Really glad this place opened up in my neighborhood. Great spot when you want a snack and nothing too heavy to eat. I love the Crab Onigiri. Something I notice is the wait can be longer than expected, around 15 minutes because they make everything fresh. The wrapping can be tricky but once you understand how it works, it's super easy. The service has always been very kind.

I had to check this place out after finding out about them on instagram. Onigiri and other Taiwanese foods? Challenge accepted. I like that you can order the mystery onigiri and that the price point for all of their food is great. I'd love to go in-person but did delivery this time. The onigiri arrived with the rice still warm and fresh. The tea egg was amazing too. I'll definitely be eating more of their food in the future.

Chicken teriyaki: not overly sweet, nice and umami with a touch of ginger. Miso soup was the perfect pairing and get the combo for a good deal. They really nailed the flavors here, I'll be back to try more! One of the rare spots in SF to get a filling meal for $10.

Do-Re-Mi is my favorite onigiri shop! When I asked the owner which onigiri was the best, she told me that everyone has different favorites depending on their taste and that every flavor is delicious. All of their onigiri are made in a homemade style with great attention to quality. At first, I thought she was just trying to get me to buy more onigiri, but in the end, I decided to order all of their recommended flavors! I also ordered drinks. The owner recommended the Chrysanthemum Tea because it's caffeine-free and great for kids. I also ordered the Thai Tea and Hong Kong Lemon Tea, and they were all delicious. Many of my friends asked where I ordered everything from, which was very different from my kids' previous birthday parties. I was so happy that everyone loved the food and drinks. I picked up my order at 10:00 AM, and all of the onigiri were still warm and freshly made. I first discovered Do-Re-Mi on Instagram and decided to order catering for my 7-year-old son's birthday party at the park. It was a huge hit! I received so many compliments from my friends, and everyone loved the onigiri. They were the perfect food for both kids and adults. The owner was incredibly kind and thoughtful. They labeled all of the onigiri for us, which made everything so much easier. The kids had so much fun figuring out how to unwrap them, and some of my guests chose the mystery onigiri. I ordered a couple of mystery onigiri, and every single one was different and absolutely delicious! Based on the feedback from the other parents, they were amazing--but I didn't even get a chance to try one because they were gone within minutes! The onigiri made my son's birthday party extra special and memorable. Highly recommend Do-Re-Mi for catering, parties, or just a tasty meal. We'll definitely be ordering again!

Ok yeah that was incredibly beast. Pretty good prices, got the tea egg which was actually sooo yummy. Only thing I would say was it was a little extra saucy which I usually like, but that's how you know it's very very saucy

Visited on a Saturday around 12:30pm, no wait, so was able to add my order to the kiosk quickly and easily. Food: Eel Onigiri - good, good amount of eel to rice, eel was tender, fatty with the nice sweet and savory unagi sauce, sushi rice was tender and perfectly cooked, this was individually wrapped with the peel away packaging that kept the nori sheets nice and crisp and applied to all the onigiri i ordered Tuna Onigiri - solid, tuna mayo was pretty standard, also good ratio of filling to sushi rice, wish there was a little bit more umami notes to this but a solid choice if you like tuna Crab Onigiri - good, crab meat was similar to the type you get in a California roll, finely shredded mixed with a touch of mayo, a little sweet and a little savory Taiwanese pork - good, ground pork was well seasoned, tasted a little sweet, with nice soy sauce notes and a touch of white pepper, good amount of filling to rice, this combo worked really well in the onigiri format Miso soup - good, generous amount of seaweed, and a few pieces of soft tofu, served nice and hot, not too salty with a pleasant miso flavor Service was excellent, they were running a special buy 4 onigiri get 1 free, I accidently split my order up and placed one for 3 pieces, and one for 1 piece, they added the soup complimentary to make up for it which the definitely didn't need but a great touch of hospitality. Food also was prepared right when i ordered and took maybe 5 minutes. Overall really enjoyed Do-re-mi, a great affordable onigiri spot in the Mission. Definitely worth a visit, would happily come back to pick up food for a picnic in Dolores Park or if I'm looking for a quick bite in the Mission. Space is small with counter seating for about 6 people, it's clean and tidy if you want to eat in.

