The seafood dish was just the right amount of herbs, spices and sweetness. The ingredients seemed fresh, and the portion was decent. The Chiangmai noodle dish was delicious. We went on Sunday around 1pm and it wasn't busy at all. It was low lit and chill. Server was friendly and food came out quickly. We ordered crispy duck buns, grilled pork belly banh mi, and a side of fries. Crispy duck bun- soft bun with super crispy crunchy pieces of duck. I liked the kick of the scallions and the addition of lettuce but felt like the cucumber flavor didn't quite belong. Didn't taste the mustard at all, sauce was not bad but just too sweet for my liking. Grilled pork belly banh mi- I saw the sign in front of the restaurant say the banh mi was savory and I'm a huge fan of savory foods. I was expecting savory and was disappointed by how sweet the banh mi turned out. Side of fries- generous portion of crispy fries. I heard the crunch every time I took a bite, so satisfying! The fries were very dense and the sriracha aioli was sweet. Not a bad pairing, just wished there was more heat from the sriracha and less sweet. All in all, everything ended up tasting similar due to it all being sweet LOL. Not saying it was bad because some people would genuinely enjoy the sweetness. It just wasn't my thing. Stopped by here on a Friday night around 10pm and while it was pretty busy we were able to get a table on the outside deck right away. The service was quick/friendly and the place had a welcoming atmosphere. I don't eat meat so we went for the spring rolls, veggie gyoza and shrimp dumplings. Everything was decent with the spring rolls being my least favorite. They tasted like mush and didn't have much filling in them. The shrimp dumplings were delicious though and made up for the former. I have to admit I was a little skeptical of a restaurant that boasts having 3 different regional cuisines on one menu. International menus tend to feature watered down versions of the original dishes, what some might call co-opting another culture's cuisine. Dock Asian Eatery manages to preserve the integrity of their dishes while featuring an ambitious (and long) menu. The restaurant is located in an area where all the Bushwick nightlife is centered around, so as expected the place is still bumpin' well past 10pm on Friday and Saturday nights. There are two high ceilinged floors of seating, so it can accommodate different sized groups. The best dishes I tried include takoyaki, a chirashi bowl, and their khao soi. Their khao soi was very flavorful and one of the better renditions of this dish I've had in the city. It comes in a cute blue clay pot and contains plenty of egg noodles in a coconut curry broth that had a nice amount of heat. The chirashi bowl was beautifully presented and felt thoughtfully put together. It included some sweet tamago, tuna, salmon, ikura, ebi, and really nicely flavored sushi rice. In need of a restaurant that accommodated a larger party, I was delighted to have landed my eyes on this gem. The store offered outdoor seating by the streets, an outdoor patio that's next to the entrance, and indoor seating. We ordered a mix of foods ranging from ramen, Thai noodles, banh mi, and rice. I love the range of Asian options here, as it works perfectly for the undecided. The food pretty much came right away. My Chiang Mai Noodles ($16), which was marked "Highly rated" on their menu were bomb. I rarely eat Thai food, let alone anything outside of Pad Thai, so this was a great discovery. I still can't get over the combination of crunchy noodles with soft egg noodles. Such a wonderful fun texture. The curry broth offered a nice spicy kick, but was commented by my party as not very spicy. They gave a TON of chicken meat, although they were really really dry. Note the bill does leave a default 18% tip (maybe because we were party of 6+). Overall, this was a great quick lunch spot at Williamsburg. I had to wait 15 minutes after being seated, before the waitress came to my table and when she did she was very curt. Dock Asian Eatery is a beautiful spacious restaurant in Bushwick. They serve Japanese and Thai food with ease and grace. K and I met a friend for dinner there. The staff was gracious and so attentive. The bar was beautiful. We sat upstairs in a loft dining area. It felt like you were in exotic treehouse, dining in the tropics. We shared the following. Drinks: Sapparo draft beer, iced green tea and Echigo stout. The stout was refreshing and had a hint of coffee. Sashimi special- this was so good and fresh. Esp for a restaurant serving both Thai and Japanese food. Reading the reviews, people complained about the quality of the fish. There were no complaints here. The salmon was fatty and unctuous. The yellow tail was fresh. The tomago was soft and melted in our mouths. The scallop was sweet and so tender (this was my favorite piece). The botanical ebi head was creamy and fried to a great crunch. The otoro was very creamy and satisfying. The chirashi bowl- this was also fresh! And the sushi rice had bits of sweet pickled vegetables and mushrooms to add texture to the rice! I liked the lean tuna, the shrimp and the salmon roe. The seafood ramen was good- very rich flavors. I loved the added poach egg. The noodles were springy. The shrimps were good, the clams were plump but the broth was a little salty. Chiang Mai noodles- this was slightly spicy sweet curried noodles (a version of Kaho Soi). I love the noodles! The curry was good, slightly sweet from coconut milk. The chicken chunks were a little overcooked and dry. Beef Yakitori- good chunks of beef. It was a little dry but very flavorful. Toro pork (pork belly)- This was the best Yakitori. The juicy crispy pork belly went perfectly with the yuzu pepper paste. This was a wonderful amazing mind blowing bite! Shiitake Yakitori- this had a smoky flavor. It was a little undercooked and dried. Dessert: Coffee Jelly- concentrated coffee jelly topped with vanilla and coffee ice cream. The coffee tasted like nitro drip. It was very strong. It tasted like an affogato but with totally different textures. Anmitsu Parfait- this had chewy delicious mochi with corn flakes, vanilla ice cream, red bean paste and topped with brown sugar syrup. This was my favorite dessert! I loved the mochi and all the blends of textures and varying levels of sweetness. Matcha Mousse- green tea