First time visiting this Dishoom location and the consistency across the brand is why you'll always find a queue waiting for a table. We came for a late lunch/early dinner and the wait was quoted around 30 minutes or so. For smaller tables there were offers to sit outside, but it was a particularly sunny and warm day so we waited for an indoor table. Inside is also where the ambiance is at its peak. While waiting drinks were brought out to the line. We ordered an assortment of food, our appetizers were brought to another table on accident but our server made it her mission to track them down to ensure they got to us. Next time I'll skip the samosas, but chili chicken will always be on the list and the garlic naan! Hurry up US Dishoom!!
You have to visit this place when you go to London! The food is delicious, price is very reasonable, ambience is so pretty! They even provide drinks and snacks while you wait. Reserve a table way ahead of time. Server was very knowledgeable! The okra appetizer was delicious! Kheema samosa was good! Rumali roti was fresh! Chicke curry and pav paji are also a must try!
One of my favorite dining experiences in London because of the association with restaurants in Bombay, where I grew up. Visited with extended family and we had a lovely time trying various drinks - both alcoholic (like Colaba Colada) and non-alcoholic (like Kala Khatta Sharbat), plus an assortment of snacks and entrées I grew up on - like pav bhaji and murgh malai. Prices were reasonable and service was decent. Seating was a bit tight and it was a tad too loud for my taste. Bathrooms were clean. Happy to try other Dishoom locations in the future.
Dishoom came highly recommended by other travels and friends as a must try Indian restaurant while visiting the UK. There are multiple locations, but this one by the Coal Drops Yard was the closest one to where we were staying. We made reservations in advanced and dodged the long wait. The folks who came right before us without reservations were told they had to wait 60-75 minutes. There are some nights where walk-ins are even turned away because they're so busy. The interior was very dimlit and intimate. Every table was full the whole time we were there. We were table to the bottom level. Service was really slow. Not because staff was inefficient but it seems like each wait staff had to manage many tables. Everything was slow from getting the menu, to waiting to order, to getting the food, and waiving down for the bill. My boyfriend and I shared the Dishoom Chicken Tikka (£14.70), House Black Daal (£11.50), Grilled Greens (£7.50), and a Garlic Naan (£5.40). It's important to note that this chicken tikka is a dry rub version and not the curry masala version you typically think of. The chicken was moist and well flavored but in some spots there was more seasoning than others so it seems inconsistent. The house black daal that came highly recommended is a slow cooked lentils cooked for over 24 hours, which makes it too mushy for my liking from a textural perspective. It was also really spicy. The grilled greens during our visit was split peas and broccolini. They were simple but a nice relief to the rest of the meal. Their version of the garlic naan was soft and bready, not flakey compared to some other versions I had. It could have used more garlic for my liking. My boyfriend really enjoyed this meal and considered potentially the best Indian restaurant he has experienced. I live in an area with a large Indian population and I have been to many Indian restaurants so I can't say I was as impressed. Also the long wait between things was a turn off. If you decide to come, bring your patience.
Dinner: DISHOOM CHICKEN TIKKA, MASALA PRAWNS (Spicy a little) with roti. It was soooooo good. The flavors were incredible! Cooked and seasoned to perfection. Breakfast: chocolate chai and Chai immaculate. Mango lassi yummy! Big Bombay the eggs were so good with the beans and bread! The specialty naans were good! The naan was my favorite! Can't wait to go back when I'm back in London! Everything was so good. We went to dinner; there was a little bit of a hold up in the kitchen but they handled us very well kept us updated if they were still going to serve food. Place was nice, clean and well operated! We waited and when they gave us our food it was 1000% worth the wait. We ordered the naan but couldn't get it but they replaced it with the roti and it was stillll so good.
This place is an experience! The food will remind you of the taste from India. Their speciality is the bun maska Pao with chai - yummy! The prawns and biryani were superb too! If you are a loyal customer and have a key, on week days, you can roll a die and get the meal for free if you get a six. I thought it was just a fantasy- but we got a six and the entire meal was on the house! Loved the vibe of this place - everyone serving us was super warm and helpful. I love buying extra things from their shop as I leave / to carry a piece of the experience with me. I always visit Dishoom during my trips to London!
