A couple weeks ago popped in @ open to get my PSI sorted. I turned in behind the store coming off of 53rd Ave, waited for an employee to come over so I could ask if they did PSI checks? He said they did but I needed to go around. Which was turn back out on to 53rd, then right on to Central and turn in just after the building. I waited nearly 10 minutes for service but in fairness it was pretty much 8:00 so they were getting a truck set up in a bay for real work. Just as I was backing up to leave a fella came over to assist, so I got back in behind the cones. After it was all done he kindly moved the cones so I could pull out on to the street instead of attempting to back up around the building. Thanks for the PSI top off! read more

Call me Impressed! My experience at the Columbia Heights facility could not have been better. In particular, Skylar Gregory gave me the best customer service I have had anywhere. He met me at the door, immediately came to my car to see the situation, went back into the store to see if they had the tire I needed, and ordered it. I was notified first thing the next morning that the tire was in stock and would be ready for me when I came in. I came in needed 1 tire forced me to get 2 tires was told a time it would be done and it's still not even pulled in the bay. Very slow and the guys in the front like to joke around and not work. once again I brought up problem like everybody else that had a bad experience,and it seems to be almost identical they can't do anything wrong . they did apologize but customers don't get paid for waiting on slow service that at times is wrong service or having to come back to get service rectified .the last three times I had problems with the team at Columbia heights . it starts from the top down before the manager derrick was managing service was always superb . now he thinks he can just apologize for incompetent service and poor customer service . and stop trying to take advantage of unsuspecting people that just need their vehicle repaired. in these times we need real people and not people trying to make commission on every unsuspecting American citizen. I contacted this location after my tire ran over a nail, and they said, "We will patch it no problem, FOR FREE." After I got there they were trying to convince me that my 6 month old tires were, "COMPLETELY WORN OUT." Instead of patching my tire like they promised, they tried selling me tires for 20 minutes before ultimately refusing to fix it. I guess they don't honor their tire warranty like they say they do. This place is filled with greedy salesmen who are trying to squeeze every penny out of you instead of trying to get you back on the road. Horrible experience. Would absolutely recommend this Discount Tire. I recently went there to get my tires changed. The prices and inventory seemed the best. Their online tire finder/appointment scheduler is really easy to use. I was able to make a next day appointment. When I arrived, there was a short line to check in, but it moved quickly. I drove from AZ home to the twin cities and on this past Monday everything just wasn't going well. I came home to bury my mom and that morning I locked myself out of the car. It was running , air conditioning cranked and my phone and purse inside. $300 for a locksmith and as I pulled away I had a flat. Bret told me that my tires were deteriorating on the inside and he showed me. I brought two and then he was back. Two more needed . My sis chimed in right away , and she paid for the last two tires . I went in today as a walk-in for a new set of tires for my Jeep. Terrence was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. The service itself was delivered on time, I didn't feel pressured on any upselling, and they had ample space to wait for my vehicle. Added bonus is it's walking distance to Target and Petco so you can get some errands done while you wait! Would definitely recommend this shop, it seemed like everyone there was working hard. I went to Discount Tires for the first time and did a walk-in because the place I usually go to was all booked and a few colleagues of mines recommended it, AND, I sure was very impressed and super THANKFUL that I did. I went around 9AM on a Saturday and my car was ready by 12:30PM that day. Luckily, I went when they were still having their Black Friday deal (whole month of November) and paid around $500 for all four NEW all season tires plus I got a free $70 Visa Gift card in the mail. Nicole was super helpful and I definitely recommend her! She was honest with me and willing to talk through different tire options, break down the prices for me (which was SUPER nice- for someone who knows nothing about cars), and explained how I could redeem a free Visa gift card. Tips- They have an over-fill parking lot so if it gets kind of busy- dont worry about it- they're prepare and have a place for you to park. They are also honest on how long it will take if you do a walk-in. Also, if you end up waiting around for your turn or car- there is free wifi and a mini shopping area across the street (Super Target, Starbucks, etc.). read more

