I've only been here for apps and martinis. The appetizers are good. My friends always order a pot roast nacho platter that is good. The martinis are exceptional. They shake them at the table and there are lots of little ice bitties and they taste very fresh and perfect. Atmosphere is dark and nice and very steak housey. But the price! Yikes. It's a little weird to bristle at the price of a place you can afford but you...won't. I just don't think ANY food is worth this kind of money unless I can see the Eiffel tower from my sidewalk seat. But that's me. I'm sure it's very good because any time I've been it's been busy. Ironic thing....here I'm bemoaning the high price of Ditka's and where do I always see his wine? They are doing some construction for their parking so we had to park all the way in the back. If I wanted the city feel with the parking situation, I would just go to a nice restaurant in the city. Parking situation is currently inconvenient. I called to make reservations for birthday. The service was very slow even though the restaurant wasn't full. The food wasn't that great. The sea bass looked sad and tasted bland. The coconut shrimp was okay. The only thing I liked was the Mexican elotes which we got as a side. We also ordered dessert which also had no taste. The sad part was they didn't do anything special for the birthday. Personally not my favorite place and not good for seafood options. This was my first time at Ditka's and I definitely enjoyed my experience. We had reservations at 7:00pm on Saturday, so I should have known it would be packed. But yeah...it was extremely loud in the restaurant. So loud to the point where we could barely hear the person directly next to us. Naturally, the restaurant management can't control that, so it's not that big of a deal. Everyone ordered steak, except me-I had the salmon! Expensive drinks. But forget that. Go for the Pot Roast Nachos. If you're going for the nachos though, a couple of tips. I highly recommend that you ask for the pot roast to be well drained. No sense in having soggy nacho chips. And in addition, I would consider asking for your nachos to be a little well done. The cheese should be a little brown. But just a little. read more

The service was fantastic. No complaints to the front of house. My reason to pay a visit(via lauding recommendations) were the steaks. Here is where the troubles began. A dry aged med-rare ribeye was cooked well internally.. but the exterior was burnt to a hellfire crisp. Any subtle nuttiness from a well aged steak was overwhelmed by the charcoal briquette-like outer crust. I had added the horseradish crust.. which was as flavorless and uneventful as a grated Pink Eraser. Perhaps it was my mistake not returning the steak back to the kitchen, but that is usually not my initial/go-to reaction. My justification was "Maybe that's how it's appreciated out here".. I'm not a fan of the location. It is conveniently located, just across from Oak Brook mall, but parking is all but non-existent. But, free valet is available. I've been at Ditkas twice before for dinner. I remember liking the food, but can't recall much else about the experience. Last weekend, we wanted to try their brunch. Our service was not friendly... Even took a while to get the table water. It wasn't very crowded either. My steak and eggs was tasty. The filets were so much better at a place like this than most "regular" breakfast joints. It took some time, but this location is up to the level of the Downtown location in regards to service and food. The ambiance is not the same as downtown, so get over it. If you want clubby, go downtown. Or look at it this way, if you want to fight the downtown traffic and pedestrians, pay a ton to park, have to walk up the stairs and down the hall to use the bathroom and then pay an attendent, well... then by all means go to Ditkas downtown. It has it's place and I love it, but this one has it's draw as well. Although the menu has some of the same signature items as downtown, it is heavier on seafood and I what I call "southwestern" flavored dishes. The portions are huge, the meat is outstanding, the seafood fresh, the deserts are too big. Decent wine list with Da Coaches brand always available. Prices are a little less than downtown and the bar is easier to navigate if you wish to eat there and be entertained by the crowd. A drink or two and two of the generous appetizers can make it a night for my wife and I. The restaurant itself can get loud later in the evening when it is crowded and on the weekends there may be entertainment to add to the clatter. Bring your friends and add to the noise level. Quiet and romantic it ain't. There is a very nice private party/meeting room available and the bathrooms are easy to get to and best of all, attendent-less! Service has improved greatly since they first opened (after one experience I swore I would not go back, but they won me back!) and it is now top notch. If you don't agree, talk to Jessica. She is the manager and she will make it right. My wife, my friends and I who count this location as one of our favorites, think that both Ditkas locations are underrated as far as the food and overall restaurant experience is concerned. Went to Mike's for dinner last night with my 80 year old mom and my brother and his girlfriend. It was a combined 50th birthday and 9th wedding anniversary... Yay! Now, about Ditka's... First of all, this is a non-smoking Mike's I believe -- at least no cigar or cigarette smoke that I smelled... Secondly, we arrived 15 minutes before our 7pm reservation, with only 3 of 5 people there, and they still seated us. Very nice! Our waitress, Maria, was very attentive, but not pushy. She was also helpful with the options. Any substitutions were gladly accommodated. She was bragging the seafood was much more of a specialty at the Oakbrook Terrace location than downtown because of the chef they have there... Drinks were downtown size -- and the Glenlivet on the rocks was oh-so-tasty! My brother's Bacardi Limon and Coke was also very good. The by-the-glass wine list is pretty deep, and nice size pours. But you can easily spend $20 for a glass of wine, so choose carefully... We tried the pot roast nachos on the advice of a friend, and I've got say, they worked. These are white suburbanite versions of the great nachos you see elsewhere. There is a sprinkling of nacho slices on top, but everything else is very un-spicy. And honestly, that works! The pot roast is very tender, and the whole thing is smothered in that generic Kraft 4 cheese nacho blend you buy at home. There was plenty to share for 4 people, too. The salads were ok. I got the arugula, which was very good (the fork was friggin' freezing!), but my mom complained that her Caesar was too big and didn't have enough dressing. I got the ribs -- and they were great. For $24, I paid too much, but it is a steakhouse, after all. I got a full rack of ribs with good smokiness, nice and dry -- not falling off the bone, but no sign of any fat or greasy bits. The whole plate was covered in fries, and there was a bowl(!) of cole slaw as well. Definitely a Grabowski-sized dinner! My wife had the filet mignon - loved it, like the garlic mashed. My brother had the pork chop. Thought it was "pretty good", but was turned off by having it served in a bowl on top of a mound of mashed spuds. It looked juicy and tender. My mom had the cashew-crusted tilapia. Loved it. She ate more of it then she usually does, too. My bro's gal-pal had the salmon, and we think she ticked off the chef by requesting a different sauce on top. She got the sauce she requested, but the chef also included a side plate with the original sauce in a small bowl so she could taste it. Overall, I liked the place. It is very LOUD, but the room is well-done, it doesn't feel too large, and there are TVs everywhere. It's definitely a man's place, so do your macho friends a favor and stop by some time. By far the BEST hospitality from valet to service. Ask for Jackie or José. They have been taking care of me for a couple years, as a regular, they are the top employees at Ditkas in Oakbrook! I love Ditka's! My family and I go here for most celebrations (birthday, anniversaries, etc). It's on the pricier side so I usually only go here because the pops is paying. But it is worth every penny! For starters we always get the pot roast nachos. Sounds bizarre, right? It's amazing. And hands down the best pot roast I've had (so glad my grandma isn't around to hear that). Prime rib, cooked medium, and nix the mushrooms is what it's all about for me. Boyfriend loves the strip steak cooked medium well. I don't judge him for liking his steak overcooked ;) Bonus, it's no charge to swap out the mushrooms for mashed potatoes. read more