Really cute spot for made-to-order onigiris! I came to grab a mid-afternoon snack to bring for friends and got the salmon, crab and Taiwanese pork onigiri. My favorite had to be the Taiwanese pork onigiri that was sweet and savory with a generous amount of ground pork. The salmon was good as well, such a classic and I wasn't sure about the crab as it was almost too creamy for my liking but if you're looking for more of a crab dip filling, it's nice and smooth with a sweeter flavor than the salmon. Ordering is easy via kiosk and our orders were ready quickly. Definitely a great lighter meal or snack that feels homemade and fresh.

[Me vibin' to the millennial bops here.....Ms. Jackson by OutKast, Diva by Beyoncé.....'eeey. ;))) ] Warm, made-to-order onigiri! Yes yes, no crusty-old rice with freshness-questionable (maybe even borderline spoiled) filling here. Highly recommend the salmon one; super flavorful! The Taiwanese pork one could've had more pork, but still very succulent pork. The honey chrysanthemum tea had a tad too much honey, but still refreshing in sips. A kind staff member also provided a complimentary cup of miso soup while I was eating here! Quite soothing miso soup. :) Chill bodega vibes with indoor stool seating.

Cute made-to-order onigiri spot. Great place to grab a light lunch or snack. They even had a holiday deal of buy 4 get 1 free! Each has furikake mixed into the rice and a nice layer of meat throughout (unlike most places where the protein is just in the direct middle) -Taiwanese pork: sweet and savory flavors, my personal favorite -Garlic beef: has garlic chips that compliment the saucy beef -Salmon: a classic, always good Pretty fast service and theres a few counter seats to sit at.

The Mission District has been having lots of different types of stores come and go over the years. There are lots of restaurants along Valencia street which are here one day and gone the next. In between Valencia and Mission street on 19th street there is a place which took over the former Boba Guys location which serves drinks and makes hand made rice balls. It's music to my ears and it's called " Do- Re- Mi. Inside Do- Re- Mi there is a kiosk with a digital menu with items like Taiwanese Mince Pork Ricebowl, Hong Kong Style House Curry Fishballs, and Japanese style Sushi Bake. I had to try the Taiwanese Pork Onigiri. It was very tasty and savory. I then had to wash it down with the Berry Fruit tea which was a bit sweet but was refreshing and flavorful. I had to try the ice cream. I got a scoop of mango and vanilla which were delicious and hit the spot. Overall a good place to enjoy a dessert and some finger foods with some inside and outside seating. Do-Re -Mi hits the note and the "verse " without the need to "curse" it does it by offering refreshing drinks and hitting the spot when you "thirst" next time I am in the area if I crave some rice ball or rice bowl this is the place I go "first " The rice balls are handmade in the Mission so they "make "onigiri and a sushi "bake" and go on an ice cream "break" and the food sings to me like Do - Re - Mi , their restaurant "namesake"

Let's start at the very beginning A very good place to start When you read, you begin with A-B-C When you sing, you begin with Do-Re-Mi (Do-Re-Mi) The first three notes just happen to be Do-Re-Mi (Do-Re-Mi) Do-Re-Mi-Fa-So-La-Ti... Oh dear... When it comes to new businesses, I'm not the early bird that catches the worm. No, I let other Yelpers, likely the younger, anxious ones, tell me if this snack shop would be worthwhile. This one received kudos for their onigiri (rice balls). While Taiwanese pork and chili pickled radish sounded enticing, I've been restrictive about my carb intake so I can fit into my pants. I'll try a rice ball or three sometime in the near-future. Meanwhile, on my virginal visit, I tried the $5 Hong Kong Lemon Tea (Photo 8). I found its light sweetness pleasantly evocative of the old-school coffee shops we discovered in Hong Kong last year. I came back a couple of weeks later and went for a $3.80 scoop of Mango Ice Cream, a tropically refreshing snack in the middle of the afternoon (Photo 6). There's limited counter seating for those not in grab-n-go mode. I took advantage because it provided a nice respite from the heat. I look forward to one of their rice bowls if I get over my carb phobia. Unagi eel is available after all. So-Do-La-Fa-Me-Do-Re. So-Do-La-Ti-Do-Re-Do! When you know the notes to sing, You can sing most anything! Together! REFRESHMENT - 4 stars...tea and ice cream are good, rice comes later AMBIANCE - 4 stars...sunny set-up off Mission SERVICE - 4 stars...friendly TOTAL - 4 stars...Do, a deer, a female deer... set my expectations high and that's on me fo shore. I ordered the salmon, pork, beef, crab and chicken teriyaki. went all out. Also tried the berry tea per recommendation of the reviews. I would pay slightly more like 4.50 if they added like 30% more filling. this is a true ball o rice if I ever saw one. the rice to filling ratio is just a bit too much rice for my preference. Fillings are basic. ground beef and ground pork. normal california roll crab I believe ? my rank: crab salmon pork chicken beef I like the way they are wrapped. the berry tea was a bit too sweet for me. The cute little cat drawing was really cute. The onigiris are comparable to a premade one from mitsuwa or the likes but made fresh and slightly less filling, but better tasting. I ordered on the Ipad wasn't very busy and got my order in 10 minutes ish. Nice grab and go for the park. not bad. I like better than onigilly.

