I took my Mom & Sister out for their birthday. My mom had the crab cakes which she didn't like at all. She said they had no flavor "very bland" was her exact words. My sister had the homemade meatballs which I tasted and thought they had no substance I would prefer to taste more meat in a meatball not the ingredients that were mixed w/the meat. I had the pasta w/the pancetta and it was not what I expected didn't taste like it had pancetta in it at all because it lacked flavor and I couldn't even find any pancetta pieces in there. Ditka's is the ONLY dine-in restaurant that I've ever been to that doesn't serve you fresh bread before your entree. The bread cost &5 and it doesn't taste fresh at all. I won't be dining here anymore. BTW...the server didn't mention her name and she wasn't very attentive. She only came to our table twice and the restaurant wasn't even busy.I had to remind her to bring the bread to the table. We arrived Saturday afternoon around 2:00 place was buzzing, had a reservation. Seated right away of course by only baby in the place. So my family decides to have brunch Sunday morning. I called in advance to make sure we don't need reservations in the front desk says no issue. We get at restaurant and the blonde receptionist seats is behind the main seating area, away from where everyone else is sitting, where my family is alone surrounded by vacant tables! Yes, we are all nicely dressed....My wife requested why we couldn't be seated where everyone else is sitting near the bar area, and that blond lady makes an excuse that well there's a bar there and you have children. So we sit down but later someone else allows us to sit near the bar area where the rest of the customers are. There are clearly other customers who have children(who are Caucasian) ... all I have to say is this felt incredibly awkward and racist. The food was great, the waiters were great as well as our server, but that gal up front could sure benefit from some cultural sensitivity training. We received a gift card as a present. Made a reservation for 430. When we got there the hostess tried to seat us in the very loud bar. He told the hostess we made a reservation and didn't want to sit there. She was very rude and said he didn't specify in the reservation where we wanted to sit. What? She moved us to one of the many open booths in the dining room. The server was exceptional. She explained the menu and gave suggestions. I ordered the chicken parm and my husband the baked Cod. He wanted to substitute a baked potato for rice but it would have been a 6 dollar upcharge, so we passed. The food was horrible. The chicken parm was clearly frozen breaded chicken and the sauce on the pasta was dark red and horrible. A canned tomato taste. Reminded me of the pasta sauce that comes in cans. The Cod had no flavor and the rice completely flavorless. I complained about the red sauce and the server took it off the bill. She said they were taking it off the menu soon. I've been wanting to try this place for quite a while. I met a friend of mine here after work last Friday. Our reservation was at 5:45, and it was pretty empty, by the time we left the place was jammed, so my advice is to make a reservation in advance. We had super speedy service...my friend is also doing the whole 30 diet so she couldn't partake in the pot roast nachos I've been wanting to try there so... I decided to make them my meal! When we left practically every table in the place had pot roast nachos so clearly those are a must order at this place!!! We both ordered the spicy peach margarita, ok...we both had two, they were delicious!!!! I don't think I'd drink more than that, but they were REALLY good. If the place is crowded, this place can get a little jammed, but they do have valet. I'd definitely recommend this place & recommend coming back here!!! read more

I enjoyed our brunch there on Jan 1, 2017. We didn't have to valet probably b/c it was bruch but i was happy- I don't like randoms driving my car. We had a reservation at 10 am for 6 adults and 4 kids- it is a child friendly restaurant but upscale so if you choose to take children be mindful of those around you. 4 of the adults ordered the Bloody Mike which comes w/ a shrimp, pickle, tomato, onion, olive skewer and a side car of beer- they enjoyed it although the shrimp was tough Our server was a sweetheart I think she said it was her first time working the day shift- she nailed it. I enjoyed my Mexican omelet w/ rye toast and fruit. Three people enjoyed their pot roast hash w/ choice of eggs. Someone had their blueberry pancakes- they looked amazing. We went for my mom's