It is a beautiful venue with friendly staff and a really good wine. It has a nice very laid back atmosphere, and we appreciated the fact that we didn't need to make a reservation way ahead of time. I believe the tasting was $15/per person (which is an amazing deal for trying 5 wines) but the fee is waved if you are purchasing wine. You get even a better deal if you purchase a case, which we will definitely do next time we are in Paso Robles. It was wonderful meeting the owner and learning more about this place. It is definitely a unique experience and we were really grateful to hear all the stories. The three German shepherds were super sweet and friendly, they do run to every car to greet people so I can see how it can be a bit intimidating to some at first. Fell in love with their dogs too. Their dogs greeted us when we got out of the car. Very friendly. They had signs all around that dogs weren't aloud. This was the last winery on the road on our way home so we decided to stop. Very cute place. The wine guy pouring the tastings was very friendly and knowledgeable The cost for tasting is $15 but if you buy something it goes towards that. I'm glad we stopped here because I have a hard time finding wine I like. It usually tastes like strong alcohol and I can never taste the oak or cherry or cedar or smoke or figs or any other flavors a bottle of wine says it has but I could actually taste flavors in these wines. I got 4 bottles for $89, 2013 Estate Zinfandel, 2 of the 2013 Estate Syrah, and Jimmymon Red. It was so hard to chose. We came here after purchasing a Groupon deal for four. It was quite busy since it was Memorial Day Weekend, and we were greeted warmly by Amber who got right on to pouring our first glass and cheese and meat board. As soon as I walked in, I knew it was a fun atmosphere when I saw the gentleman wearing the DEA (Drink Every Afternoon) hat karaoking! He handed the mic to my friend and they sang along together, it was a lively energy inside! After our third pour, one of the owners came around to greet and make sure our party of four was up to speed on our pours which I appreciated a lot. The view outside is just stunning, it's a 40-acre vineyard! Our party of four had such a great time here thanks to how wonderful the experience was, and you can't beat the gorgeous view! Doce Robles was a GREAT find! I stopped in because I purchased a Groupon. After such great wine, friendly staff and great conversation with the owner, Doce Robles is now my favorite winery in Paso! They only make red wine and they are all fabulous. I typically don't like US Malbec but Doce Robles make a fabulous one that's right up there with Argentinean Malbec. Excellent wine but unfortunately they had no Tempranillo today which is our favorite wine from Doce Robles. We've been to Doce Robles many times over the last several years. It's been about four years since we were last here in Paso though. We like Marybeth and Jimmy. We used to be wine club members here but we had to let it go because we were becoming wino's and concerned about the condition of our livers :) This afternoon, Jimmy was doing karaoke in the tasting room. Funny. These guys like to have fun on the job and it shows in the personality of this place. Nothing wrong with that!!! Disappointed we didn't get to see Marybeth though. Just wow. The wine, the pairings, the atmosphere, and the service all made for an incredible last day in Paso Robles (Just look at the pictures!). Robert and I had planned on doing a quick last wine tasting before heading back to his hometown, but the vineyard was so beautiful that we decided to stay until past sunset. The bartender was fantastic; he was friendly and very attentive, checking up on us every 15 minutes or so. He told us to "make ourselves feel at home" and really meant that, which we appreciated. Doce Robles Winery offers some really incredible light, red blends at a super affordable price. We ended up buying the JIMMYMON and the Barbera but definitely had a hard time choosing. We did a wine tour the previous day, but this ended up being our favorite place! We hope to return one day. read more

I called and left three messages regarding the attack and killing of a patrons dog and asked if they would please call me back. I wanted to speak with the owners to ask what and if anything is being done with the dogs to keep patrons safe. They chose not to return my calls I will not risk my life going to this winery, due to the severity of the aggressive and uncontrolled German Shepards on site. Obviously, they are quite aware of the danger their dogs pose. I saw this posted on Yelp. 12/10/2013 A warning about this winery. My friend and I arrived on a Sunday morning 12/8/13 very excited to visit Doce Robles after reading the good Yelp reviews. When we arrived, we were approached by two dogs. At first the dogs blocked my car and would not allow us to come into the parking lot. After waiting a few minutes they finally moved and we were able to park. As my friend got out of the car, one of the dogs came at her and jumped on the side of the passenger door, leaving a scratch on my white car. The male owner came out and yelled at his dog to leave us alone. He quickly went back inside and did not have the courtesy to come out and see if any damage was caused. The owner saw both of us examining the passenger side of the car for about 5 minutes but did not come out again. We left this winery without going inside for tasting. Don't bring your new car or young children to this winery. The owners have two large, untrained dogs and he is not a responsible business owner. read more

