Made an appointment online which was later confirmed over email. When I showed up, I was told that whenever I make an appointment I also need to call since they're not on the same system. I have a 1980 automobile that broke down near this Firestone while driving it so I had it towed there. I worked with Eddie and he was a great to work with the entire time! Unfortunately, do the age of my car, they were unable to fix the problem my car had so I had to have it towed elsewhere. Thankfully, Eddie did not charge me for anything and actually let my car stay there a few days before it was able to be towed and I respected that. 4/5 stars due to they could not fix my car but were very professional in how they handled everything and they will have my business in the future! read more

I stand with those reviewers because of the experiences I am having and have connected to in this year. Scam or not, they still did a disservice to me and many others that reviewed their experiences at this location. It's a stretch to jump straight to offer their service/repair work after such incidents in their care. I get it's super common across all Firestones, and autocare businesses like so to upsell and hoax you back to their business (like a scam), however .... at least what I experienced at this location......it's an immense stretch to offer to repair my pickup and not contact the consumer right away when something like brake lines bust instantly right when they reverse the vehicle to take it off the lot, and into their garage. (They left a voicemail 6:04, email receipt at 3:34, I was waiting on a call around 5:30PM as they promised it'd be done by). The way they handled my situation seemed to represent little to no respect on me and my vehicle. If you're looking for good autocare, this Firestone Homer Glen, possibly any Firestone isn't it. They seriously need a 'complimentary inspection' to get their expertise/professionalism checked on here, and possibly a deeper check if this really is a trend I see across reviews of many Firestones... 3 of the cars I've serviced here had major issues right after visits to this Homer Glen location. Just brought in for oil changes and wheel alignments.....my cars see personal mechanics for fixes. I legit get my cars checked on and serviced right before Firestone and the moment they get to the vehicles I take here, they "discover" new issues......... issues that completely destroy the vehicle................) ?'s running through my mind throughout the experience: Why would I have also been charged the oil change last night on my email receipt when they say they couldn't get the pickup in since it busted on them when they tried reversing it? Why did I come in today, and that charge was reversed and refunded to my account by the store manager just now? Why did they run the receipt on this incident today, and not last night when I came back for the pickup? Why, when I asked if the pickup could possibly drive back down the road to my house, I was told "Well, you could try!" DO NOT TRUST. Currently today, I have to get my pickup towed and figure out how ALL the brake lines SO BAD the moment they stepped in the vehicle to see "try it out!" as the worker said I should try when I simply asked if it would possibly drive down the road to my house to better understand how bad the brake line bust was before I saw it. I as well as my boyfriend drove the car just fine before and would have noticed the brake pad was lose. I think our mechanic have noticed/said about that too, so we are in contact as I gather my receipts/evidence. When I arrived for my car yesterday (6/21) evening, I got confused because that pickup just saw my mechanic too this month. My mechanic would have mentioned the pickup was nearing these issues, so I'm calling BS. The pickup drove that day to their lot, so if they say this incident occurred the moment they tried reversing the pickup, I need to see more than they are telling me to believe. It appears unlikely because every car I service, gets checked on frequently. I have all my receipts, and LEGIT, when I need the oil change/wheel alignment, all 3 vehicles that I've brought here, have issues outside of any common to their history. "Believe me, this is a common issue we see with cars like yours." Beware!!! I called on 12/10 to get a quote on a new 12 v battery for my Lexus RX 450 hl. I was quoted $292 plus tax, installed. On 12/11 I had my vehicle towed to Firestone in Homer. Then I received a call saying that the price is now $556.30!!! WOW!! Because I complained and shopped the battery elsewhere for $357; Firestone reduced their quote to $473.14. I do not recommend that anyone use them. They appear to be predatory on pricing. Stay away!! read more

