Badly needed an oil change so scheduled one this morning here. Pulled in and they grabbed my keys and got my vehicle started in a very timely manner. Sat in their warm large waiting area. Only two drawbacks-no sign for their guest wi-fi password and choice of channels on the tv. No big deal-I was in and out super quick. I did like that they gave me a list of suggested work on my vehicle with no pressure. Would recommend and will return read more

Christian and the other young men working at this location were fantastic! Amazing service,I really get like they cared about my experience and that my vehicle was truly taken care of. They found a few issues with a newly purchased used vehicle that the dealership had lied to me about and went above and beyond to help me. Took pictures,made proper notes and documented everything in a way that I was able to get the vehicle taken back at the dealership! If it wasent for Christian and the service technicians at this location I would be driving something unsafe with two small children in the car. This is the only shop I will be coming to from now on! We had a scheduled appointment (made days in advance) which we showed up for and was told it would be 45 minutes for an oil change and tire rotation. We decided to wait in the lobby and after an hour we noticed our vehicle was still sitting in the same spot. We asked and were told our vehicle hadn't even been touched yet and it was next. Decided to leave after wasting an hour of our time already. I understand they're understaffed but a courtesy check in to let us know they were running behind would have been nice, we could have walked home. We won't ever be back. read more

I handed the worker two $10 bills and four one dollar bills. I get tongue tied until the lady I need $14 on pump 14. I out loud as hearing me and I walk out the door to go pump, my gas as it's really super cold today, and I was in a rush to get out of the cold. I made a mistake telling her $14 when I really handed her $24. She only put $14 on the pump knowing dang well I handed her an extra 10 and she knew I was getting tongue tied telling her the total. I had to go back in letting her know, I handed her that extra 10. She was in the middle of helping a customer, but she kind of gave me a funny look and told me well then you're just gonna have to hang up the pump and redo it. She didn't argue that I didn't give her an extra 10 so she knew I gave her that extra 10 and she wasn't trying to give it back and she wasn't trying to put it on the pump. Watch out give an extra money to the cashier cause that one is not honest and she's hoping for tips when you are not paying attention. read more

I will always be a fan of the DT location, but this one will do if in the area. Almost every time I'm here, I'm greeted and thanked which is a tad rare in customer service these days, so I appreciate the consistency at this location and the DT location. The flour less cookie that I had to have looked good, but was taste less. Will pass on that next time. They look better behind the case then they actually taste. That's just my take. Don't trust them. Made that mistake and won't do it again. They will find a way to charge you extra.

I called Bobby & Steve's to verify before I arrived, that they would not charge me for doing an inspection of the driver's side mirror. The mirror itself wasn't broken. It just fell out one day, probably because it's a 10 year old SUV and the epoxy dried up (?). So, I had taped the mirror back inside the exterior mirror arm (I don't know the technical term for it). I was assured by their customer service desk agent Tess that no, they don't charge for inspections there; they only charge for the repair. So, once I arrived and went inside, I again confirmed with Tess, "Will I be charged for an inspection today of the driver's side mirror? I don't want it repaired. I just want an estimate." Tess reassured me that I would only have to wait one hour for the free inspection, and she verbally guaranteed me that her auto techs would not repair the driver's side mirror but just inspect it. I waited the hour. Then I went to the service desk. I asked Tess how the inspection went. She stared at me as though she had suffered amnesia for the past 60 minutes. "Um, our auto tech repaired your driver's side mirror." Then the manager Phil got involved. I explained to both Tess and Phil that I verified with Tess TWICE before I gave my car keys to Tess for the inspection, that I only wanted the free inspection, NOT the repair of the driver's side window. After some back-and-forth discussion with Phil the manager - I stood my ground that I am NOT paying for a repair that I didn't authorize!! - conceded that they made a mistake (um, obviously!!) and said that I didn't have to pay for the $124.00 repair of my driver's side mirror. Before you think "why is this reviewer mad...she got a free auto repair done." Just wait. There's more. The manager there Phil also said that the auto tech "heard a noise" and went to investigate it further. Well, I didn't ask for that now did I! Most places will not "investigate" without the car owner's permission first. This auto tech, somehow managed to cause more damage to my car and Bobby & Steve's Minneapolis auto repair WILL NOT acknowledge the further engine damage and surface damage done to my car. I walked out to find a 5 inch long metal scrape on the hatch of my SUV that wasn't there before. Somehow, it mysteriously happened while this auto tech at Bobby & Steve's Minneapolis was repairing my driver's side mirror (without my permission) AND investigating a mysterious noise (again, without my permission b/c I wasn't even called over their loud speaker to come downstairs to their service desk to give their auto tech permission to investigate this 'mysterious noise'). As soon as I got into my SUV to drive away, the engine light went on. I can only surmise that the auto tech at Bobby & Steve's must have intentionally messed up my SUV's engine somehow, to force me to bring it back there for more business for them to charge me for. Otherwise, I find it highly unlikely that the engine light going on at that moment was a mere coincidence. They are crooks here as far as I'm concerned. Don't waste your money or your time with these people. They don't listen, and they damage your car to get you to bring your car back for repeat business. Total Scheisters!! read more

