the reason I'm writing this review is because my dad before taking the tires to get installed he double checked to make sure all lug nuts and hardware was included, so after all was installed my dad noticed there was a charge for lug nuts and hardware, this is a warning for anyone going to install tires, make sure to hand them the lug nuts and hardware because they are basically overcharging or should I say thieving people of their hardware, I spoke to the manager myself Mitch and at first was professional with us but then I asked him how are you going to make this right for us "the customer" after multiple times telling him that the hardware was included and also not taking our word, finally after all Mitch got upset with us and said "fine! Let's go inside I'll give you a refund!" So I thanked him for him for making this right as it was very upsetting on how he handled the situation and how it didn't have to end in argument instead of taking our word and resolving the issue promptly, very poor customer service any though I issue was resolved it's shouldn't of never escalated as it should of. read more

I have emailed and left messages on their phone. Never returned my calls or emails. The only way I could leave a message was I call in the middle of the night. It does not allow me to leave a message any other time. I called 11/10/21 at 5:45. I stayed on hold to 6:17. No one answered the phone. In fact I've called numerous times for months and THEY DONT ANSWER YHEIR PHONES, AT ALL. This was the last time I called. I will write a letter. When I have gone in there so busy. After 20 minutes I left. I have never in 45 years experienced such poor/no customer service what so ever. I guess the only customer service online they respond to is sales. The funny thing is that the discount is so small why go there in the first place. The reason for my continual efforts is I purchased a set of Michelin's for my 1999 Subaru about 2 years ago. They were special order. They were never installed. The tires were purchased and are paid in full. Did they sell my tires off to someone else? Absolute thieves. Small claims court would be easier to get my money back. I wouldn't buy tires from them if they were the last tire store on earth. Walking would be quicker than waiting for a return call or email from them. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! FYI-I was on hold until I finished my review today, 11/10/21. Never again. Ever, never, ever again will I visit this store. Dropped my car off at 10am, was told it was busy but car would be ready at 4pm. 4:30pm and it hasn't moved. Asked them when I can expect it to be ready and they said it was STILL 5th in line. Staff said it wasn't their fault that it hasn't moved...over 100 people came in the store and they were short staffed. Weird that they didn't tell me this before I spent close to $900 on wheels. Told them to give me my money back and I'll go somewhere else and WOULDN'T YA JUST GUESS...my car is next in line. Tried to explain that I understand things happen and if they'd just communicated this to me, I wouldn't be upset. Got the, "whatever Karen, just go away" look. These guys have saved my butt twice when dealing with a "nail in tire" situation and also have some of the best prices and shipping times on tires. I had a Model 3 and now a Model Y and they took care of both cars very well. Also, their tire road hazard insurance can not be beat... especially when tires are in the multi hundred dollar range in this day and age. I actually have had quite a few experiences with this location since they opened several years ago. All my experiences have been very positive. However I normally deal with Zach. He is a great guy and also strives to give great customer service and great prices. He is very knowledgeable, friendly and professional in person or on the phone when I am just inquiring on prices and information. I have ordered wheels and tires etc... on several occasions and every experience has been a good one. So if you are in need of tires and or wheels come see Zach for exceptional service. Nov 10th 2015 updated: Last night I purchased a set of tires for my Ford Raptor. The store was absolutely packed with customers and as usual Zach offered outstanding customer service to all. It seemed to be just another outstanding experience at Discount Tire. When I got home I noticed that 3 of my Fuel Trophy wheels had been slightly damaged upon de and remounting of the new tires. So I went back to the store the next morning knowing I was in for in for a heated discussion. I always praise the customer service at this store but now it was about to be tested. Without any hassles Zach said he was sorry for the problem and would take care of it. WOW, no hassles, no arguing no excuses just good old fashion customer service. It says allot for the integrity of Zach and the staff at Discount Tire in Carson City Nevada. Hands down the BEST customer service around !!! May 17th 2016 updated Zach saves the day again !!! After my Ford Raptor was in a accident the dealer said my tires where no longer available and there was none to be had. Zach was able to locate one desperately needed tire and wheels. Visiting the area my notification came up in my vehicle that I needed tire maintenance so we stopped in ( my tires were originally purchased from one of there stores in another state ) I gave them my phone number and my information popped up they were happy to assist me with a free tire rotation and balance . They suggested I make a appointment so I did for the next day . I was in and out in 30-40 Minutes . They also suggested I replace my windshield wipers and they gave me 2 recommendations I chose the lesser prices blades and they installed them as well for free with purchase . They are very helpful , recommended a possible new tire purchase at next rotation time , honest and waiting room and bathrooms are very clean . I highly recommend this tire store . Been a customer for years and purchased many sets. The store in Orangevale is excellent. Went to the store in Carson City for a simple tire rotation and a nail removal. Info. was taken and updated. Waited around and kept getting pushed back in queue. After over an hour and a half, I told them I would like to make an appt. at 11am next day. Waited and waited. Text said I was 3rd. Next text, 2nd. Next, first. Then saw car after car going in. Sales guy said he had no record of any of my info. There is a term for this: 'cluster-f.' Will go to another store next time. read more

