We were super excited to try Dishoom during our London visit. We started off with Vada Pav - which is definitely a must have! I am glad my cousin forced me to have a full one ;) It does transport you back to Bombay! The okra fries, dishoom house chaat and saffron cauliflower were good too. We liked jackfruit biryani as well - but we were expecting spicy biryani. The decor is that typical old school Bombay in 60-70's. Love all the detailing! But bottom line is there are much better Indian restaurants in NYC and NJ. Dishoom was not particularly a wow factor for us :)

Had an amazing work dinner at Dishoom! The service was great and we didn't have to wait since we had a reservation! I love the ambience of this restaurant and the street theme. We had a family style dinner and some of the stand outs were the lamb keema, lamb chops and the chicken curry. This is a go to every time I'm in London!

3.7/5 -- i do eat indian food/ curry almost every day, so my palette is more refined :P no but fr i think dishoom is a great starter pack for someone who's never had indian cuisine, but my mum definitely makes better food/ even los angeles spots have more flavor. however, i love the interior design, bathrooms are old school, and waiters are charming

This was my second time at Dishoom but my sister's first time. I would say if you're making a trip to the UK, a pilgrimage here is needed at least once (I would say once being the maximum, given there's so many other Indian restaurants in the UK). I went for the bottomless chai , which is an absolute must and it was really good. They serve it in a glass , which to be honest feels a little bit convenient since it's piping hot. We got the chicken tikka masala with garlic naan (nothing to write home about here). We also got the Samosa chaat as an appetizer, which me and my sister both enjoyed. I also decided to get the chicken ruby curry, which seemed to be very popular across all the review platforms. It was.... OK. lol. Overall, none of the food here is bad. It's just I think this establishment gets so much hype for what it is. This location is particularly historic as it was built on a trade spot between Indians and the British; the place maintains most of the architecture from more than 100 years ago. Service here is pretty good too. We walked in on a Sunday afternoon and were able to get high table seatings.

First time visiting this Dishoom location and the consistency across the brand is why you'll always find a queue waiting for a table. We came for a late lunch/early dinner and the wait was quoted around 30 minutes or so. For smaller tables there were offers to sit outside, but it was a particularly sunny and warm day so we waited for an indoor table. Inside is also where the ambiance is at its peak. While waiting drinks were brought out to the line. We ordered an assortment of food, our appetizers were brought to another table on accident but our server made it her mission to track them down to ensure they got to us. Next time I'll skip the samosas, but chili chicken will always be on the list and the garlic naan! Hurry up US Dishoom!!

You have to visit this place when you go to London! The food is delicious, price is very reasonable, ambience is so pretty! They even provide drinks and snacks while you wait. Reserve a table way ahead of time. Server was very knowledgeable! The okra appetizer was delicious! Kheema samosa was good! Rumali roti was fresh! Chicke curry and pav paji are also a must try!

One of my favorite dining experiences in London because of the association with restaurants in Bombay, where I grew up. Visited with extended family and we had a lovely time trying various drinks - both alcoholic (like Colaba Colada) and non-alcoholic (like Kala Khatta Sharbat), plus an assortment of snacks and entrées I grew up on - like pav bhaji and murgh malai. Prices were reasonable and service was decent. Seating was a bit tight and it was a tad too loud for my taste. Bathrooms were clean. Happy to try other Dishoom locations in the future.

Fantastic experience! All dishes were great with the Black daal and goan fish curry as stand outs. So was the dark chocolate dessert which came to celebrate a birthday.