I would highly advise not bringing your car here for service. We called ahead and spoke to the service tech, letting them know we needed a transmission flush and fill as the fluid in our newly purchased car was running low, and wanted to get this done asap to avoid any damage to the transmission. We dropped off the car, and an hour later we got a call saying they couldn't do it because it needed a special tool (which doesn't seem accurate after some research) and the fluid was very expensive (but they didn't ask if we were just willing to pay more) - even though we had given them the make and model of the car on the phone. We said ok, went to pick up the car, drove the car 30 feet, not even out of the parking lot, and realized it was making a clicking noise that it wasn't making when we dropped it off an hour earlier. We turned the car right around and went back inside - the tech said that he noticed the clicking when he did a test drive. The car was not clicking when we dropped it off, it needed a transmission flush and we told them the issue with it, so why a test drive? It seems that the tech test drove the car, tried to recreate the issue we explained to him by slamming on the brakes but with low transmission fluid, he ended up destroying the rear-differential in the vehicle. They said they'd have a master tech look at it the next day, who confirmed the rear differential issue but took no responsibility. We talked to the manager/owner on Monday who again, took no responsibility, told us they wouldn't work on the car and then forced us to leave. The car is no longer drivable so we had it towed to another shop where we got a quote for $5000 to fix the issue that didn't exist when we dropped the vehicle off. We have a video from our security camera that shows us heading to the shop to drop the car off (barely 1 mile from our home) and the car is not making any noise, which they wouldn't even look at. My husband and I both work in the service industry and my dad owned an auto-shop for almost 30 years. I know this is a tough business and these shops deal with a lot of flack from people. But we are not those people. We simply have a $5000 issue on our vehicle that didn't exist when we dropped our car off at Bobby & Steve's. The dishonesty is maddening and I'm so disappointed in the service and the lack of accountability from this company - I cannot imagine running my business like this. read more