On our last night in London, we were lucky to eat here despite not having a reservation. We walked in and waited about an hour for a table for 6 people. The place was really noisy so it was a bit hard for us to hear but they did their best to seat us in a less noisy place. There was some confusion on number of people as we had updated it to 6 from 5 but they first gave us a table for 5 instead of 6. Because it was loud we had some communication issues with our waiter re: a couple of orders, but he quickly and calmly fixed it. He was even so nice as to mark up a menu to make sure I would avoid ordering anything with bell peppers, since I don't eat them. Everyone was just so pleasant and attentive and catered to our situation with our 80 year old aunts and preferences. The cocktails were well done and my favorite food items were the black house daal and the lamb chop! I wish they had one of these restaurants in Austin, TX. So yummy!
Dishoom lives up to the hype--an absolute must-visit! Ambiance & Service: The King's Cross location is spacious with a stylish modern-industrial vibe. Service was friendly and efficient. Food & Drink: - Chocolate Chai & Chai: Both are excellent--chocolate chai is a must if you love hot cocoa vibes. - Okra Fries: Crispy, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. - Vada Pau: Soft roll with a spicy fried potato ball--delicious but packs heat! - Mattar Paneer & Cheese Naan: Rich, flavorful curry with super soft paneer; the cheesy naan was the perfect pairing. TL;DR: Flavorful food, stylish space, and standout chai--Dishoom definitely earns the hype!
Second time here - pretty much a must-go every time I'm in London. As soon as you walk in, you walk into a warm haze of incense smell. There's a very rich smell of cardamom, cinnamon, chai, and various other spices. We ended up ordering: Dishoom House Chaat ($10) Side Chili Broccoli Salad ($8) Nali Nihari Biryani ($26) House Black Daal ($10) Naan Food was amazing - slow cooked lamb shank into a biryani was the highlight. Gravy was addicting and wanted to spread it onto everything. House Chaat was also very refreshing, good balance of citrus, sweet, minty, and savory. This was The server was very kind to recommend a drink, given it was a very hot day. We got the Blushing Colada - would recommend. Super refreshing for a hot day. Dishoom never disappoints!
How does London have better Indian food that India itself?? We stopped by the King's Cross location and we were glad that they were serving up lemonade to the folks who were waiting in the long line to get in. Once inside, we got the chai, the Kati roll, the ruby chicken with garlic naan, and the lamb samosas. Everything was excellent and up to the high bar that Dishoom sets for itself. Can't wait for them to come to America!
Dishoom was something i have always been told to try for a very long time so i was sooo excited we had the opportunity to go on my london trip! There was a tiny wait but we were greeted with sherry and i got a limeade little drink as we waited and they had great system for their waiting queues. The inside was beautiful. We decided to brace the winds and cold and eat outside. While the service was absolutely incredible, the food was slightly disappointing. Not only was the menu very limited imo. We got a variety of things that were just okay. The kebabs were not evenly cooked. Some were okay others were burnt. The ruby chicken dish was very okay and very small portion. The house black dahl was the only dish we really loved. It might have been an off night so will definitely be okay to try again but i did not really understand the hype read more
*EXPERIENCE: Definitely make reservations in advance so you're not stuck waiting in line forever, especially if you have a flight or train to catch! Upon being seated, I definitely ordered a chai and my husband thought he got an expresso martini but it turned out to be non-alcoholic. Nevertheless, it was still delicious. I also didn't realize that the brunch and lunch menu were different. They don't start serving lunch until noon. We were there at 11 and had a flight to catch so we just ordered brunch. *FOOD: the brunch items were definitely not S delicious or unique as lunch/dinner menu. Yet another fantastic meal at Dishoom. I arrived at 9:40pm on a Saturday night as a single willing to sit at a bar seat, and it was still so crowded there was a 40 minute wait! Fortunately only 5 minutes of that was outside, then I was taken to the waiting bar where I could drink a couple delicious cocktails, it probably was about ~30min total wait until I was seated at a table, definitely worth it. It was still packed when I left a little after 11! The food was as fantastic as I've come to expect from a Dishoom at this point (been to another London location and Edinburgh). I stuck with small plates - I'd come for the chilli chicken this time, and unfortunately they'd run out, but I still got 3 delicious dishes. The keema samosa were delicious, with different dough than your typical Samosa, a Gujarati dough that was a bit flakier/thinner than a normal Samosa. Flavor was fantastic, and allowed you to highlight their ridiculously good chutneys. Their Vada Pav is as good as you get in India, with a great mix of chutneys on top and a well flavored potato/bun. Great texture. Lastly their house chaat was great, I'd say it's base is an Aloo Chaat, but they make it their own. All in all I was very happy with a late dinner after a long flight from the states, very convenient to Kings Cross area hotels, great service. read more