I had destroyed a tire on my vehicle and ordered the replacement through Discount Tire in Carson City. It took a week to get the tire and 15 minutes to mount. I worked with three employees during the process and each were helpful, expedient and valued my time. After reading previous reviews for this business I was expecting less than optimal service that I had experienced over the past ten years dealing with this store. Wow what a successful operation. I like the free tire pressure check station, good marketing. I spoke to Charley about new wheels for my truck and planned to place an order. I stopped by a couple of times to do so. Parking on the lot all 5 bays were full. An employee walking the parking lot gave me a hello, as i approached the office another employee working in bay #1 did acknowledge me. Both times full bays and 4-5 in line at the counter. UNFORTUNATELY I do not have the time to wait for a couple of hours to place and pay for a set of rims. read more

On my recent visit their customer service fell flat. There weren't nearly enough staff causing long wait times just to get to a rep. After having to call he finally found the tires I wanted but couldn't get anyone on the phone to confirm I could get them in 5 days or less. I expressed my need to have them by Saturday and I was in the store at lunchtime on Monday. He left a message at what sounded like their distribution center and promised a call back to me by the end of the day so we could proceed with the order. I made sure he had both of my phone numbers so I could be reached at one if I wasn't at the other. I NEVER got a return phone call so I ended up going to one of their competitors. Can't say I'll be back to give them any of my business anytime soon. Others are much more eager to earn my business! read more

Called @ 9:20 a.m. to see about making an appointment to replace two tires Same day. They said no appt. needed if I came right away as there were only a couple people there. I showed up within half an hour. Upon checking in they said it would take TWO-hours to complete, that they had a couple people ahead of me and two others who had made a prior appts. 2 hours later, I had to ask about my vehicle. "20 more minutes" they replied! It's now 30 minutes later and I'm still waiting. Very Few people here... Their delay has cost more than they'll know . I've missed two appts. And can't do anything about it as my vehicle is up on their jack without wheels. read more

Terrible service!!! Came in at 3:15pm and bought 4 new tires. The clerk told me top have a seat and they'd get started on my car. 2 hours later, it was still sitting in the parking lot and I'm getting lots of excuses about why they haven't started it yet. If they hag been upfront with me from the start, I could've gone home and made dinner for my family and then returned before they closed. Instead, I paid over $500 to sit in their mediocre waiting area listening to crap music. If you're going to shop here, make sure you get an appointment first. Otherwise you could be stuck here way longer than you'd like. read more

I was pleasantly amazed! I called Thur at 9- and they advised they had my 35" BFG tire in stock. I showed up at 11 and they gave advice to change the spare to one I was running. I had them installed and they made the change to the spare. They finished on committed time and walked me around the jeep to discuss what they did. Amazing job by a great group and team! I left a tire on a rim with a slow leak to them last Thursday, I received a text at about 5pm that day saying it was ready to be picked up. I went to pick it up Monday morning and the person getting the tire noticed that it was flat. The leak was in the sidewall, they said they could put a new tire on it in about 20 minutes, I said I needed to go to Lowe's and would be back in about 20 minutes, I returned about 35 minutes later and they hadn't even started on the tire, they said after they finished a BMW they would start on mine. Most Discount Tire stores are great but NOT this one. They have refused me service so many times because they are busy even showing up as early as 10am on a weekday. They don't service your car while you wait and instead force you to leave it with them. And they don't allow appointments within 2 weeks. read more

Im a long time customer of Discount/Americas tire. I found a nail in my tire this morning. Too late to make an Appointment. I have the free replacements certificates, etc. The nail is in a repairable area. They have always told me to just come in for a quick repair if I have an issue. Well, today I drove from Reno to Carson City and arrived at this store at 9:45am. I was expecting to wait a bit, but was told 5:30pm!!! Really, for a quick flat repair when I'm not near home. Great service. Ordered custom wheels for my truck.. I narrowed my choice to 3 different styles. We checked all 3 including price & availability . Jon was knowledgeable regarding each manufacturer and rim type. I ordered the wheels and they arrived in 6 days. I was notified by email & installation appointment was auto scheduled. Wheels were installed as scheduled. The original wheels were placed in the new boxes along with hardware & loaded into my truck. Their wheel prices beat all 6 competitors from Carson City to Reno. The BOSS CHANGED MY TIRES! WHAT A STAFF. 12 years ago I put tires with same people! Service? Senior and military. I checked prices at every tire dealer in Carson City proper. Actually after extensive research, Discount Tire on South Carson is the best value, the incredible lowest cost per tire, the absolute cheapest mounting (for my car), and to date, I've new-tired 5 vehicles in 12 years, including an RV, Jeep monster, and low profile tires. Recommendations for best fit, safest fit and on SS, fit my budget beyond my expectations. My son has fitted a fleet in Vegas and continues here in Carson City. I came close to exuberant now that the car wheels fit firm on the road now. I won't be worried if a mom with kids buys this car now. read more

Great experience. Josh took very good care of us. My wife and I were on a long road trip and needed tires. Josh found a set that would fit our car and budget. We didn't have a key to the lock nut so he was able to break them off with a special tool and he found four used lug nuts that would work and replaced them at no charge. Great customer service Josh.
