I came in for a tire rotation and balance but was told I needed new tires. My current tires only have 18k miles, which isn't brand new, but in my opinion they did not need replacement. I requested the service I had scheduled, but then was told they didn't want to perform it because "it wouldn't make a difference." Having previously worked at a tire shop, I know when tires actually need to be replaced. I've been a customer here for years, and mostly satisfied. They're usually really fast, honor their appointments, and clean. But this last visit managed to change my opinion, all at once. I scheduled a tire rotation for a sedan online for Sat a.m. Showed up, it was raining heavy, got checked in. Young man who went out and checked in the vehicle while I was inside came back in and started my day with a bang: "Um, you know your car's tires are staggered, right? {Different front and rear tire sizes} ...there's not much lifetime difference if you rotate side to side. Studies have shown...(blah blah)" So first of all, do you have any bloody clue how PATRONIZING that is? I've had my vehicle for 64K miles - you already looked at the mileage. I've bought both pairs of replacement tires for the vehicle from this store - you can see THAT if you bother to look at the account. But no, you need to try and both belittle and weasel out of the free labor? Tire LIFE is not the only reason to get rotation - it's also an opportunity to check the evenness of the wear pattern for alignment, etc. If you'd said "these are wearing evenly, I don't see anything to be concerned about, is there anything you've observed like feeling out of balance, or is this just a preventative rotation?" then tried to gently suggest I didn't need it, that's entirely different. That's helpful. But nope, straight to "driver stuupid, I don't wanna!" As I said, it was raining, so I didn't open my trunk and get my tire locks out for him, figured they could do that when not out in the rain. I DID make sure to tell him they were in the trunk, tucked up in one of the little net side compartments rear of the wheel wells in original packaging - can't miss em if you look. (Admittedly, I thought I remembered them on the right, they were on the left.) Did he pass that on to the actual service crew?? OF COURSE NOT. A few minutes after they drove it in, one of the techs came to ask me where they were because they couldn't find them. [They'd been blowing up my WIFE's cellphone - even though I made the appointment under my name with my phone number - another minor annoyance that they can't seem to handle two people on the same contact, but that's just par for the course these days with stupid point-of-sale systems.] Anyway, this is one of the techs who's been here a while and is actually pretty good, and was very friendly when he said they didn't know where the lug nut key was. So I told him what his front desk advisor obviously didn't, and got to watch thru the window while the other tech who was in the trunk looking started just PUSHING DOWN on the trunk to close it after giving up, before we got back to him. Now, this is a fairly nice sedan with bells and whistles like a motorized trunk. You release it and it opens with actuators, it has a VERY OBVIOUS BUTTON to close it on the lip of the open trunk, and uses actuators to pull it down when you hit the close button, and then latches. Similar to the vast majority of SUV tailgates. You can HEAR the motors complaining and feel them resisting, if you try to just push it down. Forcing an energized motor that wants to be locked is bad. There's no way to mistake it and keep doing it all the way down. You have to want to be that much of a nincompoop. So I go out there with them after they reopen it and are starting to unzip things like a first aid kit and tear thru a box for a plug-in compressor, things like that one keeps in a trunk that don't look anything like a locking lug nut package, and find it for them. Yes, admittedly on the wrong side. But right up in the small netted-away pocket exactly like I said... So, eventually get out and on my way pretty quick after that, rolling my eyes and wondering how bad they torqued up the hood closure. And guess what? Today (the very next day) after a grocery trip, the trunk will motor itself closed but then reject and open again...over and over. After several tries including turning off ignition and starting again, and even unhooking the battery for a few minutes to reset the car's electronics.... I finally got it to stay down - but it is failing to recognize it's closed all the way and throw the locking latch - so I get to drive home with it beeping at me that my trunk is ajar, and make an appointment at the dealership to fix what they broke. (Think they'd admit it if I gave them the chance, even though I went out and rather seriously told them "there's a button RIGHT THERE, please don't do that to people's cars"?) Yeah. I'm not even bothering.... It's too bad. The one tech who's been there a long time is polite, thorough, friendly, efficient. The entire front desk staff however seems nearly brand new, and of course his partner that day is not on my Xmas card list. Not going back unless I have no other choice or need to take advantage of my tire puncture warranty (but if I need NEW tires because one can't be fixed, nope. This store lost my biz...) read more