Given the location, I expected Ditkas to be overpriced, under portioned and a poor value experience, similar to my opinion of places like Morton's and Capital Grill. I was wrong. The ambience is upscale and the room lively. The wine menu is deep with many price points. The menu has some great choices to meet a variety of tastes. The prices are great for all that you get, which is a fine dining experience at a great location, with an excellent and well informed waitstaff. I had the prime rib and others at the table had linguine with clams and chicken. All well prepared and presented. With a bottle of wine, two mixed drinks and four entrees the bill was $182, which I consider reasonable, all things considered. read more

I love Da Coach and am a die hard Bears fan, so was really excited to finally try one of Ditka's restaurants. It pains me to say this was just a terrible experience altogether. The pros: Bears memorabilia all over the place, love it! The cons: I came in earlier then my 'party of 3' and was sat at a tiny booth that really should only accommodate 2 people, not 3 large men. All the other small booths had just 2 people in them, but I didn't get a chance to see how funny it was going to look with all 3 of us sitting there because I left this place before they arrived. Here's why: - When my server finally came to take my order, I guess he was surprised I was 33 and not over 60 like the rest of the place so obviously didn't listen to the drink order and brought me a whiskey and water instead of ginger - no harm done really but when it took 10 minutes for him to come back and check on me... just so I could let him know the drink was wrong, he looked at me like I ordered wrong... didn't say sorry, just sneered and took the drink away. - I was starving so I ordered an app before the rest of my party arrived, it was terrible. I eat sushi all the time and was excited to try Ditka's take on a tuna roll tempura. What a mess, this app doesn't know if its sushi, seared tuna, or tempura.. When he finally came back and asked how it was, I said, you know, its really not that good. I told him it was fishy and he asked if I wanted something else but didn't offer any apologies. I didn't feel this dish was fresh, it tasted bad, and the fish was warm and mushy... So i pushed it aside.. something I have done like 3 times in my life. Someone dropped bread off at my table which was a nice touch but failed to bring butter, spread or anything else to put on the dry bread.. Not sure if this is normal here but if it is, come on, really?!!!?! The guy was sweating balls but I didn't see him servings anyone but me as there seemed to be almost a 1 server to 1 table thing going on ( it was only 5pm so not quite busy yet ). I am NOT basing this review on the guy being overweight or sweaty, but do have to mention that its not very appetizing to have someone like this serve you food. So... after 2 sips off my replacement drink, I just wasn't feeling this place. I called my friends that were in route and said I am bailing now before this gets worse. I stood up and casually walked right out of there, to nar return! I have literally never done this in my life and felt bad for half a sec, but then realized - even Da Coach himself would have benched this place! We went for my sons 12th birthday. They treated him very well including a Ditka miniature football as a parting gift. It's a typical steak place. Good steaks and 'Da pork chop' was very tasty. As with most steak places the entrees are served a la carte. Plan on a minimum of $50 per person without drinks or desert. Decent wine list including a surprising by the glass selection. I did send a glass back as it tasted like it was left open for a couple of days. They opened a new bottle without question. The deserts are huge so plan to share! Personally I'm not a fan of spending this amount for food that I can cook at home just as well. As this was a birthday request I was glad to go and the family had a nice time. Would I go back? The bar looked very nice. Maybe I'd try that next time. After all, good steak places are a dime a dozen in Chicago! read more

