Food is excellent. Our server was great. We drove from a little over the MD line in WV to take a day trip. Lived in MD almost my whole life though so I can appreciate a good crab cake. Effin loved the idea of adding shrimp salad underneath of one even though I'm a simple crab cake type of girl. The crab cake was cooked perfectly with little filler and plenty of lump. We brought my 11 year old there for her birthday. It took 1 1/2 for the food to come. It was a half empty restaurant. We got the lobster special and 2 steak frites. The lobster was no where near the 1 1/2 pound they advertised. It was also served in pieces on the plate. The waitress said they did that because they were running out of utensils. The steaks were dry and bland. The manager never walked around the dining room to check on anything. I called after we left to explain our experience. The hostess said the manager was too busy to come to the phone. Never again. There are too many good choices around. read more

Tried this newer restaurant for the first time on a midafternoon. Lots of seating, clean bathrooms, quick service, and delicious food. Sat outside with the choice of shade or sun right along the water. The nearby elevated highway traffic can be heard, but still a pleasant place to visit. Our Happy Hour (3-6 weekdays) quesadillas and Orange Crush were excellent. We enjoyed halibut tacos and chipotle shrimp tacos with great fries. Can't wait go back! read more

Our first time in their new restaurant. Nestled under the Kent Narrows Bridge - Dock House Restaurant provides great scenic view of the water. We were up from Florida visiting old stomping grounds. The new look is fresh, clean, spacious with the Eastern Shore theme ! Music is mix of country 80's, easy rock. Payton was our server and fantastic - friendly, respectful, attentive and thorough ! We ordered several items all were wonderful. Scallops were perfect, Brussels sprouts, Crab Cake Samich, Caesar Salad with a Crab Cake topping, Rockfish with Crab Imperial and the best sautéed green beans I have had in restaurants. Presentation on the dishes was well done! Their drink menu is pretty good! Deserts we had were excellent. I'd give this place a 0 if I could! One of the worst dining experiences in my life! The food was old and disgusting complete with a hair in it and it was only chicken nachos! How do you screw that up?! What's worse than that tho was how carryout and the restaurant was run and how the issue was handled after I called to let them know this blob of hairy mess called nachos was intolerable. 1st off nobody stays at the hostess stand ever... I litterally called them from the hostess stand on my cell phone to get someone to come out after walking into the dining room looking for ANYONE to come out and help me pick up my food getting cold. This has happened quite a few times I've been there. I was told by Annie the hostess was setting up tables but if that was true why was the hostess out in 3 seconds after she answered the phone telling her Ive been waiting to pick up my food? She mysteriously popped from around the corner with my gross food. BS'd yet again! Why did I go back after two other subpar experiences you may be thinking? I tend to give people and places way too many chances and give them the benefit of the doubt. 2. I get the chicken nachos home and it litterally has 2 pcs of chicken the size of my pinky finger nail (I swear to the Lord above)! That's it! It had a blob of sour cream the size of a small dinner plate and 90% of the chips were stale like rubber! No pico or scallions and unmelted slabs of some kind of cheese! Where is the kitchen manager in all of this?! 3. Worst yet, I spoke to 3 managers trying to get a refund and neither of them Lisa or Megan could do so even tho they are managers. Megan who was very nice and Lisa needs major training (don't BS your customers Lisa but now I know where she gets it from right Annie?). Megan had to phone Annie the GM offsite on the 2nd day to get a refund after I brought the food back and after pressing them for a refund because they wanted me to come back a 3rd day....oh hell no!! All that to get a refund? Annie knowingly BSing me that they had problems with the Nachos (are you serious!) A 6th grade kid can make Nachos! Its one of the easiest things to make on the menu people next to toast! Pathetic! Wait! It gets better! The worst part is, this restaurant doesn't appreciate their patrons! Not 1 manager or employee... (5 ppl were involved) offered me a substitute dish, even the general manager Annie stated "we don't do anything for our guests but give refunds" we don't give refunds and/or replacement food or anything for your trouble, just a refund" and evidently reluctantly at that. Seriously, on the 3rd day they giveth refunds that she tells me "it