I love diners. The yummy food, the reasonable prices, and the friendly staff make diners some of the best places to eat and Hungry Dawg's Diner is definitely one of the best. Service is always fast and the food is piping hot. The menu is vast too so you'll be able to find whatever delicious diner dish you're craving. My current favorite for breakfast is the German sausage and eggs. I'm a huge fan of this dish, so much that I ordered it the last few times I've been in for breakfast. Worth trying if you're in the mood for a hearty breakfast! I love the cute decor in this diner too-framed dog photos all over the walls and dog murals on the windows. Judging from the other reviews, this place is quite a hit or miss with folks. Unfortunately it was a miss for us when we finally tried breakfast here for the first time. Service was great. People were nice. I love a place that obviously has regulars that come in and they know them by name and know their order. That's awesome. But the food for us was not good enough for us to join the regular club. The OJ tasted like rancid Minute Maid out of the carton OJ. The Eggs Benny was soaked in so much hollandaise sauce it made me curious what it was covering up. The bacon tasted cheap and lacked flavor. However, the pancakes were good and the highlight of the meal. On top of this, the lighting was too bright and cold. The booth light shines directly into your eyes from above. Not a warm establishment, if that's what you're looking for. You are probably better off at Dennys. In fact when we left, there were only 2 tables eating, but Dennys was packed. And much cheaper too. We came at a very slow paced time so the restaurant was quiet with lots of seating available. A single worker quickly came to get drink order and left menus. We had coffee/water delivered soon after and they were aware of when we were done perusing the menu. The breakfast items we had were excellent. The top and bottom of the hash browns were crunchy and the insides of the scrambled eggs and hash browns were still hot by the time we got it delivered. The bacon was superior quality and cooked to perfection, we added a side of gravy, that perfectly complimented the buttered biscuit. The French toast had a well balanced buttery flavor with crunchy outside edges and soft pillowy center. The cost is somewhat high, two adults costing just shy of $50, the food delivered lives up to the price and doesn't disappoint. They do have kid menus and senior citizens menu. The food is unremarkable basic diner but crazy expensive. Their $5 mimosa is now $10 and most breakfast entrees are at least $17.50 to $18.00. (You can get decent drinks at real restaurants for $8.50 so I was shocked when their tiny mimosa with garbage sparkling wine was $10) you can eat at the Farm and have better quality better prepared door for less than Hungry Dawg. On rare occasion, I like to return to the worst diners in hopes that things have improved or maybe my opinion changes. It's not uncommon for me to boost a review score based on a follow up experience, but that won't happen here today. The food here, is terrible, service questionable and prices are so far out of line for the area, quality and service, that I think this place is in need of it's own reality show, "The Hurting Dawg". I'm not sure at what point the owner stars making positive changes based on reviews, it's clear she reads reviews, because she doesn't waste any time begging Yelp to remove the ones she doesn't like. Also, I'll comment again about the high frequency of 5 star reviews from people out of state. Buckley is not a tourist or high traffic area, so I don't believe this place is a beacon for every interstate traveler to stop in on. At the risk of sounding cliche, I've never felt stronger that Yelp should allow no star reviews. Had the owner refunded me from my original experience, I would have just written this place off, but I finally made it back and regret the journey. read more

Stopped at this mom and pops restaurant with my good friend. Breakfast is my favorite meal and we meandered in on a Monday later morning (10:30). I ordered the two egg breakfast meal with eggs over hard. I got home fries and breakfast sausage links. The home fries were quite hard (I'd recommend the hash browns--my friend got them and they looked good). The eggs were cooked as requested which was over hard. The sausage was decent and tender. Service was fairly speedy--but honestly, it wouldn't have mattered too much to me be used I was visiting my friend and we wanted to sit and catch up over coffee and breakfast! It's a very bad sign when you walk into a diner at noon and NO ONE else is there. We stayed anyway for a lunch, 2 burgers and fries (free water to drink) for $40. That's right, 40 dollars for lunch. Service was quick and plate presentation was very nice, lots of fries, but the burgers were not very good, here's why (from a veteran restaurant manager): 1. Burger meat was not char broiled, but flat grilled. Likely microwaved to thaw, possibly pre-cooked. No flavor at all to the meat. Actually tore off a piece by itself, a kind of mystery how it could be so tasteless. 