Absolutely terrible experience. We drove up to the tasting room and had 3 German Sheppards instantly run up to our car barking and growling. Nobody ever came out to remove dogs from truck eventhough they were biting at our tires. After waiting a few minutes to see if anybody would help, we had to carefully drive off with dogs chasing our car all the way back to the road. Plenty of other wineries to visit. Do NOT waste your time here. Should've taken video of the dogs because we called and they denied the dogs would do anything of the sort. read more

I went here for a wine tasting with a friend recently. We got a groupon deal that included 6 tastings each for 2 people, and a plate of meat, cheese, with fruit. It was all under 20 dollars, which was a great deal. The wines jammy and went well with our food plate. The patio was spectacular and overlooked the vinyards. It was so relaxing to drink wine and have a great conversation. I think I spent over an hour there just chating and enjoying the view. One odd part was having to bring in my glass of wine from outside to the inside in order to get the next tasting. It really broke the rhythm during the wine tasting. The girl in the tasting room was really nice, I just didn't care for any of the wines. I took home a bottle of the Jimmymon White (without having tasted it) and found it really vulgar. It's a 16% alcohol white wine (Viognier & Roussanne) that tastes like cough syrup. I just don't know why you'd make a wine like that. read more

This place had an underwhelming exterior upon arriving, but don't let that fool you, the treasures are within. The server was very knowledgeable about the wines and the winemaking process and this was some of the best wine I had all day. Very cute, family owned winery. We were greeted by several dogs upon arrival. This winery was the first stop on our tour with the Grapeline. The servers were kind (husband and wife), and the husband was autographing some wine bottles, which is apparently "not a frequent occurrence." :-) But yeah, they were friendly and got the job done. The scenery was nice out the back door, but the pluses were definitely the tastes of the wine and the service versus the location/environment (speaking relatively of course... we went to three other wineries that had nicer sceneries/ambiances). They didn't have tasting crackers though. I think all of their wines were at least $10... but we just saw one at Trader Joe's for $7. Oops. read more

Two things: A case of 05 Merlot for 84 bucks and German Sheppard's that greet you at the door. That's all you need to know. Staff is great, and the tasting fee of $5 bucks is reasonable. They have never led me wrong. You gotta love that! I am a Sangiovese fan, and come back just for that bottle! The Sy-Rific-Cab is also amazing, and this local mom and pop joint is awesome! Maribeth and Jimmy get it absolutely right at Doce Robles! The wines are consistently excellent and age well (I've opened some 2007 and 2008 bottles recently and they've deepened in complexity since I tasted them years ago). This is one of the first wineries I went to when I started exploring wine in 2008 or 2009. Both Maribeth and Jimmy are always excellent hosts, ready to tell you stories and wine information alike. The Sy-rific-cab has always been a favorite, as have the Barbera and Sangiovese. The Sunset Red is a great casual red. The property is stunningly beautiful, too! I highly recommend coming to Doce Robles. They're one of the first wineries on the 46W if you're coming from the 101, so they're easy to get to as well. Also, to the lady who tried to bring a dog in: there is a large sign as you drive in that says that dogs must stay in the car. It's impossible to miss; I don't even have a dog and I notice it every time. If you can't be bothered to read the sign or respect the owners' wishes, don't be upset when they ask you to leave your dog in the car. Your review really has nothing to do with the winery or the owners and everything to do with you not getting your way. I have never seen Jimmy, Maribeth, or their staff be anything less than absolutely courteous to patrons of their winery, and I can't speak highly enough of the hospitality that they have shown to me and my friends over the years. I hate being confrontational in these things, but sometimes reviewers need to be called out when their review is somehow misleading. read more