Had my insurance, USAA, get me service from them for towing. Super great insurance company, not this company though. I waited 40min for my service to get to me. I was stuck on the middle of highway 35W. I asked them to bring a flat bed truck. I later received a call later saying they were on the way and I was asked if I was with the car. Considering I was on the highway and couldn't get off, of course I was. The person on the phone was not able to bring me to the shop with him due to covid19. Also, I'm on the middle of the highway. I told the guy I just need a ride off the highway. Don't care where just bring me off. He wouldn't do it. I got really upset considering I couldn't just climb the wall. He later said after I got upset "do you want me to help you or should I cancel the service?" I got even more pissed off but considering I didn't have a choice of course I told him to come. When he arrives it wasn't a flat bed. I had to tell him multiple times where to drop off the car. Also the truck he used he put the back wheels by my BRAND NEW WHEELS, which probably scratched them. This is why I wanted a flat bed. Overall experience is bad. I called for a service manager and got out on hold. After 20min of waiting on the phone for someone to pick up I later hung up. I called again to find no manager. This is one company that is very unhelpful and I would never recommend. If you have a choice of picking another company that is willing to help then please do. If I could have known about a lot of these I would never have used them. Forget them. Use someone who actually cares. Towing manager on 5/04/2020 was not good either. He is not good with customer service. I will not be going back. Figure out what you want to say before you start talking. I had an Uber appointment here. I think I'll cancel and go somewhere else after reading these horror story reviews. I may or may not receive good service here--but why take the chance? It seems that only 35% of the clients are neutral/happy with their service. Going here and expecting quality service would be like digging through the garbage for the offchance that there might be a few pieces of edible food. The only reason people go to places like this is because they have no other choice. The second option is to honor the appointment and come in mentally guarded; prepared for the worst; and ready for combat. Sorry. Horrible horrible horrible mechanic shop. They constantly find items that need to be replaced- today in my car it was cabin air quality filters (what?!) they showed them to me- didn't look that dirty- I asked them to just shake them out and the guy got snotty with me. When you do replacements through them it is SO overpriced- I have shopped around for prices on previous items and they are almost always double of anywhere else. They did my alignment once and I had to bring it back 3 times before it was correct- and I still don't think it's exactly how it should be. And every time I've had to go back for anything the wait is over 2 hours- even if I have an appointment. They don't honor appointment times. This place the worst- stay away unless you want to waste your time and money. The ONLY a reason I have continued to go here is because I bought this worthless coupon app that was supposed to save me money- it never did- I always paid way too much for oil changes and anything else they ever did. I called the company and talked to another representative and when I presented what happened she had said the tow truck drivers were not supposed to block the exit of the parking lot and not allowed to tow my car if I am in it and they have not yet attached the hook. Jeff told us our truck needed a new motor as hear gasket was blown, he said He would our purchase it from their Salvage comp in Roseville, Which would Also have a 3 year warranty. After He purchased it, claiming it wasn't the Right motor to his mechanics And store manager, Instead of finding the Right motor he insisted it be put in our truck. Now he's refusing to fix it as Of course it won't run correctly because he put in the wrong motor and has had it for 6 Months! He's saying he was told to put in the motor and will take No responsibility for any of it And has threatened to call in the loaner in stolen if not returned?., 6 Months and $8,000 and still no truck we have consulted with the Attorney generals office and now have to take him to court. He's an A hole and shitty business person. Be forewarned wish we had it's just been a nightmare and beyond to be taken when you're suppose to trust your not being taken advantage of when you know nothing about repairing cars and they claim to. I've been going through quite some drama getting my motorcycle roadworthy this spring. I paid a garage to do a carb job and things went south when I left the garage. So I decided to swap out the gas with some non-oxygenated gas used for smaller motors. I went to a local Mobil station and the told me to head to Bobby and Steve's Auto world. I drained the old gas and put the new gas in. No go. Took it back to the shop, and they called saying that there was 50% water in the gas! I came in, and they had a sample of my gasoline poured into a clear measuring cup, and you could see that indeed 50% of the gas was separated out. Not sure if it was water etc, but they had put in a gallon of new gas and I drove away. I don't know what happened to their gas. It may be old, cross contaminated or somebody just put water into their supply tanks... Just be careful. I'm going to try the gas station on 54th and Penn next. read more