2. Way too much in toppings to create a false sense of value. My Philly burger had lettuce, tomato and onion ( on a Philly?) and diced green peppers and onions which were also tasteless adding to the mystery of how they were prepared ( bulk bag frozen would be my guess). The lettuce was fine shred which has no crunch value at all. 3. Burgers served on a Brioche bun might be trendy, but not diner food. The buns were fluffy, more perceived value from the height I reckon, but under-toasted if at all. This made the burger incredibly messy, and made me think of the bun as a sponge. Compare this to a flavorful char broiled patty of real ground beef, served with crispy lettuce, fresh tomato and a full onion slice, on a butter toasted sesame seed bun. Peppers and onions for a Philly should be strips grilled beside the meat for flavor. Making me hungry for home made now. Will not return ever. For the high price I got a messy flavorless burger. Disappointing Experience at Hungry Dawgs Diner At first, we thought this was going to be a good experience. The server was nice and friendly, which gave us hope for a pleasant meal. However, once we got our food, her demeanor completely changed--she became short and cold, as if we were an inconvenience. The food was even worse. I ordered eggs, hash browns, and bacon, while my boyfriend got the corned beef hash. We also ordered two coffees. The bacon tasted like it was microwaved and old, and the eggs had clear liquid coming out of them, which was completely unappetizing. The portion sizes were tiny for the price, and the corned beef hash tasted like canned dog food. I even showed a picture to my stepmom, who has worked in high-end restaurants for years, and she confirmed it was definitely canned. After the meal, we went back in to ask for a receipt. The server asked if we wanted an itemized copy, and we said yes. She then told us she couldn't provide that and could only give us the total. "The key difference between over easy and over medium eggs lies in the yolk's doneness: over easy eggs have a fully runny yolk, while over medium eggs have a yolk that is slightly cooked, with a jammy or custardy texture" the overall experience here was just a standard diner, it was fine. But the chef doesn't know what over medium eggs are. I'm not a person who sends plates back, because I don't like making people mad/feel bad if they made a mistake. But over easy eggs make me sick to my stomach to eat them, so I ask for over medium because the yolks are at least warm and mostly cooked instead of being basically cold and runny. sent back the first plate, cried bc I felt bad, and they STILL sent back incorrectly cooked eggs to me. I didn't have faith they'd get it right if I sent it back again when they told me the above description of over easy eggs was actually over medium. I was so flustered I just ate the over easy eggs, even though they make me feel sick because I know what kitchen staff do when they get a plate sent back a second time, it ruins their day and sometimes they do tamper with the food. They tried to give us a coupon, but I asked my husband not to use it bc I didn't want $ off our ticket, I wanted a cook who knows how to cook eggs OR was willing to admit it if they didn't know how and needed a description of what I ordered, but we had 2 kids in tow, and errands to run, and no time. Waitstaff still got the standard 25% we leave, but if you have specific egg preferences or food sensitivity/allergies, I wouldn't go here because it seems the cook isn't open to taking instructions. I have frequented Hungry Dawg's Diner over the years and after a short time away from the area stopped back in for Breakfast. I have always had a great experience here - It's everything you want in a classic greasy spoon! The atmosphere is perfect and the decor, makes it feel like a true down-home diner. The service was excellent--our server was friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. We didn't have to wait long to be seated on a busy Saturday and the coffee and meals were perfectly timed - even for our table of 7. We were well taken care of in the corner booth. When the food arrived, we were happy with the generous portion sizes and how hot and fresh everything was. Did I mention the Oatmeal? It's underrated. Everyone goes for the eggs and bacon but the oatmeal with blueberries and brown sugar is a treat! I had a party of 3 people on a Sunday at about 10am to have breakfast. We had about 15-20 minute wait, which should be expected in Bonney Lake on the weekend since there isn't many breakfast options locally. The food was good and our orders were correct, but we waited for quite some time to put our order in and get food. The waitress seemed pretty short with us... only because she was firing away questions to get our order complete before we had a chance to fully answer her previous question. I had eggs benedict and it was great, the egg yolks were a bit over cooked...but I asked for crispy hash browns and they followed up with that. It's a family restaurant so It was quite loud in there, with lots of families and young kids getting impatient with food. If you're sensitive to that, then maybe get McDonald's and eat alone in your car in silence. Bar seating does seem to take priority service, so if you're in a hurry I would sit there. read more