Large space . Highly recommend reservations and make sure you are on time Large menu but number of main course dishes are limited But has a large selection of drink. Make sure to ask additional drink menu. It is very popular, hence crowded so had difficulty with conversation with each other. This is one of highly recommended restaurants if you are in London. read more
from waiting for a table to end of meal, the service was impeccable. although the restaurant was very busy and noisy, the staff still make an effort to check in regularly and remain friendly. the food is absolutely delicious, especially the homemade buns. everything was so flavorful and spiced well, and the house chai and chocolate chai were refillable which made it ten times better. read more

Went for a quick lunch and got their famous ruby chicken and chocolate pudding. The vibes were super cute, and the chicken was juicer compared to other chicken tikka masala dishes. However, the garlic naan was pretty dry and not as flavorful as I expected. The chocolate pudding was a very well made lava cake with amazing filling, but I could not handle the spicy ice cream. There was no wait when I went but usually there's a pretty long line for dinner. read more

Run, don't walk here! The food is amazing!! Honestly, a 10 out of 10. The lamb chops were my favorite. The pomegranate and lemon really said it over the edge. The spicy lamb was a close second as well. So good spicy but not overwhelmingly hot. I can't wait to go and try more things from the menu. Although the restaurant looks small from the outside, it is very large and the ambience is nice. They have a bar downstairs to order drinks at while you wait on the table. I can't wait to come back to London and try Dishoom again! read more

The servers force you to order more things. I think 2 mains were more than enough for 2 people, the server kept forcing me to order 2 more items, like no???? The food is mediocre at best as compared to other Indian restaurants in London. No clue what the hype is all about. Ambiance is the only good thing read more

Service was good, we were seated relatively quickly after being directed to the bar while we waited. Food was ok, not strong with flavors or spice. Loved the creativity throughout the establishment, from the restroom decor to the drink recipes. read more