Trying to pass emissions.my wife took my son's car in. After an hour of waiting the rudeness began. The older guy really gave her a hard time scheduling a scan. Then they couldn't scan because the car was not being used all the time. Finally after running back and forth it got scanned. Charged me $250 for a gas cap. After 3 days the engine light came back on. Old guy says $950 to fix a leak in a vaccum. Gave me another hard time getting the car away from them. Took it to a different mechanic, $575. To fix . Brought my car in to get new tires and they told me that my tires are not in, I scheduled my appointment over a week ago, when I talked to him over a week ago to set things up, he asked me "when do I want to come in ?" I don't understand why they would ask me that question, instead they could say they will call me when the tires will come in. Few Months ago, I have an appointment to get a oil change done, and the guy at the front desk said they can't do it today because the tech called off sick, yet again, I showed up twice and no work being done. They are not reliable and do not communicate with customers. I am a sales rep for living and I will always call my customers in advanced if my guys won't make it or if the product isn't in yet. I only use these chain places for alignments and misc. work I don't want to do myself or when on a time crunch. I've been in the lobby at this location while they oversell customers and blatantly lie to them. They exaggerate necessary repairs to the point of being humorous. They charged me for a 4 wheel alignment when my antique vehicle only has front adjustments. Not to mention, they tried to convince me my antique car was difficult to work on so they charged me the full 4 wheel alignment price (the only adjustment is a nut on the tie rod, super easy but I don't have measuring equipment at home). This shop, and others alike, will notoriously get your car in the bay with no intent on finishing it quickly, but rather to force you to hire them for the work. They will tell you it will be done in 4 hours with zero intent to finish it, but will put it in their bay and do it the next day or two during slower hours. They purchase parts from the exact stores you can buy from but don't let you bring your own parts or even order directly to the store, so they can up-charge you 50-100% on parts. The mechanics make commissions on sales and unfortunately lie accordingly for their personal gain. Anyone who chooses not to, or doesn't know how to, do work on their own vehicles and therefor relies on mechanics absolutely needs to do research on the industry. Watch undercover news stories (like 20/20) on such auto "repair" chains. Find a local honest mechanic with a family shop. Their reputation is their business and they act and charge accordingly. read more

I have used this Firestone location several times for my F250, family car and also recommended this location to my daughter for new tires. I came in for a coolant exchange on my F250. They quoted me $108.00 for the exchange. My wife paid in full and informed the service advisor that we would wait at home ( we live 2 minutes away) while the work was completed. An hour later, a service manager calls me to inform me that there are some issues with the truck. I told her it's best if I come in person to see what the issues are and if I want them to proceed with any additional work. I walk in the shop and the technician (that performed the coolant exchange) informs me that my water pump needs to be replaced. He tells me that the low readings on the gages and his infrared thermometer indicated that my engine was not warming up. I asked him if it could be a bad thermostat. He doesn't answer my question. ( Now, I know he is using scare tactics on me to purchase a new water pump). I tell him that my mechanic would look at my truck if I really need a new water pump. Now, he changes his tune and tells me that my engine might heat to the right temperature reading after I run the engine for a while. Four days later, my mechanic performs tests on my truck to see if I need a new water pump. Everything is working fine. There are no issues with my truck and do not need a water pump. Next day, I walked in to file a complaint with the manager, and asked him why his technician recommended that I needed a new water pump, while my mechanic found the water pump in good working order. The technician tells the manager the whole story about my truck not heating up but does not inform him that he recommended a new water pump. He lies the whole time and turns the table on me stating that it was me who misconstrued his words. The manager tells me the whole time, '' There's something missing to this story.'' Really! You listened to my side of the story and you listened to your technician's side. What more information do you need? I asked him if he would return my money since they were using scare tactics to perform work that was not needed. He brushed me off and tells me that since engine flush work was done, he would not refund my money. That's fine, I will file a consumer complaint with Firestone headquarters! I filed a complaint with Firestone headquarters. I was offered a $100 voucher for future work, but I refused ( since I will no longer use Firestone). I agreed to a $60.00 credit. read more

Got a referral from one of the guys at Discount Tire across the street since it was 3:45 on a Saturday and they couldn't take my car since he said it was by appointment only. Drove straight to Firestone and They got me right in. Ron and Stamp both offered great service and helped us get a good price. Appreciate the referral for which I gave Discount Tire 5 stars. Staff is very rude, not worth interacting with them and letting them put you in a negative mood for the rest of the day. For example, I just called them earlier today and asked what the earliest opening was for an oil change. Guy on the phone responded aggressively right off the bad "what did you say!?" If there is less than one star I wouldn't hesitate to give them. I did an oil change form my BMW X5 with them, the oil start leaking next day so I return it to them and they said it's a little bit of oil was on the engine and it's gone now. After a week the car lost all the oil and I had to tow it to Bmw dealer and it cost me another $700 to fix what they damaged and the towing cost. The worst service ever read more

Worst customer service in history. Felt like i was at the wiener circle where the schtick is to be rude to you. Combative for no reason. My car was there to plug a tire. I was told it would be 2 hours, fine, i got an uber and left. No call, so i called back 2 hours later......."yeah, they're looking at it now. Will call you back soon." Day ends with no call. Thankfully i have another car. Next day, no call, i call around noon, "oh yeah, it's done". For a plug and patch, 28hrs, no call and a rude attitude the entire time from whoever works the morning shift the last 2 days. I don't know how this place is in business. I run a business, i can't understand why this owner would employ this person. My advice, go somewhere you're not treated like an asshole for attempting to use their service. read more

