They are very dishonest to the point of pure corruption. Their "free" service to add air in your tires comes with a price. If your tire has a leak your tire will never be new enough to pass their thread wear test. The tech told me the tire was relatively new after his scan, which I knew because I bought it there a few months ago. I asked the tech to mark it as passed so he did. But when Patrick the sales guy came out to ok for a patch of course it was worn beyond the point to patch it. Told him the tech just scanned it so he went over to the tech and screamed at him for being honest. The place is run by Patrick and he is dishonest to the point of corruption. CHECK YOUR TIRE PRESSURE AFTERWARDS! (Watch for dangerously overinflated tires) Had my tires rotated and two of my tires were set to 40 psi while the other two were 30 psi. The maximum pressure is 35 psi on the tire walls and my door jamb specifies 29 psi all the way around. This place blows me away every time!! I have brought my car, my parents cars, and most recently my bosses car in! The location is super easy to find. They have a huge parking lot with plenty of spots always available, and the customer service is out of this world! They do tend to get busy so its always a good idea to call ahead (especially if your in a hurry) My favorite part of this location is that they have an air tire check that will check the air in your tires and fill them up absolutely free of charge! What this business does is criminal! Here is my rant. A few weeks ago I had my back 2 tires replaced. So when I had a flat, I was super annoyed. I jumped on the website on Saturday night and managed to find an available slot on Monday at 8.45a. How efficient was the booking process?!? No need to chat to a human and be placed on hold. On the morning of my appointment, I arrived at my schedule time of 8.45a. The young man at the counter greeted me and said it would be a 2-3 minute wait before they were ready for me. I sat down and within 2 minutes someone came and said they were ready for me. It really sucks that they can be so accurate with their time. I usually prefer to have no communication and be disappointed by over promising and under delivering businesses. So I drove my car up to the repair bay and the young man (he was very young!) was very knowledgeable. He said that if it's not repairable then they will have to replace it but they might not have the tire in stock. Then he just said "let us take a look first." I asked him how long? He said 30-40 minutes (yeah right! I've heard empty promises like that before). So I went for a walk thinking I would have to kill 1-2 hours of my life whilst waiting for my tire to be replaced. Then suddenly I received a text message saying "your vehicle is being worked on". I thought it was strange that they tell me what's happening in real time?! Feels like I'm ordering a Domino's pizza! And on the 34 minute mark, I get another text saying "your vehicle is ready". I thought to myself "Hhmmm I bet you they are going to give me the bad news to come back in 2 weeks or require me to pay $$$ to replace the tire". I walked back to the workshop and the young man said "all good we repaired the tire for you, it was a simple one". First I was shocked at how easy it was for me through this process. And then I ask him "how much will this cost me?" He said "it's free! Hope you have a great day". How could it be free and this easy??? How do other tire shops compete with this kind of service? How do they train these young kids to be so good at their job and be so professional? Discount Tire is putting other tire shops out of business and this must stop. read more

Do not come here. I have been coming here for couple years now. I am a single lady. I keep getting new tires all the time and today I decided to go inside and talk to someone why my tires keep getting wore off so fast. He told me nicely It is because my alignment is not right. I just got new tires 2 weeks ago...should he have told me that by then? Or are these people making sure my tires keep getting bad fast so every couple of months I have to go there and buy new tires. Not long ago someone from this shop texted me saying that he wanted to hang out he said he got my number from the system...excuse me? Now every thing is starting to make sense. I bought my tires 30k miles ago and brought it in due to a noise in the front end. I asked them to check the wheel bearings. They checked them and balanced and told me it wasn't the wheel bearings. After taking it to another mechanic, it was the wheel bearings. They don't test-drive, so I don't know how they can diagnose these problems without driving the vehicle but I guess they don't want the liability coverage for it. Bottom line- to misdiagnose a wheel bearing at a tire shop is pretty sub-standard work. read more