Dishoom came highly recommended by other travels and friends as a must try Indian restaurant while visiting the UK. There are multiple locations, but this one by the Coal Drops Yard was the closest one to where we were staying. We made reservations in advanced and dodged the long wait. The folks who came right before us without reservations were told they had to wait 60-75 minutes. There are some nights where walk-ins are even turned away because they're so busy. The interior was very dimlit and intimate. Every table was full the whole time we were there. We were table to the bottom level. Service was really slow. Not because staff was inefficient but it seems like each wait staff had to manage many tables. Everything was slow from getting the menu, to waiting to order, to getting the food, and waiving down for the bill. My boyfriend and I shared the Dishoom Chicken Tikka (£14.70), House Black Daal (£11.50), Grilled Greens (£7.50), and a Garlic Naan (£5.40). It's important to note that this chicken tikka is a dry rub version and not the curry masala version you typically think of. The chicken was moist and well flavored but in some spots there was more seasoning than others so it seems inconsistent. The house black daal that came highly recommended is a slow cooked lentils cooked for over 24 hours, which makes it too mushy for my liking from a textural perspective. It was also really spicy. The grilled greens during our visit was split peas and broccolini. They were simple but a nice relief to the rest of the meal. Their version of the garlic naan was soft and bready, not flakey compared to some other versions I had. It could have used more garlic for my liking. My boyfriend really enjoyed this meal and considered potentially the best Indian restaurant he has experienced. I live in an area with a large Indian population and I have been to many Indian restaurants so I can't say I was as impressed. Also the long wait between things was a turn off. If you decide to come, bring your patience.

Dinner: DISHOOM CHICKEN TIKKA, MASALA PRAWNS (Spicy a little) with roti. It was soooooo good. The flavors were incredible! Cooked and seasoned to perfection. Breakfast: chocolate chai and Chai immaculate. Mango lassi yummy! Big Bombay the eggs were so good with the beans and bread! The specialty naans were good! The naan was my favorite! Can't wait to go back when I'm back in London! Everything was so good. We went to dinner; there was a little bit of a hold up in the kitchen but they handled us very well kept us updated if they were still going to serve food. Place was nice, clean and well operated! We waited and when they gave us our food it was 1000% worth the wait. We ordered the naan but couldn't get it but they replaced it with the roti and it was stillll so good.

This place is an experience! The food will remind you of the taste from India. Their speciality is the bun maska Pao with chai - yummy! The prawns and biryani were superb too! If you are a loyal customer and have a key, on week days, you can roll a die and get the meal for free if you get a six. I thought it was just a fantasy- but we got a six and the entire meal was on the house! Loved the vibe of this place - everyone serving us was super warm and helpful. I love buying extra things from their shop as I leave / to carry a piece of the experience with me. I always visit Dishoom during my trips to London!

On our last night in London, we were lucky to eat here despite not having a reservation. We walked in and waited about an hour for a table for 6 people. The place was really noisy so it was a bit hard for us to hear but they did their best to seat us in a less noisy place. There was some confusion on number of people as we had updated it to 6 from 5 but they first gave us a table for 5 instead of 6. Because it was loud we had some communication issues with our waiter re: a couple of orders, but he quickly and calmly fixed it. He was even so nice as to mark up a menu to make sure I would avoid ordering anything with bell peppers, since I don't eat them. Everyone was just so pleasant and attentive and catered to our situation with our 80 year old aunts and preferences. The cocktails were well done and my favorite food items were the black house daal and the lamb chop! I wish they had one of these restaurants in Austin, TX. So yummy!

Dishoom lives up to the hype--an absolute must-visit! Ambiance & Service: The King's Cross location is spacious with a stylish modern-industrial vibe. Service was friendly and efficient. Food & Drink: - Chocolate Chai & Chai: Both are excellent--chocolate chai is a must if you love hot cocoa vibes. - Okra Fries: Crispy, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. - Vada Pau: Soft roll with a spicy fried potato ball--delicious but packs heat! - Mattar Paneer & Cheese Naan: Rich, flavorful curry with super soft paneer; the cheesy naan was the perfect pairing. TL;DR: Flavorful food, stylish space, and standout chai--Dishoom definitely earns the hype!

