Ive been to a DJ's before but not this one and this is a great location for it. We went on a Friday late afternoon and there were plenty of people sitting outside enjoying the weather and the food. We ordered the clam strips with sweet potato fries, fish tacos and a warm lobster roll. I wasn't blown away by the lobster roll but it was good. The fish taco and the clam strips were very good, some of the sweet potato fries were undercooked but the smaller ones were fine. Ordering was easy, just walk up to the counter and they bring your food to the table. Drinks were serve yourself, I made an Arnold Palmer, it was perfect with the food that we had. Fun little spot if you're looking for a quick bite that's not too over the top. It's a straight to the point restaurant, you order at the cashier, and servers will bring it out to you where you sit. The food is ok, nothing with that WOW factor. Calamari were good, crispy and light. The lobster rolls were ok, it had a few large pieces right on-top. The frozen margaritas and pina coladas are strong! However I wish there were more drink options, they have a few canned drinks, and a sangria on the tap. This is the perfect place if you have low expectations for your lobster roll. Tasted like canned cheap lobster. The French fries they use are just awful. Onion rings are your go to if you like the batter to fall off as soon as you touch them. Hate to rip a small business in town but this time it's well deserved. They need to do better. read more

The lobster was ok. Definitely well portioned. The service was fairly quick. I preferred the hot and we tried both which were served on a sweet potato roll nicely toasted on the outside. The place was situated on the side of a fairly busy road by the marinas on New York Avenue off shore road. They have tables outside and lots of beer options. For $24 quality was fair. So, If you're looking for a quick lobster roll fix and some fried fish this could be a good stop. read more

Decor is an afterthought. Tables and condiment shakers were dirty. We ordered the Lobster Mac, Ipswich, Fish and Chips, and Lobster Bisque. The Lobster Bisque had way too much flour added, giving it the texture and thickness of mashed potato. The Ipswich was sandy and greasy. Clearly wasn't cleaned properly. The cheese in the Lobster Mac had no flavor. I think they used the same soup mix they used for the chowder, for the Lobster Mac. Meal was saved by the Fish and Chips, which was actually very good. However the restaurant doesn't carry malt vinegar, which is foolish. Would not come back. read more

Fantastic food, reasonable prices, great local beer and wine selection all in a comfortable atmosphere." I am quoting myself from my original review of their Wantagh location I wrote back in 2019 because I am happy that the owners... gods that be.. or whoever are expanding to new locations here in Huntington and also in East Northport. A notable feat during a pandemic, but I think goes to show what a winning concept they have going on here. This location is even larger than the Wantagh spot with more parking as well. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Staff was very friendly (even though I startled them slightly when I used a seemingly less used rear side entrance - haha sorry!). The food is consistently as good as the Wantagh location - generously stuffed lobster rolls on delicious toasted hot dog bun. I tried the shrimp scampi roll that came stuffed with a half a dozen large perfectly seasoned shrimp. Steamed little neck clams are always a great sharable item with that awesome sauce it comes in (protip: dip your sandwich in the sauce!). I find everything on their menu fantastic - I haven't found a clunker dish yet. All killer no filler. Fountain soda and a large can/bottle beer and wine selection is available. I noticed a couple of draft options also. I would have liked to have seen some Dogfish Head Sea Quench Ale - although not exactly a local option it is favorite of mine. Since I was cheerleader for them in my Wantagh review I will go further here and make a recommendation that hopefully the owners will consider - Come to Queens and open a location in the Rockaways! Overall I thought DJs was just ok. Not sure if I would go back, especially for what everything cost. Vibe: The vibe is casual, and almost a bit cold. We sat outside, which was nice, but it is on a busy road. Free parking in the back is a plus. Service: This was the highlight. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Food: The food in my opinion was hit and miss. I didn't think there was anything so fabulous that I had to go back and have. The onion rings were the best part and I'd give them a solid 4. ($6.00) The chipotle sauce was a nice compliment to the rings. I'd give the Ipswich Clams basket a 3. ($29.00) The breading on the clams was nice and light, but we had several clams with sand grit. The french fries were ok, a bit cold, bland and not crispy. The coleslaw was the best part of the basket. And finally I'd give the Cold Lobster Roll a 3 as well.($24.00) It was a bit heavy on the mayonnaise and I felt was loaded with the rubbery lobster claw tips. Was it horrible, no. Expensive, yes. Talk about horrible management. Placed an order by phone and took over half an hour for far from decent food. fried clams that had breading that was wet and soggy while the clams were inedible. We were in the neighborhood after chartering a boat for water sports. There were plenty of outside and inside dining. We decided to sit outside since it was such a beautiful day. First, you have to go to the register to order your food and it will come out to you. We started with the homemade sangria and homemade New England Clam Chowder. The NE clam chowder was yummy and creamy. The red sangria wasn't too sweet, but I probably won't get again since I like my sangria more sweeter and fruitier. I had the Maine Lobster Roll-cold with homemade coleslaw and my husband had the grilled garlic shrimp roll with coleslaw. The lobster were big pieces and it was very yummy. My husband said that the sauce was all on the bottom with the roll and not enough on the shrimp. I would recommend stopping here for some quick food and the NE clam chowder. read more