Brought in a coupon for a $54.99 full synthetic oil change which includes filter. We knew our vehicle would need 3 extra quarts than the 5 included. No problem - retail price at any and big box store is $5/quart. We were charged $5 for the filter (which was included in the coupon), $5 extra labor for premium oil change (no extra work needed beyond standard), and $12.60 per extra quart used. ZERO STARS. I brought my car here because it was squeaking whenever i went over a bump in the road. They charged me $1,300 to repair basically everything but the actual squeaking itself. When I brought the car back to them, they said I now needed a new strut. They are offering to replace the strut for free, but I feel they ripped me off. What the heck was the $1,300 for? Ron checked me in very quickly, explained the offers they had which is what brought me in, I had great service! I was able to test out the tires the next day on a bit of a long haul, experienced some heavy rain as well. The tires made such a difference, the ride is much smoother, a lot less vibration & feels more stable, like the tires are glued to the ground ..we feel much safer. They were able to fit me in promptly considering I was concerned about the noises coming from my vehicle. I brought car in at 8am and it was there until 5pm. They were able to do a complete inspection of my vehicle as well as a winter preparation package. He gave me a thorough lost of all the things wrong with it. All of them I figured a such considering the noises coming from the brakes and rear struts. So I knew I could trust them by this point and that they weren't trying to sell me stuff I didn't need. He even took me back to see the severe date to my struts and brakes. I really appreciated this. They also gave me payment options, basically I could take care of the most urgent things first and come in when I can pay or sign up for their credit card. I also appreciated this help. Purchased four new tires....picked up the car with the tire sensor still on and a small leak happening soon after. Also put new back brakes on. Brakes were squealing the whole time afterwards. Over $1000 spent. Took the vehicle back in, small leak was fixed and was told the cause of the squeal was the front bearing going out. This was told to me after another complete brake inspection. Replacing the bearing would've cost $600. Took vehicle to a local competitor who discovered the back brakes were not put on properly, old hardware was reused, and brakes were not lubricated properly. Bearing is old but not going out or making a noise. Had I spent $600 for the bearing, either the noise wouldn't be gone or they would've basically pocketed the money and lubed the brakes. Very shady. Definitely will not be returning. read more

I have been coming here since 2012. I am not sure what happened in the last year but employees have changed and customer service has declined. When I called to make my appointment the guy who answered the phone I could barely understand, and was rude. All I needed was a wheel stud replaced, I called four other shops and the price ranged from 50-70 dollars but none of them could get me in. I make an appointment for 9am. I show up for my appointment today at 0845, the wheel stud had not been ordered the previous day when the appointment was made so that caused a delay. After they work was complete total time was an hour and 15 minutes. Way to long for a wheel stud replacement. When I'm handed the bill it totaled 115 dollars and change. They charged me 25.89 for a 5 dollar wheel stud. Labor was 82 dollars there was a 4.95 shop equipment few and taxes. I don't mind paying a premium for quality work, peace of mind, and awesome customer service. I received none of those things today. So after 3 years and thousands of dollars spent at your shop, today you have lost yet another customer. Go anywhere else. read more

All these type of stores have challenges...it's really up the consumer to know what to ask, expect, and challenge anyone when seeking services. While there is no excuse for rudeness or communication skills that are lacking in customer service, I can tell you I've been going to this sight for years and have always worked through the front desk folks like Mike and Stamp or others in the past and rec'd fair and equitable treatment, price adjustments, or discounts when reviewed or necessary. This is my second time back. They did a great job on a flat tire on a cold Sunday afternoon 6 months ago. I returned today because they had the best price on Bridgestone tires for my SUV. They changed the oil for $19.99, four new tires, and alignment in 2 hours and $200 less than NTB, and $100 than Discount. Nice crew. They are open Sundays and most holidays. read more

My conversation with them on the phone to make my appointment was great. I wanted an inspection on my tires and brakes. $9.99 sounded like a great deal, I knew they were gonna come up with something - but piece of mind before a road trip was what I was looking for. However after an hour (a different man helped me) I was told 'yeah rust on the rotors, brakes need to be changed $775 bucks! For rotors and pads? I was pretty shocked considering a few months ago we did my husbands for just under $500 - but once I complained - he's like well here - I'll take off $150. Really?? #1-Couldn't u give me that price in the first place??? And #2- it's totally normal for rotors to have rust - so telling me this furthers irritates the original price and the reason for the new brakes. You lost a customer today. read more

