The food was mundane. The service was inattentive and lackluster. This is not the Ditto's of even the recent past.

For about 30 years Ditto's has been a reliable go-to dining spot for family, friends and even business lunches. It all ended this afternoon. The manager's unprofessional attitude is the reason. The first encounter we had at Ditto's today was with a rookie server. Having worked in food service, our hearts are always with restaurant staff, especially newbies. She did her best and I root for her success. The food was usual Ditto's fare...predictably good. One of our party asked for the "Tomato Garlic Bowtie Pasta Broccoli (Gluten-Free)". Listed on their website at $20 to include Tomato, green onion, parmesan, roasted garlic sauce, white rice, choice of grilled chicken. Comes with a citrus salad. (Half $16). https://dittosgrill.com/menu/gluten-free/ The charge on our bill was for 22.00 plus 7.00 for a citrus salad which was supposedly included. The new server was confused. So she offered to summon the manager. The manager arrived and as we explained the discrepancy and pointed to his restaurants website, he countered that he wasn't sure that was really the actual website. I offered to google it again for him, but he went on a milquetoast rant about people on the internet spoofing menus(?). He told us that the electronic menu ordering system tolled 22.00 plus a 7.00 citrus salad. He then went and found another print version of the gluten free menu which had the dish at 19.00. He told us that there was an up charge to replace the bow tie pasta with rice to make the dish GF, which wasn't listed online or in print. He was defensive, unwilling to take any accountability for the inconsistencies at Ditto's, unwilling to admit to the need to align his website, print menu and electronic ordering system for consistency and unwilling to admit that we, the patrons, might just be right this time. He was in this interaction, what a restaurant manager shouldn't be. His unprofessional presence lent a bilious end to the visit and a resolution by our party to end our 30 years of patronage at this establishment. Think wisely about your engagement with the management staff and make sure to ask for all the menus when you arrive, there are quite a few, and the prices vary. read more

After a long day of Thelma and Louise takes the Ville we were famished. We first tried a few other places and were told it would be a long wait so we stumbled upon Ditto's after driving to the highlands. Louise had been there once before but I'd never been so in we went. The host cleaned our table and seated us. We were then greeted by our waitress with a smile. She asked us for our drink order handed a paper menu and asked us if we had any questions. She gave us a while to look over the menu and came back. The grilling began, I don't think she knew what she got herself into waiting on us but she made it through. So we started with cocktails, we ended up deciding on a very delicious pomegranate margarita. This wasn't your typical margarita, this had heart to it. Some one knows what they are doing here. So then to the dinner. This is where I could only give the 3 stars. So I ordered the blackened chicken alfredo and the citrus salad. The salad actually blew my socks off. However the Alfredo was a whole other subject. So the Parmesan on top was from the can I have in my fridge. This actually tasted as though it was straight out of a bag in the frozen section at Walmart. I'm sorry but this was ver disappointing. I have not been here for a while and we met up last night for a Mothers Day dinner. Drinks and food were excellent. Large portions. I had the crab cakes with creamed spinach. It wasn't the best creamed spinach I ever had but it was really good. The crab cakes were flavorful. The drinks were really good too. There were 12 of us and they had no issue accommodating us and the service was on point. She was very patient. We ended the night with a round of shots which the manager had to kind of create because they didn't have the ingredients for what we wanted. Really good. read more

I had an interview here about 2 months ago so i got there 10 minutes early and looked around it was my first time there [[HIGHLIGHT]]the place looked empty with 10 dirty tables needing to be bussed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A bald headed manger comes up to me after 5 minutes and says and what are you waiting for. (nice greeting ) I said i'm here for an interview ."Well you're just gonna have to wait" ,and nice to meet you to sir. (Joe Torres) interviews me for about 45 minutes. Going on and on about the great job he does there and his standards which is all basic serving 101. The last 5 minutes of the interview he tells me flat out that i lied on my resume. I laughed out loud because I thought he was joking. He then repeated it two more times .What a clown you are!!!! I have references, you could have called any of them and done the some research you lazy piece of trash. You think I would lie on my resume to work at Ditto's!!!!! It had been many, many moons since last eating at Ditto;s and it was just as good as I recall! Tucked away but also on the main drag off Bardstown Rd., this is a great location. Once inside the place opens up Into a large dining room and bar. It's a good place to watch a game. The menu is varied with American classics. I've always loved the chicken wings. There's a ton of options for all tastes, including vegans. Lots of booze here, a full bar. There's also some fun night life in the area for a nightcap after dinner. I tend to drive by and not always stop but now that they're back on my radar I'll be in more often. You'll always get a good meal here. read more

