Went in for Oil change and safety inspection. They advised me how bad my wheels were out of alignment. All went quite well.

Extremely horrible customer service. The "manager" or at least that is what he kept saying he was is rude and has no understanding of his own system?!?! I was charged $270.00 when I was suppose to be charged $36 for a safety and emissions inspection. When I called the next day to request a refund he first told me I was incorrect on the charge when I could clearly see it on my bank account then proceeded to tell me that if I wanted a refund I had to come in person?? When he clearly was not taking the time to help or listen to me I knew it would be best to end the phone call. I waited to see if maybe the charge would fall off since I was "incorrect" on the charge and come three days later it fulling processed out of my account. This time when I called he actually believed me becaue long behold it happened to another customer and now since it happened to another customer they magically could refund the card over the phone.........we will never use this location again. I should have known something was off when the wenztville location was three weeks booked out and this location was sameday. I really hope they find the management they need and turn it around for furture customers. read more

Definitely compelled to write a review as I'm overly excited about the work at Dobbs. My car needed..pause for effect...a catalytic converter! OMG, no! I was excited that Dobbs, 1) beat the dealership price by $500 and 2) did the work same day vs 5 days quoted by the dealer. I arrived at Dobbs, unannounced, at 7a on a Monday and they said, no problem. I got a call later that day giving me the cost and away they went. My car was ready by 4:30p for pick-up. The only 2 reasons this review isn't a 5 is because their complimentary ride service doesn't start until 8a vs their open time and then also, the Yelp Check-in coupon was only honored up to $100 vs the full 15% on the coupon. Don't get me wrong, I was appreciative for the $100 discount, but if the coupon says 15%, it would have great to have the full 15% honored. IJS Anywho, enjoy Dobbs! read more

I'm disappointed to read some of these reviews. I have been coming to this particular Dobb's location for well over five years. I am a firm believer in quality, value, and exceptional customer service. I have never received anything less from this team. Mater of fact my visit to day the team went above and beyond to ensure I was taken care of and back on my way in no time. I am a single woman and have always felt uncomfortable having my car serviced. I've been pressured into services I did not need or fear mongered for not getting a particular service or product. I've never once had this happen to me here. If there has been an issue with my vehicle, it was presented in layman's terms and I could do what I wanted with the information. I'm in like clockwork every three months for an oil change and tire rotation. I do a tremendous amount of driving and want to keep issues from becoming big problems. These guys DO NOT understand good customer service.!!!! My daughters car had a tire that had gone flat with two nails in it. I needed to get it fixed for her before I traveled out of town early the next morning. All I needed was someone to repair the tire and remount the tire, and place the factory spare back where it belonged. Despite the fact that we had spent $1700 with Dobbs on my wife's car the week prior, they told me that they were absolutely too busy to get to my problem this evening. Guess what? If a business can only help me out when I'm shelling out $1700 ..... and not when I'm in a fix, they don't get my business anymore!!! So - I went to the Firestone store. THOSE GUYS understood my situation, and worked me in with the rest of their work. I was in and out in less than 45 minutes. And the charge was only about 20 bucks. Moving forward, FIRESTONE will be our store of choice - NOT DOBBS!!! read more

I was halfway home to Chicagoland and there was a rattle noise from my tire which in the past had been a rock rolling around in the breaks. They got me in, even though I told them I was traveling through. They didn't dismiss my theory about what was going on. They rode with me to hear the noise and got me right in even though the garage and parking lot were full. It was a rock. I was on the road again within 45 minutes. They were great. They got my tire replaced much faster than the quoted time while I waited, even though they were extremely short on employees. I didn't even have an appointment. I walked in at 7:00 am; right when they opened them an that I assume is a manager was extremely helpful and provided amazing customer service. It was an all around great experience. read more

Do not buy tires from Dobbs because the 'road hazard' doesn't cover curb damage. Buy from Sam's or other companies with full road hazard.