It was not a pleasant experience. Staff never greets me. I came in person, and a staff scheduled my appointment 2 days from the day I asked for a wheel alignment. Staff asked my phone number, but not my name. Why didn't he ask my name? Staff asked what the problem was. I explained that my car was drifting to the left. After appointment was setup, I left. So, I came back 2 days later. That same staff asked what my appointment was. He asked my phone number, then he asks for my name. I told him, he won't find my name because he never asked it 2 days ago. This was my first time getting service there. He asked again what my car's problem was. What was he typing on the computer 2 days ago? Why did he need to ask me this question again? After 20 mins after my scheduled time, work began on my car. 20 mins later, my car was moved in front of the entrance. No one told me my car was ready. After 20 mins more, I asked another staff if my car was ready. He told me the "equinox" parked outside is ready. I told him , that is a Honda CRV, that is my car. I hate it when I had to wait extra 20 mins only to be told by a staff I was wrong. Does he think I am stupid not to know my own car? Then the staff who was assigned to me finally came in. He was clueless my car was ready. I never received any initial and final printouts of the wheel alignments. I bet they didn't even test drove my car. So, I went to the highway and local roads to test my car. Now it was drifting a little to the right. This was just terrible. Some people need a brain alignment in this branch. Teach them courtesy and honesty. I do not expect to be treated like a king. I get treated better at McDonald's. I do not want to waste more time getting my wheel alignment corrected, as I know they might just make it worse, and I would lose more of my time. I have been ripped off many times by car repair services, and I will be writing my reviews for the others today. It would be nice to know if this branch calibrate their machines or I wonder how the staff were hired. Which technical school did they graduate from? CANNOT BE TRUSTED WITH A SIMPLE OIL CHANGE! My wife stopped in to Firestone in Homer Glen (where she's gone for every oil change since they opened) for a simple oil change with my 3mo. old son today while running errands and left with a mess! After about 30 minutes in the waiting room she finally heard the sound of her car being started and thought "they're finally done"....she was wrong. She took a look out the window to the garage to see the tech. throwing towels down all over the oil covering the floor that sprayed out from the car. Another 30 minutes later and she was finally notified the car was ready. The tech. said there was a problem with a gasket, after my wife asked him for more details he finally said there were 2 gaskets on the filter which caused out to spill out. What happened was this tech who we trust with our vehicle that drives our 3 month old son around and who supposedly is qualified to change oil and tires on cars all day long, never bothered to make sure the rubber gasket on the oil filter came off with the original filter and also didn't bother to look at the oil filter mount on the engine nor clean it before installing the new filter! Therefore, the new filter was installed on the filter mount with the 2nd gasket stuck on there and oil sprayed all over the place. They told my wife they cleaned it up and everything was good to go. Well, thankfully we don't live far because all the oil that sprayed out was now burning off the engine and smoke was emanating from under the hood and entering the passenger compartment with my 3mo old son in the back seat. My wife had to open the windows on this 19 degree day so they could breath. When my wife arrived home she explained to me what the tech told her and asked me to take a look at the car and that she has to leave the garage door open due to all the smoke. I took a look and had to run for some towels and oil pans as there's oil dripping on the garage floor from the bottom of the engine. I immediately called the manager of the store to find out why this was allowed to happened and to convey my sentiments. All he could tell me is if I wanted I could come back and they could try to clean it with degreaser.....why wasn't this done in the 1st place???? I have a car that's smoking so bad I can't drive it with the windows up, I have oil puddles all over the garage floor and a trail down my driveway and I should now waste my day driving back there so they can clean it again the way it was supposed to be cleaned, then come home to clean my garage floor and driveway? I shouldn't neglect to mention when I went out to double check the dipstick I found out it's been overfilled! So now my Saturday is spent cleaning oil from my garage/driveway/undercarriage of the car and then pulling the oil pan drain plug to get the oil to the proper level. The tech also told my wife she needs new wiper blades (the Goodyear wiper blades on her car are 2 months old), and she also needs a new battery because "in the cold weather it might not start" (also something he never bothered to even look at as if he took 30 seconds to wipe the dirt from the label on the battery he'd have seen the date on the battery and realized it's only 1 year old and definitely not in need of replacement). Every time I have come here for an oil change and tire rotation, they come up with some new hidden charge. They definitely will take advantage of you if they think you're a naive female. They consistently claim my tires - bought directly from their shop - aren't in the system and I have to fight for the free tire rotation. They even physically walked to my car to check the wheels - after the rotation had already been done! I know you guys can recognize your own wheels, you had just rotated them! They've tried to do a more expensive oil change that my car didn't need without explaining any deviation from the usual oil change I've been getting twice a year for YEARS. Those who don't know a lot about cars can still read incorrect receipts. Oh and another thing, let someone look over everything you're doing instead of pointing to a line and saying to sign it, then later claiming "We talked about this beforehand". No we didn't, you pointed to a line and whisked me away to wait for my car. Points for a quick oil change, but that's barely a consolation prize. read more
