Spent $1k on new drive shaft and slip yoke. It's too short so it's loose but they refuse tire turn my calls on doing warranty work

For those that don't know, Suburban Drive Line is known in the area and as their name states, for most anything driveline and suspension related. They are 4x4 specialists and will tell you like it is regarding any repairs that are needed for your vehicle. My Explorer was in need of the rear end to be rebuilt after 100,000 miles, as it started howling on a recent trip. I was expecting this not to be a cheap repair but with the expertise of SDL, they still made it reasonable and what I was expecting to pay. I also brought up a couple of small leaks on my transfer case and Phil's team included the repair as part of the initial quote! If you're looking for a repair shop to talk to you in unicorns in pixie dust, please get that out of your mind before you walk in the door as you will basically get a point blank description of what is wrong with your vehicle and what is needed for them to complete any service to your vehicle. Be prepared for direct and honest communication! Don't expect to get a trophy for showing up and bringing your car in for service! Thanks again Phil and team, I have a feeling the bearings in my rear end were making noise longer than I thought, as I don't recall my vehicle being as quiet as it is now for quite some time! Amazing prompt service. Previously dropped if a Nissan Xterra Off Road with ongoing bothersome vibration. Different mechanic swore he didn't feel it after charging me $3400. Honestly, left my truck with their night drop box. Got a call next morning that it will be $230 to fix. When I picked it up, the suv drove like it was on porcelain. Dropped off a second family Jeep last week and Phil (owner) explained what absolutely needed to be done, and what can wait but should be done. Went from front to back of vehicle. And without pressure sell. Picked up the Jeep and very happy when I looked under the chassis. They even cleaned my differentials, resealed my axles and did extra odds and ends other shops wouldn't touch. Also, they made my rear driveshaft look so pretty after balancing, even pained if satin black to match. If you want the best for your driveshafts, differentials, hubs, pinion angle, these are those guys! They will forever have my business, my trucks (and wife's car next). Also forgot to mention the white glove service, even with the steering wheel plastic wrap and floor mat protection to keep your ride clean. So... in conclusion, fast speedy, fair, honest shop who specializes in fixing vibrations the way you would want to fixed if you were a gear head and had all the time in the world to perfect every aspect of your checklist. Took my Jeep Gand Cherokee to a shop by my work to see how much a rear differential rebuild would cost. Shop quoted me $2k because he said I needed to replace everything. Co-worker recommended SDL, took my Jeep there and they were able to rebuild the rear diff and I saved more than half of what was quoted to me. 10/10 would recommend. read more

When your transmission goes clunk or your differential is making noise this is the place to be. Fair prices for the amount of work they do. Keep in mind this is the place to go for drive line repairs. This is what they do and do it well. Staff were friendly, after all this is probably the last place you want to be. So I went out got my oil changed and tires rotated at a place doing one of those cheap Groupon deals in Chicago, and when it was completed, they said that I needed to replace my drive shaft which was going to cost me $1,000 at the dealership. Not having a lot of money and running out of options, I called a friend who know a lot about cars and he recommended Suburban Driveline. I was a little hesitant since they were 45 minutes away, but my friend assured me they were specialists I could trust. So, I called them up and spoke with Phil Sr. who urged me to come in and let them check out my car before I doing anything. He sounded confident in his ability to at the very least confirm the diagnosis and said if anybody could fix it...It would be him. I decided to bite the bullet and towed my car there...and guess what! **There was NOTHING wrong with my Driveshaft.** The only problem was I was about to get ripped off by a shady mechanic. The only thing wrong with my car was that the idiots who did my tire rotation didn't tighten the lug nuts on my wheel....causing my wheel to wobble and the car to make a loud clanking noise. In that visit, Suburban Driveline saved me $1,000 and a ton of headaches, and were kind enough to do the diagnosis on the house. These are the type of Auto Shops that all others should be modeled after, and I would recommend them to anyone and everyone in a 200 mile radius. Strike that. 500 miles. :) read more

