Dizzy Whizz is between a 3-4 star, and because it's a longstanding tradition in Louisville, I have to round up. Plus I'm embarrassed to say this was my first visit and I have several items to order. We had an event nearby and time to kill so we slid into a parking spot and began checking out the menu online. You can order ahead online, eat inside or order curbside. We were greeted by a team member and she took care of us. Today's order was simple - a cheeseburger combo that came with fries and a drink. I upgraded to a pineapple shake. The burger is basic and traditionally includes mayo and lettuce. The fries are thick and would've benefited from more time in the fryer. The pineapple shake was thick vanilla ice cream with a few chunks of fruit. This was a perfect eat-in-the-car meal and hit the spot before our event. While it won't be a destination spot for me, I'll be asking to drive by more often when I'm in the area.

No gravy with the Chicken Strips Dinner
Danny J.

We were staying at the Crowne Plaza so we thought we would Door Dash. I ordered the chicken strip meal that comes with chicken stripes, fries, toast, and gravy. When I got my meal and opened it the first thing I noticed was no gravy. That's the only reason I ordered this meal was so I could dip my chicken, toast, and fries in the gravy. Now all I had was a box of cold fries, dry chicken, and soggy toast. DQ always adds the grace to their chicken strip basket. To say I was disappointed is an understatement, I was very angry because I couldn't say, you forgot to add the gravy at the counter.

I hate giving a bad review, but the Dizzy Whizz is just not living up to its history. The service was just OK. The staff were yelling at each other and seemed frustrated. I waited about 15 mins for my food, and you can tell from the picture, the burger patty's didn't even cover the bun. The restaurant is old and seems dirty... and the neighborhood is not the greatest after dark. I'm sure this place was fantastic in 1947... but not so much in 2025.

Great burger and onion rings! Stopped by this cool little burger joint in downtown Louisville on our drive back up to Ohio from down south.

Big Whiz breakfast. Three eggs, 4 bacon, hashbrowns, toast with a side of sausage gravy.

Small little local places like this are becoming exstinct. Dizzy Whiz has been around for quite some time, and I know why... Consistent quality and quantity. You can park and curb order, eat inside or order to go. You can even call in your order for pick up. You can watch most of your order being prepared, which I liked very much. Portions are adequate for the price. (except that side of gravy) Give this small diner a try if your downtown!

We pulled up to the diner and there is minimal parking in the front. But there's more parking along the side. When walking into the diner, we were immediately greeted. The lady was very friendly. We opted to sit outside and once she took our order, we had our food within five minutes. I mentioned how quick the service was and she did mention a Tuesday was a slow day. The seasoning on the fries are the best I've ever had! The burger was cooked to perfection with the buttery bun. I enjoyed my root beer with my combo. Very cool diner vibe. If you're looking for a great burger and fry joint, this will definitely not disappoint!

I don't expect an entire separate box of fries, but more than 10 would be nice- especially for $4! They were sure to tack on a $1 service charge as well, even though I was picking the food up. Burger Girl used to be a Louisville classic, but lately that's come to mean less "don't skip this if your life depends on it" and more "renowned for their awful food." As time goes on, I am honestly becoming more and more disappointed with Burger Girl. The point of a greasy spoon is to be cheap, quick, and filling, and Burger Girl misses on all of those fronts. For their prices I could go to a nicer restaurant with better food and a better experience. Honestly, as inflation continues to soar and quality continues to plummet, I find myself asking why I even bother going out, when I know I'll just be disappointed in the end. This might be the last straw for me, at least when it comes to Burger Girl. It just doesn't feel worth it anymore.

We were greeted by a friendly and efficient server. I ordered the double quarter pounder. I got mine sans lettuce and pickle. The default cheese on the burger was American but I was able to get mine with Provolone. You can also get Pepper Jack or Swiss. My burger was excellent, made with quality meat. The seasoned fries were very good with a definite note of garlic. The size of the fries order is plenty petite though. Shake flavors are limited to chocolate, strawberry and vanilla. I ordered a chocolate shake and it was pleasantly thick and tasty. We also got some oatmeal raisin and chocolate chip cookies to take home. They were of the most and chewy varietal (I prefer crispy) but were still good. Burger Boy has a digital station that allows you to select music to be played in the restaurant. I do need to point out that the price for a single patty burger was well over $10 so prices are high. But sure, if I was in the neighborhood and was craving a burger, I'd come back.

It's been a while since we visited Silver Dollar, I'm talking old ownership, pre-Covid long time…read moreago. And let me tell you, it's obvious there's new ownership, new style, new menu and all for the better. The decor was giving a Bakersfield California vibe right in Louisville Kentucky. Visually appealing, honky Tonk with a small splash of humor. The day we went, was a sunny spring, I preferred indoor - we were sat at a super spacious booth. Menu is one page but they absolutely nailed it. He ordered a Hemingway. It came in a beautiful copper coupe with a dehydrated orange slice. Classy, cool with a kick. We started with the Mexican Hot Cheese dip. It's not your typical queso -- this had chilis, onions, garlic, jalapeños as toppings and it was delicious. It was accompanied by house made chips. The cheese though... Hubs had fried catfish with the Nashville Hot option and I had a Caesar salad with fried chicken. Fried Nashville hot catfish verdict - Very good, very spicy, very crispy. Caesar with chicken...I stole a crouton off the top, "that garlic crouton was amazing, I could eat those like a snack." The salad itself was divine. The dressing is light, you can taste the green chilis without the spicy kick. I could eat this salad every day! Of course we had to try the Mexican crème brûlée. Super creamy, chocolatey with spice custard with a delicate brûlée sugar on top, garnished with fresh strawberries. Same restaurant, new flavors better service, awesome experience.

First off - I love this local gem, and I think it was just an odd/off night. It started with a scary trip to the ladies room, and it was just a mess. The first part of our evening (meeting friends) was great. Cocktails were tasty and the music was vibing. Fried pickles were AWESOME. At one point, the bartender changed the record and it became crazy loud - we literally couldn't hear the person 2 feet away speaking. A member of our party got up and asked the bartender if he could turn it down (asked politely), and was ignored. Literally ignored - bartender looked at my friend and the just walked away (and not to turn down the music). Next cocktail was AWFUL... food came out, and it was hot but nothing great; fries were oily. Churros were tough and overcooked as well. Our server (a younger woman) was attentive and friendly, and that was the highlight of our visit. She did turn down the music when we asked (and after another table I believe also asked). It wasn't a busy night, and I love the vinyl vibe and cool venue - we will come back and try again, but when 3 cocktails, an appetizer, and entree cost close to $100 before tip (for 2 - our friends were the same, so $200 for a table), you really need to be on point and provide solid service.

Parking can sometimes be a pain, but there is free street parking when parking lot is full.
