Finally check out Dizzy Whiz after hearing about the burgers. Welp, I got me the $11 deal for two bacon cheese burgers and 2 fries. Not bad. The burgers. Unfortunately they the meat was paper thin, tiny like mcdonalds/Burger King is now. Flavor wise very good though, I did enjoy the nice charl flavor to the meat. Buns were nice and toasted. Burgers came with a slice of American cheese, mayo, and bacon. Overall, taste wise great, value wise average. The fries Average Sysxo slop mass produced crinkle cut fries. Very unseasoned, needed lots of salt. Nothing special. I should have splurged for the $10 gutbuster to really compare the Burger against a place like Toastys. read more

Dizzy Whizz is a Louisville legend for good reason. The restaurant is small with a vintage vibe. The restaurant is clean and the service was quick. Burgers were delicious but the shake was amazing. I had asked for a recommendation and the Butterscotch shake did not disappoint. Dizzy Whizz is between a 3-4 star, and because it's a longstanding tradition in Louisville, I have to round up. Plus I'm embarrassed to say this was my first visit and I have several items to order. We had an event nearby and time to kill so we slid into a parking spot and began checking out the menu online. You can order ahead online, eat inside or order curbside. We were greeted by a team member and she took care of us. Today's order was simple - a cheeseburger combo that came with fries and a drink. I upgraded to a pineapple shake. The burger is basic and traditionally includes mayo and lettuce. The fries are thick and would've benefited from more time in the fryer. The pineapple shake was thick vanilla ice cream with a few chunks of fruit. This was a perfect eat-in-the-car meal and hit the spot before our event. While it won't be a destination spot for me, I'll be asking to drive by more often when I'm in the area. read more

We were staying at the Crowne Plaza so we thought we would Door Dash. I ordered the chicken strip meal that comes with chicken stripes, fries, toast, and gravy. When I got my meal and opened it the first thing I noticed was no gravy. That's the only reason I ordered this meal was so I could dip my chicken, toast, and fries in the gravy. Now all I had was a box of cold fries, dry chicken, and soggy toast. DQ always adds the grace to their chicken strip basket. I hate giving a bad review, but the Dizzy Whizz is just not living up to its history. The service was just OK. The staff were yelling at each other and seemed frustrated. I waited about 15 mins for my food, and you can tell from the picture, the burger patty's didn't even cover the bun. The restaurant is old and seems dirty... and the neighborhood is not the greatest after dark. I'm sure this place was fantastic in 1947... but not so much in 2025. read more