I stopped into this tire shop today at a little afternoon with a fairly unique issue. I was fortunate enough to have Christian (who told me this was his first day) assist me. I described what I needed and he said I could be looking at a $125 fix. He came out and looked at two flat tires in my trunk that had been damaged when my son went through a nearby car wash (as much his fault as theirs). Before we made it back into the store, he stopped and said he was going to try and rebuild the damaged valve stems, in lieu of replacing them. The bottom line is, he rebuilt the valve stems and sent me on my way with two repaired tires for $0. This kind of stuff just doesn't happen anymore. Thank you Christian and thank you discount tires. Got my two rear tires replaced with an appointment, as soon as I pulled up employee came out and greeted me and got me checked in and as process was about to begin I was introduced to Landon who was amazing at letting me know what all is being done with my car and keeping me updated along the way and answering all the questions I had. Let preface this by telling you there's a wait, through the observation glass you can see the hustle they have going, I'm pretty certain it's far beyond my capabilities to keep up. They're fun to watch. If sitting and watching isn't your thing, for an extremely short walk you can be at a Buffalo Wild Wings, Sam's Club, Schlotzky's, Kroeger, etc.. I was pleasantly surprised by their willingness to price match to Sam's Club tire price, they mounted, balanced, and installed my tires for the now working toward my 14th year. I don't know if everyone else knows this but they'll even special order tires they don't normally carry if you ask. I've had to do this more than twice over the years. During my last trip Collin was extremely helpful and very patient. I miss David who transferred to the Lemmon Ave store but Collin is a great follow through. I had an appointment and was just uttering the words after entering the store when I was told I needed to get on the Wait list. When I said I had an appointment, I was asked "Are you with that guy?" The customer who was right Outside the door scanning the QR code was assumed to be with me. Apparently, him being the same race puts us together *eyeroll* The spare tire was put back under the covered area but tools were left on top. It all fits under the cover. I've never had things left loose in the trunk before this visit. Also, I usually never see the specialty valve stem covers I come in with so I asked that they make sure to keep the one on the tire being replaced. Tip: Just go ahead and leave either the one from the old tire or the new stem cover in the car. Don't act like there's not an extra one that comes back to the customer. read more

As I told Raul the other day, "I don't know why people would go anywhere else for their tires". Woke up with a flat and was not happy about it. Took my tire in and was told that because it was under warantee, that I would get a free fix or a free replacement. They were busy and was told that it would take about an hour. No problem for me as had my car. Left and came back a coupkle of hours later and they replaced my tire. Spent $15.50 for the warantee and off I went. I have bought 3 sets of tires here over the years and any problem, they take care of you. read more

The guys at Discount Tire are always very helpful except for the fact that they always try and push an unnecessary cost to you by talking you into buying this TPMS Rebuild Kit. I have owned my car for 7 years and never had to have that replaced. So what out for that cost and say NO to the TPMS Rebuild Kit. They will also try and scare you into getting it by saying it will leak if you don't replace it. BS!!! read more

Honestly, I can't complain. Any time you have a service done to your car, it's going to take some time, you're going to have to wait. With that in mind, the people that work here are great. I've had to come in twice within a month, and each time I've visited Gilbert has helped me and greeted me with a smile and handshake, despite how busy he's been. While waiting, I noticed the other staff members have greeted customers in a friendly and timely manner also. This is the best place to get tires! Purchased a new set and after installation realized my truck required a heavy duty, more expensive, set because the tpms would not reset with the lower air pressure in the light duty tires. Really impressed with the creative response to COVID-19 pandemic. I was really worried about having my tire repaired during the pandemic. I really did not want anyone in my car. My tire was nearly flat and a screw in my tire. Called for appointment. They told me when I arrived to flash headlights. Some one was right out wearing a mask and kept his distance.