birthday during quarantine. All staff members had masks and they had the Ditka's logo so it seems like the restaurant provided them to employees so A+ just from that. I think my Dad put it was someone's birthday on the reservation so we got a round of 5 half flutes of champagne and 1 non-alcoholic sparkling juice for my underage brother. The service was fantastic. Pot roast nachos are a MUST when you come here. They're so good. We got calamari which was good as well. For my meal I got the smaller of the two filets (don't remember the size) with the roasted garlic crust. Delicious! We split a bunch of sides and I had seen the jalapeno hashbrown online and was super excited to try. It did not disappoint. Some of my family got the surf and turf (filet topped with a crab cake), another member got the filet and then someone got a pork chop. Everyone's food was presented so nicely and it was good. For sides we also had brussel sprouts (crispy outside but soft inside which is exactly how I like it), lobster mac & cheese (I don't eat lobster but the family enjoyed), and the corn elote which had a kick that I did not expect but enjoyed. read more

At first I didn't think it would be this good, but as soon as I stepped in my hunger immediately grew. My family and I got the bread and nachos for an appetizer, the bread was so good it was warm and salty, and with the rosemary on top it was perfect. The nachos were also amazing, the meat had the slightest barbecue taste. For my entree, I got the coconut shrimp. This was super good. The coconut was not too powerful but just right. And they were also salty and the perfect crunch. It came with a great sauce, the basil infused oil mixed well with the sweet sauce. It went very well with the shrimp. Another member of our party got a fillet cooked medium rare, and it was like butter. I also sampled a meatball and it was moist and well seasoned. Not sure why FOX news was on just about every single TV In the bar area but because it was, it ruined my experience . I DO NOT expect CNN, or MSNBC.. I expect sports.. I left and refused to order dinner while that hate filled channel filled the room. I am done with you Ditkas.. DONE. I was not alone in my feeling in this, spoke to 2 other couples who were just as offended as I was. One hopes to escape the news while out spending hard earned money on a nice dinner and some drinks. A group of us celebrated Thanksgiving dinner at Ditka's Restaurant, and - wow - were we pleased with the results! The location is very convenient, just west of the Oakbrook Terrace mall. They have a large parking lot, with a portion underground, which also offers valet service. When you walk in, they have a nice big waiting area with plenty of seating. The dining room is well lit (I've found many upscale restaurants - particularly those featuring steaks - are very always too dark), with nice modern styling and comfortable seating. Everything is meticulously cleaned and decorated, to give it an atmosphere that is neither too casual or too pompous - it doesn't look like a sports memorabilia store exploded on the walls, as some other athletes' establishments tend to; but you also don't fear reprimand for not following strict Victorian table etiquette or enjoying yourself too much. The Ditka's Oakbrook staff are all courteous and alert, as one would expect from an upscale restaurant. Our servers was able to answer all of our questions, made some great suggestions, and made sure that our table was clear of empty plates while also keeping our glasses full. Their attitude matched the balance of casual and upscale of the restaurant - attentive of all the diners needs, while not being too formal to have fun conversing with us. Each course was served quickly, and was incredible! We enjoyed one of the best plates of calamari I've had in years - crispy breading, tender meat, and savory sauces. The soups and salads were all excellent, and tasted very fresh. When our main courses came out, we were all wowed at both the presentation and the incredible portions. Three of us partook in their Thanksgiving Feast; it featured a mountain of succulent carved turkey, savory herb stuffing, creamy fresh mashed potatoes with gravy, buttery sweet potatoes that weren't overly sweetened, and delicious carrots and green beans that were tender but still had a satisfying snap to it. Another of our group had the crab cakes, at the recommendation of our server, which she enjoyed very much. Every morsel of our dinners were cooked and prepared to perfection. For the price, the portions were VERY generous, as well. At the end of the meal, we also got to pick from