Rude I've had no problems with oil changes other than the guy behind the counter. Walking in, he hid his e-cig vapor. not sure what he was smoking frankly. Horrible rapport and attitude. Scolded me for not presenting coupon early. Acted like I was putting him out after he asked if I wanted a printout. Incompetent Other occasion they couldn't fix my tire pressure sensor, overcharged me, wouldn't make it right. I had one that was out and needed to be replaced. They replaced it, but my light went back on after an hour. They said it was a different tire now, and wanted to replace that tire pressure monitor. How unlikely. They showed me their instrumentation. It made sense, but it seemed too coincidental, so I took the to the dealership. They said Bobby & Steve's process for reprogramming wasn't standard and prone to error. Dealership reprogrammed for free (and no problems since that, one year going). Intended to explain conclusion to Bobby & Steve's, but didn't want to go through the hassle and argument. read more

I've been going here for years for simple oil changes and windshield wiper replacements. Never had any issues...UNTIL my check engine light came on a couple weeks ago. I made an appointment, anticipated a huge bill ($800) and was surprised to find the amount wasn't as high ($540). I thought "Great!" and went on with my day. As soon as I got home, the check engine light came back on. So I called back, ended up driving back to the shop and they checked it again. Had to make another appointment for a specific technician. When I came back for my second appointment, I was treated like chopped liver and was told "we're super busy and we'd get it in as soon as we can." Umm, hello? I made an appointment on this day at this time because you TOLD me there was only one technician who could address the issue. But okay, sure. Sorry I'm inconveniencing you. Fast forward to the end of the appointment, the check engine is off, I pay for labor ($80) and drive home. About a mile from home, the check engine light came back on AGAIN. I immediately called the shop, told them it was back on and he admittedly sounded frustrated just like I was. He told me to bring it back in again and this time I made sure to ask that I wouldn't continue to be charged since they were not actually fixing the problem. He assured me I wouldn't be. I called the next day to set up a time to bring it in and I confirmed with that employee (different guy) that I wouldn't be charged, as he read the history in the system. I dropped my car off and they got to work on it right away the next morning. A couple hours go by and I get a call from the shop. This employee said that they "finally figured out the problem", "guaranteed this would work" and it would cost $600. I'm sorry, what?! I confirmed TWICE that I would not be charged going forward and he essentially said they couldn't do that. Very misleading. He mistakenly told me that the repair isn't even necessary for the safety of the car and that it would "assumedly" make the check engine light shut off. Needless to say I'm not doing the repair and am on the hunt for a new, honest mechanic. read more

I previously had interlock in my car. One of the times I brought it in for calibration, I got it back with almost every warning light on my dash on. I'm no mechanic and I though that when they take the interlock system out my lights would come off w it. When it didn't, and I told the a hole a desk, he said that it can't happen that way. The other guy said it's my fault. Basically they hold no accountability for mistakes. Not to mention, that place rips people off so bad. There's a lot of local small shop mechanics out there that would love your business. I had a battery issue 6 months, Bobby and Steve's put one in. Cost my 520 dollars!! A few years ago I went here for a simple full synthetic oil change. They charged me the normal fee for the oil change that was around $65 or something in that neighborhood which was fine but they also charged me an additional $100 for labor. So it was $165 for a 15 minute oil change. They weren't giving my car back until I paid though. I could keep going with other peoples I have talked to that have had terrible issues at this place. For example someone I know was told that there was an issue with the transfer case on their vehicle however their car didn't even have a transfer case. read more

Came here for an oil change and the technician forgot to put my oil cap on. I got a few miles away and could smell burning oil and my car was running very rough. I stopped at a gas station to check, and noticed the oil cap was off and oil was EVERYWHERE! I called Bob and Steve's and told them I could smell burning oil and my car was sputtering. They told me to drive back and they would look it over. When I arrived back they sprayed windshield washer fluid (flammable!) on my engine and put the oil cap back on. They told me that "some oil was spilled" and that they cleaned it up. I got back on the road and I had smoke coming out from under the hood! I came back immediately and they "cleaned" it off again and then sent me across the street for a free car wash. That helped a little but I continued to smell burning oil for a few days. I also had a puddle of oil in my garage. I thought maybe this was just a fluke and thought I would give them another try next oil change.... They told me that there was a huge oil leak and that they would need to charge me to degrease the engine to find the leak. I declined thinking it was just residual from their last mistake. They ALWAYS find $600-800 worth of repairs I need and then they become rude when I decline. It's never the same repairs needed either. I was also told that I needed new tires and I stated that I just wanted the cheaper ones which made the salesman mad and then he was rude with me. I'm currently here for an oil change again, and I brought up my concerns for an oil leak and the salesman was angry with me and crumpled up a piece of paper, took my keys and walked away telling me it would be an hour and a half wait. I feel so mistreated as a customer and will not be coming here for anything other than tire rotations for the tires I purchased. read more