This place is a cute small restaurant mainly for to-go orders, but it also has some limited seating inside. This is not your typical onigiri spot, but rather it is a fusion with Taiwanese flavors. I ordered a garlic beef onigiri and a pork onigiri and they did not disappoint! I honestly got full off of the two onigiri and they were very flavorful. My favorite was the garlic beef because of the crunchy fried garlic bits. The staff was also super friendly and gave me a free miso soup on the side. I would definitely come back again for another quick bite. This is a great place to get food to-go and bring to your next picnic!

Filipino-Japanese fusion has been a tried and true combination, including my boyfriend and I's relationship (ba dum tss). However, Ox and Tiger have MASTERED the fusion aspect. Ox and Tiger is an intimate dining experience, with 8 seats, and gorgeous plating, menu, and cute chopstick rests! Comes with 3 courses with an additional 4th add-on. They also have a drinking menu, and they noted that the menu changes every 2 months (every even month!) EJ is such a wonderful story teller, and Hitomi (who created the menu for the month of May) had a great twist on everyday classics in Japanese cuisine. As the dishes were prepared and presented, EJ would tell the backstory on the dish(es), a personal note about each, and Hitomi's take on it to sweeten the deal. As soon as the experience starts, EJ tells us that the doors will be locked to prevent any distractions from outside (aka if you're late, you're outta luck), but we were encouraged to go outside for air if necessary. (I tried taking these notes on the food while EJ was talking about each dish so bear with me). ESL lunch The backstory was that Hitomi loved caesar salad while going to school in America, so she created a "perfect bite" with a Japanese twist to it. The word "gomoku" literally translates to "5 ingredients," to which I was only able to remember 2 of 5 of the vegetables, which were snappeas and roasted beets, with quinoa and tinapa (smoked fish). The fish that was used wae a cured Spanish makerel. T.A.M.M.Y I wish I remembered the words for this, but this is actually Hitomi's English name when she moved to the states. The acronym aspect was for the class at the time to think of ways to learn to like their name (each letter was a positive attribute and I can't remember what EJ said). The backstory to this was that Hitomi, being born and raised in Japan, was actually the biggest fan of California roll - did not like traditional sushi (or raw fish for that matter). - T.A.M.M.Y. is Hitomi's take on that. This was monk fish, with the fish scraps dipped into dashi sauce and kyuri (Japanese cucumber). In other words, no part of the fish was wasted in the making of this dish (in true Japanese AND Filipino fashion). This also had pinipig (granola-like topping glazed in shoyu) [Shoyu = soy sauce] Omiotsuke Now this is where I was blown away. First of all, I did not know what the hell this word was in English, but I watched every part of this dish being prepared and was even more confused when it was presented as dessert. When EJ started explaining, it made all the sense in the world. There is a tofu skin roll, vanilla ice cream, a mushroom topping, cherry miso compote concoction (this is where I butchered the exact creation - this is where the flavor was distracting me from what it actually was). Did you notice the ingredients? What is one thing one will eat at any Japanese restaurant, almost as a courtesy/complimentary item? Omiotsuke is, as polite as one could possibly say, is miso soup. This is Hitomi's take on miso soup, the flavor was spot on. I never thought to pair dashi-like flavors with ice cream (there is already shoyu with vanilla ice cream, but this was a flavor sensation). EJ was so kind when my boyfriend and I admitted we came for an anniversary, and we even got to see his reaction when we said we were also Japanese/Filipino (I'm also an Ox, but no Tigers here). They took this lovely photo of us to commemorate the evening, which sits on our fridge to this day. Again, gochiso-salamat :) to EJ and staff! We hope to come back soon.

