If they had been busy I would have understood but we were one of two tables in the restaurant at that time. Once the waitress came and took our order we waited forever to get our food. I think there was only one person back running the kitchen. The food was really good but considering how long it took to get our drinks and our food I give it 3 stars. The pork belly was tough and hard not like times past. We really needed a steak knife and 1/2 of the 2 portions we ordered was not edible. The trout and crab mac came out and I waited and waited not 10 min but nearly 30 minutes for the duck. I spoke to our waitress and I think the manager and they kept saying it takes more time to prepare. At about 25 minutes I canceled my duck as my wife and friend were done with their meal. I was given just excuses and no explanation. I suggested that since they KNOW the duck takes longer to prepare they should have started that first. I was told by the two I spoke too that they put in the order and it's started in that order so my duck was last. So the so called Chef's who should know the duck takes longer blew it along with the wait staff. In every restaurant setting I've been in, the chef would to start what takes longer first so the table of two or more would be served at the SAME time. But not here at Wood Ash Rye. As mentioned this was one of at least four other times here. But in our years absence, the familiar faces were gone, the so called Chefs looked like line cooks and the wait staff was clueless on how to make things right. Sad....we won't be back.

The reservation needed adjustment last minute due to a change in schedule that day and after multiple phone calls, they were able to accommodate that change. Note: it seems there is not a direct phone number to the restauarant so I had to work with someone in the hotel lobby for this. Interestingly enough, we ended up having dinner here on Friday as well with a large group. Huge thanks to Kyle and staff for working with us that evening... We worked out a large group order to-go but sat down for our drinks. Need to know: Due to Utah Liquor laws, adults who are drinking alcoholic beverages must be seated... that was a new fun fact I learned when making the reservation. On Saturday night, the restaurant had a bit of a condensed menu and they were out of salmon, which was a bit disappointing, but after having 3 meals here, we do recommend the wings, nachos, and burgers. The area in the back of the restaurant with games including ping pong is great for the kids and there is also a grassy area out back too. I know that this restaurant is fairly new and working out the kinks... I look forward to returning in the future as I know it will continue to get better.

We decided to stay, ordered drinks and appetizers, and checked in multiple times with our waiter. Each time, we were told they were still working on it. After waiting for over an hour, we were finally told they couldn't put it on after all. The most frustrating part is that we would have completely understood if they had told us upfront. We could have made other plans and gone somewhere that could accommodate our request. Instead, we spent a significant part of the evening waiting and hoping, which took away from what was supposed to be a special birthday celebration. Afterward, I noticed similar feedback from other guests about difficulties getting channels changed, even when it seemed possible. That was disappointing to see and makes it feel like this may be a recurring issue. The service itself was polite, but better communication and follow-through would have made a big difference in our experience.