I went in a couple of weeks ago and had my tires rotated. My alignment was perfect however, when I left there, the steering wheel was going to the far left. I decided to get on the freeway to test my alignment, my steering wheel was shaking and I could not drive straight. I had to hold the wheel as it was going to the left. I went back to discount tire and they assured me that rotating your tires does not affect the alignment. I went to VW and they said it absolutely can happen. The employee of discount tires told me it just can't happen that it does not affect the alignment once again. I'm very very upset because the way my steering wheel is now which is still going to the left when it should be straight!! Steering wheel on all cars will go to the right when pressing on the break for safety reasons. I'm very very disappointed and now I have to spend quite a bit of money getting an alignment on my car. I had an extremely pleasant experience at Discount Tire in Encinitas. I walked in on a whim after another appointment next door to them. RICH was the sales associate that helped me - and my praise, if I could, would be BEYOND five stars. I am a woman, and y'all know how it can be for a single woman getting car work done - a lot of people try to upsell me, and it's sometimes hard to tell what's real and what's a sales tactic. I didn't get any of that here. I had a blow out on the freeway and as a result had a spare on my car. I knew I needed all of my tires replaced, which is what I was looking for. Rich was straight and to the point, explained everything patiently and thoroughly, was transparent about all the charges, and the best part? He got me in the same day, I got all 4 tires changed, and my car was back to me by the end of the day. Also, the price for 4 good tires was really really reasonable. I used to be an Evans Tire customer but found them too be too shady (a lot of unnecessary upselling). What I love about Discount Tire is that they don't do anything but tires, so there's no possibility of them trying to tell me I need new brakes, etc. Because of Rich's epic customer service, I am now a repeat customer. My family and I have been coming to this Discount Tire location for years. We have always gone to them for new tires, new wheels, rotations, balances, etc. We've always found there work to be better quality and a lot more fairly priced than any of the dealerships. Today I woke up to a flat tire and threw on the spare and headed to Discount. They have set up a Covid protocol that allows you to give your cell number at the front door, and wait at your car and view the waitlist online to have an idea of how long it will be until someone comes out to help you. I was only waiting about two minutes when Osmar came out to help. He immediately noticed the screw in my flat tire and got me set up to have it repaired. He was incredibly nice and made the process easy and efficient for me because I was running late to work. I left my car there with them and headed to work in a friends car. The moment my car was finished and the tire was back on and balanced they sent me a text to let me know it was ready. Looking at the times from when I dropped my car off to the time that it was ready it took them exactly 1 hour to get my car in and out. I was incredibly impressed at the turn around time. And on top of that, I walked in without an appointment and found out that the repair was completely free. I came by just before they closed and picked up my car from Jonathan, who was also incredibly helpful and answered a few of my questions about the repair. I returned to my car to find the spare tire reinstalled in its proper place, with all of the tools, cover, and rug reinstalled neatly. The choice to bring in customers with free repair services is incredibly smart, but what really shines through is the excellent customer service and quality workmanship. Pricing for a trailer tire no wayyyy I highly don't recommend very rude people no professional or nice

I brought my flat into Discount thinking it was completely unsalvageable, having a large nail and several sharp metal pieces lodged all throughout. I believed to have run over a pile of "trash" in an auto shop district. I called Discount and spoke with Matt who provided excellent service from start to finish. The customer service and friendly help began in the lobby. Each attendant made sure to make every customer there feel like they were welcomed and assured that we would all be taken care of in a timely manner. I left my tire there while they fit in my "walk-in" appointment amidst the 19 cars they were already servicing. I had dropped it off around 2:30 pm and received a phone call no more than two hours later telling me it was repaired and ready!! I opted to come back the next day to have it bolted on as I was busy when they called. I drove over the next day, spoke with Matt (great continuity of care btw) and he said it'd be about 30-40 minutes. I asked if I should go ahead and pay now or later and he replied happily, "It's free". Within 25 minutes, my car was ready. I cannot begin to tell you how stoked I was with their overall service and friendliness. I haven't purchased tires from this location but I absolutely will be in the future! read more

UPDATED REVIEW ON 9/16/22 I got my new Pirelli tires from Discount Tire in Encinitas, and I am very satisfied. Greg at the front desk was very gracious. I had done a fair amount of research on which tires to get based on quality and pricing. Discount Tire was able to get the tires I wanted in short order, and also offer a reasonable price. I also research possible discounts, and when I inquired about them, they were honored - thank you Greg. The workers did a good job on the installation (I've been driving with the new tires for a week now with no problems). They gave me a time to show up, said it would take an hour, and sure enough, that's how it worked out, despite them being very busy and even getting a number of walk-ins while I was waiting. They were also kind enough to put my spare tire back in its original compartment in the trunk without me asking. Discount Tire seems to be a very professionally run shop with people who are competent, efficient, and helpful, and who go out of their way to be nice. I got a screw in my tire, I scheduled an appt with Discount Tire after many friends recommended them, and in about 45 minutes they had my tire fixed! It was the easiest, most painless process. So, when my bros pointed out before surfing the other week that the two front tires on my VW were bald and showing wire, I remembered this DT location because it's strategically located in the same shopping complex as Trader Joes and Duck Donuts! So I went online, set up an appointment for this location, looked in advance at my tire options and what, if any, promotions they were having, and headed on down a few days later. If it's not urgent, then APPOINTMENTS rule here!!! I parked in a space outside, walked in, saw that there were over a half dozen people waiting in the "walk-in" customer line to the right, but no one in the appointment line located on the left. The guy who helped me, I believe his name was Jonathan, was super friendly, helpful, and knew his tire stuff. He was patient while I made a few phone calls with other tire places to check the prices he was quoting me and seriously found that this place had the best deal! He quoted me a time frame of 45-60 minutes which was essential since I had my surfboard in the car and there was a SSW swell picking up. I walked over to Ralph's to buy an energy drink, then headed over to Duck Donuts for my sweetness rush. 25 minutes later, as I was walking around, loading up on caffeine and sugar, I get a text message telling me that my car was ready! They rotate your tires for free (where others charge $40+) as goodwill in hopes that you will buy tires from them one day (no requirements....who does that these days?). I am so glad this business has a location in Encinitas. Today I was waited upon by Greg. I explained that my back right tire seemed to have a slow leak. Greg looked at the problem, and said he didn't think a new tire would be necessary. As if that wasn't enough good news, he said that they could probably do the fix at no charge.