New favorite place for outdoor patio happy hour. They have a great deal for happy hour until 6pm. You'll be able to get 1/2 off drinks or apps! Any alcoholic beverage you may want to try is half off, which is one of the best deals in the city. We sat outside on their covered patio and had good service to get our drinks in before happy hour closed. I got two signature drinks for the half price deal: a margarita and a mojito. The Margarita was their signature Pomegranate Agave Margarita. It was sweet with pomegranate seeds, agave syrup, lime, tequila, plus don't forget the sugar rim. The mojito was more my kinda drink, as I'm not a huge sugar fan but the marg was still something to try. I also tried out the crab quesadilla off the app half price at $7. It was very large and very tasty full of cheese and.m crab meat. They have your salsa, lettuce and sour cheese on the side to top your quesadilla if that's your thing. read more

This review is based on my brunch experience here. Take one look at their brunch menu and it's hard to decide on what to order. I'm still not sure if I ordered the correct thing. I glanced at the menu all week wanting one of their breakfast dishes. I wake up on Sunday and needed something sweet so I opted for the chicken and waffles. I've been by this restaurant no less than 350 times over my 14 years in Louisville. It has never looked appealing to me. This place is much larger than I thought it would be. They have a patio. A nice patio that's enclosed but it wasn't open during brunch? It seemed like a missed opportunity. The service was fine. There were only 6 or 7 tables during our 1.2 hours there. The server was around but it was also one of those missing in action situations. She would come check on us and then we wouldn't see her for a prolonged period of time. This wasn't an issue this time, but if I had somewhere to be or I was chugging water from a previous night's alcohol infused liver, then this would've been an issue. That might be why the patio wasn't open. We definitely would've been forgotten if we were sitting out there. Someone else described this place perfectly. This is Bardstown Road's version of Applebee's. It's obviously not that but it nails that Apple vibe. While it may not be the best place, it's a safe place to bring any picky out of towner. They'll certainly feel comfortable in this space. The Food: After deciding I needed something sweet for brunch, I ordered Ditto's chicken and waffles. This dish is tempura chicken atop a crispy Belgium waffle with blackberry citrus glaze, strawberries, and whipped cream. At 10 dollars, it's a few dollars more than it should be. Most chicken and waffle dishes that I'm familiar with have some type of crispy chicken. This tempura chicken was more like eating a funnel cake with my waffle. It was yummy but I don't need more than they gave me. The waffle was so-so. The dish had an abundance of whipped cream but not a lot of strawberries. I'm glad this comes with blackberry citrus glaze. It could use more of that. They also give you syrup but it's the small mass produced cups of fake syrup. If I'm paying 10 bucks for a waffle and chicken, at least give me legit syrup. I would love to try some of their other brunch items but it didn't leave an impression on me at all. The food is fine but with so many other brunch places in town, I doubt I'll be back. read more

Haven't been here in years. Stopped by on a Wed night and there were maybe five tables occupied. Service was good, and the bartender made a good gimlet. Unfortunately the food was just not great. It wasn't bad, but was very unremarkable. I had the crispy chicken carbonara, and she had the Thai Salmon. Both were just ok. The salmon was lightly breaded and on a bed of rice w veggies. She noted it "tasted like Chinese take out"...and not in a good way. My carbonara wasn't extremely flavorful, and had a chicken filet not even sliced on a bed of noodles w sauce. Again...just ok. Maybe they'll revamp their menu, but our meal was both overpriced for what we received and pretty unremarkable, nothing that made us say "I can't wait to get back here again" (except the gimlets...they were VERY tasty) read more

Crispy chicken with pasta carbonara is excellent, stacked meatloaf is always great, Thai salmon, stuffed sea bass, burger, fish sandwich--all consistently excellent! Appetizers and soups are good, drinks are done well, service usually really attentive and friendly. Someone I used to hang out with said that since I started doing Yelp actively that I was, "too good for them, too good to go to [insert chain restaurant]." Both are true. Dittos Grill has great service and that's why I'll always land there but their food is unremarkable. It's good, but it's not going to blow you away. I went there most recently with my friend Karen, she got a turkey sandwich that looked good but she wasn't in the mood to eat so I cannot verify if she enjoyed it or not. My bison burger was decent. I am trying to eat a bison burger at all the places I find them to see who has the best. This one was just 'okay' they put a sauce on it that took away from the other flavors. You can add fries to your burger for two dollars and honestly, that's the only thing I don't like about Dittos Grill. Other sides cost more but I felt like it coyly disguised that the unremarkable burger was a bit over-priced. I realize I was getting a burger but still. I've had their fettuccine and that's always good and is normally my go-to dish for Dittos Grill. This is really a place I go when there isn't consensus on what or where to eat, there is something for everyone. What makes Dittos remarkable is the people who work there. Everyone is always chipper and friendly. I can forgive their unremarkable food - it's good just now amazing - but I cannot overlook bad service. Lucky for me, I get to praise excellent service. Another "plus" for Dittos Grill is they have ample parking. I would venture the opinion that perhaps not all the cars parked in their lot are patronizing the restaurant but they do have enough spots for their establishment. read more