on the outside, vanilla mousse on the inside and paired with an adorable mouse-like yuzu sorbet with a mint leaf as its ears. This was my 2nd fav dessert. My friends and I randomly discovered this spot and we really liked the vibe of the restaurant online. The food looked good and the ambiance seemed nice. First impressions: Inside was nice but it was too dark. You couldn't see everything clearly and I wish they would add more overhead lights. There's no physical menu; there's a QR code on every table. Pad Sea Eiw 6/10 - I was surprised when this dish came out and it was the size of my hand. There were only a few strands of flat noodles but it was tasty. The beef had no seasoning and was chewy. Casseroled Shrimps with Glass Noodles 2/10 - I was extremely disappointed with this dish considering it was $25. It was less than the size of my hand, only had a hand full of noodles, and the shrimp was over cooked. The ginger overpowered the taste of the noodles and it was really salty. Crispy Duck Bun 7/10 - This appetizer was good and tasty. The crispy duck was really, really crispy and was one of the better dishes. Although I was already disappointed with the flavors of the food and the portion sizes, the cockroach crawling on the wall right next to my face really threw me off. I know majority of restaurants probably have cockroaches and rats running around, but I wasn't expecting one to be out in the open. The darkness of the restaurant probably attracted all of the roaches as they prefer to live in the dark. My friends and I didn't complain or comment on the portions sizes and the cockroach as we felt that was rude or "Karen" like. I've been here plenty before COVID, but have been ordering delivery regularly because my family is bonkers for their ramen and pork gyoza. Alright, it's not the best ramen in the world, but it is so satisfying delicious and well executed. We've also tried a bunch of their other menu options like the khao mun gai or other thai dishes. This time the pork belly cha-su was much thicker than the first time, so I was super happy about that! However, everything else was kind of disappointing. Maybe I had a bad batch today, I'm not sure. The soup was very bland-- not as creamy as I remembered, the noodles stuck together, and although the pork cha-su slices were thicker, but there was little to no flavor. The broth was very flavorful. I debated between pork buns and the summer rolls and regret having gone with the summer rolls. I don't know what I was expecting there it was literally just flavorless salad. Since they were already splitting I just emptied the lettuce into the bowl and set aside to eat as salad. Every bite we have had has been amazing. My daughter got the spicy ramen and I got the japchae noodles with shrimp and pork belly. The required 20% gratuity for 3 apps and one main dish for 2 adults and 2 kids is ridiculous. The check came with the gratuity already calculated in the price. Nowhere is it mentioned in the restaurant, on the menu or told by the waitresses that there was a mandatory 20% gratuity. I get it for large groups, but four a small family, that's crazy. I'm old school, I pay extra gratuity when it's deserved. Not from the getgo. How is it okay to require that you pay extra for mediocre food and service? I changed the price on my receipt. When I saw the original charge in my bank account, I went back and asked that they make sure the charge is reversed. Initially, she said that there was nothing that could be done. That this is what they do now. Then she asked if I'd been there before. I replied that I hadn't and I noted that there was no notice of a required gratuity. Honestly, this is my favorite place to eat in Bushwick right now. I'm kind of obsessed with it. It is so fucking good. This food is definitely F-word worthy. There are some things on the menu, as soon as you take a bite of them, you definitely are going to say, "oh fuck, this is so good." The Chaing Mai noodles with chicken from this place are maybe the best Thai noodles I have ever had anywhere. I also especially love the sweet bun that's part of the bar menu. I love the peanut dumplings, though I do wish they came with some kind of vinegar or side sauce. That is literally my only complaint; That one of their dumplings doesn't have a sauce. That's it. I've never had anything bad here. Everything is very good to stunningly delicious. You can get old standards here that you can get at any thai restaurant, curries and pad Thai and such, but even those dishes are going to be just a little bit better than most of the places you've eaten at before. In addition to this, you can get really interesting things that I do not see on any other (middle-priced) Thai restaurant menus. This food affordable for what it is. I can't get enough of the crispy mock duck with basil sauce. You also have to try their Bon mi sandwiches at some point. They are crispy and vinegary and the meat is so excellently sautéed. The french fries here are even good and come with a thai dipping sauce that is really stellar. but again, if you only come here one time, get the Chiang Mai noodles. We started with takoyaki, which is a big favorite and they were perfectly fried and delicious. We also shared some roasted pork shoulder, and it was sweet, tangy and deliciously roasted. After annoying the crap out of my friend to come out to grab lunch with me, we drove right over to this place. I had this place bookmarked for awhile. Normally I'm not fond of fusion restaurants but this place was interesting due to the fact that it has a specific chef for each type if cuisine. Of course, I came here for their ramen and boy was I surprised. The ramen was pretty fucking good. Solid broth, creamy and rich. A well seasoned slice of chashu though they could of been more generous and gave us another slice. The egg was seasoned well and it was creamy, I hate over done hard boiled eggs with ramen. I also order their fried calamari which was pretty good too. Not overall battered and fried and had a consistent texture and taste to it. Their selection of imported Japanese beer is solid. So, this is a hidden gem in Bushwick. I saw it and past it for a hyped up asian-American joint but I was pleasantly surprised when I finally decided to give it a try. The rustic interior and details to lifting is amazing. I really loved how they use the space.