I've been to this location 3 times, all for tire-related services. I've bought new tires here twice over the past few years. They've been completely honest and friendly to me. I've been able to drop off my car and get it back later completed with the work I wanted. They even dropped me off at work as a courtesy while I waited for my car. Based on the fact that I've never had a bad experience here, I would still recommend Dobbs, especially if you happen to get one of their promotional coupon vouchers in to make things a bit cheaper. I'm giving it 4 stars just because of time management. Sometimes they can get a bit backed up and miss an estimated completion time (such as your car being ready at 2 PM instead of Noon, for example). They've never forced an upsell or tried to get me to have work done that I didn't need. I don't know what happened to any of the other reviewers, but that is not what I experienced. Seems to be a disproportionate amount of negative reviews here. People only write reviews when they're displeased rather than happy. read more

This was absolutely, hands down, the best car repair experience. I'm hesitant to trust repair shops as I was taken advantage of before being an uneducated consumer. The staff is so helpful, friendly and accommodating. They even gave me a ride home and picked me up when my car was done. Had a 5pm appt for an oil change, I got there at 5 til. At 4:40 I walked out of the waiting room and saw my car in the garage with hood down. 5 minutes later the mgr walks in and says they're "wrapping up". As I'm paying he tells me I need new tires. 1 tire has 6000miles on it the rest less than 13000. All purchased last summer. I now am questioning of they even changed my oil. I'll NOT be giving this place my business again. They said my tires were all down to the tread wear line. I walked around and touched each of those tires and can still tell which one has the lowest mileage. They are a ripoff team here. Again, I'll not return and I'll tell everyone I know this story as well. Also note, I'm 48, I don't drive a hot rod, iys a Japanese luxury crossover that I baby. I don't do burnouts. Aside from the speed of the service, the experience was less than satisfactory, and the speed may have actually contributed to the problem. I was having a car inspected from the Lou Fusz dealership down the street to see if there was any significant issues I needed to be aware of before making the purchase. After they performed the inspection they told me it was in great shape and that nothing needed to be done. It is less than a year later now and I am having repairs done on the vehicle that started developing over 2 years ago according to my mechanic. Had I known about this before making my purchase I would have avoided the vehicle all together. My advice, go to another mechanic. read more

It was time for new tires on my Mazda CX-5, and we made an appointment with this Dobbs location because of the great reviews that we read on Google and Yelp, and the Dobbs team there did not disappoint! Mike, Pat, and Paul were very nice and helpful, and I got the tires that I wanted. I had to go back the next day so that they could adjust the tire balancing, and Paul had it done for me within the first 30 minutes I was waiting there, although my appt. time was later. Got an oil change and an inspection on my 2016. I noticed after I got my car back that I have oil leaking in my garage. No problem right... Go down and have them tighten oil filer, oil plug etc. So I go in and the guy at the counter tells me they don't have time to fix it, he seemed to not care one bit that they didn't do their job right. He said that I would have to leave my car there and he said it would take more than an hour once they started working. I have no idea what planet they are on where they can't provide reasonable service to make things right with a customer, probably would have taken them 5-10 minutes to tighten things up. But their complete lack of professionalism or care about their own work will stop me from ever doing business with them again. read more

Took my car to Dobb's in O'Fallon. Told them to do a check on things before my son takes it back to school. Specifically I asked to check out tie rod, drive axel and to check and see if it needed an alignment. Called with an estimate to change transmission fluid (146.95), clean engine (119.95 and replace spark plugs (over $400). Well that is all good and well except my husband just changed plugs recently and the air filter. Pat on the phone was snippy with me when I told him we just recently changed the air filter. I went to pick up the car and they had not checked for front end alignment or checked for tie rod and drive axel but willingly charged me $30.95 to check the car out. I was not happy and said that to the manager. Nobody seemed to care. I decided to call Jerry the manager again when I got home to say I felt he should have only charged me half of the $30.95 due to the fact they only did half a job. He then told me I was lucky because they did not charge me $124 for the transmission diagnostic. I said I did not authorize a transmission diagnostic. He then told me they did it and were waiting for me to call back about the estimate before they continued on. I brought up the fact that even though I had not given the ok to do the work they quoted I still needed to know if a front end alignment was needed and if there was anything wrong with the tie rod or axel. They did not seem to have any care in the world that they had an upset customer that just purchased a set of tires 3 weeks ago and daughter purchased a set last week. Well guess what Dobb's that is the last money you will see from me!!!!! read more