I've waited a long time to do this update because I was so uncontrollably angry that I didn't want that to cloud my review. I'm a responsible reviewer. After my first oil change (see previous post), I went back for another approximately 3 months later. I waited for about an hour until my car was done and when I get the report back my intake gasket is leaking and my CV joint on my passenger side is "leaking", which means I need about $1000 of fixes of my car. I can't remember the other managers name, Brad?, he showed me where the intake was leaking, and I could see that. At the time, I didn't realize that that was the same part that I fixed a few years back, and when I told him that I got this thing fixed for about $600, he just ignored what I said and kept talking about this intake valve. He was taking advantage of my unknowingly stupid comment. I told him I wouldn't be able to get it fixed today, and when I left I called my mechanic friend. Mechanic friend said that was the same thing I needed fixed the last time, and not to worry about it until it actually starts leaking fluid on the ground, which would probably be awhile because it was only weeping right now. The CV joint he could fix for under $200, but I was quoted more than this at Bobby and Steve's. Fast forward to early December. I went for my free oil change and tire rotation from my discount card. I also asked them to check the CV joint because I didn't want that to go out in the middle of winter, but I knew that the intake was leaking and I'm not too concerned about that right now. I went early Friday morning (8 am) and was able to get in right away. I waited for an hour and a half, and at one point I started pacing because I saw that my car was done, but the door to let it out was shut and the dudes in there were on a ladder trying to hang something up. It looked like christmas lights. However, about 30 minutes before this happened, the same manager from before came out and said my intake was leaking and this is really bad because it could ruin my motor and I would need a new car. New quote was about $150 more from before; also, my CV joint looked fine, but now my tie rod needs to be fixed and when they fix that they need to align my tires, but also I have a transmission leak. Total bill = ~$1500, $1000 in labor. So my car is magic and fixed the CV joint on its own, but now magically I need another $500 in fixes? I wonder what he would've told me if I didn't tell him I knew the intake was leaking. By the time I left with a $0 bill mind you, I was seething. I called my mom to vent. I've got my moneys worth in my discount card now, and I will go back to Midas the next time I need anything done. I also asked my dad about the fixes that were needed (he has a best friend that is a mechanic), and he said the same thing other mechanic friend said - run the car until the intake leaks on the ground like the last time. He also asked if my car was making any jerking movements when I was turning - I said no, other than my stupid driving sometimes I over reach. He said when you have something like that wrong, you will know. Stay away from this place. They only want your money, and if you are clueless about cars like me (for the most part..except when I know I'm being butt-raped) they will take FULL advantage of you, even if all you ask for is a 20 minute oil change. read more

When my car conked-out and needed a tow, my insurance dispatched a Bobby and Steve's driver who offered to take my car back to their shop for a free estimate since my mechanic was closed for the weekend. Great, right? Not so fast... When the shop called me the next morning to give me some outrageously high estimate, I politely declined and told them I would be having my car towed out as soon as possible. They refused to release my car until I paid some $55 fee, which, according to the gentleman on the phone, was a diagnostic fee. When I mentioned that the tow driver said there would be a free estimate, the fee suddenly changed to an "overnight storage fee." At this point, after the manager failed to believe what the tow driver told me, I paid the fee just to get my car out of there. Upon inspection at my mechanic's, the employee diagnosing my car informed me the cover for my engine was missing. Now, I don't know a lot about cars, but I do know this is no small part to lose! Thus, I had to drive back up to Bobby and Steve's to retrieve the (large) piece of plastic and return it to my mechanic without a hint of apology from Bobby and Steve's. This, along with a subsequent experience of Bobby and Steve's "losing" my car, has resulted in me hiring my own tow driver instead of relying on my roadside assistance plan. read more