Very good cold lobster roll. It doesnt need the celery, but i suppose that is somewhat preference. The roll is a bit bready, but still very good. I still give DJs a high rating. I rate Their lobster rolls high and certainly in the top half, just not quite the top tier lobster roll. Maybe down size the roll a bit and skip the celery. Also ordered clam strips, ok to good just not great. Seems like a breaded and frozen reataurant supply house product. I was kind of expecting fresh clam strips lightly battered and fried from a place with "clam shack" in their name. We have been eating at this place for years. Every year instead of getting better it's a little bit worse. The food runner nearly tripped my wife on the way in. The girl working the register didn't greet us or tell us about any specials. The food was under whelming. Fish tacos were in a flour tortilla and were unauthentic. Huntington Needed a place like this to enjoy a good lobster roll and occasionally clams in a half shell. The food was great and the manager was very very nice. The lobster was amazing and conch fries almost tasted like rolled up crab cakes could of been crispier. I only deduct 1 star because unfortunately of your sitting on the patio your staring at 110. Visited this place for lunch about a week ago. Lobster roll was pretty good. We had it cold but if you want it warmed with just butter, they'll gladly serve it to you that way. Only issue is that this is yet another establishment that hits you for a fee to use your credit card. It's such a shame this is happening more and more. I guess Restaurants don't realize the harm they're doing to their business. Why, because instead of leaving the Establishment thinking only about the quality of the food or the service, there is also now an issue of bookkeeping financial practices, and 'oh my monthly credit card bill ' If a restaurant wishes to have cash as a form of payment (and it's understandable why this would be) they should offer a cash discount and phase out credit card use altogether. Everyone is on the same sheet of music. There are no extra fees sticking you at the end of a meal. It's an Easy remedy and no one feels put upon. hopefully more restaurants will take this route. read more

Casual and unpretentious. Perfect little local spot for some delights from the sea. After a 50 minute wait for our order (ugh!!), I found myself really enjoying a hot lobster roll, fried shrimp, and onion rings. Such a great buttery roll, and an ample amount of lobster for a 24 dollar lobster roll. I can only imagine how packed with lobster the 44 dollar lobster roll must be. But alas, I ain't paying 44 bucks for a lobster roll unless the lobster is a 2 pounder on a bun. P.S.: returned a few weeks later. No wait. Ordered a so so burger with a shrimp thingy and some brewsky. The shrimp was tasty. Best of all. I watched the sunset with my gorgeous wife and felt happy inside and out. What more can you ask for. You better believe it, the worst lobster roll I ever had was in Island Park at a place supposedly dedicated to lobster. Look. I don't know of any other spot in the area that's doing lobster rolls as well as DJ's is, and plenty of people are selling, including spots that advertise as the best lobster rolls in Halesite. Wrong! I haven't tried anything else, so I can't comment on it. I will say this, no one has clams as good as Bigelow's, so there's that. But for all the one-star haters here, no one has suggested an alternative, better place than DJ's. I'll start. Whale's Tale or The Shack for fish tacos (esp The Shack, worth the price). Or maybe Gourmet Whaler in CSH. I'm giving 5 stars for my experience, for those of you who had bad experiences, I'm sorry that it was 1 out of 5 bad, 20% kinda bad. When you approached the manager to voice your concerns, what was the response? That would be helpful to note. We wondered why this place wasn't more popular We tried DJ's again today, again the place was empty but we knew that we were going to enjoy the food. I had the Lobster Roll with a side of sweet potato fries, we shared the baked clams and my wife loved her shrimp tacos. We travel for great food and we live at least 20 miles from a DJ's but well worth the trip, as we were leaving we asked the girls working, why this place was empty ( except for another couple) who joined our conversation about the quality of food here. I just had the best lobster roll south of Cape Cod! This lobster roll was stuffed with tender and moist claws, no knuckles, no fillet, just plenty of succulent lobster claws. The bun that it is served on must be specially made for them because it's not a run-of-mill hot dog bun or hero. This bread is fresh and buttery that is toasted perfectly and holds up very well to all the lobster. I also ordered the French fries that came hot and just enough crunch to go well with the lobster roll. Even the coleslaw that comes with the order is very good with just the right amount of Mayo.