Needed a muffler and tailpipe replacement on our 22 year old Caravan with 180K plus miles. We had purchased it new in 1996, and, obviously, it was not the first time we had to have the muffler and tailpipe replaced. This time I had been rear ended in 2016, they were damaged in the collision, and later broke loose. Love the Blues, and decided to give Dobbs a shot, because the Blues have them as a sponsor. Had never used Dobbs before at any location, and the place I usually take our van to for service had a several day waiting period. WHAT A MISTAKE! I will admit that my own ignorance and foolish trust contributed to it. After dropping the van off, I returned home. Shortly thereafter I received a call from Dobbs telling me that the resonator had also broken loose and had to be replaced. Unfortunately, I didn't know what a resonator was and figured it had to be someplace in front of the muffler. Behind the muffler was only the tailpipe. If I'd been smart, I'd have asked what it would cost extra and where it was located. Then I should have told him not to do anything until he showed me what he was talking about, and I should have driven back to see for myself. If I didn't want to do this, I should have told him to at least save the parts off our van to see when I picked it up. I now know that a resonator essentially replaces the tailpipe and costs about twice what the muffler and tailpipe together cost. It also adversely affects your gas mileage without proper adjustments. Consequently, I ended up paying nearly $500 for a job that should have run between $150 and $200. The van isn't even worth that much, although it's in pretty good condition for its age and has served us well. Of course, we had always taken it to reputable service providers. I no longer consider Dobbs to fall into this category. My advice to anyone considering Dobbs for service is "do so at your own risk, and DON'T trust Dobbs!" like I foolishly did. Our family and friends will not do business with them if I have anything to say about it. GO BLUES!!! DUMP DOBBS!!! read more

I had a check engine light on, went to Dobbs. I swear the guy said $25 for the diagnostic test. Left and called a few other places where I was quoted anywhere from $60 to $120 - along with ridiculous explanations that these tests take over an hour sometimes (in order to justify the charge). HA! I do computers for a living, it takes 3 hours to down load things sometimes but we sure don't have anyone sit and WATCH the download for 3 hours! Anyway, end up going back to Dobbs and was told $125 for the diagnostic. WHAT? OK, maybe I heard wrong. They run the test and its the fuel pump. I have a warranty from Carmax, but I am told they don't take any warranties from Carmax. Call Carmax, I will have to pay them $120 to run the test again, since they wont take Dobbs test (sigh). But they tell me the warranty is a 3rd party and Dobbs should take it. Call back, and they finally decide to call the warranty folks (initially wanted me to do it). Turns out they will take warranty. The car got fixed the same day even though I was convinced it was not going to happen in one day, but I was happy to have my car for work the next day. Price was close to $1200, warranty paid $700 (hmmm, seems a lot like Obamacare there, hardly covers anything), but I digress. I think they did a decent job, got it done in one day, not sure if the price is over the top or not but assuming it is okay since the warranty company paid all but the deductible, diagnostic test, and an oil change. They were polite and professional and I got my car back after one day so they get 3 stars because the pick up service was not available due to short a man and 'weather' that was going to start in an hour...but never came and I am still not convinced they first guy $25. $125 is the highest of 6 different stores and completely over the top though. read more

Worst customer service ever, we are NEVER taking our vehicles to Dobbs ever again! It's a Saturday and they called to tell us my car was ready at 6:40pm, they close at 7pm. We rushed up there made it at right about 6:50pm, they wouldn't take my husband's check because we had already taken out our daily max and we didn't realize that, that would effect writing a check. We have more then enough money in the bank and showed the man our account online and asked him if he could hold it until the next day and then run it because I need my car for work on Monday and they are closed on Sunday. He refused and didn't have a care in the world about how this will effect us come Monday, so we asked if he could wait for us to run home and get my check book for a separate account, he said they would be gone by the time we would get back. On top of it all we have spent $1600 there in the past 4 days and still not a valued customer!! This is the most ridiculous place we have ever used and I will tell everyone I know about our experience and warn them to stay away from these inconsiderate people they call employees at Dobbs tire and auto!! read more

