We tried: Busicuits and gravy, corned beef hash, french toast, Belgian waffle with blueberry compote, Monte Cristo, Pecorino cream cutlet, spaghetti and meat sauce, and Mozerella sticks (Mozzy sticks were !!) Cant wait to try the rest of the menu. Prices are great for breakfast, and fair for dinner. It does get busy during the rushes, but its kept very clean. Service is attentive, they have always been friendly. I've seen them work hard on a very busy service. We appreciate you. And who ever the chef is, your food is so good!!! I had breakfast at this place. The place was pretty quiet when I arrived, so finding a table was pretty easy. I ordered the biscuits and gravy and eggs. I asked for the eggs to be scrambled. They cost $13.99 plus tax. You can add hash browns or fries for an additional $2.50. The gravy was quite good. I liked that it came with chunks of breakfast sausage. The gravy was savory and creamy and well seasoned. The biscuits underneath were okay. They were not as fluffy as I would have liked and were a little on the dry side. The scrambled eggs were pretty good but could have used some seasoning. The hospitality was good. The young man running the bar and the floor at the time I visited was friendly and offered good conversation. There's a good amount of inside seating and a good size bar as well. Really cute restaurant just outside of Old Town San Diego. We ordered the Vendetta Ride and Johnny Ringo and updated one order of fries to truffle fries. The Johnny Ringo was very good, as were the regular fries. Truffle fries were good, but a little lackluster in the truffle department. I asked for the Vendetta Ride with the sauce on the side, but it was served with the sauce on the burger. Also, I thought the mushrooms would be sliced mushrooms but instead they were minced up in the sauce which was disappointing. I thought they'd left the mushrooms off at first, and when I asked the server even he had to go check with the kitchen because he didn't see them on the burger. The chicken was actually crispy, the slaw had a fresh crunch, and the hot honey gave it that sweet heat that makes you keep going back for another bite. Exactly what you want from bar food done right. The SMOKE SHOW 13 is not playing around -- double smash patties, double American cheese, marinated pork belly, onion ring, BBQ. It's stacked, messy, and fully committed. Come hungry. And my cocktail was the Loving Man -- vodka, passionfruit liqueur, lemon, agave. Bright, refreshing, dangerously easy to drink. What used to be a run of the mill taqueria diagonally across from the Old Town Trolley Tour stop is now Doc Holliday's. It's a bar and grill that's named in honor of a cowboy legend from the 1800's. The interior was redesigned to resemble a modern Wild West saloon. The bar was to the left when you walked in. A row of small two top tables was arranged in the middle of the room. The right side was lined with booth style seating. Two workers were staffing the bar when I arrived. A limited menu of five burgers, three sides, three milkshakes, and lobster mac & cheese was being offered during the soft opening period. Two of the burgers contained beef patties. A fried chicken fillet, tempura fried cod, and lobster cake made up the other three "burgers." A side of french fries came with a burger order. I selected the Moby Dick which was the tempura fried cod dressed with super greens coleslaw and caper remulad. I requested the Truffle Parmesan Fries instead of plain fries. The upgrade incurred a one dollar surcharge. I found the truffle and parmesan flavors to be intense on the fries. That was a good thing because some places apply a weak amount of seasoning. The cod fillet was fried nicely and served on a sesame seed wheat bun. Weekend brunch, steaks, and other offerings will eventually be incorporated into the menu after the full grand opening. That date is unknown at this time. For now, I gave a four star rating for Doc Holliday's as the $15 price for the fish sandwich and seasoned fries was a good value. read more

Kind of disappointing. The burger's are a bit pricey, which I get because of the location. But the food isn't worth coming back for. The burgers are pretty plain and the patties are overcooked and dry. The fries are good though. We got the Caesar salad to go, and were surprised at how much dressing they put and how small the salad was. The service was great, though. We were very excited to try this place because everything on the menu looked so good! We arrived to place a to-go order and I asked the gent at the bar where I can order to-go and he looks confused and says to-go food? No buddy gimme booze to-go..cmon bro. Yes. Food. So he walks away and I flag down a lady, Taylor, who did not look thrilled to see us either. I dont know if these people hate their lives or their jobs or what, but she treated me like I was annoying her. I told her my family is hungry so im going to order alot! And I named off 6 menu items and she did not write anything down. Then she finally pulled out a notebook to write my order down and I had to repeat it several times because home girl didn't want to listen. So I paid, waited for my food by the door, at the bar, by the window. 10, 20, 30, 45 minutes go by. I walk to the bar periodically to check on the status of my food. Both Taylor and the man behind the bar make eye contact with me several times while im waiting around. Im seeing people who came in after me get their food. Taylor is standing around the bar polishing equipment. Im standing at the bar waiting for my food and I finally say hey how long does it take for the food to get here? Its been 45 minutes. And she says to me passive aggressively "oh I was waiting for you to come back" lady, I never left. I've been loitering by the bar, by the door, by the window for 45 minutes while we've been periodically making eye contact every few minutes. I dont know if she didn't like me, didn't want to help me, didn't care for my large order? But she treated me like garbage. What a disappointment. If your job is to help people, can't you be kind without sarcasm and an attitude? We get back to our hotel and luckily all of the food is there, but its cold by now, and horribly bland. It all taste the same. This place shames the real Doc Holliday. He'd be rolling in his grave knowing that a place named after him treats customers so poorly and makes awful slop food. Everyone in old town is so kind and helpful and Jolly. Not this place. They clearly hate themselves and it shows. Never again! read more

Our party stopped in while in town for a wedding. Cody, our server, was amazing, well as the food and drinks. I had the Cowboy Cold brew, and the bride had the Purple Haze for drinks. We had a wide variety of meals including the avocado toast, California Sandwich, Wyatt Earp burger, a hash, and a couple smash burgers. Each one was delicious! You cannot go wrong with anything you order. The decor was on point and I sent pics to a friend who is a descendant of Doc Holliday and she thought it was fabulous and will visit if she makes her way to the San Diego area. They're medium cut, super crispy, and topped with Parmesan. So good. * Shepherd's Pie: I hate to say it, but SKIP THIS. It tasted more like a soupy lasagna with a red sauce base.
