Homer Glen Discount tires has always given professional, non high pressure sales until today. I came in with a tire that was losing air. After about 15 minutes of lou telling me my tire is dry rotted and old (1 year and 8 months old), informing me that my tread is worn ( still in the green rating area) that I should get new tires. He did accept my response to no. But still mentioned the dry rot multiple times more. I said check the tire for the reason for the leak. Finally the results were in . It was a nail not dry rot. Lou mumbled to me when I asked the cause, he said screw. Roberto the technician who worked on my car was very polite, greeted with a smile and told me it was a nail and the tire was sealed and patched and air checked. Praises for Roberto. Unfortunately 2 lugs wouldn't come out, they fought the others with 5/8 impact and 4 ft cheater bar. I had just picked up my son and was dropping him off at practice when I had the light come on saying I needed to fill my back tire. I went to a gas station cause the pressure was going down fast and filled it as much as I could before dropping him off at a practice. I went to discount tire and the lobby was full of people so I didn't have faith I could get helped any time soon. But it was leaking dangerously fast and I had to pick my son up now 15 minutes later and couldn't have him wait alone after his practice. They didn't recommend me doing that because they might have not been able to fix the tire and it would need a replacement if I had driven too much on the rim. But I couldn't just leave him after practice alone and I took a chance. They filled the tire so I could get him and said they'd see what they could do when I got back. When I got back it seemed to still be in decent shape so they said they could attempt to fix it. I went next door to Chili's for dinner while I waited, they stayed to fix it even after closing. I was shocked when they said it was free! I can't recommend the service and friendliness enough and will be back when I need new tires! I even asked how much the tire replacement would have been and it was a great price as I was expecting $200 more for 21 inch. #04-2021 having bought by last set of tires in 2011 at discount tire here in Homer Glen Illinois almost 9 years later although they lasted cuz the cars not driven that much as I'm a Long haul truck driver. I had great luck with the Goodyear Wrangler radials unfortunately at the time I bought them they said within a couple of years they're going to be discontinued and sure enough Goodyear did discontinue the Wrangler radials. I've been stopping at this location a lot when I leave out just to get the air pressure checked in the car because discount tire does offer even if you don't buy their tires there you can get your air checked at any time just drive in. so the old three Durango needed some new tires I decided I'm not going to be keeping this much longer maybe half a year or a year but even though there wasn't much dry rod on the tires after 9 years and the tread was fantastic the age was starting to concern me. traveling back and forth on the expressway 75 to 80 mile an hour sometimes LOL the sidewall strength definitely could become an issue they mentioned and I might want to think about getting some at the last time I had the air checked. so I came in checking them out I saw the best of the line was Michelin I wanted something that's going to be compatible with the Goodyear Wrangler radios I don't want tire howl which is what all-terrain tires do I don't want it howling going down the road I want it quiet like a car which is why I was very impressed with the old Goodyear Wrangler radials. till after looking at a few different ones I decided I don't really need quality but I don't want crap either I decided on a Cooper tire which they recommended was pretty good midline good for winter and all around fairly decent I like the way it looked it had the outline white letters and Coopers are pretty good brand. the person I was working with was very professional helped me out quite a bit and I left with a quote that I was satisfied with installation and all. so they didn't have them in stock but they ordered them for me and said they'll be in in a couple of days I said day after Christmas the 26th I'll come back. I got a text to file a day saying the tires were in but it was really cold out and I didn't feel like going down so I come in there on that Saturday morning. I showed up on Saturday morning for my appointment and I decided to see if I qualified for the credit and I did so I didn't have to basically put anything down financedvl them through synchrony Bank. 6 months no interest if paid in full and a decent price $749 out the door installed everything taxes and all. and they're a decent location. I enjoyed working with them they treated me really well and professional this is a really good discount tire location. fact was another gentleman who came down from another area where he has one close by but was not too pleased with them so he decided to come to this facility to the Homer Glen location does a really good job and a very quick time frame. Well, this $1000.00 dollar tire replacement left me with not only way over torqued lug bolts at about 150 lbs??? they destroyed 3 out of four in plastic wheel center caps by smashing them out to change tires, then giving me the the broken pieces . they didn't remove the wire keepers just knocked then out. Cost: to replace them over $100.00 They just lost a customer/s. very poor quality work practices. I called them but they made excuses and would not honor a paying customer for the damage and additional cost to repair my car/ wheels oh,and no manager available either!!! read more