This is the first time my family has tried this restaurant though we've wanted to for a long time. The service was very good, no complaints. The food was pricey but We expected it would live up to those prices, but it certainly did not. The prime rib was tough, not tender. The rib eye my son had was tough also and personally I've never had anything but a tender delicious rib eye. My hubby's plank salmon was average though he didlike the quinoa. The side dishes of sweet potatoes and creamed spinach were good. Still, one shouldn't spend over $100 on just the food and be this disappointed, ever. We didn't complain, we just decided we'd never go back. We eat out and try new restaurants all the time and share are likes and dislikes with friends and family, as well as leaving a review when needed. I feel this will be a big loss for them in the long run. read more

I wanted to go somewhere that we had never been in celebration of our first year anniversary.....Ditka's did not disappoint. From start to finish we were treated wonderfully without it seeming forced or fake. Their staff knows exactly what customer service means. From the valet to our waitress....excellent service. We started with a flight of sides instead of a traditional appetizer. We chose the mashed sweet potatoes which were absolutely amazing, jalapeño hash browns and our absolute favorite.....lobster mac & cheese. WOW!!!!! My boyfriend ordered "The Fridge" burger cooked to perfection with the most awesome freshly made bun. I ordered the Seafood Diavolo which came with two HUGE shrimp and many chunks of lump crab served over linguine. It was truly amazing. When placing my reservation they asked if they could help us celebrate anything special. After our dinner out came this complimentary awesome chocolate dessert that was extremely decadent. Our entire experience, service, ambiance, food was truly a good one. If I have one complaint it was that the soda was not refilled for free. Didn't realize that until our bill came but I was not going to complain in light of everything else being so great. read more

This place is A-OK. I went with a large group on a Saturday of course some of the group was late so i stood by the bar. The service at the bar was quick and friendly and the pour on the hard stuff was generous. The back area is a little loud with party rooms behind hidden walls. The staff and waiters were extremely efficient. The bread which comes with the meal was all right but it seems the staff holds out on the amount given. I ordered the french onion soup which was loaded with cheese but quite salty. The kick ass paddle steak (bone in rib eye) was delicious with a charred outside and juices bursting out each cut. I would not order any of the extras like crusting for this steak because it was just that damn good. The crab-cakes were tasty but the rice was very ORDINARY. The scallops were well seared but dainty in size. The slider i was told were juicy and tasty. Parking underground parking will have you ladies with heels walking a bit try about 2 city block. Washroom. Little RATCHET at the 10 pm hour but the actual facility were made for a king seat covers and 2 ply all the way. Great place for a family outing or a date. Came here on a business lunch since it was located in the office lobby. I cant really say anything super good or bad about this place. I had the salmon which came with an Asian sauce on a bed of stir-fried veggies and some sticky rice. I thought it was perfectly good although possibly a bit overcooked. This is your typical modern american restaurant with the dishes you'd expect for the most part. It is a bit on the pricey side, probably to take advantage of business folks in the building expensing their meals. If you work in this building or coming here on business, give it a shot why not. If you dont, I wouldn't recommend wasting time. read more