a bounty of delectable desserts. Everyone else were too full to eat theirs, and opted to take them home, but I was able to eat part of my pumpkin cheesecake - very delicious, but not too sweet. We were all very pleased at how our Thanksgiving dinner had turned out. From start to finish, the crew at Ditka's took great care of us. The food and service were excellent, and the portions were quite generous. We felt they went above-and-beyond what we expected for the very reasonable price, relative to other similar upscale restaurants in the area. We had a delicious meal and great experience at Ditka's last night to celebrate my husband's birthday. It was his choosing (silly sports nut that he is), and since we don't usually frequent steakhouses, we were both really looking forward to this! I made reservations about a week ahead of time, for 7:00 p.m. on a Saturday. I had no problem doing so via OpenTable. When we arrived, as others mentioned, the parking lot is kind of screwy with three valet guys hanging out up front. Personally, I think valet is a huge waste of money in the suburbs where parking lots dominate. When we walked into the restaurant we were seated immediately. Our waitress was great. She gave us recommendations when asked, but she wasn't overbearing at all. Here's a run down of the ridiculous amount of food we ordered: Drinks - La Paloma: I saw San Pellegrino Grapefruit and tequila in the ingredients, which screamed "summer!" to me. Absolutely refreshing and well made drink. I also tried my husband's Mike's Ale. It had a great flavor, but wasn't quite cold enough. Appetizer - Pot Roast Nachos: Aside from my steak, this was my favorite part of our meal! I usually avoid messy foods, but these were delicious. The pot roast was very tender, and the jalapenos weren't overwhelming at all. Soup - Sherry Lobster Bisque: Considering all of the food we had, soup and/or salad are completely unnecessary, but I'm a sucker for lobster bisque. It was the best I've had so far. I also had a few bites of the Mike's salad: crisp and fresh with lots of goat cheese, cranberries and pecans. Entrée - Half Back (8 oz) Filet Mignon: I added the Horseradish crust, which definitely had a spicy zip to it! I loved this and think my steak would have missed something without it. My steak was tender and cooked perfectly (in my book, that's medium well). It wasn't overdone, charred at all, and most important: it didn't bleed all over my plate. I'm not a big steak person, and I struggled with the last few bites! My husband said his prime rib was really good too. Sides - Lobster Mac & Cheese and Loaded Baked Potato: The two of us split these sides and ended up taking most of it home. Both sides are massive portions, which can be shared by 2-3, maybe even 4 people. I'd only give the sides 3 stars though - they were okay and you aren't missing much by not ordering them. The Lobster Mac is way, way, way overpriced, even for a steakhouse. $16 for a side dish portion is ridiculous! I can't complain about the prices otherwise. I found it to be fair and on par with other steakhouses. Cocktails are in the $10 range and steaks in the $30 range. The ambience left a little bit to be desired. There are these giant windows that let in tons of light, but you get the view of a building lobby. It felt like sitting in a hotel restaurant. The bar actually appeared more relaxed and classy than the dining area. I thought the rack of t-shirts for sale in the lobby was super tacky too. There were a couple of bums in here wearing baseball caps and sweat pants. I don't think there's a dress code here, but you're not REALLY at a Bears game, so don't dress like it! It's a steakhouse: dress smart. I would definitely come back to Ditka's for a special occasion or recommend it to anyone wanting a good steak. read more

My coworkers and I were treated to dinner here tonight by my boss, to celebrate numerous occasions. My general thought on this place is that they are trying really hard to be upscale but they just fall short. The server was kind of half-assed, not really into it. Each time food was brought out it was like musical chairs, plates set down in front of us only to be moved to the correct person. Flatware and glasses that should have been removed were left behind, etc. Proper etiquette is key when a place is trying to pull off what Ditkas is trying to achieve. They just didn't make the cut. The food was okay. I had the chicken parmesan. The portion was way too big but the flavor was okay. Nothing to write home about. We shared a couple of bottles of the Ditka's Pino Nior...good taste but again, nothing special. For desert I had the flourless chocolate cake, again, just meh. I am not really familiar with the area so I dont know if there are better choices for "nice" restaurants..but if there are I would maybe consider those before Ditkas. read more