For starters, we had the prawns and veggie samosas. Prawns were good and my family enjoyed the veggie samosas. Please not there are only 2 to an order. The black lentils were good but the full flavor wasn't there and it wasn't as creamy as I've had in the past. The best ones I've had were in Thailand, but this didn't even come close. For both the lentils and the biryani, we had to add salt to try to enhance the flavor. We decides to give dessert a try and it was just okay. Initially we planned on order the gulag jamun, but it came with Cornish (vanilla) ice cream and I wanted pistachio. They were very inflexible and would not swipe out the ice cream even though they physically have to put the vanilla scoops on top. Overall, we wouldn't be back here. I feel like all my friends who've been to London have come back talking about this place, and I'm happy to join their ranks. Dishoom was also one of a handful of dining options recommended by my hotel concierge for a party of 11, including kids. Booking was easy, via SevenRooms, no phone calls or emails necessary. It's a large restaurant, and part of a popular chain--I guess they have things figured out. The space was great, open and casual, exposed ceilings and eclectic decor. Lots of fans, which my three-year-old appreciated. Service was friendly and attentive. I started my lunch with a drink, a refreshing green India Gimlet, gin and Rose's lime with celery bitters and fresh dill. I also tried and liked a sip of the New Permit Room Old-Fashioned, a slightly sweet cocktail with coconut-washed bourbon, Pedo Ximénez sherry, and Medjool date liqueur. There was only one menu available for a party of our size, a pre-set family-style group feast for eight adults, to which we added a pre-ordered platter of lamb chops. I loved the variety of dishes that came with this meal, and every one of them was ridiculously delicious. (There was less available for the three small American children, but they loaded up on hotel breakfast and snacked on naan and colorful puffed crackers.) The first round brought trays loaded with keema pau, okra fries, and bhel, along with lime, cilantro, and sauces for serving. The keema pau was incredible, probably my favorite dish of our lunch, if in part because it was 100% new to me. It was a spicy, aromatic blend of minced lamb and peas with dill and lindi pepper, served with toasted, buttered buns to make little sliders. So much flavor, it almost explained, by itself, why the British could never leave India alone. The okra fries were warm and crispy, and I loved the bhel, a crunchy snack of puffed rice, peanuts, and Bombay Mix tossed with pomegranate, tomato, onion, lime, tamarind, and mint. The main course was another giant spread: chicken ruby, house black daal, awadhi jackfruit biryani, and chilled broccoli salad, plus our charred lamb chops, with sides of roti, naan, and raita. The chicken ruby was the highlight here, a fragrant, comforting curry with tender chicken in a buttery makhani sauce. The house black daal is a Dishoom signature, and it was lovely, cooked for over 24 hours. The biryani was fluffy and nice, studded with jackfruit, barberries, and sultanas. The broccoli salad was a fresh hit of green, enhanced with pistachio, mint, red chillies, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, dates, and lime. The lamb chops made for a hearty entrée with a lot of flavor, the lamb marinated, grilled, and finished with Kashmiri chilli sauce. The thin, griddled roomali roti and the fresh-baked naan were both great accompaniments, as was the minty, cucumbery raita. For dessert, we had a choice of kulfi, creamy ice pops available in mango, pistachio, or malai, the original flavor touched with caramel. All three were superb, so cold and milk, easy to throw down the hatch. This was, it turned out, an enormous feast, but everything was so delicious and well balanced that I didn't notice how much I was eating until I got up. I was still full several hours later, when we went to dinner. If you want to eat Indian food in London, you should definitely find your nearest Dishoom. It's a wonderful restaurant, with top-notch food and no hassle. I certainly intend to go again.

How coincidental is that, to be thousands of miles away from home in a different continent, and to come across a photograph of the very street corner I cross multiple times a week! I don't recall what my husband had (a chicken dish), but I had Acharri Murgha ("chicken curry cooked in a traditional pickling spice mix") and it was delicious! Both my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal -- it was a taste of home! I also had a couple of glasses of wine, but each glass was 250ml, so I was pretty tipsy. In the washroom, a woman, another tourist, started conversing with me, but she only spoke French, and despite being drunk and rarely speaking French, I was able to have a semi-coherent conversation (she was also a bit tipsy). I had a drunken conversation in French inside an Indian restaurant in England! Anyway, Punjab Restaurant is one of the best Indian restaurants I have been to, and it is no surprise that it has been around since 1946. [Yelp collections: Europe 2024; London, England]
