We have always asked, if we're not golfers, why would we go to a golf course grill? Having lunch at Freeman's Grill answered our question- great food, great service and a great atmosphere In two dimensions! Inside is a wonderful sports pub ambience while outside has beautiful views of the Captains courses. We shared an appetizer of calamari with a spectacular assortment of peppers, tomatoes and arugula that is over the top. My wife had the club with a generous helping of house sliced turkey, bacon and dressed for the prom! I had the wagyu Kobe beef smash burger on a kick ass fresh brioche bun and dressed for the Emperor! And, the staff was simply awesome! Attentive, cheerful, accommodating and professional, Five Stars! Can't wait to return to try something different from a well balanced and attractive menu! Quality and creativity of menu.... Service commitment of staff We went to Freeman's Grill yesterday as we often do, but we are usually a party of 3: me, Mum, and Dad. Yesterday we invited my brother Mike from Chatham to join us with his wife and son... so we were 6. It was an odd day! The weather was absolutely beautiful and there was a tournament on at the Captain's Golf Course, we thought, as the place was packed! People everywhere - the scene was, well, "a scene." :) Two things: (1) we normally have no issue getting a quiet table in the corner with a view of the bucolic greens with no reservation, and (2) we have become unabashed fans of the cuisine at Freeman's... so we planned Friday to be with Mike thinking little of planning ahead. Big mistake. We looked around at the crowds and found the only free place to saddle up, but it was a high table in the noisy bar area, not the quiet tables area. We asked about the outside tables but the barmaid said she did not have a 6-top outside. We assumed this was our only choice. Highlight #1: Max. Max is one of the managers there. He has always been a source of welcome. He came over to us and suggested that 2 tables in the quiet area were clearing out and if we could wait a bit, he'd have them for us. Wow! Perfect. Max suggested this on his own inititiative and with no prompting from us - and it was perfect. It was just what we wanted. Mum and Dad can't hear too well these days, so we would have not had good day at the high-top table, I know. Highlight #2: Food. As we have come to expect from Freeman's, the food was a knock-out. I'm so happy because my brother and Karen are discerning about food. Karen is a chef in every sense of that word. I didn't perseverate on this point with the group, so let me tell you my experience - I had the quesadilla. I love the Freeman's quesadilla second only to their incredibly inventive soups (not a standard item - but look for them, definitely!) I was not a huge fan of the "buffalo" idea, but I took a chance, and you know, they delivered by tempering the buffalo sauce. So many times chefs will hit you hard with buffalo sauce at the sacrifice of the cheese and veg. Not this one. It was balanced. Bravo. Brewster Wings Buffalo chicken quesadilla Clam chowder French dip sandwich Smash Burger Highlight #3: Service. Our server was attentive but not overbearing - perfect. I mentioned to my mother that I could give her some of my quesadilla if she wanted, as she only had a cup of chowder, and before I could look up, the server had placed a clean empty plate in front of me for that purpose. I looked at her astonished. That's just one thing - she was consistently attentive and yet distant when we were not ready for her. Perfect. Bottom line: We love Freeman's and yesterday was a new lens into that world. It was quite different from our usual experience, and yet, it only reinforced our love of this place. 12 thumbs up! :) Footnote: I think they are closing for the winter at the golf course, but opening a new venue somewhere in Chatham/ Orleans to be called "Nallivus" - a reverse play on the owner's name "Sullivan"... totally gonna keep an eye for that! read more

If you are in the Cape, you must carve time out of your agenda to stop by this gem in Brewster! The staff and owner will make you feel at home and the food is outstanding. We stopped by for breakfast and were not disappointed. The breakfast sandwich is the best I have ever had and the menu options are worth multiple trips. The wagyu smash burger was also one of the best burgers I've ever had. If you get the chance to meet the manager, Sam O'Connor he will absolutely go out of his way to make your experience one of the best ever. Highly highly recommend! read more

Went here for lunch after seeing so many 5 star reviews. I assume it's because after golfing 18 holes anything tastes good, but as someone who just walked up to grab lunch it was sub-par. Service was minimal at best, chicken tasted like it was cooked yesterday, smash burger had no flavor and an abundance of shredded lettuce. If you're going here just for lunch, don't. read more

Suggested we try this place for lunch as somewhere new to us. Seat yourself and someone (in our case the bartender) will greet you shortly. Hmm, two Saturdays in a row we had bloody Mary's. They were tasty. We shared two appetizers, chicken wings and the quesadilla, which was more than enough for lunch and finger-licking good. Enjoyed watching The Open playing on all the screens. Lots of golfers coming in to enjoy the 19th hole. Next time an earlier visit as the breakfast sandwiches sound really good. read more

The food is very good and runs the gamut from a hotdog to a halibut entrée, which is exceptional. The staff is friendly and attentive. There is varied seating, both inside and out,high tops, or tables, or at the bar. It's a relaxing atmosphere, especially outside, looking at the golf course while you dine. I highly recommend Freemans Grill to anyone. You do not have to be a golfer to enjoy this venue. read more

The service and management here is so kind and incredible. I eloped in Brewster in a small ceremony but still had 25 guests. We had reservations for after the ceremony at a local restaurant but it closed down 20 min before we were due to be seated. I was in a total pinch. Freeman's took us in on a Friday night and accommodated 25 guests without any prior planning. The owner was understanding and so weren't the waiters. The food was delicious and the drinks were great. I celebrated a friends birthday recently at Freeman's. It was party of 6 and very impromptu late lunch. Seated immediately (luckily), quick service but not rushed. We were visiting the Cape with our youngest daughter who's in wheelchair. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. Every time we have been to the cape for the past few years we have stopped here for lunch. Every time we have found The food and service to be as good as you get. Our friend orders the same meal every time- hot dog and clam chowdah ( or as he calls it surf and turf). My wife and I are a bit more adventurous. We once again had two amazing appetizers- Freeman take on a Bruschetta/ Caprese with cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, with a balsamic dressing and avocado crema on toasted crostini's and a fried calamari that we have had before and loved. I also had the Catch of the day- a Hot Honey Fried Cod Sandwich with fries that was perfectly cooked. Flavor was off the charts. Hats off to the management and staff. We highly recommend it to anyone traveling to the mid and outer Cape. read more