They earned my business again with my new set of BF Goodrich radials for my first gen Camaro. Ordered them and received and installed them the next day. Manager Matt oversaw the installation process which went smoothly. Another area retailer lost a sale and could only repeatedly state he wasn't making any money on this order and there's nothing he could do to offer any discounts. Explained that I wanted to replace 2 tires on my truck due to a broken belt and they immediately went into sales mode trying to convince me that I needed all 4 tires. Tires have 30,000 miles on them. I brought in my E250 cargo van for new tires. I dropped off the vehicle and went to breakfast. They called me and said it was ready. I get there and the brake pedal goes to the floor. Their is a huge puddle that starts at the drivers side front tire and goes to the back of the van. There is a brake fluid trail to that parking spot from the garage area. Juan says this happens sometimes when they lift vehicles. No mention of this until after everything was paid and I get into the van. It's a good thing I was smart enough not to drive away without brakes. Very irresponsible on their part. They tow it at their expense to their repair guy and file a claim. 6 days later I still do not have our work van and nothing has been done to fix it. This was a mistake on their part but they are not taking responsibility for it except to tow it away and file a claim. Brake lines were replaced a couple years back so they are not rusted. The tires look good but are worthless without the brakes. Also check out their parking lot. You will find the lot cluttered with the weights they put on your wheels to balance them. Lost confidence after Doing business with Discount tired for over 15 years. I understand the salesman ship. Went in for leaky tires they installed lied about rims being corroded... still dirty I don't think they cleaned them. why did it not get brought up when replace them. Upon inspection the rims were not cleaned properly before installing new tire nor where the wheels balance. Gets better.... One of the tires Rick (service) claimed it was run flat....BS they put rubber shaving in tire to make it appear as run flat. Note I know what run flat tires look like being a Mechanic. DISCOUNT TIRE in Homer Glen - Quite a DISAPPOINTMENT - "I had a slow leak in one of my tires, and was told it could NOT be fixed. I specifically stated I wanted the SAME "run-flat" that was on my car now ... The service rep "J---", had a attitude and acted as though he didn't want to be there. He told me MY tire were discontinued, and the tire they have, is the replacement, (LIE). After someone had to find it for him, he brought it out and it looked altogether different. The "so-called" replacement was, in fact, NOT a replacement tire, but just what was in stock. The, so called replacement tire, was NOT a "run-flat". He also said (get this) he had 4 of them in stock, if I wanted to have them match! The TRUTH is my tires were proprietary to the auto dealer only, and could NOT be purchased at any tire store. (I found this out later, when I called a COMPETENT competitor, "BELLE TIRE" ... I was so disgusted with how I was treated, and LIED to, I decided to go Belle Tire and purchase, 4 Perilli "run-flat" all season tires for $1000+ ... (Sure, I could have bought these tires at Discount Tire, but why would I want to, and according to THEIR website were $400 MORE to boot!) ... CONCLUSION: IF I believed the LIES this service rep, "J---" told me and NOT looked at the tire, I would have paid for a tire, or tires I DIDN'T really want, and were not what I asked for. I scheduled an appointment to have my tires rotated and balanced at the Discount tire in Homer Glen ,IL. The person at the desk went outside and looked at my tires. He said that my tires are 6/32 on all four. He said there was no need to rotate them. He said I will need new tires soon. So he did not rotate my tires and wanted me to buy new tires. At 6/32 left how much more mileage will I get ? Seems that is still about 45% to 50% thread left. I thought that I paid for life time balance and rotate ............ I have been a customer of this location for over 20 years. Is this how they treat loyal customers? Looks like my next purchase will not be Discount Tire. They SUCK. I didn't get my vehicle serviced here but I am writing a review because the front desk worker or whatever you want to call them tried to sell me the most expensive tire/high quality tire immediately. Don't get your hopes up if you come in for a flat tire repair service done. The guy in front of had newer tires and they told him he needed a new tire. He was older and definitely was upset....The same with me. I just wanted patch work done but said nope you need a new tires...so I asked for a quote for 2 new front tires only... he told me it would be $461... didn't even try to sell me on a lesser quality of tire or not even recommend different brand so I just walked out. This is an update to my last review in 2013. I am very unhappy about my visit on 12/31/14 to get a scheduled 6K mile tire rotation at the Homer a Glen store. This store is where I have done business for the last 15 years or so and they let me down completely today. While the staff is always friendly, when I left the shop today, there was an awful thumping I could feel and hear from the front end of my vehicle. I ended up later the same day taking the car to the store in Matteson, IL and the tech allowed me to see that my tires were totally out of balance and that I had a wheel that was slightly bent, in fact the two front wheels were bent. The Homer Glen store did not advise me of any of that, but they gladly took my $20 tip. My wife said they finished the work too quickly to have done a good job. She was correct. Another issue is that the Homer Glen store did not put a rotation service reminder sticker on the front windshield. When I asked about it, the response was "we don't do that any longer". Now they just send email. What if I don't get or read email? What if I don't have an email address? What does it cost to put a service reminder sticker on the windshield? It's what people are used to. BTW: they do have stickers at the Matteson store. Maybe I'm making a big deal about this, but sometimes it's the little things that cause a customer to do business elsewhere. It is for me, and the many family members and friends I've referred here in the past. In my humble opinion things have changed too much in the wrong direction. And to think that I used to go out of my way to visit this store. No longer. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've been a tire customer since about 2003. The Homer Glen store has been my favorite although I'm closer to the Orland Park store. I've been pleased with service overall. A few years back I bought a house brand tire (Arizonian). Worst tire purchase ever, but they happily exchanged them. The last set I bought was for my 2008 VW Passat. The Yokohama YK580 was made expressly for Discount Tire. While some folk may not feel comfortable about house brands, this is my 2nd set and I'm very pleased with them. In fact, I've recommended them to others. They have a 60,000 mile warranty and I've had mine for 2 years and they barely show any wear. For an aggressive driver like me that's great. Of course you should rotate them on a regular basis, as with all tires, for even wear. I try to have it done when I get my regular oil change. Fewer things for me to remember to do and I just make it a vehicle service day. I always get the add-on certificates to avoid road hazard hassles from the manufacturer's warranty. I'm not knocking places like Sears or Costco or SAMs club for tires, but I find their selection to be limited and prices not as competitive and not as many store locations if I need quick service. And I guess it's a lifestyle preference. Besides, the folks at Discount Tire seem to be super friendly and love what they do and seem to really appreciate your business. I like that. read more