This is a comment I sent to Discount Tire when they sent me a survey: Well holy frickin' amaze balls, where have you been all my car driving life of 37 years?? I mean you were around, but I never bothered to check into you until last week. I called my dealership who does all the maintenance on the 4 vehicles I have bought from them. They told me they could not get me in for a week for a simple tire repair. A WEEK. Apparently I don't mean as much to them as they tell me I do in all their advertising. Now I know. I thought my safety should be a little more important so I then called Discount Tire because you are nearby. I called at 4:15, was told I could come right in... WHAT? I was told to expect about 30-45 minute wait... HUH? They got me in as soon as I got there, no waiting... REALLY? Walked away for a burger,came back & it was ready.. WHO DOES THAT? Then you won't take my money.... SERIOUSLY? Free tire repair? What is this sorcery???? Well, I'm still recovering from an Amazing Customer Service experience I thought didn't exist anymore. Professional, friendly Advisors who keep their promises... so THIS is what it must have felt life to live in 1955. I should mention I have worked in car dealerships and auto-body shops for 20 years. I love this place for my review #20 this year. Reviews are coming in slow and easy considering what a year we have been with not much of a social life. However, when you get a flat on your tire, you got to do what's needed even though I hardly use my car this year. I am slightly OCD, I want it all taken care of before I leave it in the garage and cancel my car insurance for the rest of the year...haha! So it appears that I have been a customer since 2000 but, I haven't had to visit them in the last 5 years. After going through several cars, they really did take care of my needs for this time. I did a price check with my dealership and even with the tire prorate credit, Discount Tires still came out cheaper. The covid prevention steps at the store were acceptable, and they did not compromise on their great customer service even with the pandemic circumstance. Jordan at Columbia Heights was awesome. He was friendly and knowledgeable. They took care of me and offered me a good credit back on my bill when I showed up for my original appointment and had to return the next day because they accidentally installed my tire on another customer's car. They even offered me a warranty on the rest of the tires, which I did not purchase from them. I now can have unlimited tire replacement and I tell ya, it was a peace of mind. My husband was so freaked out about driving my car because my run flat tires are prone to failure from pot holes so he has not driven my car for the last two years. I hope he will drive my car now. Second flat tire in the last year. Went back to Discount Tire after experiencing great customer service the first time. They fix flat tires for free (within certain parameters). I ended up purchasing two tires on the first visit after my flat was unfixable. Last night, I was able to get the car there despite a steady leak. It was two hours after closing and they were still working on vehicles! I chose not to bother them, got there first thing the next morning to find a long line at the front door. The one guy I recognized (the manager?) was friendly, thanking everybody for their patience and thanking customers for their business. He and the other guy working the counter were telling everybody that their vehicle would be done today but that it might be after "closing time" (although we'd still be able to pick it up that day) and I have no doubt that he's right. I can't say enough nice things about Discount Tire and I sing their praises to everybody with which the conversation comes up (including the Lyft drivers that ferry me to and from the store)! I went there to get my tires patch, few of my friends who are men, told me to go there because apparently they patch for free. When I got there, they tried me sell me a tires but I didn't want to buy because they had 2sizes smaller than my tire, I believe his name was Tyler and he said "it's only couple inches smaller and it wouldn't make any difference, trust me I went o school for this and your tires are not patchable", mind you I have a large SUV and the nail was on top of the tire, and my other friend who lives far away who is also a mechanic said not to let them convince me to buy those tires because sizes do matter and manufacture requirements are there for a reason, SAFETY. So because I denied buying tires from them after 30mins or so, they said they won't patch my tire and didn't even say anything else, and just walked away to assist someone else. No professionalism, no courtesy, no empathy. So I went to my dealership, they said it's patchable and patched it and still driving it until when I buy new tire before winter. read more

