We've been by Baxter's Boathouse and Wharf restaurant a million times as we take the Hyline Boat to Nantucket at least monthly. I'm glad we did stop in today!! Plenty of parking, free too. Right near the Steamship Authority landing. We opted to sit outdoors, 72 Degrees, sun under clouds, umbrella, and a very slight light wind. The smell of the high tide coming in. Just incredible. Serendipitous. Seafood Bisque... we are sold! Always thought the best was at the Sagamore Inn, but Baxter's beats it by a mile AND they make it on site daily. Hot, thick, briney, and delicious; full of lobster and scallops. True New England seafood perfection!! She had the Broiled Cod, and I the Broiled Scallops. Both were absolute perfection as well (I think we found a new go-to place at the landings)! A teeny bit off of the beaten path, but so worth it! Glad we finally did it! We were in town for a couple days and decided to have lunch at this place today. It is along the water near the marina. There are actually two different dining areas. The first is called Baxter's Boathouse. It has a bar area and about twenty round tables with a picture of the cape as the tabletop and captain's chairs for seating. The other dining option is called Baxter's Fish and Chips. It has picnic tables for seating, as well as an outdoor deck with picnic tables. They both share the same menu. We sat in Baxter's Boathouse and loved the charm. Our server, Rochelle, quickly came over with menus and a friendly vibe. The menu had plenty of appetizers, handhelds, and entrees. I went with the cape slider combo. It came with one lobster slider, one cup of clam chowder soup, and one stuffed quahog. It was delicious. My husband had the grilled shrimp skewer with rice and a cup of clam chowder soup. He also enjoyed his lunch. We saw plenty of boats go by as we enjoyed our lunch. read more

I got the worst lobster roll I think I have ever had. It was literally just pressed on a flat un toasted un butter roll a leaf of lettuce. I two years old child could have made a better lobster roll. Service was normal what you would expect, nothing special that made me feel welcome and glad I was eating at their establishment. NO friendly "how Ya'll doing? We ordered seafood plater and onion rings to share. Since agood plater comes w whole belly clam, shrimp, scallops, fish and fries. When it arrives, my husband who is whole belly clam connoisseur told the server that he get strips only. After couple debate about the differences, the waitress ordered us the whole belly clam -w the manager's permission- and it was different and everything was great. The place is so packed, directly by the side of the river. You can enjoy the view from where you sitting. Onion rings are think and coated perfectly and fried nicely. We were cruising around in my cousin's boat until it was time to eat and we pulled into Baxter's (via boat) to their Dock & Dine spots which is exactly what it sounds like-- you arrive by boat, dock it right outside, and a waiter will come over and take your order and you eat your food in your boat on the very calming waters with stunning views. Brilliant concept. The clam chowder - a must order. Perfect amount of cream, clams, and potatoes in that thing. Delicious. Chicken Caesar wrap - also a must order. This was the perfect meal that is light yet so filling. The fries are nice and crunchy too. With my favorite to top it off - a lemonade and stunning views looking out in the distance on a parked boat and summer vibes all around. Life is oh so good. Nice cozy place. Has outdoor seating overlooking harbor. Unfortunately really didn't meet expectations. Seafood plate was pricey at $41 and it was served on a paper plate. As our individual plates were paper plates - as if eating at a fast food take out place. We had beer and wine $70 price tag was ridiculous. Won't be coming back. Server was very nice and attentive. I had to drive to town to drop someone off at the ferry port next door , so it was so convenient to stop there for a quick lunch . I wanted whole belly clams , I ordered the deep fried whole belly plate . ( $36 ) The Clams were good , probably got 12 to 16 clams . The fries were ok, the one thing that always bothers me is they give you like 1 or 2 oz of coleslaw. Like it's so expensive. So for $36 you're paying $2 a clam , $10 for fries , and the coleslaw isn't worth $2 . But the location and atmosphere is what makes it worth it . read more

Very good food. Some of the best clam chowder (chowdah) on the Cape. They have a combo plate (not shown on this menu) that includes a Stuffed Quahog, New England clam chowder, scallop and more. Great dish for the first timers. Only downsides are that the seating is too crowded (Remove one table from each row, please), and don't sit near the door to the outside patio. VERY windy. Beautiful view of Hyannis Harbor. The staff includes kitchen runners with your food and to backup your servers. Excellent customer service!! read more

I make time to eat here every time I'm visiting Hyannis. I generally sit on the casual side. Service is always attentive and fast. They always have a lot of staff. The foods never disappoint and the view of the boats going in and out of the harbor is always relaxing. I have tried various dishes here and they are always delicious. It's tend to be very busy in August so parking can be a challenge. We have also been here in June when there were plenty of parking and no wait at the restaurant. read more

The nautical theme is really cool and not outdated. The best sea food bisque I've ever had in my life! I believe there was lobster, clams and scallops in it, it was to die for. Lobster roll is top notch as well and the food came out faster than the drive through at McDonalds. I could not believe how good everything was and how fast it came out! Definitely a great spot to grab a beer and some food with friends or have a romantic night out with the spouse or a date. I would give it 6 stars if I could. Every year when I go see the Cotuit Kettleers- Hyannis Harborhawks play in Hyannis I always come to Baxter's for their fired clams and they are great. They have great staff of college kids working hard. Service has always been great. I love watching the boat come in and leave the harbor. Price is high but hey where can you get better? The lobster roll was a wet sloppy mess. My friend's shrimp cocktail was soggy. The grilled shrimp and pilaf, ok. My 40.00 roll came with a soggy piece of lettuce and a meager portion of boring beach shack style fries. First off I read the reviews so was excited to try. I was impressed with the new addition dining room, loved the ambiance watching the boats go by. However....i was not impressed that food was served on paper plates and paper take out cups for soup. With prices that expensive I believe I deserve more. Ordered the clam chowder with the clams being non existent. And the paper cup was a total turn off. My husband ordered the captains plate which was bland and tasteless. Cold slaw the same, couldn't eat. My coconut shrimp was tasty and flavorful but was not excited that pre packaged sauce was slapped on the plate. We stopped here for an early dinner on the 4th of July after dropping someone off at the train. I had a delicious oreo mudslide and the best clam strips I've ever had! On another occasion, we sat outside admiring the beautiful water views and my sister's dog enjoyed his spot under the picnic table too! Whoever recommended this to me must truly hate me. There was a hair in my food! It was blonde and short. No one at my table has blonde or short hair. I paid $70 for the fried platter and the appetizer calamari. The calamari itself was good but the batter was interesting. The platter.. I was robbed in broad daylight. The plate was the size of my hand and I am an average sized woman. There were 3 pieces of shrimp, 3 pieces of scallops, 11 French fries, 7 pieces of clams (which were veryyy chewy) and a piece of haddock the size of my palm. Go to spanky's next to it, so much better and more worth your money. It wasn't even that the food was expensive, it just wasn't good. The service was average. Everything is on plastic!