might take awhile to hit my bank account"...what?! Its not the money people, it was $17, its the way things were handled. They offer no replacement food, no gift cards, no nothing to earn a customers loyalty or a we messed up, we're sorry token! I've eaten there a few times out of proximity (of the 3 times I've eaten there all the food was a disappointing 5-6 out of 10 each time. I will not eat here again with friends and/or family nor will I go to that "shit show" the Jetty either (same owners). Bonus material Last time about a year ago I was at the Jetty with a group of family and friends with an 8 yr old and a lil 15 yr old Chihuahua to listen to a bit of music from the early band outside on the deck as it was a nice night and for basically a nightcap after eating elsewhere. Well wouldnt ya know it, we got sucked into a fight with drunk patrons at 700pm even after explaining to Security (what a joke that is) that these drunk patron near us were obnoxious and causing problems all around us and eventually to us as well. They did nothing until all hell broke loose! Half the place was fighting! I added this to let you all know that this is how ownership runs both of these locations unfortunately! Nice places, horrible management! Stay away at all costs! They don't appreciate your business they expect it...big difference. Go to Harris Crab House, Grab Deck, Fishermans Inn, Bridges where I've always had great experiences and good food at these locations. They appreciate their customers unlike Dock House or The Jetty nearby. I hope this unfortunate review will help others not have bad dining/night on the town experiences like we had. This was our first experience at Dock House and we were very satisfied. From the moment we walked in the Ambiance was exactly what we were seeking for our wedding anniversary. For starters Sandy ordered a Frozen Dreamcicle that she raved about! The appetizer we ordered was the Prosciutto Wrapped Scallops and they were absolutely scrumptious! The Entree we both ordered the Crab Imperial Rockfish. Sandy got hers with the Roasted Fingerling Potatoes & perfect Green Beans. I substituted my potatoes with a side salad. The Crab Imperial Rockfish we ordered were both absolutely delicious. Our server Kylie, was a very cordial and prompt server, that was a fun conversationalist. Meghan was also extremely helpful giving me a tour beforehand when I stopped by earlier before going home and bringing my wife for some fine waterfront dining. We decided to sit inside even though the covered deck tables were amazing too, we loved our table seated at the window looking directly at the Kent Narrows and the boat traffic. This was our first venture into dining out. We prefer staying home and taking our time. We were met immediately as we came into the door. It was very clean and slightly elegant. Our waiter was Bobby, and he was so down to earth. The atmosphere was on point casual wear, to I suppose more. We had the popcorn seafood and the btussel sprout appetizers And we added a crab bisque soup for each of us. It all tickled and tantalized out taste buds. After all, we were there to rate them. Unbeknownst to them. I carry a food safety management license in Maryland in addition to a certification in nutrition. Our scale is a one through ten, and I saw nothing during our visit that would cause me to give Dock house anything lower then a ten. There were four of us who dined here on a Saturday evening. We opted to sit outside and we were seated right away. The outside seating offers a nice view of the Kent Island Narrows. Our server, Luke was friendly and was there as needed. Our adult beverages consisted of a glass of red wine, a couple of orange crushes and a couple of grapefruit crushes. The beverages were tasty and refreshing. We shared Buttermilk fried calamari (with tentacles) and Dock House Popcorn, which has Fisher's Old Bay Popcorn, buttermilk fried shrimp, rockfish bites and calamari. Both appetizers were delish. We had Shrimp Tacos, Blackened Salmon, Lobsta Mac & Cheese and Halibut Tacos. The table got quiet when our entrees were served and I don't recall anyone offering to share. Went on a Monday night. Was not crowded. We were seated quickly. Waiter was attentive and helpful. Ambiance was great. Very nice view. We sat inside due to the heat but others were seated outside and looked comfortable. Food was great. Their menu did not have the same typical fare you find at some of the other places in the area. Specifically the grilled cheese crab cake was great. Portions were great with 3 out of 5 taking leftovers home. Overall a nice evening. We've been to the Dock House a few times now and have good experiences which is why we chose to go back; however; this visit was very different. We have two children so we ordered their food