Walking around Old Town, my boyfriend and I wanted something other than Mexican dishes and straight ahead was Doc Holliday's! We were able to get a booth and they seated us pretty quickly. We didn't realize it was their soft opening weekend, super nice bar/lounge. The waiter/waitress we had were great and they were getting quite a bit of traffic but were so incredibly friendly. They could probably use a busser on busier nights as they were cleaning tables, setting up tables, and taking orders. They were still on point. The only thing was they did turn down the lights when we arrived; very minimal lighting for the menu and food. There was a lantern we moved around. My boyfriend mentioned the music was slightly loud and kept asking to repeat myself but it was a bar- it didn't bother me as I can hear well. They had a ribeye special (with mashed potatoes, carrots and broccolini) that was phenomenal and the portions and prices were fantastic. We split the special and had the dirty fries (Thousand island dressing, cheese, meat) and truffle fries and we were STUFFED. The waitress recommended a milkshake and the only thing I regret was not getting one to go! Will be coming back to try the rest of the menu. Pictures don't do it justice with the lighting. read more

Happened on this place following a ghost tour of Old San Diego and had an overall terrific experience. It's a cozy bar with friendly staff, and they make a delicious smashburger (and fries) for a very reasonable price. Nice selection of house cocktails, too. A tiny nitpick, and not one that affects the score, but as much as I like saloon-style doors, they let both cold air and secondhand smoke in. read more

We LOVE Doc's! We are frequent flyers when we want to do a family old town morning, or evening actually! The service is amazing, Tajae and Oliva were rockstars. Our 3 year old daughter loves them. The food is always good, our daughter loves the breakfast there, but we tried the fish and chips and she really liked it. Brunch is my fave, but the wings and rolled tacos were delicious. Very interested in trying the spaghetti next time. The ambience is super cool, and old time saloon and you can people watch. Bathrooms are really clean. Definitely suggest taking your family for brunch or dinner before walking around, or even just a date night for drinks. read more

First off Maile our server was the kindest most sweetest person and made us feel so welcome. She treated us like we've been friends for years and helped us with anything we had questions on. The inside of the establishment looks clean and had cool old timey trinkets to look at. And lastly the smashburger was one of my favorites in San Diego. Walked in during soft opening, we were greeted by TJ who welcomed us and helped us make the decision about trying the food. 7 ordered the corned beef hash and eggs, OMG homemade for sure and delicious. My husband ordered the garden omelette and wow so flavorful. TJ is so knowledgeable about the menu. I asked for salsa and I was blown away with the red and green salas TJ brought. Coffee was good, tried "Here comes the sun" cocktail YUMM. Portions are large, food is so good. Will definitely come back and have already recommended to several friends. They did not disappoint absolutely the best I have ever had. My husband loved the Kate's Kiss cocktail ( grapefruit and whiskey unexpected and unbelievably good) and I had the Guns & Roses cocktail ( Cherry Coke syrup and Lucardo Cherry ..Wow). Fun fact they serve breakfast until early afternoon the whole area is walkable and this establishment is centrally located close to everything lots of places to find parking. The staff there is absolutely amazing and the service is top level. Ambiance is perfect, truly step back in time (merch is awesome too-got the gold letter embossed glass flask and copper shot glasses) Fun fact we had paid our check and we're getting ready to walk out and my husband pulled me back over to the bar so we could have one more round of cocktails before we left that's just how good it was and the bartender was outstanding. This review is strictly about the service, as we left before even trying the food. We were genuinely excited to try this new restaurant and made a reservation since we were not sure how busy it would be on a weekend. When we arrived, it was not busy at all. There was a sign at the front that said seat yourself, so we chose a booth. Two people were behind the bar, a man and and a woman, when we walked in. Neither acknowledged us. No hello, no welcome, no indication that we should seat ourselves. We sat down and waited for someone to come by. After a few minutes, other guests walked in and seated themselves. The two staff members came out from behind the bar and began helping tables. The man was closing out a fairly busy table. The female grabbed menus and, although we assumed she was coming to us, she went to tables that had sat after us. That was not a huge issue. We understand things happen. What crossed the line was when she finally came to our table. Another table briefly stopped her to ask a quick question, which she answered. Then she walked over to us, dropped the menus on the table without saying a word, and immediately walked away. No hello, no welcome, no apology for the wait. At that point we decided to leave. As we were walking out, the same server made direct eye contact with me and gave a look as if she could not believe we were leaving. Still no communication. Just an unwelcoming expression. Given that this location is not in a particularly busy area, I would strongly suggest focusing on service. There is no reason for people to drive out of their way to visit a spot like this if they are going to feel ignored and unwelcome from the moment they walk in. Kind of feels like a bait and switch. Went for my son's 30th bday, made a reservation (which they didn't have even though we went thru open table) but after one drink and the menu being way less items and more expensive we went somewhere else to eat. Service - Very good and attentive Ambience and theme - very fun. Great spot that has been a few things. Theme wrapped around the movie Tombstone. It's fun. Steaks - This needs work.
