They did not disappoint. Brought the truck in after explaining to them that it likely needed either a seal or two replaced, or the entire injection pump rebuilt. Over the phone they admitted that they didn't see many of these smaller diesel pickups from the eighties, but that they were confident they could source the parts required, and get everything back in order. While the two weeks it was in the shop was longer than they had originally promised, a quick call confirmed that it was because their rebuild shop (I believe in Bolingbrook) needed special parts sent from California to properly outfit the Denso pump. Air shipping them would have brought the price tag up, Bryant said. OK, no problem! Truck is back in my hands now and running like a champ, despite the freezing cold Chicago is throwing at it right now. After paying and before driving off, I asked if there was any way they could have the original seals mailed back to me (since they were still at their rebuild facility when I picked up the truck). I want to see what the failed seals looks like, if they were made of viton or not, to better guess if the pump had ever been rebuilt in the course of the truck's 205K miles, etc. I always say, if you want to own things, you gotta know what's going on inside them! Anyways, Bryant had no problem with my request (I'll update this review once the old seals come in). !!! For readers out there in search of auto repair work, please keep in mind that you have the RIGHT in the state of Illinois to ask to have any replaced parts returned to you, provided you let the mechanic know your wishes in advance of any ordering of parts !!! Ultimately, this shop was willing to do exactly what it took for me to leave with a well-running injection system, and the know-how to keep it that way. Possibly most important of all, after getting the job done they handed me a bill that was on the bottom end of the original via-phone estimate. Thanks for the quality and affordable work, guys!

The loose oil filter cover was confirmed by an excellent Jaguar dealership in Sarasota Florida. When AC's Vice President was provided this detail he become confrontational and stated that there is no way his dealership could have contributed to the problem. I wasn't asking for anything other than sharing the story, which he had no interest in hearing. This dealership has gone through several service managers and as a long term customer I wouldn't recommend AC to anyone. A Disappointed Customer

The owner, Kerry, told me a list of items that needed to be replaced, according to his fast-talk explanations and "snake-oil" salesmanship. After I ask him some pretty specific questions to weed out the B.S without offending him, I manage to slim down the list to only replacing the spark plugs and the battery. Before coming in, my battery started the bike right up --NO PROBLEMS-- so I ask him why he needs to replace it and how its related to the misfiring. He replies with some pretty silly stuff about "back-pressure" that was overly complicated and made purposely confusing. I tell him I don't need it. He insists that IT MUST be replaced otherwise the bike will continue to misfire. I disagreed. He then asks me whether I would disagree with a Doctors orders (as if he is even a little comparable). After some more B.S, he convinces me and I agree to do it. Only until later I find out the scam he has running on parts, which is why he was so persistent on replacing the battery. So I ask him for the quote and he gives me some high charge, saying other shops will charge a whole lot more. I can see he is just shooting numbers to see how much he can get off me. He then quotes $170 on labor. I am not fine with it so he reduces it to $120 after crying about his $90 hourly rate for diagnostics he performed on my bike. By the way, that's a high hourly rate for any motorcycle shop--It should be around $75. Now comes the battery scam: I tell him I will agree to his charges but would bring in the parts myself because I KNEW Amazon was selling the same battery for $55 less. He tells me that If I did that, he would have to increase his labor! WTF!? This is mind boggling! If anything, I would be reducing the work he has to do. But he says stuff about how he has to pay for rent, lights etc. C'MON!? But I think to myself; I already have the bike there and it will cost the same if I brought my own battery so what's the point. Plus I was very busy so I'm like, screw it, just do it. Later, I even got his employee to admit that they overcharge on parts which is strictly prohibited. No wonder he wanted me to replace all these things I didn't need. Two days later, after I leave him multiple messages about whether the bike is ready, he finally calls back and tells me its ready, but it would cost "5% more for credit card fees"!?!? He also tells me I have to pay an additional ~$20 for tax because "they (IL) are getting strict about it". This time he is rude and has an attitude. He also tells me that I cant afford my bike because of how I didn't want to do all the other repairs he asked me to. Then out of nowhere, he randomly starts braging the he has an Aprilia super-bike from 2004 with only 500 miles. In my head I'm wondering what the relevance is, but obviously he is just stroking his ego! I just say that's really cool so we can move on. I tell him fine but to describe exactly why the battery needed to be replaced on the receipt. He then blows up and says he doesn't do that!?! That he only writes what work was done, not why. At this point I'm fed up with his shit, so I tell him he needs to write it because I require it as the customer. He agrees after seeing my resistance. I tell him i work in downtown so ill have to pick it up 8 and he says ok. As I'm heading over that night at 8:06 PM I call him to tell him he can charge me the 5% extra cause I don't have cash. He tells me he already left and to come tomorrow. Unbelievable! Next day, I skip work and come at 11 am when they are supposed to open, EXCEPT I get there and they're closed! I had MY SISTER drive me there and had to ask to her to wait AN HOUR for "Nick" his employee to come. Seriously this place is so unprofessional it should be a crime. After I pay, Nick gives me the receipt and it says the battery was replaced because it was leaking and broken!? Karrie is NOWHERE TO BE SEEN for questioning. He made the whole thing up! And it didn't mention all that crap about why it was needed for the misfiring to go away. --- I am a busy guy and don't write that many reviews. I just had to write this one though to save others the hard ache. Oh by the way, all those thumbnail pictures are fake. And one of his phone numbers is no longer in service.

They allowed me to ship my Motorcycle tires and tubes directly to their store, a few days in advance, and kept them until I was able to bring in my bike. They expedited my tire change knowing I had no way of going anywhere with the busted rubber on my bike, even though they were very busy. Kerry also tightened up some of my other bike components, and explained how much wear and use I can expect out of them. He was also concerned for my safety and well-being, and even called me later that evening to make sure I made it home okay on my new tires. The place is a little weird to find, and its behind another shop, but if you need any help with your bike, I'd urge you to bring it into these guys, just have patience because there's only a couple of em, and they want to do a good job. Gas stations tend to find a string of things and you never escape them or their low standards of servicemanship. Gus & his family's service station is the stellar exception. He has saved me thousands of dollars through the years all the while keeping our vehicles running in top form. If something is beyond his scope of service - such as requires special tools specific to your vehicle that only a dealer has - he'll tell you. He'll also tell you about common problems, fixes or things you can ignore from the things he's encountered with the vehicle you own. Good luck getting that type of information from a dealer's shop or one of the many gas stations that can't keep a mechanic longer than 3 months. This approach allows you to make choices about how best to handle your vehicle's maintenance - fix, defer, go to the dealer, ignore, sell. As an example of his commitment to satisfied customers - the one time - out of many, many times - I questioned if something 'was completely fixed' because I heard an unusual noise after picking up the vehicle - he pulled a vehicle out of his bay, took my vehicle right back in and reinspected it on the spot - together we found that it was just a bit of rust on a brake drum which was not the repair he'd been asked to do - but he removed it anyway - without charge. Thereafter, the car ran like a top. He is not cheap, you don't want cheap when it comes to something you ride in at express way speeds, but his rates are extremely good and he is fair. His work is thorough, well done and reliable. If he does some work, there will, as it should be, be a charge. However, if it is something that takes just a few minutes, he'll often give you a pass. Unlike dealers that charge you an appointment fee and then increments of hours. Over the years I have come to trust Gus and his family through my experiences with them. If I moved but still remained in the area - I would continue to bring Gus my business. When people ask me "where do I bring my car"? I give them just one person to call, Gus and his family.