They also tried to tell me that I needed new brakes put on when I just had all new brakes put on less than 6 months ago. the guy who I dealt with was a complete a-hole and pretty much told me to deal with it. stay away. read more

Had a basic repair done to my car (passenger side window slipped off the track and wouldn't go up and down). When I jumped in my car after the repair, there was a bunch of trash all over the passenger side floor that was easily identifiable as not mine (receipts to fast food places I don't go, crumpled up "Legalize Marijuana Now" sticker, etc). One thing I found looked like a car part so I gathered the trash and brought it inside to make sure it wasn't something that had been needed for the repair. The staff guy was super cold and unfriendly. Didn't apologize and denied the trash was theirs/just shrugged it off. I will never come back here and will be sure to tell others to avoid as well. This is the worst place I've ever taken my car to. Horrible customer service. First they told me my quote was around $70-$100. Then they call a couple hours later and add another $100. Then they call a couple more hours later and say $300. Then when I say yes to all that price raising, I call them back the next day to see if they were done and they say they haven't even started yet because they needed my authorization to start. Even though I already gave them the go to start on my car at least 2-3 times the day before when they called me to tell me the price has doubled or tripled. These people are disrespectful, and don't care about anything but money. Last time I ever go here. It's been 3 days and my car still hasn't even been touched. In short: I won't take my car anywhere else. Customer service here is always great. As a girl, I get intimidated by mechanics easily but that has never been the case here. The guys here are friendly, honest, and easy to talk to. The service is comparable to the service you'd get at the dealership except not as expensive and in some ways better because they'll talk to you without demanding money for it. For example, at the dealership, were I to call and say "my car is making such and such noise from this general area, it doesn't seem to affect performance I'm just wondering what it is." (in girly non-mechanic speak), the dealership would say "ma'am we don't diagnose over the phone. you'll have to book a $99 diagnostic appointment for us to look at it. How's tomorrow look?". The answer at Bobby & Steve's is a bit more helpful: "well, its probably this or this, which is would be an $X-amount repair but we can't be certain until you bring it in. Might also be nothing. Doesn't sound urgent so just let us know at your next oil change and we'll take a quick peek while we're down there." One time, I had accidentally rubbed up against a hard-packed snow bank which bent a little piece of my fender inwards. If I had guy hands, I might have been able to pop it back out myself but it was cold outside and I'm just not that good. I was busy so I wound up taking it for an oil change somewhere else where the guy, without my prompting, offered to replace it for $200. I declined. Took it to Bobby and Steve's next oil change, and when I got my car back and the guy was like "Hey I noticed that funny dent, it looked weird so I popped it back out for ya. Here's your keys". It was good as new! Thanks dude! I'm a little OCD, and this one rainy week, my brakes were squealing like mad. It was driving me bonkers so I drove in and asked them how much for new rotors/pads." $450-500? Okay fine. Here's my card- please replace everything and return my sanity!". The guy was like "Well first lets do the $20 diagnostic. If they need changing, we wont charge ya the diagnostic." He comes back and tells me my brakes are still in good shape so I don't need anything replaced. I tell him, "I don't care, the noise is driving me nuts, just change them so that it stops". We went back and forth on this for a little bit until he made me realize it was stupid to pay for a service I didn't need (With me proclaiming the whole time; "but the noise!"). Yes, that's right, an honest mechanic who turned down a load of moolah on an easy job. So he finishes up my car, and tells me "There was some build-up on the pads and rotors that I cleaned off before I put everything back on. It should reduce the noise a little" A little? That car never made any noises again!! On a different occasion, I had a headlight out and had just picked up the bulb at Welle Auto Supply (down the street). I had put off installing it in though because its such a pain to have to get your in at the right angle. I usually do it myself though because at the most places, they'll charge you like 20 bucks to put in a $2 bulb. Right around this time, I took it into Bobby and Steve's for a oil change with the bulb still sitting in it's baggie on the passenger's seat. I never said anything to the guys but when I got my car back, it was installed on my car! I thought that sweet of them! The instance that convinced me that these guys were the uber n00b pwn sauce actually happened to my sister. She always takes her car to the dealer since its newer and they included x-amount of services with the car purchase. Except on this occasion, something had gone entirely wrong at the dealership because her car broke down the day after getting it back from the dealer for routine maintenance. Essentially the dealership guys screwed up and broke her engine by forgetting to put back the oil plug. Neither my sister or I "speak car". We're easy bait for greedy mechanics. On this occasion the guys at Bobby and Steve's came through. Instead of offering to fix it (and collecting a hefty fee), they called up the dealer told them they f***ed up, and got them to come pick up her car and fix it for free. The guys put in a few hour's worth of work for this and didn't ask for anything in return. How great is that? We wouldn't have never been able to communicate the problem to them otherwise! My sister wound up giving the guys a nice tip on the tow to make up for it all but really, it was never asked. Most places would still charge you the diagnostic fee. In essence, being a girl with a bulls-eye on her head for sleazy, greedy mechanics, I definitely appreciate the guys here at Jeff, Bobby and Steve's Auto-world. Always friendly, easy to talk to and more often than not, I wind up saving money by going here rather than anywhere else. read more