I have been here twice for work on my Suburban and have been very pleased with the service. I was here about 2 months back to have the transfer case rebuilt. Phil and his team are very knowledgeable and took the time to show me where my case was leaking and how/why the oil pump had rubbed a hole in the housing. They fixed that quickly and cheaper than if I had bought a rebuilt gearbox and tried to wrestle the old one in/out. I went back this week to have a locking differential installed in my Suburban. I talked with Phil 3 weeks before about my options. After making the decision on what I wanted I came back and Phil's team had everything replaced and working perfectly. I do most of the work on my vehicles myself, but there is a limit to my technical skill. I am glad that I have found a place that I can trust to take my vehicles and know they will get the same attention and care that I would give. read more

Never again will i take any of my vehicles to this place again they broke my window on my truck "ron said yea i dont know who worked on your truck" my radio "stopped" working after staying wit them for a weekend and they dont man up to Their labor warranty tried charging me 1190 because their guys dont know how to install a ring and pinion Ridiculous never again read more

Don't Waste Your Time Here. They Were Awesome In The Mid 80's Thru The 90's. Now They Are Worth S--T. Brought Them A 2009 Hummer H3T That Had Issues And They Claimed Nothing Wrong After A Test Ride. I'm A Wrench And I Knew Something Failed But Did NOT Have The Time To Investigate Nor Troubleshoot Little Own Fix. Later that Month Failed On A Number Of Codes And Issues. i had a vibration and had my driveshaft balanced at one of suburban drivelines competitors. I still had the problem and threw a lot of money in other areas trying to fix the problem. I decided to go have driveshaft checked at suburban drive line. they balanced it properly and fixed my problem right away. do yourself a favor and go to these guys right off the bat, you will save yourseld a lot of time and money. Especially if you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle this is the place to put on speed dial. Let me tell you the other car repair shops go here to finish the work they can not complete. Example: Need a rear main seal pressed into the axle? Most shops don't have the staff or the tools for this job but Phil and his crew get the job done in short order. I know this because before I went there the shop I went to told me this is where they sent their work (before the mark up, I suppose). How about CV boots that rip and tear? That's what happened to mine and they took care of everything from front to back. But wait 6 months down the road it rips out again! (It must have been a car wash track I was using... some how. I dunknow) But when I went back to Phil I was terrified cause I just didn't have the money. Credit card was maxed out. No problem! He reminded me it was warrantied for one year and did the whole job over again at his cost and didn't charge me a cent! I was overjoyed! So don't let the stark appearance of the shop, the German Shepard behind the counter or the odd driveways put you off. I took my pickup here for an assessment on what another place told me was probably a bearing noise. These guys test drove it twice (once with me so I could point out the noise to them), rose it up on the rack to take a look. They later told me that they don't believe there to be a problem, no charge. I was floored about the no-charge aspect so I later returned and brought them some White Castle burgers for the guys. Seems like an honest place to me. They easily put 30 minutes into assessing the problem and did not charge. I recommend them for axle or driveline related repairs. Hello Well I brought my C-1500 Chevy In to have a vibration Checked out/ diagnosed. They told me I needed my driveshaft rebuilt and because it was a two piece design the Balance was very critical. They claim they can build and balance drive shafts. My vibration started at 25mph and peaked at 48mph. I agreed to let them do the required work. After I got my truck back the original vibration seemed to be gone but I noticed a new vibration. Started at 50 and continued the faster I went. When I toke my truck back to them, they told me it may be something else also. So I allowed them to re inspect the vehicle. The wanted to do more repair work which I could not afford. I asked if they would just double check their work which already had been done and paid for. They said they had already done that and assured me the driveshaft was done right. I spoke with a friend, he told me of another driveline shop west of suburban. My friend helped me pull the drive shaft and we had the drive shaft rebalanced at this other shop. Wow what a difference. My truck rides like it should with no vibrations at all. Almost feels brand new. I would not go back to suburban. Victor read more