This is a nice place to chill and relax and enjoy a good meal. The service and wait staff is great. Always nice and polite. The meal was good. I had the "Fullback" and the wife had the Paddle steak. I really wasn't impressed with mine that much but the wife's steak was great. I'll have to get my own next time. We started our meal off with nachos. Very busy today for Mothers Day tomorrow. Had valet parking, seated immediately, and water poured and waitress arrived within a minute. Drinks were proffered and accepted and served quickly. Server was very friendly. Orders came out together. Chopped salad was OK. Wildfire has better. I had linguine with white clam sauce. The clams were plentiful and good. A little Friday night out with a big group to celebrate a birthday. We had 630pm reservations and arrived late and the staff was very accommodating and sat us right away. Overall the service was spectacular! Appetizers of calamari and chips and guacamole were right on target. Perfect! The calamari wAs perfectly salted and the pomegranates were are interesting touch to the guac. I ordered the 8oz filet with a blue cheese crust and it was cooked to perfection. Not a single complaint. Others had ribs, pork chops, filet sliders, crab cakes and spaghetti. Everything was perfect with the exception of a few people saying the pork chops were dry. The sides were a bit bland as well. Everyone enjoyed their meals...we are going with 4 stars because of dry sides and the temperature of the restaurant being so hot it was uncomfortable to the point where we opted out of dessert to get cool air. Was really looking forward to this experience. A bit pricey, but has variety. I had the halfback filet 8.0oz and sweetheart had the Kick Ass Paddle steak (signature). My filet was just ok--in actually preferred the taste of the paddle steak it seemed to be seasoned and flavorful. Twice baked potatoes and Mac-n-cheese were good. Very nice atmosphere and ambience. I LOVE Ditka's. I've been a huge fan for a long time. I actually just had my birthday dinner at the downtown location last month. But what happened between yesterday and today blew my mind - I don't think I've ever written a review before, but this I had to share. Yesterday my mom and I met at the Oak Brook location for lunch. The meal was fabulous and our service was excellent as usual. I even ordered a bleu cheese burger to go for my boyfriend because he's obsessed with it. About three hours later I realized that I forgot a red winter headband in our booth. I called to see if it had turned up and talked to a girl named Shane who was super nice, took down my information and promised to call if she saw it anywhere. I figured what the heck, I'll never see it again - it's not like it was very expensive or anything, but it was a Christmas present from my aunt and I felt bad for losing it. Then tonight, I get a call from Shane, the same girl I talked to yesterday. She found my headband! And she took the time to call me! I also talked to the manager, who took down my address and They. Are. Sending. It. To. My. Doorstep. I'm an MBA student at Loyola and day one of business school you learn about differentiating yourself by providing excellent customer service. This is a perfect example. This easily could have been blown off (it's not like I lost a diamond ring) but it wasn't. And for that I am very grateful and extremely impressed. I really liked this place. Unfortunately, I was meeting family and was an hour late, so by the time i got there they were already on dessert so i did not get to order a main entre. However, i did get soup and a salad. i got french onion soup and it was amazing. i loved it. also i had a caesar salad. i was not fond of the dressing. it tasted weird, more sour than anything. like it was made with mayonnaise which i hate so i was dissapointed. for dessert i had the peanut butter pie and it was definately the best i have ever had. i will for sure get it the next time i go. as for the service, it was above average. our waiter was very attentive, but not overly, polite, and i was very pleased. overall i cant wait to eat here again, and come on time. i would i am excited to try a main course. read more

Came here at lunch and for a Monday the place was fairly busy at about 3/4 full, and from what I could tell comprised of at least 75% businessmen, or those who front as such. Decent atmosphere and I found it funny that, even though it's a "Ditka's", the place was decked out almost exclusively in his gear, from the pics to the uni's, to trophy's and the whatnot, it's strictly Ditka here and just seemed a little ott on the narcissistic front. Had my sights on the burger as I'd heard good things about it. Chose the Ditka Steakburger (name?) which was a 1/2 lb black Angus w. grilled onions, sauteed mushrooms and Ditka sauce which tasted exactly like AI...oh, and two slices of cheese (a bit much imo) The burger: it was good, not great. It was a perfectly cylindrical and seemed to have either been frozen (i can't imagine) or at the very least not hand formed, which if i'm paying 10$ + for a burger, it needs to be hand crafted from beginning to end...see J. Alex for how it's truly done: ground fresh *daily*, hand formed, etc. etc. I ordered it Med and it was more towards Med Well but still tasted pretty good. Again, it was nothing standout and I could safely say it's a mid-range to a bit above average. Accompanied by their sea salt seasoned french fries which were a little too sodium inducing but not overly so. Final note, ordered a pop which rang in at 3$ which I find unconscionable really. Srsly, you can order a sandwich for that much, but I shouldn't be drinking pop anyallways so that's that. read more

I honestly don't get the appeal to this place. I went here a few months back and the food was mediocre and overpriced. My steak tasted like something I could have bought at Costco but costed three times as much. My brother had the prime rib and it was tough and tasteless. The waiter didn't seem too invested in us either. I think he wrote us off when he saw all the tattoos my brother and husband had because he was much more focused on his other tables then on us. He probably assumed we wouldn't tip that much and after the dinner and service we had, we really didn't. For the record, we usual tip very well, when the service deserves it! Ditka's didn't.