This is arguably the best Dishoom for its unique, classic interior among other Dishooms. Must come here for the breakfast naan rolls! Their bottomless chai tea was hard to pass up every time the servers came by - would recommend whole milk over oat milk if you are lactose tolerant :) read more
Easily the best Indian food I've ever had. They don't take dinner reservations so we queued up outside, which took about 30 minutes. They bring out free chai, lemon lime soda, and sherry out while you wait. When you get to the front of the line, you go inside to the host/ess and they give you a buzzer, and you wait downstairs at the bar area. We waited here for about another 30 minutes, and ordered a drink while we waited (there's so many unique concoctions!) we finally get seated and our waitress provided an allergy matrix so I could double check all the food we wanted would be safe to eat. We ordered the lamb samosas, chicken ruby, tikka masala wrap, garlic naan, and chicken berry britannia biryani. We were told the black dahl would've been another good choice but we were so full after all we had! There's definitely some heat if you're not used to it but so tasty. read more
I've heard so much about Dishoom and finally had the opportunity to dine here with my friends. Their restaurant pays homage to Irani cafes with a Bombay twist. It's a great place for a group as they have vegetarian and GF/DF options as well for those with diet restrictions. We ordered a bunch of things to share family style BUT if you dine here and you love chai tea.... ORDER IT. Their house chai is absolutely amazing. The best part... it's bottomless chai until 5:30PM which we didn't know about until our meal was over. Our server who looked like Simon Cowell was so sweet! He's so friendly and really takes the time to make you comfortable and answer any questions you have. I didn't LOVE everything here (came close), but I still gave them 5 stars because everyone has different tastes and preferences. I'm not gonna lie, I honestly don't remember everything we ordered! I know, I know.. slackin on this yelp review... But I'd recommend most of it. What stood out to me was the Awadhi lamb biryani and Chicken Ruby. Some sides we enjoyed it with were the Gunpowder potatoes and garlic naan. We had our meals with mango and rose lassi. The rose here tastes better than the mango; the mango lacks flavor. I remember being unimpressed with the okra fries; they were just alright. We also got their signature house black daal which is cooked for over 24 hours. Now I'm not a fan of daal so you can't take my opinion on this but to me this was just alright. I will say, it definitely tasted 100x better than the one I attempted making at home which failed miserably!!! PROS: Clean, trendy, delicious & fresh well-seasoned food, meat cooked perfectly, outstanding service, bottomless house chai (very tastey!) CONS: It can take a second to get your order in when it's busy. Little disappointed in mango lassi (had a better one elsewhere) Tip: 2-3 dishes per person is recommended if dining family style. Amazing Indian food served in a space with a classic Iranian cafe vibe. Vada Pav, Fried Okra and Chhole Puri are must haves for vegetarians. Would highly recommend making a reservation well in advance since the wait times are crazy. I loved the food so much that I went there thrice in a week long trip. Finally tried the famous breakfast item - bacon naan roll! It tasted like a nyc breakfast sandwich tbh, but wrapped in a freshly heated naan roll filled with chilli jam and cream cheese. While I loved the cream cheese, the jam was a bit sweet which was unexpected as the name of the dish implied a savory breakfast. The portion size was good and not too filling. Decided to try this place after a friend recommended it and boy oh boy it didn't disappoint. We arrived 30 minutes early to our reservation but was seated immediately. The waiter explained the menu in detail and left our mouths watering. We decided to try the black dhal ( it's one of Dishooms signature dishes), chicken tikka and chicken curry. We also tried the samoosas. I had the rose lassi ( which was absolutely amazing!!). The samoosas ( a portion of 3) came out hot and was absolutely delicious. They give 3 sauces with it which I wish I could bottle up and take home with me. The order came together and we shared the meal with garlic naan. We ordered 2 garlic naan for 2 people. That was sufficient for us. The chicken tikka was juicy and the flavors on point. The curry was spicy ( perfect) and they didn't skimp on the chicken at all. The black dhal was absolutely divine ..... party in my mouth kinda flavors. The dhal was too much for 2 people but it would definitely be taken home to enjoy the next day. We didn't get to try a dessert because I was "K.O" full!!!!. Next time I'm definitely going to try the dessert. All in all it was a great experience. The waiters were knowledgeable. Breakfast: The naan was really good. I had the western naan dish which was a little bit too sweet (the sauce) for me since I like my breakfast salty and expected it to be salty. The pancakes were okay. Fluffy but nothing special. The sauce was kinda unique and had a caramel taste to it. The toast with melted cheese was also delicious but again nothing really outstanding for me to go back. Chai was aromatic, sweet and yummy. read more
We were told we had to check this place out. It didn't live up to the hype to me or anyone I went with. The drinks we got were really good with a nice flavor. The food was ok. I tried the mutton and it was pretty chewy and wasn't the easiest thing to chew. Multiple people I was their with thought there need to be another level of spiciness because there wasn't any kicked too it. I can't handle spicy but I agree with them that the spice level was set low. Nothing really stood out to me to much, if I went back again I would get multiple dishes like I did at that price point. read more
My apology in advance for that this review is going to be sloppy AF. Because I don't remember the dish names.(Mostly because I let my local friends to make "executive decisions".) But I do remember I had a few kinds of curry and tandoori chicken like spicy grilled chicken. And I remember vividly that all of them were absolutely gorgeous. Chickens were juicy inside and PACKED with flavor(thanks to whatever the gorgeous spice they used). Curry was rich yet not overwhelming that I couldn't stop dipping in warm chewy Naan. They had a several craft beers and none of them were "miss". Atmosphere isn't too Indian but quite hip, young vibe to it(more like Fusion atmosphere). Our waitress was very pleasant, attentive and helpful. Location is very convenient as it's a few minutes away from King's Cross station. This is definitely a spot I need to keep in mind if I come back to London. read more

We loved starting our day with Dishoom's breakfast naans, which are baked to order. We were impressed by how flavourful and crispy they are. Other honorable mentions include the maska buns and the chais. We rate our experience 9/10. read more

Visiting UK, I had to try Indian food and Dishoom was all the rage! I absolutely loved the decor here and the overall vibes at Dishoom! They were serving everyone who was waiting in line, authentic masala chai, lemonade, and bourbon! After the hour long wait, we finally got seated and I ordered a vegan rose lassi which tasted amazing! You really don't need the dairy and I love how they have a separate vegan friendly menu. I also ordered the broccoli chili salad which was refreshing, but I definitely recommend sharing it. The bhel puri was also very authentic and not too overly sweet. My party also shared a bunch of naans and curries which everyone thought was pretty standard. Looking forward to coming here again for the experience! read more

Been to 4 different Dishoom's and I think that this is quite possibly my favorite. Say at the bar, service was efficient and fast (compared to the one in Soho), and food was excellent as always. Love the ambiance and decor here! Like every Dishoom, highly recommend making a reservation. I missed mine but since I was alone, they luckily were able to seat me at the bar. read more

Dishoom is soooooo good. You can't come to London without eating dishoom and you honestly can't go wrong ordering anything on their menu. Be sure to make reservations well in advance, but if you're not able to, they don't take reservations from 6-9ish, but be prepared to wait! (It's worth it!) read more