Checking off yet another Louisville institution. I think, honestly, it might have earned an other star if I had done curbside service/call-in and carry out. As it was though, we were walking in the area on a Sunday early afternoon. Our original hope was to eat at Noble Funk but they weren't open yet, and turns out we had no inclination for any booze on that day, so Dizzy Whizz seemed like a good option for quick food, decent food, and a spot we could sit and eat in the middle of our walking. We pretty much got that. There is a small dine-in area. It leaves a lot to be desired ambiance-wise. But it seemed clean enough. More than half the tables didn't have salt shakers and our fries did end up needing the benefit of more seasoning. We each got a double bacon cheeseburger combo (which comes with fries and a drink). You are prompted to tip (like everywhere these days) but you order at the counter, pick up your own food from the window, and bus your own table. Which isn't to say don't tip at all....but I am not receiving any service upon which to tip... (I left a 20% tip because I was able to but then realized all the self-service you do). The food was perfectly acceptable. I have had better, and I have had worse, but this was all done well and quick and really hit the spot. Used to have good things to say about this place. Definitely not anymore. Called tonight to place an order at 9:51pm. Website, Apple Maps and Yelp all say open until 11pm. I was met with a "we're closed" and a prompt slam of the phone. I called back to ask about the hours because clearly something isn't right. Someone else answered the phone and I asked what are your hours. He said "we're closed now". So I asked what are the hours and click! Hung up on again. I wanted to try out one of Louisville's most legendary burger joints and I can say that it didn't disappoint. The woman taking our order was amazing, very helpful. The other employees were also helpful, constantly checking in on us to see if we enjoyed the food.We tried the bacon cheeseburger, cheeseburger, the famous Whizzburger, fries, butterscotch shake, and a banana split. First time coming here. Wanted to try something well known in the louisville area. This place is quite busy but I have mixed views / opinions from my visit... The bad is that this place is in a really sketchy area and the building is really beaten up and in need of various upgrades. It's honestly a comfortable place to sit down and eat at after placing your order but there's alot of sketchy people walking around asking for money with suspicious people lurking around the abandoned building next door. Customers are a bit rowdy too. The kitchen is disgusting and I don't like how part of the diner is closed off The good is definitely the prices here and amazing and have great specials. Food tastes really good for what you order and it's great to get a whole meal under $10. Staff is quite friendly as well, features plenty of breakfast, lunch, dinner specials with good hours.... This was unfortunately not good. I have been wanting to try this place for many years as it is labeled a Louisville staple. I was in the area and said hey why not? I went in and it was very nasty on the inside it looked like it needed to be cleaned. Also the lady at the counter kept talking to the other lady that worked there and said 3-4 times "I'm your slut"..... I'm not sure how to respond to this but was just pretty shocked. I got my burger and went to the truck to eat. I was not pleased with the small patty and the overall tasteless burger. I had high hopes since they call Dizzy Whizz a Louisville staple worth trying. My friends and I stopped in here around 12:30 on a Sunday. They've got a parking lot so no worries about that! As soon as you enter the door, you order at that counter and they'll call your number. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with a sweet tea. Bland. All. Of. It. You can get a better patty at McDonald's. And the sweet tea was barely sweet. Ugh. My friends both got the Whizz burger combo. The fries were not seasoned. So sad, y'all. But they did have a good crunch to them! People seem to order the breakfast here so I'd be open to try that. They also have milkshakes. They sounded good, but my dairy-sensitive stomach can't handle that. It's a small place. Like 8 tables inside. There's seating outside too. You can do curb service though. The place was not exactly clean. My kid and I came here after Bock fest for a burger and shake. They have great service, I mean super friendly and helpful people working there. Even with them being busy, they weren't stressing at all. We got the 2 bacon cheeseburgers and 2 fries deal and I got a peanut butter shake and my kid got a Oreo treat. Our order took a bit at least 15 minutes, but there was a few larger orders in front of ours. The burgers are good, basic bacon cheeseburger burger made to order. The peanut butter shake was good too. The fries were good too with the seasoning on them. My kid loved his Oreo shake and liked that his bacon was crispy. Overall Great service and good diner food. Tip. There is only one bathroom, you have to go outside to the back of the building, pretty much behind the kitchen. So check it out for yourself. read more

Customer service was TERRIBLE. All the workers in the kitchen and in prep were working their butts off, but the lady working the register was shockingly bad at her job. She stood there at the pickup window talking to a customer about personal matters for an extended period of time while other customers waited and eventually tried to get her attention during their conversation, but to no avail. She ignored all the customers as she chatted it up. I was simply waiting to pickup an already paid for door dash order that I could see sitting there ready for me when I walked in. I'm normally very patient when the workers are working hard, but this lady just had no excuse for her behavior and was just getting paid to chat. I'm not from Louisville, but when I moved here I immediately heard about Dizzy Whizz. It's a Louisville staple, and people love it. So, as someone who loves to support local, and wants to try everything, this spot immediately went on my list. And then it stayed there. Unfortunately, I just didn't make it to this spot for a really long time. But, finally, that changed! B and I took a bike ride one nice day and decided to stop for lunch at this spot. I'm so glad we did, because it was great! It's really no frills, because it's an old school diner-type burger spot, so don't go in expecting some place really nice. But, the food is really tasty, and really reasonably priced. We opted for burgers, fries, onion rings, and shakes. Everything was prepared to order, so it was all hot and fresh. Everything really tasty, and we were glad we were on our bikes so we could work off some of that greasy goodness when we had finished. We sat outside, though there's plenty of seating inside as well. But, we enjoyed sitting outside at a picnic table, near the drive-up for curbside service, which they always offer.
