What a great spot, super clean. Has a connecting door to a bar. I ordered the ratatouille. It was really good, homemade noodles, eggplant, yellow and green squash in a tomato based sauce. It was plated BEAUTIFULLY! Also had tiramisu, yummy.

Went to The District after work for happy hour drinks and stayed for dinner. Had a FANTASTIC server - Tareq (aka TK). His customer service and attention is why we stayed longer and had a wonderful night out on a Wed. First, we started with the Kale & Spinach artichoke dip as appetizer. I was worried the kale would overpower the flavor, but it was really good! Paired with the house red wine for only $6 on HH - and I was a happy camper! Then ordered the House Signature Dry-Aged burger. OMG! I ordered medium and received a juicy, flavorful burger topped with brie, bacon, and mushrooms (I requested no onions). I mean- wow! I chose the side salad instead of fries but my friend told me fries are also amazing. Since I work down the street, can't wait to go back and try more things! I believe they do a Monday Steak Night for $15 with a 10 ounce ribeye. I need to try that next!

The reason I'm giving this place 3 stars is because I felt like the place was dirty. Even though it looked like it was meant to be a bit higher class than other nearby restaurants, the windows were dirty and the tables and loots didn't seem clean. I really was turned off my this when I came in. We came in and were seated quickly. The server was very nice and attentive, recommending us appetizers and meals to try. I have to say the kale dip was delicious; it was creamy and the chips tastes fresh and home made and baked. I recommend trying this. The calamari was also good, but I think my coworkers were a bit turned off by the rentable, personally I loved how it tasted and it was something different. I recommend it. I wanted the panko chicken with the chipotle chicken sides. They were able to switch out the chickens to make me what I wanted. Everything was pretty good but I do have to mention to management that cleaning the windows up and floors will make your patrons feel a lot better.

    Chipotle Chicken Braised ShortRib Pasta

Beautiful place. My boyfriend got the chipotle chicken entree which was pretty good and very flavorful. I got the braised short rib pasta which was not that good. From the looks it seemed like it would be very flavorful but the taste was very very very bland. Overall, great portion sizes and customer service. Next time I would order something else.

Wish I could give this place a 3.5, because the service was great! I ordered the pancetta shrimp carbonara (with my egg friend instead of runny), it was just average. The shrimp were really good, well seasoned and grilled, but the pasta lacked flavor. I eventually gave in and added salt to the dish. (I hate sending plates back) the Brussel sprouts were delicious! I tasted the braised Mac and cheese and I would not recommend it unless you like the taste of a sloppy joe. For the dessert we had the cheesecake, bread pudding, tres leches, chocolate cake. My favorite was the chocolate cake! It was literally death by chocolate, so decadent! The rest of the table favored the cheesecake. We all agreed that the bread pudding was a travesty and should be taken off them menu ASAP. It tasted, looked and felt like a block of tofu.

Decided to eat at The District on a business trip to Houston. The restaurant is as a short walk away from The District so I walked over and grabbed a seat. Ordered a glass of Meomi Pinot Noir to pair with the Filet, medium rare, over garlic mashed potatoes. It comes with a red wine reduction sauce. I have to say that the meal was delicious. My filet was a great cut, cooked to a medium rare perfection. Seasoned nicely. Potatoes were cooked nicely, as well. Nice job by the chef, wait staff and kitchen. I actually went back the next night....ordered the same dish. Highly Recommended

This is a hard review!! Party of 6... The food has great flavor, but it came to the table like warm and a few cold. The consensus among all of us was if the food had been hotter, it would've been great! It wasn't busy at the time we arrived. Only one other table and our table. One plate came with a hair in it, they remade the dish and it was super hot (hotter than the 1st plate) and she loved it It's hard to say if I would return... btw the burger I had was delicious

Delicious food! We had: - grilled oysters (bacon jam and lemon garlic--both were great) - Berkshire marbleized pork chop (great--seasoned incredibly well). Came with truffle mashed potatoes (good) and broccolini (average) - ribeye (good, but was more rare than ordered. Would have been great as medium rare). Came with truffle mashed potatoes (good) and thick asparagus (good) The atmosphere was a little confusing. It seems like they want to be somewhat upscale and trendy, but they had big soda and iced tea dispensers in plain sight, which seemed strange.

Slice of cake. Not worth $8.66
    Nancy P.

It's okay, neat little set up downtown. I understand it is trying to be boutique like, but it lacks something. Employees always seem confused or unsure. A slice of cake is $9 bucks. It would be cheaper to order a whole cake and give the rest away. If it was something extraordinary I could see it. But just average. Cookies are $3 not bad. But the ones at Frank's Pizza are $2.50 and much better.

    Stuffed chicken breast. So delicious

We always like coming here for business lunches. They have a great outdoor patio and really fast service. Their menu is extensive - something for everybody and they just added new menu items. It's never too crowded that you can't get a table which is great. I've enjoyed everything I have gotten in the menu so far! Will be back

By "berries" the mean one strawberry.
    Lauren M.

Only got drinks and dessert here, this rating is based on the creme brûlée with "berries" than came with precisely ONE BERRY. I was expecting several "seasonal fresh berries" not just one strawberry sliced stem still on. Random.... After I wrote that review the manager, Steve, (we were still at the table) came out to apologize for the bad berry situation. He was very nice. We will be coming back to try the food!

