Maha and her team has been phenomenal! Her work is meticulous. Our guests were WOW'd. We got married at the Abbington Banquet last weekend. It's only been a week, her talent really shined on my wedding day when my guests couldn't stop praising the beauty of the decorations and her little personal touches she made around the venue. The bouquets were exactly what I had envisioned and we got so many compliments!! My girls were pleased, the only thing was my husband's boutonniere didn't seem to last all night....but no one really noticed but me....everyone was just busy dancing! I was recommended to Maha by multiple friends, they all had their own style at their weddings...I kinda wanted more elegance yet simple decorations, which she did an amazing job in presenting. We met up twice before and talked on the phone couple times to make sure we are on the same page with everything. I wasn't worried about her presentations, as I have seen her work and it is outstanding!! I was more concerned about the cost and meeting my budget. It wasn't cheap but she worked with me and made it more pleasant toward the end. Walking into the reception I was speechless, she added more of her touch than we agreed on and made my wedding entrance blossom! I didn't want my bridal party to sit next to me, I really wanted to focus on our sweetheart table....and she really did make it the focal point of the room. I also had 3 Centerpieces throughout the room, each one was different but they are blended together well. I never liked big tall centerpieces that blocked guest's views...I kept it simple, yet elegant. Loved every piece. Maha did an amazing job! loved everything, from church to Venue decorations....all together she made it beautiful and it definitely stood out from all my friends that used her in the past. We never got our quote back. We're very disappointed because we drove all the way there from Vernon Hills during rush hour hoping we'd work with them but then it turned out to be a waste of time. Pros-Recently married Sept 7, 2012- I'll start with this Maha a very pretty and soft spoken young lady was/is awesome in her craft, she presented my dream wedding without a mishap. Everything I asked of Maha was definitely created and then some. My wedding and reception was great the decorations were awesome totally 100% satisfied with the decorations! All of my guest are still in awe and talking about how great the wedding/reception was a week later. I received tons of compliments on how beautiful everything was and how I raised the bar for future weddings. She created my fairytale ambiance of love and romance. I knew what i wanted and i had a specific vision and she brought it to the light. After attending countless wedding expo's and negotiating prices for my wedding, I just wasn't satisfied with other vendors. i somehow ran across a flyer from Divine Designs and Events. After making the phone call and setting up the appointment with her assistant Carmen, i just knew this was going to be my one stop shop. Maha did the dressings of the table linens, chair covers, lighting, canopy/chuppa, backdrop, monogram, and columns for a very reasonable price. I was very pleased and overly excited! Just thrilled I now found the person to make it all happen for me she created my dramatic love theme wedding. She also refunded some of my money back once I had a final headcount, with no problems. Now with all the positive feedback i mentioned prior, you would think there wouldn't be anything other to say. I wanted to give all the great feedback prior to giving the less wanted agony of a stressed bride to be, because at the end of the day I'd definitely use her again. Here are my cons to Maha- Divine Design and Events. While her craft is awesome! Her Customer Service skills are almost non-existent, Initially i was able to contact her and get a quick response either she or Carmen would return my calls either the same day or at least the next day. After she relocated her office whenever i called i basically would get her voicemail with no return call for days to weeks. I did get upset with Maha quite a few times, due to the stress of wanting that oh so perfect wedding when a bride to be wants to make sure all the vendors are in order it's very difficult to relax when you haven't heard from the one person that holds the key to making it all fantastic.. Eventually Maha and I did speak via email (which later turned out to be the best way of communication)and sometimes verbally and she tried to calm my nerves reassuring me that i had no worries. After all the heavy breathing and stressing i will say on Sept 6, 2012 she was absolutely right and i had no worries. Her husband Yehia (which by the way found out he was related to a stylist that used to do my hair) was fantastic! They were able to decorate the banquet hall to perfection without a hitch.. She's great in what she does but she really needs to work on turn around time with corresponding to her customers. I know she will definitely stay in business and become even more successful once she's able to have that under control.. I would have given her all 5 stars but the turn around time simply drove me nuts.. Rating of 0 not 1!!! Liar, cheater, embarrassed us among over 300 family members. Our only brother-we have been waiting over ten years to make this event happen! My father is on an oxygen machine. He could not take a breath when he saw the flowers that we fully paid $12,400. One thousand dollars in cash as a deposit (which I have a receipt for) and $11,400 in a check! Currently she owes us $2400.00. But, the quality and quantity of flowers was minimal and NOT what was agreed upon in the contract- which I have a copy of via email! The contract was written which included $3000.00 for staging. The flowers were not worth $2000.00. Everything other than the staging should have had fresh flowers- that's what we paid over twelve thousand dollars for! NOT one fresh flower in the church! NOT one healthy bouquet! NOT one healthy boutineer! Not one healthy corsage! My mother put the corsage