Dittos Grill is the Bardstown Road version of an Applebee's. Given that it is in the Highlands, it is a step above an Applebee's, but none of the dishes I've had are particularly remarkable. I tried the Pan Asian Garlic Noodles last night. They were just OK. I liked the sauce, but the asparagus were small and shriveled. I also tried a few bites of the Blackened Chicken Alfredo. The radiatori pasta was one-note -- just cheese (and not particularly good cheese) without any other flavors. Similarly, the crab quesadillas and mozzarella sticks tasted like they were just dumped out of a bag and fried or nuked. (But when you order mozzarella sticks, I realize that you can't really expect culinary greatness.) Dittos' menu contains a mix of pasta and burgers with a pizza, ribs and some Mexican and Asian dishes mixed in. While so many Highlands restaurants carve out a niche, Dittos is more of a generalist -- everyone will be able to find something. But when you consider that Dittos has been around since 1991 -- outlasting so many other restaurants along this stretch -- you have to appreciate it some. Here are some reasons to go to Dittos: * You have kids who are picky eaters. Like I said, there's someone that will taste OK for everyone. And while I don't like pointing this out, the times that I have been to Dittos, the restaurant was largely empty. So if you have rambunctious kiddos, they likely won't annoy a lot of other diners. * Your parents, grandparents, great aunt, great uncle, etc., are/is visiting, and you're trying to compromise and go someplace locally owned when they are wanting to go someplace safe, like Chili's or The Cheesecake Factory. * You have a large party on Bardstown Road that you need to find a table for ASAP. * You want to take advantage of the Happy Hour, which is Monday-Saturday 1-6 p.m. and includes half off appetizers, drinks, wine by the glass and beer. And speaking of beer, you'll find the normal suspects here, as in all manner of Budweiser and Coors, with Sam Adams, Heineken and Guinness added in, along with a token West Sixth and Fall City. I would very much urge Dittos to stock more local, craft beer. If I can't get amazing food, I'd like to at least drink something great. The service was prompt, so that was above par at least. But really, Dittos is just mediocre in an area that boasts some of the best food in Louisville. read more

Eh, not impressed. A friend and I came here on a whim since a few places we were wanting to check out were not open yet for lunch. Ditto's reminds me a bit of a run down O'Charley's, everything just being very average. I do like the large size of the restaurant, and the large, spacey booth we were given. Our waitress was nice and she was trying her best, but unfortunately we did not see much of her. There was barely anyone in the restaurant at the time, so I'm not sure what was going on. The food...also eh. EXCEPT for the 7 layer dip..Oh my lord, it was amazing. I wasn't even sure what it consisted of, but it tasted like a mix of queso and marinara sauce. I'm giving a whole star just for this dip. They did also have a nice happy hour special, so we received the dip for $4 (half priced apps!) The entree, sub par fish sandwich. Not the worst, but nowhere near the best. It also took forever to get our lunch. I'm afraid I won't be making a recommendation here anytime soon. read more

Dittos Grill has been a staple of Louisville's Highlands for several decades. With a small but separate deli in the back, you could call it unique, casual and eclectic all in one. They have an array of different specialty entrees which are all very delicious. My favorite would be the pasta carbonara with crispy chicken. The portion size is good and the taste will blow your socks off. A perfect combination of an Alfredo cream sauce with spices on cavatappi, combined with chicken and a tomato garnish. It is my absolute favorite. My husband loves the fried wings. You can get them tossed or dry, whichever you prefer. Dittos is a great place to get a good size group of friends or family together for birthdays and special occasions. I've been patronizing since the early 2000's and I've never been disappointed. The owner is very kind and polite to his patrons but I often see and hear him yelling at his crew members in the back like Gordon Ramsey. With as often as I come here, I felt like I needed to update my review. I still think they are a great middle of the road kind of place. Not a place I would suggest for "nice" dining. But I come here probably twice a month with a relatively large and objectively rowdy group. They put up with us admirably! The thing that really keeps us coming back though is their happy hour deals! Half off all drinks and appetizers until 6. Last night our group ordered every appetizer except the sweet potato fries....and in fact multiples of several items. It really is hard to beat, and I honestly have never had an entree here because the appetizers are pretty good and fill us up! The Thai wings are my favorite thing and I quite like their calamari. read more