first. After they received their food, we put in our app order and our dinner order. It took FOREVER to get our appetizers, about 40 minutes or so. Right before we did receive the appetizers, I told my wife we'd probably be getting both our apps and entrees at the same time. Low and behold, not five minutes after getting the appetizers we received the entrees. After dinner we ordered desert which on this night happened to be the zeppolies (Italian donuts). Not only did they take a long time to receive, but the dough was not completely cooked, they were completely raw on the inside. We brought this to our server's attention and she said she'd have it taken off the bill, which she did. My issue is, why didn't a manager come out and speak with us? We saw the server speaking with the manager and getting approval to have it removed. Maybe all this is petty, but both my wife and I were put off by it and the next time we go out for dinner, we probably won't go to Dock House. read more

I have enjoyed going to the dockside restaurant for the last couple of years. the food is excellent and service is usually good. tonight we took friends there by boat. Our friend Karen has a connective tissue degenerative disease. she is losing the use of her hands and wears braces on her hands and leg, She now uses a walker for mobility. she has a service dog that assists her with coping with her disabilities. she drops things constantly and her service dog picks them up for her. Scout her service dog is devoted to her and a big help. He accompanied us to dinner. He slept under the table and didn't move or make a sound the whole time we were there. He was trained by United Disability Services in Lancaster PA. His training was two years. we were seated on the patio. the weather was perfect for outdoor dining. we were almost done eating when we were approached by a hostess and told we should not have been seated outdoors. service dogs need to be indoor and are not allowed on their patio. we informed them that is against the law to bar certified service dogs anywhere but an operating room. we then asked to talk to a manager. she informed us the owner made that rule and had all employees sign they would enforce it. The number for United disabilitiy service was given to the assistant manager and asked that the owner call it on Monday To be educated on the rules. again we reinforced they were breaking the law and could be sued. The rule makes no sense. the other tables around us were also quite upset with the staff and how we were treated. It made no sense when we were almost done to address this with us. Just handled very Badly!!!! Very upsetting to have a friend with a disability and her service dog treated this way. No plans to return! read more

I read the menu weeks ago and was completely confused over what direction this restaurant was going with the food selection, but I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised. I wasn't. The setting is awesome and probably a great place to enjoy a cocktail waterside. Hence, the 2 stars vs. 1 star. The menu is bizarre...the food combinations are all over the place and the food is not authentic to the shore. It's hard to tell who they want to be...is it seafood? Southern? Carb fest? They cover one of everything... Pasta Arrabbiata...just 1 lonely spicy pasta. There's a vegan cheesesteak, so odd just thrown in there. There are salads, so vegans, don't fret. Some additional odd highlights: Popcorn w fish and garlic Mayo?? Soft shell crab w creamed spinach and lobster gravy??? Crab bisque...honestly, people want MD vegetable crab or cream of crab. Someone was trying too hard with this outlandish menu. So, on to the food...the crab cake is mediocre and with so many better choices nearby, why settle? The fries were okay, but nothing great. Who puts clams in tomato sauce??? Menu says broth... it's full on pasta sauce and drowns the clams. The bread that came with the clams was a brick...inedible. Disappointing food. Expensive. Crab cake club was all jumbo lump with huge fresh shrimp, a lemon wedge and a sprinkle of Old Bay would've been a nice touch. Our server, Luke was a gem. The restaurant decor is simple, clean and bright. The waitstaff, food runners and bussers hustle without looking stressed, they function like a well oiled machine. We stopped by Dock House on a rainy Monday evening and had a wonderful surprise. It is set on the narrows with a lot of seating, most with water views. The waitress recommended anything with crab and she was not wrong. The crab soup was as good as you can find on the Eastern shore: it was chock full of veggies and large lump crab. So good. The crab cakes had less lump crab, more filler than I would have liked and were a bit small for the price.... but were very tasty. A real find. Yum. read more