Each of the dishes were deconstructions of familiar concepts such as Caesar salad and a California roll, but enhanced with new flavors. The mackerel was sublime, perfectly charred exterior with a still raw interior. The monkfish was tender, coated in a ginger, wasabi sauce next to crispy sweet rice and avocado. The dessert was by far the most unique, being a miso dashi, mushroom cherry coated coconut ice cream with a tupig-like mochi on the side. The savory, sweet, sour combination completely catches you off guard but becomes increasingly addictive the more you eat. So bold and absolutely memorable. Ox&Tiger takes familiar concepts, breaks them apart, then fuses them back together with a flair of Filipino and Japanese flavors. This results in dishes that are utterly unique and innovative. The steak sandwich was absolutely phenomenal, with the steak seasoned and cooked to perfection and pairing beautifully with the charred onion aioli, plus a side of expertly crisped smashed potatoes that were so addicting. The steamed mussels were sumptuous and packed with umami, and I loved the two large bricks of toasted sourdough focaccia that were perfect for sopping up every last bit of the delicious dashi broth. Sadly I had to settle for Hot and Sour Soup, Wonton soup, Pork Xiao Long Bao 8 Pcs, Chicken Xiao Long Bao 8 Pcs, (8Pcs) Pork Dumpling with Sesame Sauce and Red Chili Oil (6Pcs), Numb & spicy pork Bao, Green Onion Pancake, (Sweet) Red Bean Paste Pockets. We had it family style. The 3 of us shared it all. There was plenty to go around. None of us left hungry. I can't even pick a favorite. Maybe the numb and spicy which wasn't that spicy. It was just so good and flavorful. The soup dumplings were amazing. So much perfect flavor. They held together until the bite. So good. The hot and sour soup was plenty tasty. Not the best I've ever had but certainly among the best. The only thing I will say is that one of my companions can't have seaweed. The wonton soup was amazing but full of seaweed. It wasn't listed on the menu and we have never had seaweed in any other wonton soup so didn't know to ask if it could be left out. That was sad. All she could do was have a tiny spoon of the broth to taste it. The green onion pancake was very good. The red bean paste pockets use the same dough but filled with sweet red bean paste. They were a perfect way to end the meal. Next time I'm in the city I will visit again. Loved it all. It was worth taking the time to visit and eat there.

Dumpling Story is what I've heard to be Dumpling Home's aesthetic counterpart (sister restaurants)…read more The interior is definitely aesthetic, featuring a bright, modern, minimalist exterior. Menu is relatively the same as Dumpling Home featuring my faves like the numb and spicy XLB and the sheng jian bao. Both very delicious! The remainder of the dishes we got were also good. I will say the green beans left me wanting a bit more from it. But overall, my party had a nice, fulfilling meal. Dumpling Home will always be my favorite (still prefer it a TINY bit), but because there is less of a crowd, service was amazing! I definitely wouldn't mind coming back considering there the difference in wait time to Dumpling Home.

Happy hour at Chome is the best! They have an early happy hour 5-5:45 and late night HH. Make sure…read moreto get here early since it fills up fast. Sashimi here is fresh and delicious. Skewers are solid. And the pineapple beer a fan favorite. Regular menu items here are also very good, especially the aburi salmon and ramen. This location is much nicer and at a better location than when they were in mission street, but current location has much less foot traffic. Definitely a hidden gem so get out here already!

Shoutout to the lady who worked all of front-of-house, she is a boss. She was our hostess, server, ran food, and bused tables. All the while, checking in on us often and letting us know when things were on the way so we didn't feel forgotten. Food is all small plate shareables. Our one entree was the pork cheek fried rice. Maybe it was just what we ordered but I felt like everything was really oily/greasy. The freshest items were the negitoro roll and the potato salad they gave to us at the start for free. Yes, it's an izakaya, but we found ourselves struggling to continue eating the plates since it felt so heavy. Sure, maybe we didn't order the right stuff, but lots of the menu items are deep fried, stir-fried, or grilled also. We enjoyed the cumin lamb skewers and the negitoro the best! We were disappointed in the truffle poppers as each bite was more filled with fried breading than mushrooms. The dessert was beautiful and we did enjoy that. We ended up paying like 100pp including tax and tip. There are many Japanese izakayas I can pay less for in San Francisco including a la carte at Rintaro! But anyways, shoutout to the hostess lady, she's a boss.