Last summer I went wine tasting with my sisters and Doce Robles was our first stop. I was so impressed with the wine and the vineyard that I signed up for their wine club which delivers 12 bottles of wine to my door step twice a year. I'm a stay-at-home mom and those two deliveries are like Christmas each time the delivery man shows up with that box full of deliciousness. I am never disappointed with the wine selection. My husband and I stumbled across this small family owned winery off Highway 46 and are so happy we did! Tucked away in the hillsides featuring gorgeous vineyards is this hidden gem, which offers delicious wines and charcuterie in a casual unpretentious setting. We have been several times and every time the hosts have been welcoming and kind, and we love petting the friendly family German shepherd while sipping wine in the beautiful scenery. Overall amazing! We had about 5 pours, great conversation the newly hired staff & the owners, and we got to enjoy both the well kept indoors and outdoors of the property. This was our last stop of the day, we arrived at about 430ish and were sure we would just be in and out before they closed at 530. First, it's very small and quaint when you arrive. There are 4 German Sheppards that lazily lay outside which is one of the reasons I picked this winery. They were very cute and added to the homie feeling of the winery. The wine tasting room is also very small but not over crowded or with any cluttered feeling. The pourers were older, but for some reason, so much more fun than all the other pourers we had. We shared some good laughs. The wine was, well... I can't really remember at this point, it was the last stop of the day, and lets be honest, your pallet is pretty tainted at that point. We did buy a bottle, so I guess we liked it! I'm a big fan of reds, and that's all they poured, I am very partial to Zin, which they had... so I was again, very happy. Tasting fee was $5, and she had a pinot open that was on the "reserve" list and not available for tasting, but she poured it for us anyways. The company was amazing, and we found ourselves talking forever. We had actually talked so much, it was 545 before we even knew it, and the nice lady (who even mentioned jokingly when a party came in she's not staying late) was more than accommodating to the fact we loss track of time. My wife and I have been wine club members here for sometime. Over this past weekend, we ventured over to pick up our club shipment. In these times of the COVID pandemic, we were met with a welcome smile. We all maintained our social distances and got what supplies we needed to maintain our "stay at home" as requested by our governor. This place always goes out of the way to ensure the visitors/members needs are tended to. Yes, we ventured out, but the drive was in order to not go stir crazy at home. He said his usual girl was sick but someone would be in at noon but he would serve us our tasting. It was the most enjoyable experience. My wife and I absolutely fell in love with this gem of a winery. Absolutely had the best experience here. We are from out of town and didn't know of any wine tasting locations , so we went on Groupon and found a great deal. The staff was beyond nice, humble, and despite of the guests there were very attentive and knowledgeable they made us feel like home. This is the fourth winery I visited on my tour, so admittedly the wineries were starting to blur together a bit at this point. For the price, though, I definitely felt they had some pretty quality wines. My favorite was the Tempraillo, which I bought a bottle of. The winemaker even autographed my bottle. Most bottles we tasted were about $16 to $20, which was more affordable that a lot of the wineries we visited. Doce Robles has a cute, family-owned feel. I would not recommend this place. We arrived with a small friendly dog. The owner has a German Shepard that lives on property. BUT...other dogs are not welcome. The lady there was very mean about it and ordered me to put my dog back in the car. With an attitude like that she lost our business. I'm glad that we left right away because we found a much better and friendlier place, J Duci. Those kinds may get offended by what happens here: 1) a German Shepard dog when you enter 2) a new German Shepard puppy 3) the owner singing karaoke!!! At first, I was bummed bc the first couple of tastes we took were not that good! But, then we got to the last taste: Sunset Red... Delicious!!! We ended up buying a case! Usually $22 a bottle, but ended up around $10. If you are looking for a chill environment, an owner who signs bottles, an owner and wife who actually pour, a place where the owner and tasters can karaoke, then you've found your place! Very down to earth, just so comforting... Seriously, you feel like family! Lastly, we ordered two glasses of our favorite wine which are $6.00 a piece, we ended up getting those comped bc my hubby is military. We will for sure be back.
