I love Doc's! Very affordable for the quality of the steaks. Rob mentioned below that the steaks aren't overly seasoned, and he's right about that. They use good cuts and the texture and flavor are good, but they definitely are not heavily seasoned. I have seen them run specials on blackened steaks and other similar, so you could probably make that type of request. A "full prescription" meal comes with two sides and bread.. I think they make their own butter and at least some of their dressings. I KNOW they make the croutons..and even though I'm not a crouton kinda guy, the croutons at Docs are part of what I look forward to. For appetizers I like the onion rings and potato skins. My favorite entrees are the brass rail (cut up steak with chunks of onion, grn pepper and tomatoes and some kind of sauce, would be a good choice for someone looking for lots of flavor), the steak and shrimp (3 jumbo shrimp battered and deep friend), and the haddock (also battered and deep fried, I eat healthy the next day). Long Island's are on special saturday night and are amazing (even if it's not a saturday night). The "ward special" (rum drink) and ice cream drinks are also good. They have their menu and specials online. You can get a steak, 2 side and a soft drink for $12 any day of the week. Most expensive plate is the filet @ $22. read more

great food, great service. Romantic and friendly. Mishawaka should be proud of this restaurant. Try the Brass rail or the chicken fingers. both are wonderful. THe onion rings are great but very big so don't order full order if it is only two people. fair prices. My husband and I had appetizer, two meals two alcoholic drinks and it came to 50 so was fair. We had planned to go to the restaurant next to Doc Pierces, but when we saw the nice patio they had we changed our minds and ate there. The weather was beautiful that day and we really did enjoy the setting. The food was another story. Hubby ordered a pork tenderloin, which he said was just okay. The fried white fish that I ordered was just, meh. My sister-in-law ordered the baked potato with cheese and vegetables. We both thought it sounded different and good. But it was disappointing too. Our waitress was the only one on the patio trying to serve at least six tables at one time. The poor thing was so swamped she would forget things for several different tables. It took quite a long time for the food to come out, at least 30 minutes. The restroom was another story. What a mess on the floor in one of the bathroom stalls. Water all over the floor, and the entire bathroom floor had a slick grime to it. Really yucky. We all decided once was enough, and will not return to this place in the future. read more

This place is extremely affordable and the food is pretty decent. My husband and I went in the early evening just before the crowds started packing in. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich (which comes with a side), and it cost about $7.50. My husband ordered the chicken sandwich and it cost the same. I noticed they also had a 6 oz. sirloin that came with a side dish for under $10.00, just to give you an idea of their prices. Before dining here, check their website for a coupon. My family and I went here together on multiple occasions, it was amazing! Reading some of the other reviews we simply disagree...the food is cooked extremely well. Especially the seafood which my mom and I prefer, the fish is never overdone. Service is fantastic and even remembered us when we came back a few weeks later. What a beautiful night. Just wanted to have a tasty meal, sit outside and enjoy the weather. Decided to go to Doc Pierce's. We were seated outside and waited, and waited. Mind you there were only 3 tables with people. Did I mention we waited and waited. No one ever stopped or acknowledged we were there. A bigger table had two extra people come and sit with them. Did I mention we had been waiting. The waitress walked straight to the table and asked for the new people who had just arrived for their drink order. Ok now I am up out of my seat leaving. The waitress then says what had no one waited on you. We said No. she went on to say another waitress was suppose to be out there and no one told her we were there. If it can't be pulled from the freezer and put in the deep fryer these people don't know what to do. Awful, awful, awful. When walking in the door I wanted to bend over and straighten up the rug but it was so filthy I wouldn't touch it. Our bill was almost $50.00 and that was AFTER I said I wanted a refund on my steak and chicken. Waited 15 minutes before even getting served water. The waitress who said she'd be right with us was Michaela, someone I had the unfortunate experience of going to high school with. She doesn't like me for unknown reasons, and on Monday night that drama from way back when continued when she noticed who'd she be serving. She made it very clear that she won't be serving us as she said rude comments right by our booth in the back, and she had another waitress come to the table for drinks. By this time, we just left. It was far too uncomfortable, and rather disappointing considering it was MY FIRST TIME AT THE RESTAURANT. I've heard so many great things about doc's, but the wait staff will put them out of business real fast, in my opinion. I won't be going back until something changes with the staff, and I'll make sure to tell my acquaintances and friends about this experience. We went yesterday for dinner. Asked to see the peel & eat shrimp they sell by 1/2 lb & lbs simmered in beer. Waitress brought out 2, they smelled rotten, I got up & washed my hands immediately. Not sampling something that smelled so bad! Ordered French Onion Soup instead. The broth had little taste. Bland dark broth, didn't finish it. For the entree ordered the French Dip. I ate 1/4 almost of the 1/2 i!I cut. Old processed beef. Sister-in-law ordered the fried chicken sandwich. Fried on old grease. Waitress noticed our food was uneaten. I told her this place needs Restaurant Rescue! Beautiful stained glass windows. Food absolutely HORRIBLE! She subtracted the soups, & my sandwich, gave us a $25 gift card, to give them another chance. About 2:00 am, the results of food poisoning started. I am so sick today. (Labor Day 9-6-16) This place should be investigated by the Health Dept. I am calling the County Inspector tomorrow! read more

I have been a regular customer at this establishment for the past 5-6 years, but after tonight I don't believe I will be returning. Our waitress needs some training, and to pay better attention to all of her tables, not just some of them. The food was not up to the usual standard I have come to expect: slightly stale bread, half-cold fries, heavily breaded fish to disguise the smaller portions. None of those factors would keep me from returning, but the manager's reaction to my polite but disappointed comments will. When asking for the check I politely asked to see a manager. I was shocked at the poor attitude he displayed when I commented on the 45 minute wait time to receive our food and poor service. Not once did he apologize for the delay, or ask if there was anything that could have made things better. When I continued to express my concerns about the service, he failed to give me a chance to finish, saying simply that he would tell our server we were disappointed. My goal was to try to indicate to him that maybe as a manager he needs to train her better, and pay better attention to what is happening in his restaurant, helping out where needed. If this is how Doc Pierce's treats their customers, my money is better spent at any number of local establishments. read more

Went here with my wife for dinner. We waited 10 minutes for a server to take our drink order. Cheesy fries appetizer was good. Salad was decent... the homemade croutons were awesome. I ordered the steak and chicken with a baked potato. The steak had not even a thought of seasoning of any kind. The chicken was so overcooked that it was inedible. The steak was also overcooked. I paid extra for the baked potato to be "loaded" with cheese, bacon and green onions... I got a teaspoon of cheese, 2 or 3 crumbles of bacon and some green onions. The butter was frozen and the sour cream was given to us in a soggy paper cup. The waitress smelled like a chimney, clearly from the smoke break she just took. I do have to say, however, that the cocktail called "the transfusion" was great and reasonably priced. Overall, the food and service was terrible and we will not be back. This was $50 not well spent. read more