DO NOT USE THIS AUTO SHOP IF YOU HAVE IGNITION INTERLOCK!!!!! I was obligated to check in with this place on a monthly basis, due to a DWI conviction. I take full responsibility for my actions, and I have paid all of my judicial and informed consent requirements throughout this process. However, I can not begin to express how much I dreaded going to these mechanics month-to-month for recalibration and payment of ignition interlock fees. They do not allow appointments, yet EVERY time I would go there, they would act irritated, and say things like "Gee this is gonna be at least a two hour wait, ya sure you want to wait?". The hope of the associate revolves around me leaving, and there intention was to steer me out of there. Guess what? I cannot DRIVE unless the calibration and ignition interlock monthly payment happens! So whether I have to wait 20 minutes (which is really what it took once I put my foot down by stating that I had no choice but to wait) or 2 hours, it is a moot point, because without the payment/calibration I CAN'T DRIVE! They also, I might add, throw in a 20 dollar fee if you were to decide to get a recalibration on the weekends. I have already paid dearly for my mistakes! I have the opportunity to operate a vehicle, and I am thankful for that, but I really do not appreciate the condescending tone of the associates at this auto shop. Very unfriendly! Sometimes they don't even look up from their computer to acknowledge your presence. I was waiting to be helped one day, and one of the associates literally said "What do you need?" Excuse me? I'm a paying customer! It is just a horribly unprofessional thing to say, particularly when you are not even willing to look up from your computer while you say it!! There were several mishaps related to incorrect charges on my ignition interlock account, and I had to protest on several occasions. My protests were not taken seriously, and they often argued with me, until they realized that I was right. If you are participating in smart start ignition interlock program DO NOT GO HERE! There are several other locations who are much more respectful and professional than these clowns. If it wasn't for the proximity of this location to my job, I would have never, ever used this place for my calibration/payment center. I can not repeat this enough, DO NOT GO HERE FOR IGNITION INTERLOCK! It is not worth it, and it really makes the DWI consequences even worse. *On a side note, although I do not bring my own vehicle here for repairs, I often overheard the way they spoke down to customers (particularly women, the elderly and English as second language speakers), using scare tactics and an almost aggressive tone when customers displayed any type of hesitance to utilize their shop for repairs. As I waited, It took everything in me to NOT scream to these people, "Don't get the repairs, go somewhere else!" If I could rate this place with less than one star, I surely would. *Just wanted to update and acknowledge an associate did follow up with me after writing my review, and he asked if they can address my concerns. They did so in a very timely fashion and that is very appreciated. However, too little, too late. I won't be back here ever again, and I see no need to rehash it with them. They have read my criticisms, along with others, and I think it is pretty clear what needs to change there. I also want to acknowledge that Jeff's Bobby and Steve's report to charge 20 dollars on the weekend to encourage customers to use the shop during the week, and they state that the other Smart Start shops do the same. read more