I wish I could give this place 3.5 stars because I feel badly giving it a 3 but 4 really seems like way too much. Any time I want a soup and salad, this is the place I go. I rarely eat in and almost always get it to go. It's pretty fast service and the food is always ready to be picked up in 10-15 minutes. Their French onion soup is excellent and one of my favorites. I like it much better when eating in because it comes in the cool cup with cheese perfectly crusted and falling over the top. It's great! I also usually get the citrus salad or garden chop salad. If you like the salads at Stevens and Stevens, these will definitely remind you of them. My boyfriend got the meatloaf sandwich and thought it was very tasty. It is massive and he was definitely over stuffed. He also got one of the drinks off the cocktail menu that was similar to an Old Fashioned. It looked appealing but was watered down and just not very good or worth $10! We ended our meal with a dessert and decided on creme brûlée, which is one of my favorites. Food was okay, got harassed twice by the server and the manager for drinking although everyone in the party was of age and was IDd twice. Server was very apologetic after but manager did not care how he treated us. If you look young and want to have a drink or two to relax go somewhere else because you will not get to relax here and instead you will be harassed and leave feeling annoyed. read more

Although they don't seem to have a seasonal specials menu as in the past we were able to find something on their small menu. My wife opted for the meatloaf that was more than she could eat and I chose the crab cake and pan crusted bass with crispy green beams. Both were good and filling. We had a reservation for six on Sunday for brunch. We were the first patrons to arrive at the restaurant. My daughter-in-law did not get her food until well after we had all finished our meals. We even waited an appropriate amount of time for her food to arrive before beginning to eat. Not only did she not get her meal, but several of our orders were incorrect, which we did not report. We asked multiple times about her food and were assured it was coming right away. When the bill was delivered to our table I asked if we were going to be charged for her meal. The manager, Joe, came to the table and had the worst attitude I have ever encountered at a place of business. He wouldn't talk to my husband, who was clearly paying the bill, and began interrogating my daughter-in-law about her thoughts on the meal. It was very uncomfortable for her and for everyone. She was our guest and was made to feel like she had done something wrong. He was not apologetic about the problem and was very confrontational. We completely understand that mistakes happen, especially when businesses are short-staffed. However, the manager's attitude was so unprofessional. We will not return to Dittos ever again! read more

6/19/19 is a day that I will always want to forget. It was my first and only experience at Dittos. How has this "restaurant" been around seemingly forever? We were greeted by the staff telling us they were a server short. Looking around the restaurant and seeing that my group of 12 doubled the occupancy, we weren't worried. We waited for about 20 minutes in an empty restaurant to be seated. We waited for drink orders, and food orders. We waited and waited and waited some more. I would hate to see the place filled to capacity if a short staff couldn't handle the empty dining room that evening. One pro, the bread was good! The butter was buttery! The menu items were severely overpriced. The flavor in my hot chicken was nonexistent. It was an all around disappointing evening. Glad its over and doesnt need to be re-lived. read more

We had driven past this place for years but this was our first time eating here and what a treat! The atmosphere was very laid back. It wasn't busy Friday evening. The portion sizes were large and the food was HOTT!!! I love seeing smoke come from my food. The food was delicious. It was well seasoned without being salty. I came for lunch as a work thing and unfortunately don't have any pictures. Service overall was good, but some of this may be because we were known to the service staff as a catering crew. I had the Tomato Garlic Bowtie Pasta Broccoli with Chicken. The rest of the group had the Salmon Caesar Salad, Blackened Chicken Alfredo, and the Crispy Apple Jack Chicken with Crab Cake. We shared a fried calamari appetizer. Their cocktail sauce was great. All of the portions were huge and we had no complaints taste wise about anything. Literally my only complaints were that the chicken and broccoli were not cut down into easily edible portions. It was served with huge pieces of broccoli and one very large piece of friend chicken on top. Insignificant complaints in the grand scheme of things. It is definitely a crave worthy place and the portion sizes make the prices reasonable. read more