I passed this place like a gazillion times before I made my big entrance. I heard so many negative things about it so I never suggested it and no one ever suggested it to me....we pretty much kept this place in the dark and avoided it. I met up with a friend (who comes here quiet a bit) who I hardly ever see, she picked this place and thought ok finally someone wants to come here. so here I am! The service was great (I mean they are very persistent and kept making sure we are good which became annoying and that is why I gave them only 4 stars). This place would be on the high class list, where all the business discussion happen. All I saw was older crowd in business suits. Anyways, the menu had enough to choose from, I am a light eater I usually just go directly to the appetizers because I never EVER finish my meals. We ordered a Nacho to share, boy that's a huge Nachos for an appetizer lol. I also ordered the Filet Mignon Sliders....let's just say I prefer to eat my steaks with a knife and a fork, not between buns. It was hard to bite and it wasn't very satisfying. If you're gonna order a slider, get the cheeseburger!!!!!!!!!! Then we moved on to the dessert, none of us wanted it but she's like you have to try one here. This is my brothers favorite place to go for "special" meals. The food is always good. I had a burger and fries, simple but delicious. Too delicious actually, while I took my niece to the bathroom to change her diaper my brother finished my burger and almost all of my fries. His response to my incredulous look "What? It was good". The service seems to be better every time. We had a big-ish party, 5 adults and 2 little ones. The server and busser both took time to talk to my nephew when he said something to them. That is going above and beyond in my book since you normally can't understand what the little guy is saying. Part of me wishes they were easier to get to from Oak Brook Center, since then I could combine a meal with shopping easier. But the other part of me knows that would mean they'd be busier. read more

Great service. Great ambiance. Mediocre food. My experience at Ditka's left me smack dab in the middle of the road. It wasn't bad, but nothing about the experience led me to believe that the food and restaurant was exceptional. My brother made a reservation for a party of 10 to celebrate my new Godson's baptism. Naturally, we were in the mood to celebrate - and chow down. The drinks were phenomenal. I was pleased to see a cucumber martini on the menu. ((I LOVE Effen cucumber vodka)). The bf had some sort of bourbon drink as well that was quite tasty. Not to mention, those puppies were strong. As for the food, like I mentioned it was a mixed bag. Some of the menu items such as the pot roast nachos, Mike's salad ((with goat cheese, apples, pecans, cranberries)), or the filet mignon sliders are amazing. Especially those pot roast nachos. If I hadn't been watching my calories, I would have chowed on a whole platter myself as my dinner. As I extremely limit my meat intake, I was happy to see there were plenty of vegetarian dishes, or at least those that could be easily manipulated into one. I opted for the angel hair pasta with sweet basil, white wine, and plum tomatoes. It was good and garlicky - just how I like it. The portion was huge. In fact, I had left overs for 3 more meals. Since Ditka's menu only offers a couple pasta dishes, I was bummed the pasta wasn't homemade. The steaks were the biggest disappointment. For those who ordered them, no one really raved. They were good, but not exceptional - especially for the price. The waiter did mention that Ditka's was in the process of transitioning their menu items and starting to work with a local farmers for their meat. ((YAY!!)) Desserts were bomb. Seriously. If you're counting calories, skip out on the extra appetizer, fries, or sides so you can have a few bites of their decadent desserts. The banana cream pie cake, raspberry cheesecake, and mango sorbet are beyond ridiculous. Since I was already on carb overload for the evening, I only had a couple bites. It took all I had in me to not chow down on each dessert plate. Service was great. Our waiter was attentive, happy to split checks, and answered all of our questions about the menu. He was willing to bring us whatever we needed. Since it was also my mom's birthday, he was happy to comp us a flour-less chocolate