When I got to the shop in Homer Glen, the installation cost per tire almost doubled because I didn't purchase the tires from Discount. If knew that up front I would have never gone there! read more

It's amazing how many people they have but it's so inefficient. Watched 5 people run around as if ONE thing was critical to all their presence while a line forms in the lobby and John doesn't even acknowledge ANYONE in the room. Not so sure there is much value when customer service lags. Don't get me wrong, there are some positive customer Svc examples there, but the herd mentality takes over really quick when they all feel ignoring customers is acceptable. We've been going to Discount tire for our vehicles for years and have always had good service. Today was Saturday and 3:45pm and they didn't appear all that busy with guys waiting in empty bays but they said you need to have an appointment now. Hadn't run into this before. They were polite and offered an appointment for Monday but needed the car for daughter to go back to school. One of the guys directed us to Firestone across the street which I thought was extremely thoughtful. Went to Firestone across the street and told em about the referral and Ron and Stamp worked with us to get a good price. Great to see the cooperation and everything worked out well. 5 stars to Discount for the referral and 5 stars to Firestone for great service and price. read more

What more can I say? This place is great! Even with two competitors across the street, these guys beat them easily. I have had free repairs done where I wasn't even charged a penny. Every purchase made there was handled by a top notch group of guys. I even saw a customer try to bribe his way ahead of others, and was simply shot down. Communication in this store is ridiculous. Been a loyal client for almost 10 years. Every time make an appointment and they either don't have it marked down or arrive and find out tire didn't come in via UPS. Always something. Last straw was today, I had my son bring car in for 9:30 appointment. Sorry nothing marked down on the schedule. After talking to the "acting manager", being told we had to wait, I hung up in frustration. This "acting manager" told my son twice that his dad (me) was an A##hole. Shame on me. Free tire rotation. How can you NOT love that? I've been dealing with Discount Tire for some time now and generally have had a very pleasant experience. Their prices are some of the best around when buying a new set of tires and their service has been quick and professional. My truck is fifteen years old and so I've changed them out about four times now and have never regretted choosing them at all. The one and only discrepancy I've experienced was a newly purchased tire that was gradually losing pressure and when I'd brought it in for them to check it out, they said it was because my rims were rusted and therefor, unable to give a good seal against the rubber. Even though there's a sign right in their waiting area stating they'll grind down any rust on rims prior to installing your new tires, I let it go since I was thinking about purchasing new rims anyhow. I've never heard of anyone beating Discount's prices and so, I'm happy with my decision to use them exclusively. If you know of a less expensive company, though, let me know, will ya? read more

I was surprised when Mike told me my tires and wheels were bent and the fee was way more than I was expecting to pay. Mike there was so useful and really helped me get the best deal I could. Brought in tires I had purchased through their web store, Discount Tire Direct. From the start, the employee gave me a hard time saying the tire I purchased might not work on my car and I "overpaid." Then he says they'll be charging me extra ($35/tire) to mount and balance because I brought in my own tires and Discount Tire Direct is not affiliated with the Discount Tire brick & mortar stores, when the site states it's $16 per tire (plus disposal fees) at any location! --I had also confirmed this by calling customer care prior to my purchase and definitely have the correct tire size-- The guy then said they changed their policy. I told him to give me back my car keys, but he ignored me. After the fourth time of telling him to forget it and asking for my keys, he finally gave them back to me. When I got home, I called corporate and was told the employee in Homer Glen was misinformed and "must be new." The agent on the phone then called the store and opened a case with the district manager to look into this. If you're buying tires online, I'd recommend going up the road to Cooper Services in Orland instead. They have a Hunter Road Force machine and will mount and balance your tires for less ($25/tire) without the hassle. EDIT: Upgraded my review since the original employee called back to apologize and rectify the situation.