All I can say about Dobbs is RIPOFF. My wife had a slow leak in her back tire and we took it to Dobbs to get it plugged. After dropping it off, they called back and informed us that the tire leak was caused by a bent rim. The only way to fix it was to replace the whole tire (rim and all) - and after this and that, labor etc, we were looking at over 300 dollars! So we took the car to Childs Tire in O'fallon. They fixed the leak in 15 minutes for 12 dollars! That was 4 years ago, never had a problem since. read more

I'm absolutely positive this place tinkers With cars to mess up later. Never again will I go here. Ever. You'd think after years of the consistent f-ups I'd learn. I finally did. I came here for a suspension issue, and a couple days later my power steering failed miserably on the highway. I take my car to shops like this to determine what's wrong and then take it to our family mechanic to fix. After the power steering mishap which I had to manhandle from Fenton to Lake St. Louis, I go directly to my mechanic and stay in his garage with him. He takes off all the tires to review and finds that there is a bolt loosened (held power steering hose in place). He is completely mind blown, because he knows for a fact that whoever touched my car last intentionally loosened that bolt. I was with him the entire time as always, because he likes to show me where my auto problems are and to pinpoint and explain them. Well, as I had just stated...Dobbs was the last place to touch my vehicle and will never ever again. read more

Do not go to this place! I am 8 months pregnant and brought my suv in for service and I asked them when I made the appt (that morning for the afternoon) if they could take me back to my home because the website offered shuttle service within 5 miles. I live 2 miles away. I get there and after requesting the shuttle service I was told by the front desk man, Jeremy, that they were short handed with someone on vacation and they could not take me. So I said I guess I will walk home. On my way home I called my husband at work and he was upset they didnt take me home so he called them and spoke with Jeremy who then lied and said they told me they could take me home but I would have to wait. If they would have said that I would have had no problem with waiting. Like I said its sept and its hot and I am 8 months pregnant. Jeremy calls me and tries to tell me I must not have heard him say that to which I respond with my hearing is just fine and he NEVER offered for me to wait for a shuttle he said they couldnt do it. Im honestly not sure how they do on repairing my suv because we told them not to fix it and we will be picking the suv up. I wouldnt let someone from that place touch my suv after such poor customer service! Shame on you!! read more

Outside of the Store Manager Nathan, who was exceedingly professional and nice, this is a horrible place to take your car. I went there for front brakes because I could not get the rotor off myself and since it's my daily driver, I needed the car the next day for work. Ordinarily I would have taken this to my regular mechanic, but we momved out to O'Fallon recently and he's in South St. Louis County. They called after I dropped it off and said that I was also in need of struts because mine were leaking in addition to telling me that it was going to be $400 for front brakes. I explained to the guy that I had the car apart as well and I didn't see anything leaking from anywhere but he insisted that the strut was not functioning properly and was just shy of demanding that it be fixed after arguing with me that I didn't need it. So I made the drive to South County to have my mechanic look at it. He told me that he would gladly fix it, but that it didn't need to be fixed and listed the price at around $800.00. After about a week of driving on the new brakes, they began to squeal badly. Since at Dobbs it's fixed forever, I took it back and they told me that they fixed it by turning my rotors because there was a film on there. So now I had partially worn new front rotors. The minute I drove off the lot there was a vibration while braking and the squealing of course came back. I brought it back again and insisted that everything be replaced, which they did. When I picked it up, the guy asked me to sign a form which appeared to be a receipt and which had a total on it. I asked what the total was for and he said "did I ask you for any money?" Instead of flipping out in the store and causing a scene, I figured it would be more appropriate/effective/informative to write an accurate account of how unprofessional and rude the guys are up there. Don't waste your money going to this place. Spend the time and money at a shop that you trust and don't bother with Dobbs because it is a joke. read more