cake for her - equipped with a candle and all. Overall, I wish I could give a 3.5 star rating. Ditka's didn't quite leave me with that "Yay I'm a fan!" feeling, but they definitely won me over with their customer service and some of their dishes. Would I return? Sure - they have some killer specialities I would have no problem chowin' down on again. Though Da Coach has been recently under the weather, we were hopeful that the food tonight would not take a turn for the worse, as well. Luckily, all was right in Ditka's world tonight. A spur of the moment "meet for dinner" is the perfect thing to cap off a long day and this spot works well for business or pleasure; especially with above average wine selections, great food, and your 1st choice sitting across from you at the table. The surroundings aren't half bad either; very warm with a touch of Ditka elegance. We scored a nice table and went first (but not ten) for the drinks. They make an unreal dirty martini here; the kind where that "warm factor" hits with a lot less intensity than someone on special teams. I totally loved my asparagus salad and my guy ordered Mike's nachos, flavored like the pot roast your grandmother used to make. They are what I call the arm chair comfort food of the entire menu. At the 50 yard point, we were ready for main courses; the petit filet was perfectly cooked and came with roasted reds with a cayenne seasoning and grilled veggies. He went with da stuffed pork chops, a staple at Iron Mike's, and I totally understand why. It's that spicy apple chutney they serve with it. He really enjoyed it. Ditka's is a spot where you can just have appetizers and dessert. We split the apple tart with warm cinnamon ice cream which was a complete touch down. I was guarding my portion with my life. For an extra 2 points, the coffee was amazing. Make no mistake, the score board is heavy in terms of cost, but when the food and experience is exceptional you pretty much can look the other way. I took my dad here for his Bday. The food was absolutely to die for, but it took me a while to get to writing a review, which means i wasn't TOO excited about it. I guess ill start with the positives: I had "da pork chop" it was perfectly cooked, glazed with something BBQish and delightful and paired with mashed sweet potatoes (a personal fave) Dad had the Lamb, which he said was excellent as well. They also print out the menus everyday and printed his special saying "Happy Birthday" on the top. A cute touch! He also was surprised with a chocolate molten cake with a candle on top. No stupid singing waiters delivering it, so that was VERY good! The Negatives: We had 7:30 reservations on a WEDNESDAY and weren't seated until after 8... Whats the point of making reservations if you have to wait that long. I might of well just walked in. It also was VERY loud. So loud that you couldn't hear the waitress talking if she was on the other side of the table from you. It kind of ruins special events like this was when you cant really have a conversation. I would say that dinners will average $40 a person but with large portions for the most part. A nice place, but maybe just not a place to go at prime time. read more

The back room we were in was a bit loud so we asked if we could move to the front of the restaurant to a booth table and the said sure we have a spot open. Are drinks we really good. I work in the same plaza as Ditka's so I have been here quite a few times since I started. The food is a bit expensive but pretty delicious. The onion soup is a great way to start. I recommend the seafood salad if you are into that. It's huge, but there's a good ratio of meat and greens. I also enjoyed the shrimp bowl. We just watched Wimbledon on the tele at the bar and Jacqueline served us. 1. She was amazing - I am a picky eater and she got my order to me perfectly. 2. Well this was a very nice restaurant, great food although the price was very extreme!! I brought my Mom here for Mother's Day for their Mother's Day brunch. It was $44 a person for JUST the brunch, no comp champagne or any drinks- even coke or iced tea!? To bring my Mother there was kinda a waste because she doesn't eat much at all! I would like to come back here on a regular night and order off the menu, which I don't think was an option today?? Our waitress never asked if we needed refills on drinks, rarely ever showed her face again. The bus boys came and took our dirty plates right away, which was nice. But they expect a tip for this?? $127 for a lunch buffet w/tip!!? So all in all I think it was a huge waste of money but it was Mother's Day so who knows?? read more