Bend over and bring your own lube. Not kidding. I bought one of their discount cards for oil changes, which turns out to be a great deal for them, because then they just give you a huge list of all of the other things that they want to do to your car. Following up with another mechanic (Lowry Repair, usually), typically shows that you don't need the other $759 worth of stuff that they told you that you needed to have done, and that Lowry can do it for you more cheaply. These guys are fast-talking assholes out to take your money. They have zero ethics. I won't even buy my gas across the street anymore, I am so disgusted by them. Stay away. I had an bad experience with them multiple times and the last was overwhelming!! My girlfriend who doesn't no much about cars went for an oil change and your typically about 20-25 bucks these guys always try and take advantage of people that don't no what things mean if my girlfriend didn't call me she would of been Gypped out of 50-60 bucks because someone told her she need a full service oil change plus synthetic oil and filter I was so angry that people have to take advance of vulnerable people such as females or elders that is not smart when it deals with a motor vehicle read more

I just sent my nephew the money for his insurance deductible, after trying to to get a response from Bobby and Steve's for A MONTH. The story goes like this: On July 21, I was returning my nephew's car, which we had borrowed for our trip to MN. I thought it would be nice to leave it clean for him, right? Bobby and Steve's was practically right around the corner from our agreed on drop off location (he was still up at the lake, we were headed home--his sister's was a good spot to leave the car for a few days in between). I think there must have been a lag in the conveyer belt, because it seems like the last round of brushes came down with a CLANK on the back rear panel of the car--leaving a big scratch the vertical length of the driver's side rear quarter panel. The staff onsite were very nice and assured me the manager would "take care of it" when he came in tomorrow. Uh, no. All members of management at Bobby and Steve's--from the store manager to the CEO to the Operations Manager--have ignored my calls, letters and online pleas for a response. For a month. At this point, I think there's a note on the phone that says "do not forward calls from this lady". And I have been NICE, I assure you. Stuff happens. They have not been nice in return, and I don't think you should give them your business. I definitely won't. read more

I bought four tires from Bobby &Steve's about a month ago. At that time the tech told me that he had broken one of the locking my nuts. No problem, these things happen. Today I got a flat tire. When I opened the trunk to get the spare the locking lug wrench was gone. Thinking I was unable to change the tire I called Bobby & Steve's for a tow. They towed me to the shop. There the guy tells me that I don't have any locking lug nuts on my car. Apparently what had happened was that the tech had broken my lug wrench and replaced all my locking nuts without telling me (Jeff couldn't figure out why they had not charged me for taking them!) The nuts were part of a sport package that cost me $800. The guy told me he could get nuts cheaper than that. That's not how it works, dude. I can get tires cheaper somewhere else, too. Does that mean I get to pay you whatever I want? I told Jeff that I didn't want to pay for the tow. He told me that he could reduce it to a service charge ($60) but that's all he can do. Jeff, your name is on the front of the building. You can pay for the tow yourself. Don't lie. You might not want to pay for it yourself, but I don't care what you want. I'm not charging you for the lug nuts you stole, you can spring for a tow. Not coming back. I'm not even buying gas from this shady operation anymore. read more