on and it fell apart- the pins were not even secure or connecting anything together! The flowers were not delivered to the brides house and ALL the flowers were wilted before they were brought to the hotel where the groom's family was staying. The owner/ manager decided, without asking any one of us, to change the color of the ribbon/sash on the bouquet from light blue (which was the color of the bridesmaids' dresses) to lilac! WHY? She refuses to answer the phone, she refuses to answer text message. Very unprofessional! I think from the bottom of my heart she confused our wedding with someone else's! NO crystal decor on the center pieces, the decor in the church was plain awful, the fake/ artificial flower balls just kept falling off! The bride and the bridal party ( including the children) almost tripped and fell on the runner that her employees laid down. It was a horrific situation, Divine Design and Events ruined my one and only brothers wedding! This company gets a rating of 0 stars! We were humiliated that day and we can never get back what we lost! But once all was done the manager Maha did not have the common courtesy to answer our phone calls! She responded once to the numerous text messages and was caught we in many lies and did not respond again! UNPROFESSIONAL!!! DISRESPECTFUL!!! RUDE!!! The center pieces were not the ones discussed and ordered! We were cheated out of the items agreed upon! She used minimal fresh flowers- only 10% of the flowers were real and she was paid extra to make sure the majority of flowers used would be fresh! The fresh flowers she did use were wilted and fell apart immediately! The crystals that should have been incorporated into the centerpieces were not used ( not even one), the size of the centerpieces were preselected but none of the ones agreed upon were used and candelabras selected were not even the correct size! I am convinced that wrong products were set up in the hall for the wrong wedding! TOO many mistakes and not enough TLC for the customers! She was paid in full prior to the wedding and she used what she had left behind to complete our wedding but all she did was lie, cheat and take advantage of us because we are from another state! Maha was the decorator for my two wedding events (shaadi and walima) and a recent graduation party. She did a fantastic job decorating at Ashyana Banquets, but the only minor issue was a miscommunication with the sofa rentals. Other than that, everyone loved my stage for both events. She recently decorated Lazaat Banquets for a formal graduation party my parents hosted and she did a wonderful job. Her husband came by and put everything up and made sure we were satisfied. He arrived a little late though, but being a Pakistani event, no one showed up on time anyway! Thank you Maha for doing a wonderful job with all of my events! PS. As with any event decorator/wedding vendor, you need to stay on top of them. You have to remind them of things via email and call them often to make sure they remember what you requested. When I signed a contract with Maha, I knew I will have some problem with commutating with her since I have read all her reviews, but the price was so much lower than others and also she has worked with the meadows club before I decided to go with her. She was great with commutating via E-mail and we set up few meeting decide on flower and other decorating details for the wedding. I will start with the positive things, I loved the how center pieces turned out, we used the center pieces for the ceremony and reused for center places and it turned out great. Back drop was great. Even though few of my friends did not think the bridal flowers and bridesmaids flowers were fresh, but I got what I have asked for and it looked better than I could imagine. Okay Negatives, I ordered 15 up lighting for the room only 10 or 11 up lighting was place unevenly at the hall, my wedding planner had to changed the wiring to make it more even throughout the hall. The boutonnieres for family was so small, we have talked about have two or three spray roses on each boutonnieres but she only had one spray roses on each, which was size of my thumb. I have requested for flowers for mothers but did not get that on my wedding day, my wedding planner had to go to nearest flower shop to obtain this an hour before our wedding. The worst of all, I could not get in touch with her on my wedding date. I understand that she was hard to commutate with but I wish she would have answered her phone on the day of my wedding. After talking to her she did refund me some part of boutonnieres and lighting. I have to say her work is great, the flowers, Back drop, lighting and price cannot be better, but make sure you are willing to deal with commutation issues. read more

I can't even begin to explain what a phenomenal job Maha did. From the first day we spoke on the phone to all the meetings and coming up to the big day I felt like I'd known Maha forever! She was on top of it and making sure everything was going smoothly and if she wasn't available, Yehia was also fully aware and assisting. Honestly, I'm not one to come online and publicize negative information about anyone or their business; however, this is something that I felt needed to be shared with anyone planning an event and thinks they are dealing with a professional... do yourself a favor and stay as far away from Maha, her spouse, and her "team" as possible. They are the absolute opposite of what a professional stands for. I got married two weeks ago and I'm still waiting for her to return my calls and respond to my emails. The only time I even heard back from Maha was when it involved money and how much she would charge me for setting up my event. Had I waited for Maha to respond to my multiple calls and emails I would have gotten married with absolutely ZERO decor. Let's not forget her office is located 45 minutes to an hour away... I dragged my fiancé to a meeting that Maha set up the date and time for... I left work early and rearranged my entire schedule to meet her at the