    All American Breakfast
    Grace L.

I came back to try this place again with my boyfriend since he loves eating out for breakfast. We came on Memorial Day around 10am and the place was decently full. Unfortunately...they were short-staffed once again. I've been here on a sunny Sunday and now a holiday and they have been short-staffed....one bartender and one server. You would think on weekends or holidays they would bulk up the staff. We ended up sitting at the bar since it was just the two of us. We saw at least 2 parties wait at the door to be seated but walked away after standing at the door for a while because there was nobody to greet, seat or clean the tables. This is probably the only place in Old Town that opens at 7:30am everyday that serves a good breakfast menu....that is not totally Mexican influenced given its location in Old Town so that sets this place apart from every restaurant within 3 blocks. I got the Birria Omelet which was pretty good and packed with tender beef and a little kick with the jalapenos. The hash browns are like smashed tater tots that are fried to a crisp which were tasty. My boyfriend got the All American Breakfast which he loved. He said the sausages had a nice hint of rosemary in them and he loved the hash browns too. We also got a pancake on the side which was a nice sweet complement to my savory dish (I ate the whole damn thing). The breakfast menu is good here but they need to work on staffing the place properly in the future. I still stand by my 3 star rating because of the short staff which turns into longer wait times but the breakfast is good here if you're looking for a place that opens early that is NOT The Broken Yolk. :0P

We had higher expectations for this place based on their IG page.... Great concept. Cool decorations, music & chill vibes. Service was ok. Waitress didn't really check up on us & seemed like she was avoiding eye contact with her guests.... What we ordered: * Cowboy Chili - Tasted like canned chili & they forgot to bring our biscuit. Eventually they did & the biscuit was very tasty. $11.99 * Smoke Show - Smash Burger w/ pork belly. The pork belly had a freezer burn taste to it. $13.99 * Onion rings - Tasty. However they are a charged as a side. $5.99 * Purple Haze - $12.99 * Strawberry Shortcake Milkshake w/ shot of Frangelico - $24.99

Love the cool and relax vibe of this place. Stopped by for a smart cocktail. Great pour and the bartender was pleasant.

Really cute restaurant just outside of Old Town San Diego. We ordered the Vendetta Ride and Johnny Ringo and updated one order of fries to truffle fries. The Johnny Ringo was very good, as were the regular fries. Truffle fries were good, but a little lackluster in the truffle department. I asked for the Vendetta Ride with the sauce on the side, but it was served with the sauce on the burger. Also, I thought the mushrooms would be sliced mushrooms but instead they were minced up in the sauce which was disappointing. I thought they'd left the mushrooms off at first, and when I asked the server even he had to go check with the kitchen because he didn't see them on the burger. But when he came back he explained that the mushrooms are in the sauce. The dessert drinks looked good, but we were both too full after our meals to try them out this time.

Had a really great time here celebrating a friends birthday last night. Our server was great and all the food was really tasty. We enjoyed the western vibe for some pre-drinks and food before heading to the rodeo. The Brussel sprouts were a fave amongst the crew!

This is a great addition to Old Town. The new saloon look of "Doc Holiday" is absolutely a place he would've loved. It's got that warm, old-school saloon vibe -- lanterns on the tables, wood everywhere, relaxed but lively. You walk in and it just feels easy. No pretending. Just a solid bar with good energy. I ordered the JOHNNY RINGO (fried chicken, super greens coleslaw, hot honey) and it was legit. The chicken was actually crispy, the slaw had a fresh crunch, and the hot honey gave it that sweet heat that makes you keep going back for another bite. Exactly what you want from bar food done right. The SMOKE SHOW 13 is not playing around -- double smash patties, double American cheese, marinated pork belly, onion ring, BBQ. It's stacked, messy, and fully committed. Come hungry. And my cocktail was the Loving Man -- vodka, passionfruit liqueur, lemon, agave. Bright, refreshing, dangerously easy to drink. If you like passionfruit, order it. Immediately. Old Town needed a spot like this. It's fun, it's inviting, and it fits right in. Definitely worth checking out. Five stars.

Great atmosphere and good service. We got here during breakfast and it was not too busy. We tried their burrito and Old town burger and they were good. Salad was not that great. Definitely a good restaurant to try at Old Town.

Got the Smoke Show burger, the chicken, and a root beer float--every single thing was amazing. The pork belly on the burger was the standout: perfectly cooked, rich, and balanced, not overpowering. Everything felt elevated and very well made, not just standard bar food. Huge shoutout to our server Jeff--super helpful, knowledgeable, and genuinely made the experience better. This place absolutely nailed it, and I'll 100% be back.