Really enjoyed the ambiance and the style of this place. The food was Average but the decor, sophistication and the waiter will be a reason I repeat my visit. We came after a wedding on a Sunday and the place was reserved for us. The waitress and waiter that handled our party were both very nice and accommodating. And they handled our orders and cocktails will finesse. Will try this place again in my own

Can you say Oysters Galore! The District is located on Main street in Downtown Houston. They do not have valet but you can valet across the street for $11 or park in the garage and walk for $5. The atmosphere was very chic with an upbeat atmosphere. The service was amazing! I had multiple servers ask me and my friend how we were doing and made us feel so welcomed! The nose-tickling French 75 was the gate way to a perfectly integrated combination of floral gin and citrus. I would highly recommend this drink. It's strong but delicious. Food: -Grilled Oysters (5/5): Yum! I loved these. So much flavor. -Raw Oysters (5/5): Can't go wrong with raw oysters. They were fresh and delicious. Great place for drinks and oysters! Loved it here. I would highly recommend.

I mean my pocket book is probably better for it because I want to buy the whole store but honestly I've been missing out. The place is cute and welcoming from the corner sign on the building to the moment you step in- bright, inviting, great displays so you know where to go. You can't get lost in here with the signage, but you can't definitely get lost in the aisles with all the great, unique choices. The ready food display has so many Mediterranean treats, some I've had before some I've never heard of and everything I tried was amazing. We got the cabbage rolls and Armenian veggie dolmas. Great flavor, both specific items I haven't had before. Nice citrus, spiced flavor to these. I'd say they're have to try items. Not only found jarred tomato paste, which I've been on the hunt for but they had choices in this category and that's another first for me. Will have to go back and try the others. My father wanted bakery items for breakfast and settled for the usual Hostess and Hostess-like choices you'd find at, again, a convenience store. However, the gentleman behind the register was pleasant and helpful. A customer came in and while checking out casually mentioned he had a close friend die the day before in a car crash. The cashier was very sympathetic and listened to the guy without interrupting or trying to hurry him along. In all, the store has the basics. I find the service is excellent, the store is clean, the prices are average, but the inventory is always well stocked. In terms of reliability, the latter is crucial. Parking here can be a challenge. The lanes are narrow and there are only so many entrances to the lot. While folks are constantly battling for parking, the store itself is rarely ever that busy. The cart staff is good about keeping the lot relatively free of carts and are good about keeping the front area organized. I have had good experiences with their bakery and deli, especially for catering. I'm all about rocking the buttered tortillas when they're available. I love their produce selection and have been a big fan of their fresh peanut butter machines. While the cashier's are usually quick, the more popular way to go is through self-check out. The service is the most underrated aspect in my opinion. They've been supremely helpful in bringing groceries out to my vehicle for me (especially when there's a lot), they're on top of the curbside pickup, and they're excellent about helping folks find what they need. Big mistake. First off, I get that Houston was bracing for a snowstorm (crazy, I know), so I wasn't shocked that a lot of my requested items were out of stock. Fine, not their fault. But what was their fault? Not actually giving me half of the things I did manage to order! I got home, excited for my stash of groceries, only to realize I had basically made a charitable donation to HEB. No cheese. No sour cream. No coffee. NO MAPLE SYRUP. The donuts? Trash. Stale, lifeless, and the long john with "cream" filling? A cruel joke. Either it never got filled or the cream evaporated from old age. Tried calling the store--no answer. Couldn't go back because the entire city was frozen over for two days. At this point, I just accepted my fate. Maybe they were overwhelmed that day. Maybe it was just bad timing. But I won't be back to find out. Until Montrose finishes its never-ending construction, I'll be looking for another HEB--or honestly, another grocery store altogether. Buffalo Speedway, double-check your curbside orders and throw away the old donuts. You saved me some calories, at least.

Unfortunately there's only one in the city, but it's "centrally" located (get the pun?) off Westheimer and 610 near the Galleria. We frequent this grocery store a few times a month, and though the products are more expensive overall than your normal Kroger or HEB, the selection is amazing and worth the visit. Here's what I love about Central Market: the produce, salads, sandwiches, meats, seafood, wine, cereal, yogurts, bread, coffee, ice cream, spices - actually pretty much everything. Even their flowers are incredible. Now here are some pro tips; listen carefully: - if you want the real, full CM experience, go on a Saturday or Sunday. You'll feel like you're at Costco waiting in line for samples and trying to push your cart without running someone over. But if you want a quiet, peaceful experience, go on a weekday during the day. You have to work, you say? Take a few hours of vacation or personal time off and head to Central Market. It'll be better than your last few vacations. - they have an app and it's amazing! You can save 20-30% each shopping trip with their offers and coupons. Make sure you add the deals in your app before you go to check out. (This part is a little annoying.) - ice cream section: buy the Hellenika Ube coconut. Just do it. Taste it and you can thank me later. It will change your life. If you want to overpay for it, fly to Seattle and find it at Pike Place Market. - stop buying spices like peppercorn and coriander seeds in bulk that are stored in bottles and jars. Go to Central Market and just buy exactly what you need for your recipe. You'll spend 24 cents for this and 58 cents for that, etc. Not $5 for a jar of spices that will lose its flavor or expire after a year. And the big question everyone asks: Central Market or Whole Foods? Whole Foods has way more locations, but CM takes the cake. It's just amazing. Trust me.