time she felt would fit her schedule to find out, the office was actually closed and no one from "her team" showed up to discuss my event. I called and called and called the office to no avail. Finally, hours later, she calls me back and tells me, "oh I'm sorry, I forgot you were coming, let's reschedule..." Do yourself a favor and save yourself a headache and book anyone else but Divine Design. The only thing Divine about them is their ability to waste your time. Finally, and since everyone is thinking it, but no one wants to admit it - Maha is a "Sprinkles boutique" knock off. She claims all these creations and events were "her ideas," when in actuality, she is constantly ripping off the ideas of others. Not to mention she totally screwed over my sister on her wedding. She told her that she would "throw in" some extra stuff for her on her wedding day as a bonus- and that never happened. When my sister walked into her wedding wondering where the boutonnières were or the customized sign on the dance floor, Maha never delivered. Just because you went to Italy for a floral class doesn't make you any more of a florist or an event planner. That would be like me taking my baby sister to the zoo and then claiming I'm a panda bear... There really isn't any point in pretending like you're the best event planner in town, offering the best services and talk yourself up, but, when push comes to shove... all you did was build on your own ego. If you talk a big talk and pretend like you're superior to others, please prove so by actually showing up or calling people back, otherwise... you need to let some air out of that big head of yours... all she did when we would meet is talk about herself. I had gone through her Instagram page (@divinedesignsandevents) and she embodied the vision of what I wanted the feel for the wedding. So - trust me when I say that I compared some very high profile and well recommended event designers for my daughter's wedding at the Drake Hotel in Chicago in June, 2018. When I met Maha, I immediately felt a sincere warmth from her, along with her genuine desire to create an amazing vision for our event. She showed me a variety of options from her inventory of décor which included some beautiful pieces that were unique from the other designers that I had met. In addition, she was so excited to be challenged by some new ideas and had great enthusiasm and desire to do a job that was above and beyond what I had ever dreamed of. Maha was amazing to work with and our MANY arrangements for both the bridal shower and actual wedding were perfect. My wedding was at The Drake in the Gold Coast room, and since the room is very gold, I wanted pure white flowers to avoid any clashing with the ornateness of the gold. While she followed what I asked, she also made the most beautiful and full arrangements, so while the white color was 'simple', the arrangements themselves were gorgeous and complex. You will end up paying a lot of money and won't get what you actually asked for, you can hire someone else that does same job but cheaper with respect because She didn't show any respect after she made a lot of mistakes at my wedding such like not to get the bridle and groom mirror table that we asked for until we called her in the middle of the wedding and after she realized she was wrong which is she didn't believe us at the beginning until she checked out the Contract, and then she sent her employees to change it in front of the guests , because she wasn't the one who took care of the job, she just made her employees to do it for her. I cannot say enough great things about Divine Designs! My husband and I knew from the minute we met with Maha and her team that we can trust her with designing our wedding. I told her what my vision was and she took it from there surpassing any of our expectations! I have recommended her to plenty of family and friends and she is now working on my brother's wedding too. Divine Designs is definitely a one stop shop...they took care of our banquet entrance with a canopy style, our stage backdrop, the uplighting for the banquet, all of my flowers including bouquet and bridesmaids bouquets, as well as seat covers and center pieces. Poor communication. Did whatever she wanted to do. Made a bunch of mistakes and never took responsibility. DO NOT HIRE HER .

Maha and her team ruined my big day! They overcharge and don't even do what was agreed on in the contract. Don't pay full amount up front cuz they will screw you over. They don't pick up their phone. If you are lucky, you will get a call back a few days later. For the stage, they left ALL the poles exposed, ruining all my pictures. A kid would have done a better job! They didn't light up any candles. They left the harsh neon light on, which ruined my entrance photos. I had to tell my emcee to turn off the lights and light up the candles! Some bows on the chairs were unraveling. You could see the tape on the floor runner. I had asked them to make sure it was covered. I was told it was no problem. Lies. The little tags that mentioned which tray had what food on our buffet were put out out of order and some weren't even facing the guests! If I had to do it over, I'd never hire them. Even towards the end, they didn't come on time to set and I had thought they had bailed. They were supposed to come at noon so I can be there the day before and supervise and they didn't show till 4 pm!!!! During those very long 4 hours, we got no call, they didn't pick up, and when they finally showed as we were leaving, they had a nasty attitude and no apology. Excuse us for being worried and upset. Complete lack of respect and professionalism. She even had the audacity to talk back to my mom because my mom wanted her to fix one of the chair covers that was messed up. We paid close to 5 grand just to get an attitude and an incomplete poor job. Be forewarned. Maha is all sweet up front then once she gets your money, you can kiss what you agreed on good-bye. I hope this business goes bankrupt. I'd give them zero stars if I could. read more