What used to be a run of the mill taqueria diagonally across from the Old Town Trolley Tour stop is now Doc Holliday's. It's a bar and grill that's named in honor of a cowboy legend from the 1800's. The interior was redesigned to resemble a modern Wild West saloon. The bar was to the left when you walked in. A row of small two top tables was arranged in the middle of the room. The right side was lined with booth style seating. Two workers were staffing the bar when I arrived. A limited menu of five burgers, three sides, three milkshakes, and lobster mac & cheese was being offered during the soft opening period. Two of the burgers contained beef patties. A fried chicken fillet, tempura fried cod, and lobster cake made up the other three "burgers." A side of french fries came with a burger order. I selected the Moby Dick which was the tempura fried cod dressed with super greens coleslaw and caper remulad. I requested the Truffle Parmesan Fries instead of plain fries. The upgrade incurred a one dollar surcharge. I found the truffle and parmesan flavors to be intense on the fries. That was a good thing because some places apply a weak amount of seasoning. The cod fillet was fried nicely and served on a sesame seed wheat bun. Weekend brunch, steaks, and other offerings will eventually be incorporated into the menu after the full grand opening. That date is unknown at this time. For now, I gave a four star rating for Doc Holliday's as the $15 price for the fish sandwich and seasoned fries was a good value.

We LOVE Doc's! We are frequent flyers when we want to do a family old town morning, or evening actually! The service is amazing, Tajae and Oliva were rockstars. Our 3 year old daughter loves them. The food is always good, our daughter loves the breakfast there, but we tried the fish and chips and she really liked it. Brunch is my fave, but the wings and rolled tacos were delicious. Very interested in trying the spaghetti next time. The ambience is super cool, and old time saloon and you can people watch. Bathrooms are really clean. Definitely suggest taking your family for brunch or dinner before walking around, or even just a date night for drinks.

Went yesterday for Mother's Day with my family of 6 and we had a real good experience. Loved the old saloon look and feel of it, which is great for the Old Town experience. No waiting since we were early and had a reservation. The staff had apologized to us upfront for service since they were down a couple of ppl (which was good to know). The service attentive and were friendly. The food, was the best part. I had the Birria Omlette with Irish potatoes and sourdough bread. It was so delish and came on a big plate and filled up. The Omlette had been stuffed with onions, bell peppers, jalapeños, and lots meat. My whole family e joyed the food and the price was very reasonable. Chatted with the owner and he is a very nice guy.

Seating at a booth, blue velvet seats.

Great place, limited lunch items, breakfast from 7:30-2:30. Good food & great atmosphere and service. The drinks were pretty good too.

She was LOUD & reactive, like she was 100% sure she saw that, she grabbed 2 of the security guards & asked to get him out because she saw him come out of the girls restroom. WHICH WAS A LIE!! It was humiliating & if she would've just ran back the cameras she would see that is absolutely NOT what happened. It was unprofessional, ridiculous,& tasteless. Located in Old Town San Diego, we had dinner at a restaurant within walking distance from Oculto. I parked for free on the street and made a reservation day of. It's a pretty small speakeasy so if you're going on a weekend, you're probably going to have to make a reservation in advance. Ambiance (4.5/5): Oculto has the seven deadly sins theme going which is pretty cool. I've been to a similar speakeasy in St. Pete, Florida. Once you arrive at the mezcal bar that houses Oculto, check in with the host, and he will bring you to a "confessional." There, you must confess one of the seven deadly sins before the door to the speakeasy is opened for you. Naturally, I went with "lust." Once you get inside, it's a charming speakeasy. Service (2.5/5): This is one of the areas that leaves a little to be desired. There was only one bartender working when I was there. Since speakeasies have elevated cocktails, service was quite slow. They definitely needed two bartenders there to speed up the process. They also have a two-drink minimum which I was annoyed about on principle. I often have multiple drinks at a bar, but I never feel like I'm forced to do it. Food (N/A): I'm not sure if they have food, I don't believe they do. Regardless, I was on a liquid diet. Drinks (4/5): Pretty interesting menu of craft cocktails. When I'm at a speakeasy, I look for unique drinks that have an interesting combination of ingredients and flavor profiles. In addition to a nice list, they also have a dealer's choice cocktail where you can tell the bartender what you're into and they will craft a custom cocktail for you based on your taste. Another cool thing about Oculto is that it's located next to the cemetery in Old Town. That adds to the spooky theme.

It's just an all-around great spot to unwind, meet some cool people, and enjoy a top-notch beverage in a relaxed, friendly setting. Highly recommend giving The Loft a visit!

Situated on 5th Avenue in beautiful Hillcrest, The Loft is a small, but mighty place that is near and dear to my heart for a variety of reasons. From the bartenders, to the patrons, and of course the drinks...this spot is an absolute vibe! Everyone is beyond welcoming and fun here. The space is a great combination of indoor/outdoor. The drinks are strong and well priced, which is not a combination you can find many places these days! They don't serve food, but they are fine if you want to bring your own, which many folks do. We have enjoyed a cocktail and UberEats'd something so we didn't have to leave. Overall, while I am not a San Diego local (yet), I consider The Loft my local spot. Love this place!
