Don't go to this location, they will lie to get you to spend money. Went in to have 2 leaky tires to be looked at and was told that apparently my vehicle needed an alignment and due to that my tires inner wall/tread was so worn that they needed to be replaced immediately. Did not sound right to me so I went to a different discount tire where I was told that one tire had a screw in it and the other just had an old valve and there was nothing wrong with the inner wall/tread of either of my tires. read more

As a new discount tire customer I don't think I will be back to get a new set of tires with them ever again. Don't get me wrong. Their service is professional and they kept the deal I had gotten with Jacob Garcia the old general manager. I have no complaints about that. But, their timeline about delivery is way off. I had gotten my tires and paid for them on January 26th of 2026. As of January 28, 2026 I'm still missing one of my tires and it's been two days the general manager named Ryan guaranteed my rear tire to be here. But because it was delayed by one day, I was OK with it. Being day 2 of me waiting on a tire I called the store just to make sure that they have it so I don't have to drive all the way over there. And the guy who answered told me that I had to wait until tomorrow which is going to be January 29 of 2026. That would make it three days so I told him I was like no I can't wait anymore. I need my tire because Ryan guaranteed the arrival today. And then get this Ryan wanted to give me a refund of $20 for the inconvenience, but I don't even think that's enough because now I have to wait longer for me to get my tire. The guy who I spoke over the phone said he had to call whoever was delivering the tire to see what the route. But it looks like a store in Boerne has that rear tire that I need he called them. He said that he has to get it delivered, but it won't be in until 5 PM an hour before they close what kind of crap is that?. overall do I recommend this discount tire? probably not. Do I recommend getting information from one of the guys ? yes. but to get tires that need to be ordered I recommend to call ahead or ask about their availability. At this location I would not recommend anybody, especially if you are in urgency to get your vehicle serviced. I'm happy that I have tires but I'm not happy about having to wait and wait. read more

After dropping off, I was told I would get a call when it was ready. 4 1/2 hours later, I called for an update and was told it was ready for pick up. I had my son pick it up and when I got home from work and looked at the tires, I noticed the old ones were still on there. The new tires were never installed. Dave helped me out big time today. After spending nearly 2 hours at another discount tire, only to leave with a steering wheel wobble twice as bad as when I came in, I remembered the Hillcrest store helped me once before so thats where I drove straight to. Not sure why but the guys at this store make other stores look like amateurs. I live a long way from this store but after multiple recommendations I had to try them out. I have been coming here for a few years and I always have amazing service. I love how teamwork exists in this location, each employee switch from the back with the vehicles to the front to assist customers while also helping their fellow coworkers. I don't really write reviews but I noticed a little detail that they took care of when I took my tires for a rotation recently. I lost 2 valve caps throughout the year (from driving) after I had purchased my tires at Discount and I pushed it aside to get new ones until today. Went to this Discount Tire because they had the tires I wanted in stock according to their website. I had priced out the tires on their website before going in so I was aware of how much the total price would be. The dude I spoke with quoted me the same price after we had checked out my car. He tried to upsell a wheel package and their road service warranty. I declined. He didn't push. To me, that's great. I hate it when sales folks are overly pushy. In terms of service. So I got there at 10am on Tuesday and was out of there by 11:30 or so. There were only a few people in front of me and as I waited there more people came in. I cannot speak to the average wait time but the guy I spoke with estimated 1-1/2 hours and that's what it turned out to be. The waiting area and the sales floor are one in the same. There are many chairs to sit on while you wait. Some are near outlets (not many) so you can bring a laptop or whatever if you want to get some work done. They have complimentary bottles of water available. But this is a tire shop at the end of the day and not a spa, so manage your expectations about the amenities you think you're entitled to receive. All the folks I spoke with were professional and knowledgeable. What more do you need from a discount tire. Protip: If you're getting air in your tires or fixing a flat, just go to one of the HUNDREDS of mom & pop tire shops in San Antonio. They'll fix your flat for $5 and it'll take 10 min. Discount Tire doesn't have any magical wizardry that magically fixes a nail in a tire; they offer the same plug/patches that any other tire shop will use. Seriously. I don't know why one would go to a place like Discount Tire for such service unless you are willing to wait around awhile because they have other shit going on. TL;DR: If someone tells you it's gonna take 45 min to fix a flat, go down the street to a tire shop and pay $5, your time is worth it. read more

I was there today just to get my 4 tires filled up. They were low due to the weather change. I love that they provide free air fills and check your tire tread. Bruce was the one that helped me today. There was a long line of cars and I could see that he was super cheerful and patient with each customer. You can see he really takes pride in his work. The sun was beating down on him and he has to squat 4x with each vehicle, yet he was so courteous and professional. They did a great job hiring people like Bruce to work there. a little known fact here is that sometimes if you come here right before it closes they might take all four of your tires and not charge you to store and keep your old tires at their location. this happened to my mom's sister. I don't know if this is one of the unwritten rules to avoid having to pay for them to keep your old tires but they didn't charge her sister for doing that. also it may be cheaper to buy all four tires as a set in the long run rather than buy tires individually. you might as well buy all for because they are going to charge you taxes for each one you buy individually and save yourself the trouble of overpaying even further than they want you to. also they have a free Wi-Fi and a mini-fridge that has free water bottles. you can bring your own individual flavor powder pack(s) and pour it into the water bottle and drink that instead. you can find them at the dollar tree or family dollar or Wal-Mart, etc. rather than drinking water the whole time. also not giving them a hard time and making them feel good may come off as a great blessing in disguise because they may wave any additional fees they are not required charge but do so anyway here just to get out more money out of you here. read more

Checking air in tires, what a hassle. Literally, 11 vehicles in line. 1 attendant checking all wheels , while goofing off with coworkers. Then, attendant walked in side, no one else covered for him, 10 min later he comes back out. Then, a small truck broke down next to the shop, an older man driving the truck stepped out, tried to push it on his own, attendant just stood and stared while other customers in line waiting to get air checked got off their vehicles to help older man push his truck in. My wait time for air pressure check was 45 min. I've been to Alamo heights, and Bandera Rd shops with same long lines, always 2 attendants servicing air pressure. Here at hillcrest, attendants are kind when one on one, but inconsiderate with others. My indicators on dash noted that pressure was low, so I had to check them to avoid a tire bust, Otherwise I would've left after 20 min. For air pressure check, I do not recommend! read more

I bought the current set of tires on my AWD vehicle a little over a year ago, and since I didn't do most of the talking regarding the warrantee, I didn't really know what to expect when I arrived early Saturday morning to replace a tire with a nail in the non-repairable zone.