This shop is the tops. I've been coming here for all my tire needs for 15 years, and they always take care of whatever is going on, for a fair price and in a reasonable amount of time. I could, perhaps, save a bit up front by buying tires somewhere else, but the service received down the line more than makes up for it. Rotate? Free. Winter tire swap? Free. Repair damage? Free. Turnaround time? Always good except Saturdays and right after the first winter storm but that's completely normal. On busy days I've seen them keep working for hours after close to be sure everyone who came in is taken care of. Keep it up! I won't go anywhere else. read more

First of all, you shouldn't be allowed to have the word "discount" in your company's name when your prices are relatively standard or even MORE EXPENSIVE than your competition!! My first complaint is with the absolutely horrendous customer service. There were at least five people in line waiting to be helped when I first got there. But we all stood there for about 5 minutes as each of the employees answered telephone calls instead of talking to us (very annoying and rude) I went into Discount Tire to buy 4 new Hankook tires because they are getting great reviews everywhere online and were advertised as having a $40 rebate. The first thing that the salesman did was try to talk me into buying different tires with worse ratings and that cost $50 more. I'd like to start by saying that I'm extremely paranoid about going in for any kind of car-related service, unless I'm going to Amigo Service Center. I insisted on going on my own to get my first oil change at the age of 17, and came home $60 poorer and had to answer to an angry father. I'm the girl with the eyes narrowed into slits, staring across the counter at the person helping me, willing them to confess that they are indeed ripping me off - and no, I don't really need all those extra filters and rotations. I really didn't want to ask my boyfriend or father to do any more car-related maintenance things for me though (that pesky pride again...) so I went in to Discount Tire yesterday on my own, totally prepared with my homework done. I knew what kind of tires I wanted. The cheapest ones, obviously. Terry helped me, and although I stared him down he didn't flinch. He saw my packet of print outs from their website and let me say my piece. Of course Terry has a job to do, so he wouldn't sell me the $48 tires. Instead he sold me $65 tires for $60. Well done Terry! When I explained that I rarely drive my car, and the only reason I was in there to get new tires was because my Amigo guys told me a year ago that it was dangerous to drive with the old ones, and at this point it felt like they might fly off the car at any moment, he nodded calmly but he persisted. He wouldn't put the $48 tires on his own car, and they would be worthless in the winter. I thought about what I would have to say for myself when I found myself in ditches repeatedly this January (Dad would scold me for not spending the extra $12 per tire when I should have) and acquiesced. Terry tried to get me to bite when he mentioned I was missing a hubcap, but for chrissake I could care less. He didn't press the matter, which is why I like him - he seems to know exactly what he can and can't try for and he doesn't push too hard. I never felt uncomfortable or like I was being "sold" something. Suggestions were made but if I said no, he respected that. They could have done the car within the hour if I hadn't dropped it off right as they were closing, but they were happy to have my car sleep over. Very prompt service! When I went to pick it up today after work they knew exactly which car was mine, and it's always kind of nice to feel special like that and be remembered (even if it were only for the crazy glare.) They lose points for only being open until 6pm on weeknights, which is pretty tough for someone like me who gets off work at 5. Otherwise they were really great! I get to go back in 6-8,000 miles (or two oil changes, apparently) which will probably not be for five years, but I'm sure that they'll take just as good care of me then. read more

I'd like to echo everyone's thoughts, not just for this location, but for Discount Tire in general. I've been to a couple of different ones and they have always been extremely nice and honest. I am constantly plagued with bad tire problems. I like to run over nails, get flats, dent rims, cause leaks, etc. My recent problem was worn tires and bent rims. I was able to get Discount Tire to match a price I found online for tires, and then they were able to search for rims for me. All in all, I saved over 600 dollars compared to what the dealers quoted me. They explained to me what was happening, which tires made sense, and made me super comfortable with the decisions I was making. I called and went in a couple of times, and they knew who I was all the time! The best part about discount tires is they fix holes in your tires for free! I pay them regular visits. read more

Went there for a tire rotation and everything went fine but I noticed someone worked over my extra change from my cup holder. So if you want to keep your quarters, dimes and nickels either hide them or don't go there. Not real happy w the thief. I will be calling the store to let the manager know. read more
